Any time we go to the Layton Outback they ruin a steak. We like our steaks cooked all the way through - Well Done - but not burnt. Most of the time my steak is perfect and my wife's steak is oozing blood or burnt. If we send it back to the kitchen, they nuke it and it comes back a tough piece of shriveled up steak. As a bit of a Coloradan beer snob, we got off on the wrong foot with the draft beer selection,.So I went with a tried and true Sam Adams Rebel IPA bottle. After all, this is Utah. I knew prior to going in here that I wanted the steak salad, that I've had before at other locations and was great. So I put my order in right away after receiving my beer. They delivered the salad to me and I never heard back from server, when in fact the steak was overdone and not medium rare as I requested. I was hungry though and I had my Rebel to keep me company while perched at the bar. I never saw the waiter again except through the window into the back room. The bartender took over at that point, but never asked how it was. So here I am staring into my Yelp app., letting you and the management know that the service was okay and the salad was okay as well. Sadly enough, I've seen this happen with a number of Outback restaurants. They are starting to look dated. What used to be a Snappy steak chain endorsed by Paul Hogan ( the Crocodile Hunter) now seems to be fading Into the sunset with so many other chain restaurants. read more

I've came to this location very frequently since I was a young child with my family, and we have a lot of great memories here. We miss the alligator that used to hang on the wall! Outback is a decently priced steakhouse with great food! I usually get the Mac & cheese but for the first time in forever I tried something new and got the philly and it was DELISH! I love Philly cheesesteak so this was a good meal for me to indulge in! I wasn't even aware they had them! I do not remember the waiters name, but he was extremely friendly, and was very courteous. July 22, 2021, I couldn't remember the exact time but it was after 8:00 PM. We went to your branch in Layton with address 1664 N Heritage Park Blvd, Layton, UT 84041 for dinner to celebrate my son's birthday. "Josie", was attending to our orders. I ordered coffee with "cream" and "sugar". So, she got us our drinks and my coffee but without the "cream" and "sugar". Its okay. Maybe she forgot. So I waited for her to come around. Then I asked for it again. She said "she'll bring it over". I see her serving other tables and that took over 5-10 minutes and I still don't have the condiments and my coffee is getting cold. While she was serving the other table next to ours, I asked her again and I said my coffee is getting cold. She said "she'll bring you another order of coffee". I said I do not want another coffee I want my cream and sugar! She went to our table and said "she's a little bit busy and she's the only one there" WITH AN ATTITUDE! Then when she came back and handed the condiments, I was making sure I get her name by trying to read it so I can report the unfriendly attitude towards customers. And then, again, with an attitude she said "ANYTHING ELSE?" So, my family decided to just have our celebration somewhere else so we asked for the bill for what we already consumed. Your cashier was kind enough to inquire if we were okay. I told her how unfriendly "Josie", the waiter was. Everything could've been okay if she just apologized. But nothing! She wasn't apologetic. It doesn't look like its in her nature. It was very disappointing specially when you go out to one of your favorite places to eat then someone like your server messes up the evening. I believe she should undergo more training on customer service. Or better of, not put her in front of customers. I cannot let this go. Went for a midweek meal. Had strawberry peach Sangria which was very good. My partner had a margarita that was nice and strong. Salads were good, a little small. Chelsea our fabulous waitress, she did a very good job! Both of us had filets that were cooked perfectly. Tried them for a lunch date with my husband and our little man. Where to begin? We walked in & was being seated & a man was complaining to the waitress his steak was over cooked. We got seated & ordered our food,drinks & a blooming onion for an appetizer. She brought out the wrong drinks. She brings our appetizer & we fast ran out of dip & the waitress was nowhere to be seen. My husband cuts open his $30 steak & its soo under cooked it mooed at him. He wanted medium & it was rare & just not going to work. She brings a small little cup of A1 for 3 people to share I guess. We explain the steak is way under cooked. Then I'm guessing a manager comes over & says is there a problem? Didnt introduce himself or say sorry just took the plate and they both walk off. I still have no salt & pepper & my baked potato hardly has any butter & wasnt served with a side butter like most places. My steak was over cooked it was to be medium and it's well done. My son is the only one at the table with good food. His chicken was cooked nicely and tasted good. The manager? And the waitress bring back my husbands steak & it's still not medium,but we are done with this back & forth nonsense. He asked for A1, I asked for salt & pepper,but forgot to ask for butter. So at this point I just used the butter from the bread & try to enjoy my dry potato & my over cooked steak. Looong story short, this steak house can't cook a steak, dont provide or ask if you need condiments or salt & pepper. Waitress was untrained & struggling to handle 4 tables. I ordered from here while staying at the hotel next door. I did an online order and my food was ready within 20 minutes. I asked for ketchup up on arrival and he said it was in the bag but after getting to the room, I realized there was no ketchup and no utensils for my Mac n cheese or my salad. Thankfully the hotel had some in the lobby. The Mac n cheese was just ok but our burgers were good. The salad would've been better had they given me ranch dressing like requested instead of blue cheese. I would eat here again but next time check my bag before leaving to make sure I have everything I need. read more

The food was decent but way over priced and although the server was super nice they were overworked and didn't provide us with baking or silverware. Always a joy to enter an outback. The bread is honestly so good and most of the reason I crave to visit. I always end out taking my steak home because I get so full off of the appetizers and bread; plus they give us salad and soups before the steak so it just ends up being a late night snack which is always better with their garlic butter. DROOL. The manager there was very pleasant and was actively looking around the dining room and visually helping all of the staff members. So glad to see everyone staying safe in covid times as well. We ordered dinner for four. Three of us were happy. My "rare" blooming burger was WAY over cooked and the blooming pedals were cooked in stale oil...yuck!! I had to scrape them off and leave them! Thank goodness I turned away the fries....likely fried in the same stale oil! Our waiter only talked to us once and was very rude the entire time and had to ask other waiters for we had a question. They brought the wrong drink out and were annoyed when I asked for the right drink. They brought out our steak and it was still completely raw (I ordered medium well). They didn't even put the people order in for the people next to us and didn't realize after they had already been waiting for an hour. also waited another 30 minutes before they brought our card back. MOUTH WATERING FOOD!!! In the past I have not been a fan of the Outback franchise. However, for a family celebration we ended up coming here. I ordered the lobster tail, baked potato, and broccoli... boy, I was satisfied!! The broccoli was huge and cooked incredibly well, the lobster was tender/juicy, and the baked potato was off the hook! Everyone in my party enjoyed their food and the blooming onion appetizer we ordered. This location was absolutely wonderful, our waiter was playful, knowledgeable, and speedy. Really I have fell completely in love with outback and it's become my go to relax after work. I usually sit at the bar and have great conversation with some of the employees or other bar guests. I was suggested to try the garlic topping on the steak and they were so frightened. My food is always hot and delicious, they must have some great cooking staff, on top of that their waiters are always friendly and helpful. Our experience at Outback Steakhouse was one of the poorer restaurant experiences I have had. I'll start from the beginning. This may be a 2.5 stars. We arrived about 5:15 on a Friday night. We were seated as soon as we walked through the door. Perks of coming early, I guess! They may have been understaffed because the guy that sat us appeared to be dressed as a bus boy and not a host. He brought our menus, but he didn't bring silverware, napkins, or the high chair we requested for our little one. This is where it started getting interesting. There was a group across from our table that quickly flagged down the guy that sat us and asked if he could get their waiter/waitress. He said he would. A few minutes passed and our waitress still hadn't come to ask for drink orders and the other table's waitress hadn't come either. We were busy looking over our menus but the other table appeared to have been there a long time as they kept asking any worker where the waitress was. Other groups around us had waiters and waitresses serving them but still no one had come to us or the table across from us. Finally after probably 15-20 minutes the waitress (who served our table and the other table) finally showed up and said no one had told her that they had sat anyone at her tables (this could have been the understaffed issue that I noted above). She finally took our drink orders and went away. Probably another 5-10 minutes passed before we got our drinks. So, what we thought was a quick seating ended up being more of a 20-30 minute wait. I'm not even sure how long the other table had been waiting. Don't get me wrong, the staff that had helped us was very nice, but there seemed to be an overall lack of communication or responsibility throughout the whole restaurant. We put in our orders and had a pretty decent wait. 20 minutes or so, but you would expect that with steaks that were cooked to order. Our steaks were really good! Nothing incredible, but I enjoyed the juiciness of mine. I was disappointed in my fries. First off, there weren't many, and with a name like "Aussie Fries" I was expected a little more than what seemed to have come out of a freezer and cooked. My wife went to the bathroom and came back saying it was disgusting and worse than a gas station bathroom. One toilet overflowing, the next stall with toilet paper all over the floor, and a very dirty bowl. Yikes. Overall, the food was decent, but the long waits, the lack of communication/responsibility throughout the restaurant, and the dirty bathroom is what pushes me to give Outback Steakhouse the above rating. After our server brought our food, she never came back. The manager did come by to check on us at which point we asked for some much needed drink refills. He let out a frustrated sigh and said "Ok." He brought our ketchup and nearly threw it on the edge of the table saying "Here." as he ran by our table. I ordered Togo online to be picked up at 7:20, it wasn't ready until 7:30. I ordered the filet with the bloomin onion topping and got horseradish topping instead, no eggs on my Cobb salad and no utensils even though i specifically requested them. They also forgot the soda with one of the kids meals. I don't expect much from Outback anymore but that's a lot to go wrong with one order. The steaks were cooked properly though. The worst service I have ever had at a restaurant! We didn't get asked for drinks till 10 minutes after being there, they took another 20 minutes to get our food order, on top of that it took 30 min plus to actually get our food after we ordered it and once we received it it was cold. Order my meals for Curbside pickup. Arrived at the Curbside area and called the main number to the restaurant as there is no Curbside Phone Number posted in the area. Once I was able to speak to someone I was placed on hold for 10 minutes. Really, 10 minutes and no one came back on the phone to offer assistance. I went inside the Curbside area and no one was there. I then went in to the main front entrance and identified myself to the hostess and told her I was here to pick up my Curbside Order. To me she seemed confused so I asked her to please let me speak to a Manager. A gentleman wearing an apron came up front but he did not identify himself. He asked me for my name. He walked back in to the kitchen and returned immediately with my order. Obvious to me my order had been ready for some time as it took him no time at all to return with it. I said thank you and left. When I got home everything was; well, not even warm. This could be the new normal with the Pandemic. My new normal will be to order from other Steakhouses before I order Curbside from Outback again. read more
