Totally stumbled onto this place by chance....Was in the area looking for a simple lunch and boy, did I sure find it!!! This is a really cute little family run deli and sandwich shop. Service: Not really great or really bad. I would have appreciated more help with the menu, or even being handed a paper menu when I had questions. I was trying to order off the board above the counter and wanted to know what was in items. Eventually I found the menus though. The cashier was nice enough. I was greeted and my order was taken politely. She also waved as I was leaving. I didn't hear when my food came up and the chef happened to be walking by and gave me a tap on the shoulder to let me know. That was much appreciated. I was the only person there at the time. Food: I can't have too much bread, so I opted for a salad to save my carbs for something else. Salad was on the low end of average for a little less than $8. I wasn't expecting much and ended up being impressed. The chicken on the blt salad was perfectly cooked. It was a little salty, but I'm sensitive to salt. The lettuce was fresh, crisp and tasty. Tomatoes were really fresh too, just wish they were bigger chunks and had more. Overall, it was w fantastic deal for what I got. The food is served in plastic ware and on trays. I wasn't crazy about that, but what do you expect in place like oscars? Decor: The place is small. Not too much seating, so if probably lean towards ordering Togo. It was also a little dated looking and I wasn't sure what they were going for. It was extremely clean though. First let me say that my life revolves around the best customer service this world has to offer. I will never spend my money on "OK" or "alright" customer service. Especially at places where the workers dont know their own menu. I walked in and right away was greeted by a tall Gentleman with a smile and warm deep voiced welcome. I always make a habit of asking the person taking my order what they recommend. Right away he asked " Hot or Cold". I told him " Either Or" and right away he gave me options. A Tuna sandwich being the first. I do not like tuna, and he said right away, with a smile and chuckle, gave me other options. He brought up both hot and cold options and brought up the Chicken Club. He knew, without hesitation, what made up the sandwich and showed me the side options it came with. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and confident. As I paid (GREAT PRICING ACROSS THE MENU), I checked out the restaurant. The ENTIRE restaurant was clean. organized, and up to standards. I've worked in high end restaurants before, and this, in comparison, was amazing. Everyone looked relaxed and happy. Everything was out for all eyes to see what they were doing. The Soda Fountain poured a perfectly balanced soda (not too sweet and not too much carb), they offered bottled drinks as well. They have a GREAT variety of food for all ages and pallets. The pricing was affordable(honestly a steal), and the amount you get for what you pay is perfect! Honestly a hidden Gem in Tustin and I highly recommend this restaurant. I love this place. My favorite is the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich on sourdough bread. That sandwich is just so damn delicious! Each sandwich comes with a side salad or soup. Salads consist of macaroni, potato, fruit, veggies and more. I always get the macaroni salad. They have a great cucumber salad too. Very yummy. Their navy green bean soup is my favorite. The new owner is always so nice. He kept the original cooks and staff from the previous owner so the quality of the food remains delicious. They have good breakfast items too. When you order breakfast you get their salsa with your meal. OMG .... I love that salsa! I wish I could order a quart of it. I asked for a chicken salad sandwich and he said, "what kind of bread?" I said, "what kind do you have?" He points to a sign...I'm like ..."oh okay..." It's a wonderful hole-in-the-wall! We've been coming here since I was little; we'd get sandwiches and go over to the free concerts in the park Tustin has each summer. My dad and I came here today for lunch. The summer salad in particular was amazing-- we've never had a bad side here! We both had tuna salad today (Good Friday) and it was a generous portion, and really tasty (and we're picky about our tuna salad sandwiches!). I called and ordered a couple trays of sandwiches for my baby shower, when I was given the price I was confused. I asked the owner why the prices on the website were different than what i was being quoted. They were charging me $15 more a tray than what's listed. The Owner was extremely rude and basically told me that they changed the prices for the new year and he won't go back on it then jumped to cancel my order. He also said that at some point in the future he'll update the website and hung up on me. If you're advertising for your business it's very important to have all marketing current and not have conflicting information. I'm sure he'll have a few more unsatisfied customers especially if he treats them the way I was treated. I know at least 10 people that order from this deli, they will all hear about this. read more

He said he was the new owner and we had a good conversation about each other's businesses. So the food. The menu looks like it just consists of the classic sandwiches, but they also do have breakfast burritos. I was in the mood for either a meatball sandwich or a pastrami and ended up going with the pastrami on rye, the home made potato salad and a soda. All for under $9!!! The sandwich was hot, pastrami was juicy and flavorful and the rye was perfectly toasted. I am a potato salad connoisseur, and found that theirs was perfect. Creamy, perfectly seasoned with the right amount of mustard mixed in. I'm definitely going back soon. You should check it out. It is generally packed with the working crowd who even though can afford a more expensive variety they choose Oscar's for it's great deals, great portioned sandiwiches/food, and fresh ingredients. They slice the meats right in front of you! I love Oscar's. Even though the employees remind me of infamous soup nazi on Seinfeld, I don't mind the gruff exterior because the food is that good. It's not fancy or anything but very simply decorated and a casual lunch or breakfast spot. For years while working in Santa Ana I ate at the other branch of Oscar's Deli, tucked away in some strip mall down on First Street, only ever venturing to this stop once or twice. Came back here a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. Since I hadn't been in so long, I opted for my favorite sandwich from years gone by--the Italian Sub with a side of potato salad. Just as good as I'd remembered, chock full of meat, cheese, and veggies with a dash of italian dressing on very fresh bread. Potato salad was excellent as always. And the price is right too. Only complaint is that this place is small and can get pretty busy, so you may have trouble finding a table during the lunch rush. read more
