We were seated and waited and waited and waited. No one even acknowledged our existence. No one came over until they saw us leaving. We told them we have been waiting a long time noticed a couple waitresses talking behind the customers and we were told they had a little trouble with the customers who were seated at our table first. I'm sorry if customers come to your restaurant they deserve to be greeted or at least an acknowledgement we got nothing not even a nod. First rule for staying in busy acknowledging your customers period. I thought Ashland had a problem getting customers to dine with today's visit I can see why. Not a fan and probably will not have repeat business. I would not recommend if you would like to have anything to eat or drink because you won't get it. Very sad. read more

Food was perfect along with great service and ice cold beer!!!!!

I was excited to eat here because I have had a great steak here in the past. Upon entering there was a crowd waiting to be seated but no host in site. After a few mins a young man appeared asked the next in line how many, when she said 5 he nervously scanned the room, looked at his book, said I'll be right back then ran away. A rather grungy looking girl finally strolled up singing to the song playing as she chopped on her gum. Asked the guest how many. She replied 5 she said it will be a few. Then went on to ask us how many. We said two and the lady with 5 said do you need our names. Hostess said I got you and showed us to our seats. I was just amazed with the lack of class and organization of this place. Always before it was like you had come to a 5 star restaurant. Not today. I ordered the 4 course special. It was decent. I ordered my steak medium and it was well done. It was ok I was glad it was small though. The coffee was delicious as was my sweet potato, grilled shrimp and salad. Our waitress was nice but the staff in general seems distracted and one poor couple was seated for 15 mins before anyone seen about them. Even then our waitress had to ask who belonged to that booth. Just a bit on the disappointed side today. Over all it was really a 2 star but gave them a three based thing on past experiences. read more

When it first opened, it was not the best restaurant by any stretch. Service was poor, food took forever and often tasted bad, and the place felt dingy. Fast forward 2016... It's much better. Service is great. The food is hot, fresh, and always taste fantastic. Can not go wrong with the blooming onion. The only issue I might have is the mixed drinks. Seem a little strong on the alcoholic side. Still a highly recommended restaurant. read more

I would give less stars if possible. Our waitress had multiple issues every table round us. I have worked in the service industry so I can tell when a server is our worked or plain just not trying. I ordered a drink 15 minutes ago, our appetizers and entrees have been brought out by other employees , hostess, runner, next time I see my server she says, "I'll bring your drink right to you" I got my drink as we were getting the check. They were "out of everything" or waiting, we were on of three couples in the entire resteraunt. It's not being over worked, just lazy. We paid for a service we were not provided. I must share an experience My husband and I had this evening at Outback in Ashland, Ky. We had a rare evening without our kiddos and decided to go to dinner and a movie. When we arrived at the restaurant we were seated fairly quickly within 10-12 minutes. Our server soon stopped by the table and asked if we knew what we wanted to eat or if we wanted her to just get our drink order. We already knew what we wanted to eat, so we placed our drink, appetizer and meal order all at once. I had a coupon for a free Bloomin' onion. We told our server this and she said, "We were out but someone went to get them but they aren't back yet." She said cheese fries could be substituted. Ok...no big deal. As soon as she walks away from our table, two servers pass within seconds of each other both carrying a blooming onion. Our server soon brought bread, water and Coke to our table. While dispensing the above she begins to tell us what a lousy evening she's had. We smile and try to make pleasant conversation. When I reach for my water glass, I feel this gooey substance on the side. I quietly told the server and requested a new glass of water. All the while trying to be polite and apologetic because she's told us what a rough evening she's had. After waiting on a few other tables, she brings back my water and soon after our Bloomin' onion. We thank her again. She makes a joke about the onion, we laugh, all is well. Fast forward 50 minutes later when every guest around us that came in well after we did has eaten, gotten their check and left or are almost finished eating. Our server comes back to the table ( our drink glasses now empty for quite sometime), she has a loaded tray. Thinking it was our food we were soon disappointed as she hands it to the table across from us and turns and asks if we've had our onion yet. My husband laughs and says, "Yes, quite sometime ago". She says something along the lines of ...oh I wondered what was taking so long. Then she says that our food is almost ready and she turns to serve the other table who has gotten many refills as they've waited. I waited for her to finish then asked if there was a problem with our order. She says they are waiting on the crab cakes that you ordered. She then leaves, comes back to the other table to bring them yet another refill while our glasses remain empty. At this point, I quietly get her attention and ask for the manager. She informs me that he is already on his way. A few minutes later Tyler enters the equation to explain to us why we are being unreasonable. We haven't even said anything for him to make this statement but he makes it nonetheless. He tells us to be patient and our food will be out in a bit. My husband tells him to just bring our check that we will pay for what we've had to that point and be done with it because it is almost 10 pm. He argues with My husband and tells him that he's going to get the food momentarily. Again, my husband insists that he bring us the check. Tyler continues to argue. My husband repeats his request another 3 times and on the final time starts to scoot towards the end of the bench to exit. Tyler attempts to prevent this and continues to tell us to be patient that he's trying to get our food and making multiple excuses. At this point, I am literally shaking from embarrassment and I say to Tyler very quietly but firmly to get the check as my husband has requested and move or I will cause a scene. Tyler immediately yells and tells us to get out of his restaurant that we were getting what we wanted free food. I immediately ask for his name and he tells me he doesn't have to give it to me. As we exit, I stop at the hostess station and ask for his name. The two hostesses clearly felt bad and told me his name. They were apologetic for something they had absolutely no control over. I asked if he was the actual manager and they said no and gave me the card of the gentleman who was. I emailed the manager immediately upon getting in our car. We went elsewhere to eat. When returning to the car, I checked my phone and returned the call of the manager. He apologized and offered to compensate us to keep our business and even if we wouldn't consider the Ashland outback to please consider Barboursville. I thanked him and told him I would pass that information along to my husband but that we truly didn't want free food that we want an apology from Tyler. It was never about free food and we certainly wouldn't expect to eat for free anywhere else. Tyler was a condescending, arrogant bully who tried to intimidate us because he could clearly see we didn't want to be the center of everyone's attention because WE tried to address each situation quietly while he was the one exerting himself in a less than professional manner. To say we will not be eating at the Ashalnd KY restaurant is probably an understatement. We were humiliated for no reason and he should be reprimanded and held accountable for his actions. read more
