We ordered the salmon deluxe which was a decent portion, the salmon in each piece was nicely sized. We also had the Nassau roll which was flavourful and pretty. The crispy rice was also a winner and larger size than I would expect. For dessert we tried the Yuzu tempura cheesecake - which is a fried cheesecake. I love Japanese food and couldn't wait to try! When I arrived I parked on the street and the parking was very hard in this area. When I finally found parking I walked into a cute restaurant. I was greeted and sat and served by Jimmy and he was good. I ordered the cab and that was good. For food I got: Chicken Karaage Bun Chicken Yakitori seafood ramen shrimp teriyaki The food was tasty. Our server was accommodating and nice. Tonkatsu Ramen was the perfect amount of noodles, I chose thick while my friend chose curvy. The broth was super yummy and the pork was thick but juicy. A bit charred round the edges but I kinda of love that. Mango Crepe was alright, was missing some fresh and juicy flavors but it was ok. Still soft and edible. Elevated sushi at a reasonable price not far from the heart of the Financial District. They have a large underground space with dim lighting and lots of neon welcoming you down the stairs. It feels like a sushi cavern. We came for a Sunday lunch, and it wasn't too busy, which was nice. We tried a mix of sushi. The eel nigiri is exceptional if you like eel, which I do, and a perfect bite for just $3.75. The maki is nice, too. The classic crunchy spicy yellowtail is very simple but has a nice crisp and just a touch of spice. Salmon avocado and tuna avocado are simple but fresh, too, and larger than the rolls you get at most places. We wanted to sample one of their signature rolls, too, so we had the ganbino. It is unique, topped with seared steak, and that sear creates some delicious flavor. We really enjoyed it. The menu is huge. We wanted just rolls, but they rice bowls, ramen, and entrees, as well, and a large selection of soups and appetizers. If you're coming for dinner, the cocktails looked pretty good, too. The food was good, but everything else made the experience unenjoyable. From the start, service felt rushed and careless. We were pushed to order quickly, rushed through our drinks, and even had beer poured into cups after we clearly said we were doing sake bombs. When we asked for fresh wasabi, we were told it was "hard to find," yet it magically appeared on our sashimi. The real deal breaker was when staff began mopping the floor halfway through our meal using strong chemical cleaners. The smell of Fabuloso and Clorox completely killed our appetite. To make it worse, fans were turned on and mopping continued right next to our table while we were still eating. We arrived an hour before closing and ordered a full meal -- this wasn't a last-minute visit. When we informed the manager that the smell ruined our meal, the response was simply, "OK." Glad I listened to the reviews. I almost did not come in after seeing stairs going down when entering. The chirashi was the best I ever had. A more traditional approach to sushi than other places I've been. I was really excited to experience it. Everything was very tasty and high quality. The nigiri and maki rolls were great. I had a special that came with salad or miso. I chose salad - wasn't the biggest fan of the dressing so next time I'll avoid it. The yellowtail jalapeño was a standout for me. Many times I order anything jalapeño at other sushi spots and the jalapeño isn't hot at all. I'm not sure how they can gage it beforehand but every single one was packed with heat. Im staying in the financial district and decided to go to Otani based off of the reviews. I was extremely pleased with my experience at this restaurant. I went on a Wednesday night, we waited maybe 5 minutes to be seated. The service was extremely fast and the servers were very attentive. The ramen was delicious, I like my broth very hot and I asked the server if they could heat it up for me a bit more with no hesitation he did it. The ramen portion is huge it feels never ending but it's so delicious you don't want it to end. The calamari was also 10/10 it was not the typical small pieces and it was perfectly crunchy.
