Visiting the area and someone suggested we give Oscar's a try. We were very pleased with the food and the outstanding service. My wife had the Chili Verde over hashbrowns and eggs on top. She loved and the sample I had was great. I had their sausage and eggs, opting for the patties over the links. Definitely the right choice. The patties were outstanding. It was really busy, but I had a feeling it would be from the reviews. My daughter and son in law both got Chicken fried steak, the steak was tender and the Garvey was really good. I had the two eggs, toast and fruit. The eggs were perfect and the variety of fruit was wonderful, my other daughter had bacon and eggs, she said it was really good, and my grandson had a pancake that was the size of a plate. This is such a wonderful place to eat. It seems to be the place the locals go. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is very fun. It is a place that is good for kids and adults alike. My kids got the chicken strips and they were amazing. They tasted like they were made with funnel cake batter! My wife got the southwest chicken sandwich and loved it. They have a large diverse menu and it is all very reasonably priced. Don't leave without dessert. There pies are to die for! read more

I have loved coming here for a long time, I recently moved away and this was one of the stops I had to have for the pork green chili. I knew they were under new ownership and was a little nervous but to my surprise the food was still very good. I am leaving a bad review for our waitress, Charissa. From the start she was a little stand offish. The rest of my party got their food and I was waiting and was not acknowledged that my food had not arrived. Waited at least 10 minutes before having to go up to the counter to ask her about my food after everyone at my table has already finished eating. Then once I was done eating we waiting for 15 minutes before having to go to the counter to ask for our check from the owner when she then continued to promote another business to some gentleman at the counter we received the check after she finished her conversation. The wait was only about 10 to 12 minutes, but could of been shorter if more staff. During 8 minutes of that wait there were two tables where the people had left but they couldn't get time to clean them off. Wife and I stayed 5 days in Durango and ate Oscars for breakfast/brunch 4 out of those 5 days. This family owned joint has a great atmosphere and busy diner feel yet oddly you feel at home. We loved watching the toy train ride around the entire perimeter of the diner. The food is off the chains delicious. Pick anything on the menu, seriously, it's all amazing. Walked in a little before 8 on a Monday morning and it was busy. This place sort of reminded me of Cheers, cause there were certainly the regulars that staff knew by name. With that said, they didn't treat us "out of towners" any differently. Ask for recommendations and the server came back with four or five, all with French toast. Located in a shopping plaza, so plan on a small dining experience. Sunday morning was fairly crowded but seated right away. Staff was super sweet, never got any refills. But they serve you, you and you go. No lingerieng, as people are waiting for you to go, to get them seated. The food was goodd! Got the farmers breakfast, scramble eggss were sooo good. I would give this place a solid 5 but it was just a little crazy. The wait time was 9 to 19 minutes. You can go ahead and tell me 10 to 20 and I can get that. Kinda strange but when you meet the owner, you can understand. She was very nice but just went on and on about Durango loosing 12 restaurants due to Covid. Keep up the good work and you will stay in business. Keep complaining and you will loose business. Kinda relax. You have a waiting line on a Tuesday morning. I really don't want to know about 12 places closing. Let's just talk about how Oscars is surviving. So I had a delicious omelette filled with bacon and avocado. The hash browns were also delicious. They had really good coffee. They had really good wait staff. All the ladies were hustling and working together to help each other. They can turn tables here and they do a good job of getting it done. The owner was partial to the local folks but I do understand this as they will return time and time again. Stopped in for a late breakfast. Everything was good. My husband had the Durango scramble and he loved it. My son said his eggs were cold. I had biscuit and gravy plate and my only issue was it all came with the hash brown with the biscuits and gravy on top and the eggs on top of that. I didn't know that when I ordered and I don't like my breakfast food mixed together. They were awesomely accommodating and fixed it. Space is very tight! Cute place in a strip mall adjacent to downtown. I did my research and even got a referral to Oscar's for breakfast, but extremely disappointed! Service was great, 2 ladies working their tails off. Unfortunately, everything we ordered was bad. 2 french toast orders that were burnt and had to be picked at. Side of bacon that was burnt to a crisp and completely inedible. I have never had gravy that was that greasy and unflavored. Had such high expectations between the reviews and our river guides suggestion, but the food was way off and way overpriced. I would normally ask for them to try to correct something like this, but they were consistently bad across all 4 of us eating and we had somewhere to be shortly after we ate. read more
