I guess I could finish my beer, pay my tab and go searching for something good to eat. She didn't know the Wi-Fi password neither because they changed the password. Why broadcast the guest Wi-Fi if you aren't going to make it available? There was no organizer for the meetup event. With only a handful of people here, do I want to wait for the karaoke session? WOW. What an amazing restaurant! The experience from entrance to exit was completely amazing. If you love vodka sauce go nowhere else as the rigatoni and chicken parm was simply to die for. I also looooved the Branzino as the presentation was so cool and it tasted amazing! What truly won us over, though, was the manager, Josh! The care he had for not just us but the entire restaurant was palpable. He gave us a complimentary dessert cocktail flight that was his own recipes and guys it was STUNNING! An orange chocolate martini, I wanted a full one after I had it!!! He took the time to speak to us, get to know us and speak about his own passions and what drives him which revolved a lot around making drinks for guests to really enhance their experience and he surely did that with us! I ordered the Margherita pizza, which is usually a staple and hard to mess up, but it was lacking in flavor and the crust was a bit too chewy for my taste. I also tried the lemon Tagliolini, which sounded really promising, but unfortunately it was overcooked and a bit too soft for my liking. The lemon flavor was also a bit overpowering and made the dish taste a bit off. In terms of service, it was just okay. Our server seemed a bit rushed and wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. We had to flag them down a few times to order more drinks and to ask for the check. Overall, I would give Ospi 3 stars. While the atmosphere was nice, the food and service were just average. I didn't have a reservation, but luckily, I was able to snag a spot at the bar right away, which was perfect because I love sitting there--it's the best way to get quick service. Been to Venice a couple of times and really wanted to try this place. I had high hopes considering its reviews and prices but honestly it was disappointing. We went on Saturday night and obviously we know it was going to be busy but the staff were on it and for that it gets 3 stars. The food was not great and service was slow. We ordered calamari and drinks for starters and those came pretty quick and were satisfying, but the main courses fell flat. My linguini pasta came so underdone that I couldn't separate the noodles apart. I even had my partner try it and he didn't enjoy it either. It was as I was chewing a piece of gum. If I were to go again I would focus on the apps and drinks. Honestly we went to Great White for our first night here and had amazing food and thought this would top it. My visit to OSPI was overall quite enjoyable. The culinary highlights were the vodka pasta, crispy provolone, copione pizza, and cauliflower. Almost everything met my expectations, and I particularly found the provolone addictive when paired with the vodka sauce. The freshness of the pasta and the flavorful sauce added to the satisfaction of the meal. The pizza with honey and soppressata was a perfect blend of sweet and savory. However, one aspect that detracted from the experience was the noise level, especially when seated outdoors. It's something to consider for those who prefer a quieter dining environment. Despite this, I would gladly return for another dining experience, aiming for indoor seating next time to potentially enhance the overall enjoyment. OSPI left a positive impression, and I look forward to exploring more of their food. read more

We recently visited OSPI restaurant, and the pizza was a delight! The flavors were just perfect, and the crust was crispy and flavorful. We had the pleasure of trying the unique Cacio e Pepe pizza, which added a fun twist to our meal. And let me tell you, the fries were a big hit! They were absolutely delicious and paired wonderfully with an amazing special sauce that made the experience even better. The service was exceptional, with the staff being friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The cozy ambiance of the place made our dining experience even more enjoyable. What made this visit even more special was that my kids tried the Margherita pizza and absolutely loved it! OSPI is a perfect spot for families and pizza lovers alike. I recently visited for brunch and had a good experience overall. The food was delicious, especially the hash browns which I highly recommend. The drinks were strong and well-made, striking a good balance without being overbearing. It was evident that the staff was putting in effort, even though we went during the opening and the restaurant felt a bit closed off. Unfortunately, the presence of flies due to the open doors in the area was a minor drawback. However, I appreciate that the staff addressed and handled the situation professionally. I'm inclined to give a 4-star rating for the positive aspects of my visit, but I'm settling on 3 stars due to the unique circumstances that affected my experience. read more

This place has no idea how to serve Italian style. No bread offered on the menu. Main plates do not come with side dishes and all is a la cart. making it pricy. We were a party of 4 and food was brought separated, cold, and in very small amount. Same sauce with different twist was used for several dishes making it "not special". Parmesan cheese was already added to the pasta, no extra cheese, salt or paper on the table. Water was room temperature and ice had to be requested. Every dish was served so spread out that some of the guest had finished eating when others did not even have their dish on their table.. I do not recommend this place. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience at Ospi in Venice. Ordering takeout here, whether through their website or apps like DoorDash, Postmates, or Uber Eats, is a hassle. There's no dedicated pickup area, so you end up navigating through more than 10 people waiting chaotically near the entrance. It's not only inconvenient but unsafe, especially if you're trying to quickly grab your dinner. My biggest frustration, though, was the portion size. Paying $28 for spaghetti, I was shocked to find only about 4 forkfuls, barely filling a quarter of the Tupperware. Honestly, it felt like being robbed. I'm going to start by saying that I don't get too excited going out to eat for Italian food. It's usually really disappointing so I had no expectations. This food was incredible. I got their spicy salami pizza that had hot honey on it and I asked to swap out the normal pizza sauce for vodka sauce. Ummm wow, that was incredible. They also had really good starter-salads and my boyfriend loved his pasta. I've already made three reservations to go back, including taking my parents! This place can usually be booked up or have a wait so I recommend eating at the bar. You get amazing service and there's plenty of bar space to eat your full meal comfortably. read more

I never write Yelp reviews, but I don't think I'll be this inspired to write one for a while, so lets seize the moment.... I am so happy to have found this spot. The drinks, food, and service are on-point. We had a couple pizzas, along with a few drinks. The CRUST?!! I could eat these pizzas in my sleep.....and dream about them the following night. The crust is thin enough that I don't feel like I have to roll out of the restaurant. Perfect by-the-beach food. The staff takes every Covid precaution and more. I can't wait to come back. Ospi is a top LA restaurant that I visited for lunch. It's gaining even more popularity with Chef Jackson Kalb appearing on Top Chef. The outdoor seating with a view of Venice beach was fantastic, and the staff was friendly. We started with the must-try Crispy Provolone, a delicious appetizer. For our main dishes, we had the unique Breakfast Carbonara and the indulgent Giant Buttery Hashbrown. I had leftovers of the hashbrown for breakfast and lunch. It would be great if they offered more non-alcoholic drink options. Overall, brunch at Ospi was delightful, and I'm excited to see Chef Jackson Kall on Top Chef. read more

Ospi is such a gem. The restaurant has a small, cozy atmosphere that makes it feel warm and inviting from the moment you walk in. The pasta was the star of the meal--fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. My biggest recommendation is to come hungry and order plenty of dishes to share. There are so many great options on the menu, and sharing lets you experience more of what Ospi has to offer. He was also rude and snappy with another one of my co-workers who had a dog with her and was trying to explain her situation which he didn't seem to care about. However, he was selectively nice to other people in my party. My other co-workers felt his rude energy towards certain people in our party too. Overall, I wouldn't dine here again. The food improved from my last visit, but the staff have mean energy that I do not appreciate.

I really have a hard time thinking these review were real or that people's standards are pretty low. This is a great restaurant, which means if a dish makes it on the menu, it is obviously good. So, when guests ask for recs, please, please take a stance. Do not say it is all good. Yes the prices can feel high, but the context is you're right next to the beach, so it's understandable. (I always note the price tag for restaurants because I myself have to plan/save for nicer dinners. I included the bill for reference.) Keep that in mind when you are choosing to dine here. I will say though, I avoid beach side restaurants because they are usually over priced and mid tier. I can confidently say that Casa 12 brings the flavor and a pleasant, homelike break from the sandy beach. I think they are my #1 for pasta flavors. I am eager to see what restaurant can top them!
