I have been to Outback Steakhouses quite a few times growing up but this was an extraordinary experience. For one, I live under a rock and did not know that Outback is an Australian-based restaurant. So for Aussie Day, my friend invited me to join her at Outback Steakhouse and I was quite confused on the connection. Don't worry, I get it now. She had reserved three large tables in the middle of the restaurant for our celebration. The waiting staff was so nice and so patient with us, from beginning to end. We were there almost 30 minutes early but they let us sit down anyways. The fact that the tables were already ready for us was just as impressive. Their cocktails looked really good and I debated between the Pina Koala and the Strawberry Kiwi 'Rita. I asked the server which one was better--without hesitation, she said the Strawberry Kiwi 'Rita is better so that's just the one I ordered. She was right--the drink was absolutely delicious! The one downside is it would be nice to have a bigger straw. The chunks of strawberry were a bit difficult to slurp up. One of the people in our party decided to order the bloomin' onion. I am so glad he did because I forgot how good these are! It would've been nice if it came with more sauce, however. Only one little cup for the whole onion is a bit crazy. There are so many options with Outback's menu. I really had no idea what I wanted to order except for all of it. I was initially set on ordering the filet mignon but changed my mind last minute and ordered the sirloin with chicken. I am so glad I did because their chicken is a whole experience--it is delicious! I got the loaded mashed potatoes and a caesar salad for my two sides. Admittedly, there is another steakhouse chain that you can probably guess, that does a much better job with their salads. My salad wasn't bad but it wasn't cut very well, had quite a few bad pieces of lettuce, and lacked in sauce. Again, wasn't bad, just wasn't amazing either. The loaded mashed potatoes were really good! I actually meant to order the loaded baked potato. I am not sure what happened but this was still a delicious side. As aforementioned, the service during this experience was pretty phenomenal. Everyone was so nice with us and kept a really good attitude. Though, I am sure it was stressful having this many people at once. I don't live anywhere even relatively close to Layton, but I would visit again if I am in the area. I highly recommend checking out this Outback--they are awesome!!

Aussie deal with cheesecake. This lured me in to no avail

Love their lunch menu We had a great server Steak was delicious. They (Layton Utah) don't seem to honor the email deals from Outback (i.e14.99 Aussie deal).... but I'll live.

Did a family dinner outing, as we were craving steak! Was hoping it wasn't busy as it was a Friday night. We got there around 7:00 and got right in. It was a little busy but there was no wait, which was great! Our waitress came to our table and took our drink orders. She brought out complimentary bread, which was warm and delish. She was very tentative and always checked on us. The entrees we ordered were great portions and great flavor! By the time we left around 8ish the restaurant was pretty empty. Overall Outback was a great choice for a Friday night family dinner!

I usually don't complain about chains anymore because since 2020 standards are drastically low, but this was embarrassing. I ordered to-go & I really wish the restaurant would have the same integrity with to-go orders as they do dining in. The chicken breast was pathetic, the toppings for the baked potato were nearly non existent and everything was cold despite me arriving right on time.

Take Out: Chocolate Thunder from Down Under.

Curbside Order: Food/dessert was excellent. Curbside service was spot on and early. Employee was nice and pleasant.

Chicken fingers and fries and there special ranch

As with most large chains the food is ubiquitous across all locations. I had the sirloin steak which was a bit over cooked.

Even in 90-degree-weather days, the coolness from the fountains splashing and numerous nearby trees and bushes make the experience very pleasant with even a slight breeze. The entrees are reasonably priced and very tempting, it's a challenge to choose what to eat. My suggestion? Give the wait staff an idea of your favorites and ask them to make a suggestion. Both times I've been here, I ordered what they suggested and it was amazing. The seafood, sauces and flavors are elegant and well executed. They have lots of options for seafood lovers and those who love it less. On my latest trip, I got the Prawn Scampi. The spaghettini noodles were cooked al dente, the butter garlic sauce was delicious, and when you combined them with a grape tomato, a part of the asparagus heart, and one of the prawns it was a taste symphony! A tip! Sometimes they have special where if you show them a ticket to a movie at the nearby Cinemark theater, they'll give you a free appetizer. I got the Seafood Chowder. Everything was on point from the start. The staff were wonderful, welcoming, cheerful and very helpful. I could tell the staff were having fun but also working together as a tight knit group. It was quite impressive. I started with a local beer, the Cerveza Roja by Ogden Beer Co., which was very refreshing and touch darker than other Mexican beers, which I really liked. I also ordered The Burger, medium, with fries and let me tell you it was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Again, everything was on point. The patty was probably one of the thickest patties I've recently seen in a burger, all the ingredients were fresh, the meat was quality, and perfectly cooked (my mouth just started watering as I write this), along with the fries. The brioche bun was soft and actually smaller than the burger and ingredients combined which is usually the opposite nowadays. Seriously perfect. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, again perfect, and The Hole In One (Bourbon drink), also very tasty. They also have a nice variety of mocktails as well. Next time I'd like to try something else but not sure I can pass up that burger. The staff all had different favorites so that should tell you there's a lot of other great choices to try. I can't stress enough how amazing the staff and my server were. I also found out who the owners were and could see they totally set the example for everyone working there. The whole crew ran around helping each other out and expediting like a well oiled machine but fast and nimble. I had to let the owners know on my way out as well. I know where I'll be eating on my next trip to Ogden. Cheers!

The flavor palette is just absolutely exquisite and will justify your coming here. ...and on that note. I had to wait what felt like an epoch for my delicious, chicken-y reward, and despite the size of the restaurant and relatively tame level of busy-ness, wait staff still took their sweet time and did not get bread out in a timely fashion. The ambiance is like 'millennial interior design final boss' - imagine being trapped within the pages of Magnolia Table, and everyone looks and sounds like the first Google results for 'hipster'. I wouldn't mention this if the smarminess of staff didn't compound the frustration of having to wait forever for like three pieces of bread. So, if you're in the area and have a refined palette that craves rich, delicious flavors against a backdrop of open French windows, I'd say go for it. The food definitely outcompetes the annoyance I felt. But seriously, get the chicken sandwich.

When we arrived, we were told there would be a 45-minute wait, which was understandable. Since there was a wait, we asked if we could sit at the bar instead. We could clearly see a few open seats together, but the hostess told us, "There's no room." I pointed out the empty seats, and she replied, "You can sit there, but you might not get service." I then asked if food service was available at the bar, and she said it was -- but that it would still take at least 45 minutes to get food. We sat down briefly, but the bar area was dirty, and honestly, the interaction left us feeling unwelcome. The tone and attitude from the hostess came across as if she really didn't want us eating there at all. So we decided to leave. That was the disappointing part -- because we actually enjoyed the food during our previous visit. Unfortunately, customer service can completely change the experience, and this time it did.

Recently we had a not so great experience at a chain steak house and this more than made up for it . Worth the drive from Slc for sure . Bobbi was our server and she is the best we've had . Kept up with fresh bread and a carafe of ice tea. She was super personable and fun . The bread to start off was very fresh , soft and with the butter- chefs kiss. 3 of us got Salads and I chose the French onion soup . The broth was delicious and even though it was packed with flavor -surprisingly light. Salads were hearty and veggie forward . 3 of us got steak plates but have to mention how huge the county fried steak was -with an option of country gravy or brown gravy . That definitely will keep you full . The steaks were juicy-cooked, to perfection. My snow crab kept me occupied for most of my meal but I rarely get the option to add crab to a meal so why not. It was absolutely fantastic with the butter . We all left with doggy bags . I also had made a reservation a week before we knew we were going to visit as from photos I was not able to tell how big it was. It actually is quite huge . There are covered wagons that seat up to 10 , a private banquet area and table tops available. The decor is fun and you can actually walk around to see more of it . Since we had a reservation we didn't have to wait but there is a bar in the front incase you wish to grab a quick drink while waiting for your table . If you're a steak lover and have an appetite, definitely add Prairie Schooner to your list . I can definitely see it being a popular spot for Mothers /Fathers day and celebrations . Perhaps even take on their 20 oz Porterhouse and pair it with one of their cast iron desserts to celebrate. Until next time , Thank you for the great dining experience.!
