So this episode of how it went at Outback for dinner is brought to you by their manager and our redo server Greg. We came to the restaurant on Mother's Day for dinner to experience what could only be adequately described as a sh*t show. The food took over an hour to get to us and some of it never made the table. The manager that night apologized for the experience and offered us a redo meal with gift cards and multiple apologies. So here we are today almost 3 weeks later giving a redo to our Mother's Day meal and tonight celebrating our 31st Wedding Anniversary. Let's start with the greeter at the front door- whom we fondly referred to as cousin iT. If you know you know. Her hair covered her face. Not a great look for a food establishment- just sayin. No smile . No welcome or glad you're here . On to the meal- We had Ahi Tuna & Coconut Shrimp appetizers. Both were delicious and came to our table with in 10 minutes. We shared a 13 oz ribeye steak with a wedge salad and sweet potato. I ordered a separate mashed potato cause why not ? The food was delicious and all of it came out on time and prepared as we expected. Greg was our waiter on both of these dinning experiences so we had fun reminiscing about it! All in all it was much better the 2nd visit. Would I recommend them? I will say this - the restaurant needs staff that Act, Dress , and actually have energy to work there . The gal at the front door had no energy. She didn't smile and really didn't act like she cared . She is the face of a restaurant that clearly needs help. There's a sign on the door . Help Wanted . Not a good look. The food is good . The servers are clearly the bread & butter so I will say proceed with caution. It's a 50-50 chance scenario.

Usually when I come to outback I get the blooming burger. Add bacon change out the cheese for cheddar. Extremely tasty burger. We did try the new special a while back. Steak was tasty kind of like I remember when I was young. Staff was right on top of us. I would definitely go back again.

Placed an online order using their website. It was super easy. The trouble came when we arrived to pick up our order. We arrived well after the promised pick up time. My friend was quickly brought her order and I was told I was waiting for a dish to finish cooking. The car next to us asked when did we order for our order to come so quickly and they had been waiting for close to and hour. We continue to wait for my food to be brought out. We noticed many other customers frustration as we sat and waited. While we waited my friend inspected her order she noticed fuzz on her ice cream and she notified the take away cashiers. We continued to wait until I couldn't take it any longer (leaning on the close to an hour mark) and I went inside to see what was happening. No one was in the take away room and the phone was ringing off the hook. A cashier came in and gave me a bag containing my food. On inspection of my food everything I ordered was ice cold and the name on the bag was incorrect. I'm pretty sure that the person who asked me my name at arrival didn't connect that the name on the bag was wrong and my food sat there and got cold while they made excuses. I brought it to Jasmine's (a take away cashier) attention and she refunded my order back. Not sure what was going on or the issue that night but the take away area was a hot mess!!! Who doesn't love a good steak and potato, I sure do... So I went to outback for my beef fix! The service was good, the restaurant was clean, my order was correct and my steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it. It wasn't very busy during my visit, but everything was to my satisfaction. I would definitely return here for another meal.

The kitchen sent out 3 wings to replace the entirety burnt first batch. I sent the remainder of the first batch back, and sadly had to wait for it to be a to go order. As I was leaving, someone who appeared to be in management sure enough, greeted the women in front of me, but stared at me as I walked out. I awkwardly said to him "have a great day" with the same enthusiasm he said to the women in front me. I work nearby and this place is close to my office. Was excited because it's right across the street from my go to car wash. Sadly won't return. Lastly for what it's worth, it takes a lot for me to right a review like this, especially for a local shop that's right in my community.

One was a small side Caesar salad which I got. I was disappointed in the continuing practice for restaurants to charge for small changes like this within informing the customer. The wings were AMAZING, and the sliders were absolutely delicious! They were so good that I devoured them before I even thought to take a picture! Unfortunately, the pierogies were the one disappointment, especially since they were actually the main reason I decided to order from here. They were a bit too greasy for my taste. After eating two, I ended up placing the rest on a paper towel to absorb some of the excess oil, which unfortunately made them less enjoyable. That being said, I would definitely eat at The Degenerate again. I'd happily order the wings and sliders again, but I would probably skip the pierogies next time unless they're one of those dishes that are simply better enjoyed fresh at the restaurant rather than as takeout. Overall, there were definitely more hits than misses, and those sliders and wings alone are worth another visit!

We had a reservation for a Monday dinner on my husband's birthday, which happened to also be 1/2 priced wine day (glasses or bottles up to $40). Maybe it was because of the affordable wine or the World Cup on TV, but the place was surprisingly bumpin'. We came with our toddler, and the staff were super friendly with her. She really enjoyed snacking on the complimentary crackers and cheese spread. My husband and I decided to share the dinner special for 2, which is a 10 oz filet mignon, 2 lobster tails, and 4 sides for $178. A delicious splurge! For our sides, we chose a Caesar salad, cheesy fried potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, and balsamic brussels sprouts. The steak was so tender and savory. Absolutely loved it. Definitely one of the best steaks I've had in the city! After our meal, our server brought a complimentary dessert, a layered mousse cake, served in a martini cake with a candle to celebrate my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, this Restaurant Week visit was nothing like the Eddie V's I remembered. I dined solo at the bar and actually had to ask for the Restaurant Week menu. I chose the upgraded lobster bisque (+$5) and Chilean sea bass (+$10), looking forward to treating myself. I rarely splurge on a nice dinner, so this was something I had been excited about all day. The food was mixed. The lobster bisque was flavorful, although the amount of lobster was surprisingly small. The mashed potatoes were outstanding, and the asparagus was very good. The Chilean sea bass was cooked well but lacked seasoning and wasn't the memorable entrée I expected. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. The restaurant was less than half full during my visit, so the extended delays were especially surprising. I waited an unusually long time for my entrée while guests who arrived after me were served first. Another surprise was that the only restroom I was directed to required going down to the basement, which was difficult with my mobility issues (I need my knee replaced). I would encourage the restaurant to make it clearer whether there is an accessible restroom available on the main floor, as this could be challenging for many guests. After another long wait for dessert, I asked to have my crème brûlée boxed because the delays meant I would now be walking back to my hotel after dark. I explained that I had intentionally walked there for exercise and had planned to walk back before dark. The response I received was simply, "Just call an Uber." That completely missed the point. I wasn't asking for transportation--I was explaining how the delays had changed my evening. To add to the confusion, I was given two desserts instead of the one I requested. While I appreciate the gesture if it was intended that way, it reinforced the feeling that no one was really listening. What disappointed me most wasn't simply the wait. It was the complete lack of service recovery. No sincere apology, no acknowledgment of how long I'd waited, and no effort to make the experience feel special. I've always thought of Eddie V's as one of Charlotte's premier dining experiences. That's exactly why this visit was so disappointing. I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience because I'd like to remember Eddie V's for the exceptional restaurant it has been in the past.
