Our family loves this place. They always have great service. They are great about customizations, they even remember how we like our food cooked. The side orders always make it to the table with the food (or early), so the fries don't get cold waiting for ranch. Because of having health issues, I wasn't comfortable eating inside since the virus, so they brought a table out to their patio for us. That's why we go back, and why local is best! read more

Country Diner alert!! All your breakfast and lunch diner favorites ! We have passed this place literally a million times and kept wondering what the food is like. Well we wonder no more. For lunch today we stepped into a bit of what reminds me of an Oklahoma Diner , I could almost see my country country cousins stopping by this place. The menu is full of classic sandwiches like French Dip, Monte Cristo, Hamburgers and other American Sandwich Staples. The menu is big on Breakfast and has lots of Omelettes to chose from .They even mark all the low carb items so you for those South Beachers it's a little easier. For starters Linda our server was instantly like family, she was sweet and kind . I love the way she talked to my daughter like she already knew her , "So Sammy what are we having today?" Linda was extra helpful and made great recommendations .She even warned us about the size of portions and boy she wasn't kidding. Linda did a great job keeping glasses full and prompt service. We noticed in this small establishment there were four servers , whoa that's rare these days. I had the avocado Omelette which is big , with super nice chunks of avocado , no salsa but I never asked for any either. The hash browns were not my favorite style more mashed than chunky but you decide. You can chose yummy fresh made daily biscuits or toast. Plus One( husband) had the Prime rib and eggs breakfast which he couldn't finish. The prime rib had good flavor for breakfast not top quality but pretty good, considering we are in a diner. This is one of their specialities and if you are hungry it's perfect. This also comes with hash browns, eggs, and two humongous cupcake sized biscuits with a well seasoned gravy. If I wasn't low carbing it that would have been lunch! The decor is cute and quaint. Cornbread hash was dry hash browns under cooked as well biscuits were tall cake like biscuits with not enough gravy to handle the biscuits. . (Feel better served if cut in half gravy on top) When our food was given to use so was our check.. The place wasn't busy and I was going to order a breakfadt to go for my daughter.. we must of hit the sweet spot for time 9am-930 soo I feel placing what I owe with the food I purchase puts a BAD TASTE in my mouth. Mike & Rhonda's is our "go-to" place but on this fine morning we found the line to be WAY-TOO long to negotiate. Further down the road is Crazy Otto's The greetings were warm and the place is cozy. The menu had the promise of a great meal and the excitement built as we all ordered. Upon the first bites of each of our party of 4 our collective excitement subsided into a bland plate of mediocrity. Painful to have such harsh word were the kindness and customer service are 4 star....but sadly the food is bland and in need of a kick in the pants. A very nice "thank-you" rang in my ear as we departed, and I hope the Crazy Otto will raise his game to where I know it could be. Tons of potential. read more

I started coming here with coworkers and I really enjoy it. There's a small town feel with this diner and the food is good. This is not a cookie cutter diner like Village Inn or Denny's, so don't expect a three dollar breakfast that leaves you feeling still hungry at the end. The portions are big but a little pricy hence my four star review. The staff is friendly and quick to get you your food and drinks. I read other reviews that the staff was rude, but that hasn't been my experience at all. This place deserves at least one try from everyone. I've wanted to try Otto's for a while. I generally love small diners like this. Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed overall. Let me start with the positives: 1. It's a standard looking ma and pa style diner with a decor of old license plates all over the walls. It has a counter that for some reason had a reserved sign on it. 2. Service was prompt though not truly friendly. 3. The menu is diverse and has options for low-carb diners. That wasn't me but I thought it a nice touch. 4. The over-easy egg was properly cooked and the rye toast tasted good. Unfortunately that was overcome by the rest of the food: I ordered the country-fried steak and eggs with hash browns and toast. As I noted above the eggs and toast were fine. The hash browns were meh, tasted like frozen hash browns thrown on the grill. The country-fried steak was huge but way over cooked and tough. Finally, the gravy. It might have been made from scratch since it tasted of undercooked flour and very little seasoning. Adding healthy doses of salt, pepper, and even Tapatio sauce couldn't mask the flour taste. I see the other reviews that talk about other dishes being very good so maybe I'll give Otto's another try someday but it probably won't be soon. read more

Went here with my wife who is 8 and a half months pregnant to meet my mother for breakfast and the told me and my pregnant wife to wait outside until everyone was there. We were rushed several times once we were eating even taking my mothers plate before she had finished and the lady had to put the plate back down. Well, let's start with the greeting. I felt that the tall balding gentleman was "bothered" by my coming into his establishment. He was curt and came across as agitated. He was snippy when I asked which seat he was nodding his head towards and his response was "the only open booth in the place". Thank you for that. The young man who sat me was very pleasant and had an inviting smile. There was a woman who was helping serve coffee and brought your order to the table. She was wonderful and really a ray of sunshine on a rather dreary establishment. Our food came out and was lack luster. My "3 egg omelet" was quite small - my entire meal fit on a side dish plate. The issue with this is that I got the corned beef hash omelet. I'm not sure that there was even a tablespoon of corned beef hash inside the omelet. I asked about this and the balding man was angry and snapped that this was all I would get with three eggs. He then sent another gentleman over who suggested a side of the hash. It came out with a few strands of dry meat and mostly potatoes. Nothing had any seasoning or flavor. My guest got the chicken and waffles which were two frozen waffles and two frozen chicken strips. The side of hash browns she ordered were mushy and hardly cooked through. But let's talk about the inside temperature in this place. We were seated next to the window across from the kitchen. The inside temp (which I got from an app, so not sure of the accuracy) was 105.4 degrees. It was only 104 outside at that time. The entire meal we were sweating - literally sweating - and it was just unpleasant. The only positives here are the toast and the coffee. Eat anywhere else! read more

I went there when I first moved to AZ a while back. It was called Crazy Otto's then but it should have be called Psycho Otto's. The bald guy running the place was super rude and snarky. He treated me like crap. I asked for biscuits and gravy but he said they didnt have any. Good thing I didn't get the chicken fried steak as I read two other reviews on here about how the meat was bad that they used for it. I settled for eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast. It came out in less than two minutes, no joke. My guess is that they just reheated previously cooked food and sent it to me probably from the microwave except for the eggs. It tasted no good but I tried to down it anyway because I was so hungry. I tipped the waiter which was the bald guy but realized after his rudeness and the bad food I at least wanted my tip back. He got super angry, told me to never come back and then threw me out. He did give me my tip back but only after a lot of yelling and fuss. I hope this place gets shut down soon, it's a blight on the community and an insult to the resturaunt industry. read more

saw this spot while buying some fishtank stuff on the other side of the parking lot. Asked the staff at the fishtank store what they thought and they said it was a good spot. So I gave it a try. First impression- clean, organized, and authentic "neighborhood diner." My son got a bacon-cheddar cheeseburger. It was huge, he couldn't finish it. I had half of it and it was great- juicy, meat tasted good, etc. I ordered a BLT and it was fine. Coffee was strong but smooth. Lunch for 2 with drinks came to $18 and tasted good. I had the worst experience today. My food came cold and I sent it back. They put my food with over medium eggs in the microwave and it was still cold. The manager came over and didn't apologize and got upset when I requested new eggs after putting the eggs in the microwave twice! I have been going to this place for over 5 years and the waiter David knows me and my family when we walk in. On top of that my food order was wrong and was served with an attitude from there on. I've seen this restaurant here for years but I've never stopped in, I was finally on my way to a job and hunger struck me at the same time I was passing by so I pulled in and decided to try it out. This is a pretty solid local breakfast spot. Nothing fancy but the food is tasty. Prices are a tad on the high side for breakfasts but the portions are HUGE. I recommend sharing a plate if possible. This place is not for the heart or health conscious! Coffee is farmer brothers brand and is nice and strong. Reminds me of coffee my grandparents would make. I have tried the corn beef hash an eggs on two occasions and have not been disappointed. The corn beef and hash browns were both perfectly crispy. However, I didn't eat much of the biscuits and gravy as the gravy had a weird "tang" to it. It tasted like old oil or grease. I will stick with toast next time. Had breakfast there last Saturday it was great !!! Friendly staff and very attentive while eating breakfast unfortunately someone backed into my truck. Had to wait for a tow truck we waited outside and it took some time. The staff sent us out bottles of water and also soda at no cost. We are very appreciative !! To them We are costumers for life. The owners will be losing customers with the rude waiters they have working at this establishment. Why would you keep people that have no customer service skills and unorganized. I have to say I am very disappointed with my experience today. I was brought her by my daughter a few weeks back and the food was pretty good and good service. So this morning I decided to take the wife and kids there for breakfast. Here is a break down on why I give the 1 star 1) I had to ask two time for a refill on my coffee, if the place was packed this would be a little more understandable. But it was my family of four and two other people! 2) Chicken fried steak was spoiled and the hash browns tasted mushy. I literally didn't eat anything on the plate only the eggs and toast. Was never asked why I didn't eat it. Leads me to believe they know there food is crappy. 3) The waiter guy that was in there and the old lady that was in there didn't smile once. Instead I had to listen to him complain to the laundry guy about their service that's a talk for a office not in front of your customers 4) I had to ask for my food. I found myself here staring at the menu thinking "they have whole and half omelets, what can the difference really be?" I decided that there's no way a whole omelet anywhere could beat me. I was very, very wrong. The full omelet here is truly impossibly huge. I'm rarely beaten by breakfast but, wow. The bacon and avocado that it was stuffed with was the perfect combination of flavors. Visited there last weekend with my partner. Previously I was a Waffle House fan, but I have a new favorite now. I ordered the crazy combo, which is a 1/2 order of ham, bacon and sausage (yes, all three) 2 eggs, hash browns, and toast. First I'd like to address their half order of ham. We're talking almost an inch thick 6 inch wide hunk of ham. Seriously, between the ham, bacon and sausage, there was half a pig on my plate. I have to admit that I'm anal about my eggs. I always order them over medium, and this is one of the few places that ever gets that right. I didn't order the pancakes, but I saw it on another table and it was massive. Half an inch thick and bigger than the platter it came on. I'm afraid to see their Belgian waffles. Everything was wonderful. Coffee service was borderline obsessive-compulsive. That's always a good thing. I would be giving them 5 stars but my hash browns were more mushy than I like. We'll be back again. read more

We ended up here because Cracker Barrel had a long wait and a north Phoenix Good Egg closed down..I remembered seeing this place while shopping at the Fresh and Easy across the street and always wanted to try it and was glad we did. We drove up to find it wasn't too busy which worried me lol..atmosphere reminded me of a small town diner and was bright and clean. I ordered the turkey and cheese omelette with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Food was cooked perfectly and flavorful and all I can say is come hungry because they aren't stingy with the portions.. Biscuits were huge and smothered with this awesome bacon gravy. I saw them bring out pancakes to a girl and imagine 3 medium pizzas on your plate and that's what size these pancakes were..I think she was embarrassed for having a plate with so much food lol. The place filled up after we got there but seems to be a hidden gem in this North Phx shopping center. They serve lunch but haven't tried that yet. If you want to avoid the long weekend brunch lines check Crazy Otto's out and make sure you have someone who can wheel you out lol. read more

The American love affair of breakfast = eggs has always frustrated me. It's my living version of the Monty Python spam song. Trying to substitute eggs in most places leads to the kind of look that could be expected had you asked them to reassemble an already cracked egg and push it into the hen's vent for the next diner. - So I didn't even try . I ordered a open face chili burger and hashbrowns. They'd run out of biscuits, yep that's why there's no five. No biscuits and gravy is as acceptable as unsweetened ice tea.. never:) The dish that arrived was a housing project! I am no stranger to the x3 hash browns at the Waffle Hut ( I take my bitch there after all ) but I couldn't clear my plate and nor could my wife finish hers . We're seriously thinking about splitting a plate between us next time. Coffee service was constant, almost religiously so. Don't order the pancakes! Well, unless you are going to share. They are bigger than a dinner plate. Otto himself was waiting on me and when I ordered the pancakes with scrambled and bacon he took a look at my aging self and recommended I get the kids portion which only comes with one pancake instead of 3. I still didn't finish it. Most of the omelets are available in a smaller size too. There is nothing fancy or pretentious about the food, the service or the atmosphere. Just basic and well done. Outside dining is folding chairs and tables. This is not a place you go to be alone with yourself or others in your party. All the tables are in the open and you end up talking to your neighbors and pretty soon you start to feel like one of the family. As an example of basic the check has a list of what was ordered and a total,no line item pricing no break out of tax, just a total. It works and it fits the atmosphere. I got there just before 7 on a Saturday morning and was only the second occupied table at that time. By the time I left at 7:30 it was starting to pick up. They also do take out. read more

I'm hoping that Man vs Food comes here to attempt to eat them! I tasted them and they were good. On the two times I've been here I've had the omelette. I had the avocado, bacon, cheese and just the bacon and cheese with cheddar. I have to say probably the best omelette I've ever had. Comes with a hash browns and choice if toast or biscuits and gravy. Come here early because sometimes they run out of biscuits. Great breakfast. I've only had the half order but for a dollar more get the full sized. I know I'll come back with my wife and we will end up sharing. Pretty disappointing. I visit this place often. I ordered scrambled eggs and they just mixed them on the grill...chunks of white and yellow...not what scrambled means. I asked for new eggs and the older woman couldn't care less. The new eggs came out the same way but extremely runny...almost like over easy...inedible. After original order we didn't see our server again. The best person was the young woman refilling the waters. She was pleasant and friendly and very hard working. Please work on your customer service. I'll give it one more shot and hope they were just having a bad day. read more
