Upon walking in, my first impression was good one. Limited menu but enough for lunch. I was meeting a couple of colleagues for lunch, so I got there a bit early to make sure I was ahead of the rush to get a good parking spot and a nice table. For appetizers we had the calamari, garlic shrimp & bread service. Both the calamari & shrimp arrived quickly and were pretty good - although I like cocktail sauce with my calamari which they didn't have so I asked for some horseradish, which they did have, so I thought I would make my own, but they didn't have ketchup - really, a restaurant that doesn't have ketchup. Overall the appetizers were good, but not great. Other reviews indicted superb & amazing, I guess they haven't had the garlic shrimp at Moro's. Also, any place that charges to put bread on the table loses some credibility. For 3 of us, our bill w/ tip was $140.00 but they needed the extra $6 for table bread. Maybe if they didn't some folks would just come for the bread. My guests both ordered pasta plates which were well presented when they arrived at the table and both commented their pasta dish was very good. I ordered a Caesar salad & Salsiccia (sausage) pizza. I prefer a traditional deluxe style pizza so I asked to add pepperoni, ham, anchovies and extra cheese to my pizza. They told me they couldn't add extra cheese because it wouldn't cook correctly due to the thin crust?? Up charge for the 3 items was only $5 which i thought was very reasonable. As for the pizza, it was good, not great. If I ever go back, I guess I'll try the pasta. For a $20 pie, I wasn't impressed although the Caesar salad was very good, better than most I have had. Very good dressing. Our waitress was nice and did a good job servicing our table. Overall, nice enough place for a casual business lunch. Also, know that the non-metered street parking adjacent to and behind the restaurant is still patrolled by the Detroit Police and if you park closer than 15' to the unmarked crosswalk, you'll get a $45 ticket for "blocking the crosswalk"... which i didn't know or I wouldn't have moved my car forward the extra 5' to allow more room for parking behind me. two of us went to ottava viaon 3-30...middle of the day between lunch and dinner... to begain: all the food was good, fresh tasting right portions and good pricing. liked the decore...two other tables besides ours. this is were it ended....4-5 staff members by the service area all were very loud, laughing.. twice on different ocasions ea one of us tried to get the attention of one of them no luck ... one looked at me, i tried to get him to come to the table but, he just turned away and could not care less.. i then took particular notice that no staff member smiled neither are server who was replaced by another server(?) no smiles... all the staff did not seem friendly.. we mentioned this to the manager and he just laughed.... the staff including the manager were in the twilight zone... the food and atmosphere should get 5 stars not the staff.. read more

Was about an hour wait tonight for 4 people. Would recommend sitting in the backroom if possible. It's so intensely loud and raucous in the front that it's impossible to hear anything without shouting when the place is full and buzzing like it was tonight. We were tucked away into a corner and it worked out well. Had the prosecco and g inger beer. I had the caprese salad, House salad and the special tonight of Chilean seabass. I loved the basil pesto sauce and the balsamic glaze on my tomatoes and mozzarella cheese with some kumato tomatoes too. The house salad was tasty and the dressing was light and vinaigrette base. My seabass was delicious despite it not being blackened. I almost always get all of my fish blackened. The seabass was perfectly cooked and so yummy. My bf loved his minestrone soup and his chicken entree. My step dad loved his porchella and my mother loved her beet salad and her porchini cheese with the crostini and pears. I love this adorable little Italian restaurant in Corktown. The vibe is very romantic with dim lights and nice decorations. They have their own parking lot in the back (free), but there aren't very many spaces. There are metered spots on the surrounding streets as well. We arrive around 6:00pm on Saturday and is was really busy but there was plenty of room at the bar. I definitely recommend the calamari and chicken caesar salad. The white anchovies on the salad made me feel like I was eating minnows but it was still delicious. The breaded soft boiled egg was also interesting. Our bill was around $45 for two drinks, calamari, and a chicken caesar salad. If you plan on getting drinks, appetizers, and two meals, you might spend $85+. Outside they have a fireplace which is super cozy but its a little too cold this time of year. They also have a second dining room on the other side of the kitchen which is a lot less noisy. I feel obligated to write this review. I've been a few times and mostly had good experiences. But when you give people food poisoning.... Ordered carry out recently and was served Caesar salad w badly expired dressing. My friend ate it later that night, while I saved it for the next day. He ended up super sick from the salad and missed work as he was up all night puking. I called the next day to warn them about the dressing after I tried to eat it for lunch and took one bite and spit it out. Stopped in during Corktown St. Patty's Day Parade. There was no cover and they were serving pizza inside. Pizza looked and smelled great but we had already eaten. I have heard great things about their food and they are supposed to be fun in the summer with an outdoor patio and bocce ball so I will definitely return to check it out. For the St. Patty's Day Parade Festivities, they were hosting their "Let's Get Ready to Stumble" event outside with a beer tent. They had a live violin player, and dj. Guinness and PBR with a few other beers available and people were dancing and enjoying themselves. Had a great time! Will be back to properly check out their food. read more

My review is more of a 3.5 star than a 3, but here we go. This was my first time here; I've been hearing wonderful things for several years and was really excited to try the menu. We had NYE reservations for my husband and I with another couple. The facility was beautiful; festive and cozy. Our server was wonderful and friendly. The menu was reasonably sized but I found some of the prices to be a tad extreme - Veal Parmesan for $42? The veal polpette small plate was $12, and what was presented were three smallish-sized meatballs in a bit of marsala sauce. They were delicious, but $12 for 3 meatballs? My husband ordered the beet salad and bolognese, I ordered the caesar salad and carbonara. The salads were ample, pastas adequately sized and decent. My caesar salad was nothing special, the dressing was pretty good, there were anchovies ON the salad which was a good surprise, the "farm egg" listed on the menu was actually a soft-boiled egg that appears to have been fried with some breading on it. It was tasty, but a total surprise. One snobby, nit-picky issue for me was that the carbonara wasn't a true carbonara because it had cream in it. There's no cream in a true carbonara; only egg yolks, pasta water and either parmesan or pecorino cheese. I ordered it anyway, because I love bucatini and carbonara in general, but I found the dish to be only adequate; the garlic was quite raw-tasting and overpowering, some of the onions were rather raw-tasting as well and a number of the pasta strands were stuck together and therefore chewy/under cooked. What should've been a soft, creamy and heartwarming pasta was pretty bitey and sharp tasting due to the onions and garlic. My husbands bolognese was nothing overly special, to be honest. Our friend ordered the fungi pizza which was honestly the star of the show. All of this said - we had a lovely dinner, great service and ambiance, but the food, pricing and portions just didn't hit the mark. I likely won't be back. A $100 meal for one couple, in my opinion, can be better spent elsewhere. read more

If I want to sit at the bar, I would just walk up to the bar and sit. If I want a table like every other paying customer in your effing restaurant, then I ask for a table. I don't care that you're going to lose money because I'm solo. I want to enjoy your food in peace like everyone else, not wait for your overworked bartender to ignore me for 10 minutes.
