My husband and I went to Outback Steakhouse at 31988 US Hwy 19 N., Palm Harbor for dinner. When we arrived rather than the hostess asking us first if we prefer a table at the bar or restaurant area? She immediately wanted to seat us in the Bar area. I told her that we prefer to dine in the restaurant area. She graciously gave us a nice booth in the restaurant area and I thanked her. It's hard to relax and enjoy my dinner listening to a bunch of loud drinkers. I have not been to an Outback in years and I was taking aback on how dark it is inside. After being seated with our menus, three different servers came to our table, one asked if we have been waited on another asked what we would like to drink and never came back. Finally our server came with our drinks and he looked unhappy, he never smiled and seriously acted like he did not want to be there. When he brought the bread to the table, it was cold and stale! In hindsight that is when we should have got up and left the restaurant. Unfortunately we didn't , I ordered the chicken on the barbie, the chicken was okay, the vegetable medley, carrots, squash etc., were uncooked, hard to chew and had zero taste or flavor. My husband ordered his steak medium and it was well done. My husband told the server his steak was well done and the server who had no expression on his face offered to have a new steak cooked for him. My husband declined due to it taken awhile to get two simple entrees out let alone the service was slow and it was not very busy. This restaurant has run its course and it is not like it use to be years ago, pretty much like everything else these days. We are out and have no desire to go back to Outback. Worst Outback meal ever. The "bloomin' onion" was extremely greasy and could only taste black pepper in the breading and the sauce. In the past the onion was sweet and it was 50% less greasy. I seemed like the oil was not hot enough. My burger was loaded with slimy lettuce and tomato: my guess is that it was taken off a dressed salad.The bun was stale and hard. I had to repeat it to her literally 5 times and it was a basic sirloin cooked medium well with no seasonings, a salad, and sweet potato. When I received it, it was bloody and loaded with grizzle. I ordered a deliver through Outback's website. The order was cold when it arrived. The rude delivery driver announced to my company that I had put in the wrong address. When I checked the bag the address was correct. The order did not come as requested either. I called the restaurant to try to get things cleared up. They said that even though the order was placed through their website it was not their fault on the delivery being late and cold because they have to outsource their deliveries. Ordered Aussie Twisted Ribs & Bloomin Fried Chicken (lunch portion). They were both gems, tried for the first time, & delicious. The ribs were tender, juicy, & flavorful. The BBQ sauce was heavy on the ladle so in the future I'll request "dry" with the sauces on the side, which they'll do. The Mrs. and I went here since we had a gift card. We normally stay away from the chain places but since we havE had a so many bad experiences with other ones we were leery to go here. We did the only line call ahead and thIs was a great feature as they were telling those that walked in that it would be 30 minutes. We got there 10 minutes ahead of time and they actualLy got us a table 5 minutes early. We were sat in the bar and our server Drew was awesome. Friendly, polite and witty made for a fun interaction. I found an Outback Gift card that I receivedany years ago. I didn't notice it was expired until I got to the restaurant. I felt so bad because I couldn't afford to pay. Manager Tia was amazing! Tia personally can to our table and told me that she would honor the expired card. We were surprised when she accepted an expired gift card!!! When you are on a fixed income you cannot afford a weekly lunch with friends. Every week my friend invite me to meet at Applebee's. I never go. I suggested we try Outback because I have a gift card. The quality of food and service has declined. The Blooming onion is small. Our Caesar salad was not tossed. The house salad was drowned in dressing. When our food was served it took several minutes for anyone to ask if we needed anything and then several more minutes to get our beverage refill and A-1 sauce. My daughter ordered a 12 oz. Ribeye with shrimp to share with her 2 year old. She ordered it medium rare and it was served medium well to well. Our server ordered a new steak (probably 15 minutes after everyone else's meals were served) but by that time the 2 year old needed to eat so she started feeding him the well done steak. When the manager Krista delivered the steak several minutes later she was unhappy that the 2 year old had eaten half of the steak. They did take the steak off the check, but overall the experience was not good and I doubt we will return.
