It was my first time and I had only heard great things, but my meal was a major disappointment. Servers were lovely and helpful, though scarce with the party happening. The cocktails were excessively sweet. The appetizer portions were puny. And my spaghetti and clams was so salty that it was actually inedible. Hate to give a bad review, we used to love this place. There only seemed to be one waitress for entire room. She only came back to ask if I wanted another beer but never asked how our food was. This is consistently one of the very best restaurants in Fairfield County. We have been here many times with friends, family, small groups and just for date night. The staff is outstanding, the food is always hot, well presented, perfectly prepared, the ambiance is perfect and the portions are generous! I order take-out from this place regularly, and the food is always very good. It's fresh, not too rich, and very flavorful. They have a nice menu with lots of options. I can't speak to the dining experience, as I haven't been there for a dine-in experience, but the food is very good. I think it's a bit better than Ecco up the road-- their portions are a bit too large and their food is much richer at Ecco. This place does a nicer job on the entrees. Very good. read more

Average. Cheese and meat board was very disappointing with 50% of the board being spring greens, 2 small unripe and tasteless tomatoes each with a thin piece of mozzarella. A few pieces of provolone, some olives and 4 pieces of Italian deli meats, which were nothing special. The special of appetizer/entre/desert sounded appealing, but very small portions (waitress said 2 half portions to equal 1, but was absolutely not the case when comparing to full portions we witnessed around us and at our own table). Calamari was OK...again nothing special about it. I will say the drinks were great and a nice wine list. Likely will not return. read more

Okay this place gets 4 stars because they usually hit it out the park and I have ordered from here enough times to lose count. The clams are usually very tasty, actually the entire meal and they do include sautéed mushrooms for me. Today is the one day where I feel like I need to take a break before I lose my love of clams... especially since I'm borderline vegetarian! This dinner was absolutely delicious! We didn't know beforehand that there was only a select menu for New Year's Eve, but it was absolutely worth it! Great atmosphere, it was busy, obviously for New Year's Eve, but it wasn't too loud to interrupt dinner. The waiter had a great personality and made the night really enjoyable! The menu included a three-course meal, I got the lentil soup, I chose the Pollo al Prosecco as my main course which was chicken crusted with sharp cheese, pan fried and served in a garlic in sparkling wine sauce. It was delicious! For dessert I had the chocolate lava cake which was delicious! The vanilla gelato on top of it was delicious as well! Atmosphere was great and the service too. We were a party of about 13 and decided to order 3 of the family style seafood antipasti for an appetizer. There wasn't much on each platter. My biggest regret was my dinner choice...I had eggplant parmesan and someone at my table had chicken parmesan. I said my eggplant parmesan had a taste of cardboard, I tried the sauce by itself and it wasn't the sauce. As I passed it around to a few people at my table, we realized the breadcrumbs were probably stale for my eggplant parmesan and the chicken parmesan. The seafood looked delicious on other people's plates. There was another complaint about a veal dish that someone complained about...they said it tasted like a composite meat. I was really excited to have a family dinner here until dinner was served. If I have to go back there, I now know what not to order and I question the rest. read more

We came her for a bit of an impromptu date and WOW. First off, the interior is beautiful. There's faux trees separating the two sides of the dining area and the bar space. There's twinkly lights all over so the lighting is very warm and cozy. In a word: adorable. Feels very romantic, but not oppressively so. There was a lot of attention to detail with real candles and foam lining under the tables (so you don't bump your knees). As for the service, it was great. Our server was attentive with a few moments of lag, which she acknowledged and apologized for, and it was right up to closing so she was off doing those tasks. We didn't mind at all. She was very helpful for everything else. Price wise this is a $30 per person place with food and drink and can easily get more expensive if you get greedy but it's not crazy and it's worth the price tag for that experience and food. Now, that food. We had the mushroom risotto, gnocchi, and the saffron risotto. The gnocchi was good, but nothing memorable. Very cheesy and cozy, but simple and the gnocchi didn't have that melty softness I look for. The saffron risotto was good, but I could have passed in the pancetta inside as the flavor was really overpowering. The star was the mushroom and truffle risotto. It was so good. The flavor and texture was all just great. Overall, we wanna come back for more risotto and to try more options! read more

Went about 2 weeks ago to the Monroe location. I had already been to the Norwalk location a couple of times. If Norwalk could be topped with taste, presentation and service - Monroe equaled if not surpassed what I recall. I will definitely be back and probably to both locations, it's just that good. Two of us had the SALMONE MOSTARDA and the 3rd had Pollo al Prosecco. I didn't taste the chicken but the salmon was just out of this world. Stopped here a couple of months ago for a late lunch. This is a REAL Italian restaurant that serves Italian food done to perfection. Their Business Man's 3 course lunch offers an appetizer an entree and desert that varies day to day. Generous portions prepared in the "0ld Country " manner. We ate here last night and I am compelled to write this review. We are a family of 4 with two adult sons. The food was beyond compare! We couldn't stop talking about how good our food was. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi, and I have to say I think it's one of the best meals I have ever eaten. My husband had the Gnocchetti Filanti and one son had Pollo A Fior De Latte and my other son had Pollo Al Prosecco. So we all ordered quite different things. The portions sizes were awesome as well! Decided to go for a beautiful Friday afternoon happy hour. We're seated outside next to the main road (so loud) since that's where the happy hour patrons are removed to. Ordered my prior favorite drink, blood orange martini. Unfortunately it was NOTHING like I'd had previously. It resembled orange kool-aid with "well" vodka (we were told top- shelf). Couldn't finish it... NASTY! Wow, wow, wow. I am so happy I found this place. Their food is out-of-this-world good and their brunch is not to be missed. I enjoyed sampling their pollo al prosecco and cavatelli with meat sauce from the lunch station buffet. I loved having the ability to create my own omelette, which was equally delicious. The buffet options are endless and impressive with a good deal of options to choose from. They offer salads, a few lunch options as well as a carving station, raw bar and dessert station. There was nothing that didn't instantly impress me. Now, for the service - it's the very best around. The staff waited on me like a queen. The servers were happy, attentive and some of the best. Wow what an experience- From the service to the food. We were seated promptly and from the moment we arrived our server was attentive. We chose the pre-fixe menu which is $29.95 and 3 courses. I had a spinach salad in an orange Vinaigrette to start and my friend had the antipasto. For dinner she had the fresh made lobster ravioli topped with arugula. Oh my god was it delicious. I had the steak topped with grilled veggies and oven roasted potatoes. Simply delicious. We needed with a just as amazing dessert of strawberry Penna cotta and a blueberry tart. #winning read more

My husband took me here for our Valentine's dinner last night. The place was completely packed. Our table was a tight squeeze to get in and out. The service was great, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the branzino and my husband had the lamb chops. I have to say, though, that the highlight of the dinner was the pasta carbonara. OMG out of this world!!! They make their own pasta and it is so good! I will definitely be back for the pasta. We had creme brûlée for dessert. It was smooth and sweet and a nice portion. The only issue is that they pack too many tables in a small area which makes it both tight and loud. Other than that, it's great. read more
