We eat at outback quite a bit when traveling, therefore we are very familiar with their fare. We were terribly diss appointed with this location. We had the unlimited shrimp. They were out of 2 kinda of the endless shrimp- leaving one over breaded type. So- we couldn't eat anymore, than he told me the unlimited shrimp add on for my meal was $6.00, and it was actually $9.00. They didn't tell us they were out of the unlimited shrimp until after our apps & salads were done, or we would have gone somewhere else since we really both wanted lots of scampi I tried their new Piña Colada that was supposed to have a floater of fresh macerated pineapple, and a slice- it also had neither items in it. So last night, me and hubby we're thinking where do we go at 8 p.m. on St. Patt's Day without a running into a crowd? We ran the usual suspects through our brains and finally settled on Outback in Westminster. We decide to sit at the bar and order drinks first while we browse the menu. I order the Shiraz and hubby orders a beer. As always, I am trying to watch the "waste-line," so I ordered the seared Ahi Tuna as an entree instead of an appetizer and hubby orders the chicken sandwich and he orders the tuna also. He gave me a taste of his chicken sandwich later and it was oh so good. Grilled chicken with all the fixings. The bartender, John, said he recognized me (this happens every where I go) from Lo Do. He used to work at Rock Bottom downtown. I tell him I used to work at a popular men's salon there and he goes, "Oh yeah, that is where I remember you from." Anyway, I've had a better meal and way better wine. I think next year on St. Patt's Day we should really do it right and go to Fado's. Yeah, I miss Lo Do. I am definitely more Urban than hubby. With huge marketing departments, they're very good at presenting themselves, but in the process create an image it's hard for them to live up to. Despite the crowded parking lot, we only waited a minute or two. Our table was clean, a nice break from the sticky tables I've been getting lately. I got a lunch special: Steak on Foccacia bread. I ordered a Caesar salad with it. The portions were small, the lettuce wilted. The sandwich was ok. The high. Point was a small bowel of gravy that was tasty and didn't seem to have unwanted extra ingredients. My companion fared better, ordering steak with a baked sweet potato. The sweet potato was the high point of the meal, as others have noted. But that's pretty lame for a steak house. The service was perfunctory, but punctual. Chain restaurants just aren't my thing. I had their steak and lobster special. A 6oz sirloin and grilled lobster tail. I usually get good food there. But this time the steak was overcooked and tough as shoe leather. I just have to laugh! LMAO!!! First of all, if you come here on a Friday or Saturday night, your are guaranteed at least an hour wait. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less, but never a little less. Knowing that, we waited with our party of 8 in the front doors (thank goodness for the heater in the doorway) for roughly an hour - this wasn't my idea, but with out of town folk who wanted to eat here, we waited patiently. Time flew by only because I was people watching and listening. Being stuck in the front entrance you get to see and hear everything that goes on in the initial 30 seconds or entry. I must say, there are some either naive or just plain stupid people that came through the door asking "uh, how long is the wait?" Really?!?! You can't guess? Well, by the looks at the 40 or so people already waiting inside and out, well, your wait is going to be a long one. I love the look on their faces when they're told the wait time (~55-65min) as most storm out of the building saying "that is just ridiculous!" What do you expect? Express service? A VIP line? No people, this is Outback, a chain just like Olive Garden that has a waiting list that seems miles long on a weekend. Sheesh. Anyhow, enough about my observations (and rant), I didn't give this place 3 stars because of my above statements, I gave it that rating because the service is still mediocre, although our server did keep up with the drinks and bread, he was still zombie-like with his expressionless face and no follow up such as, "how is your meal?". He knew he was getting his 18% off the bat. Oh well, the food was pretty average at best as my steak was under cooked. I actually prefer rare plus (just a little searing on the outside), but that at places like Capital Grille where the cut is just a little better. Therefore, I opted for medium here and my steak came rare plus anyhow - oh well. My potato was rock hard. I felt like I needed a chainsaw to cut through it. But the best part was my salad. The veggies were fresh and there was just enough dressing. I think this was my 3rd time in life eating at an Outback Steakhouse... Not really much to say, except that I was really pleased with both the service and the food! Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive (but not annoyingly so). It was a crowded Saturday night (it's the suburbs people. This is where people go...) yet we were bumped up on the list since we had called earlier and put our names down, though they do not take reservations. It's just a shorter wait. I've been here several times over the last few years. Outback is a great steakhouse pretty much wherever you go. However, my last time there I did have my first notably bad experience. The service was fantastic as usual, but the cuts on 2 separate orders of NY Strips were absolutely terrible. They both had gristle running right through the middle of them! It was one of the most disappointing moments that I've ever had with such a general expectation of a good steak. The manager had told us that to cut some dollars, corporate now changed the processing from 100% hand cut steaks to automated. Apparently, this was a bad batch because they were two of the worst cut pieces that I'd ever seen. The rest of it was as pleasant as usual. Because of the long standing relationship that Outback and I have, they retain the 3 star as a sign of respect. What do you say about Outback that everyone doesn't already know? This particular location is clean, service is fine, food is consistent. They are stepping up their happy hour. Right now they offer two for one drinks but no food specials. They are gonna add food specials to that soon. What I like about this chain steakhouse is that they season their meat but not too much. If you know steak, it shouldn't be season much or not at all (depending on the cut) if it is good beef. It is still my favorite chain steakhouse although I haven't tried Ted's Montana grill that my friends rave about. read more

Our steaks were just about perfect: Done exactly as specified, extremely tender, very flavorful. The grilled shrimp appetizer was also excellent: Juicy, flavorful, with light, appropriate seasoning. about eight good-size (not jumbo) shrimp to a serving. I could easily make a meal out of a few more of them. Service was quite all right: attentive, and pleasant. Everything came out fairly quickly. The ambiance is of course pseudo-Australian (it's their thing), but not overwhelming and not silly. Overall, our visit was quite enjoyable. For comparison, I'd say the steak was noticeably better than Texas Roadhouse (which is very good). Outback's slightly more expensive, but at least I can hear myself think. I've never been to a TX Roadhouse that wasn't deafening, and didn't feel like I was one of as many seatings as possible to be crammed in to the space and time available. Not like that here, at all. Now, about that extravagant - for me - rating. It's not really a 5-star place by my personal rankings; I've been to maybe 3 of those in my life, and they tend to be rather more extreme (and expensive) experiences. I used it here because I felt I had to do something to raise the average of this place; it seems to have been given a bad rap by people who come in saying "I don't like chains, never will" and then find something to complain about. Service, Quality AND Presentation have ALL slipped at the Outback. Robot-like service has already been mentioned by others: not bad, just... Disinterested and Uninteresting. Their prices have gone up (minimally, but still...) and portions have gotten smaller. Apparently, they no longer hand-cut their steaks, and the quality of the beef suffered. And they have a clever way to get rid of their "about to go bad" tenderloin: Put it on 3-4 different menu items, all toting "Sliced Roasted Tenderloin" and all that are available "When Available" ... which translates to "When our Tenderloin in the 'fridge is about to go bad" and also means "We Don't Ever Have This Item." I had the 6oz Sirloin with Scallops over Mango Salsa with a Sweet Potato. The Sweet Potato was the shining star of this place. The steak was a tad overcooked but not gristly as others have complained. The scallops, which I had been randomly craving for a week, were overcooked but still devoured them. (A craving is a craving.) But the issue was really the presentation... It was literally as if the food had been slapped on the plate. Just no care. The man's Teriyaki Sirloin was "Good." (That's a direct quote.) The teriyaki flavor wasn't very strong, and again, the Sweet Potato was the shining star. We both polished them off. His Caesar Salad filled literally half the plate it was presented on. It was insulting... I mean... It's just lettuce. It's cheap. Load that plate up, Baby! Plus: All through our meal we had to listen to the table next door's ordeal of under/overcooked food and manager visits to beg forgiveness and offer freebies etc, etc, etc. Kudos to the manager for making the effort to speak to the table, but un-Kudos to making it the evening's Live Stage Show for everyone nearby. We left without dessert, and will go back just to spend the rest of the Gift Card we were given. read more

So the service here is great and deserve more than 3 stars, but the quality of the meat, not so. We got 2 NYs and BOTH had grisle down the middle... I'm sorry but if I wanted to cut around my meat I would have ordered a T-bone. Spoke with the our waitress (Karma) who was very on top of our drinks I might add, and she brought over the manager (James). James told us that they have now gone (to save $$) to no longer hand cutting their meat and it is all automatic so you do not have anyone noticing that that should not be served. I would recommend you specifically ask when you order for them to keep an eye out for the grisle cuz other than that the food was great :) read more

Me and my boyfriend rode our bikes to outback a few weeks ago not even thinking where we would park them. When we got there the manger was hosting and I asked if she knew where we could leave our bikes. Right away she came outside and started looking around for places to leave them. We found a perfect spot and were seated quickly. We got bread right away which at other locations I haven't got any without asking first. Our server was fast and friendly. He even checked with the kitchen 3 times for nuts in one of the cakes. The food was delicious. I got my steak medium rare but it was definitely closer to medium. I brought my daughter in for early dinner. Because if you get after 6 on a Sunday, you are waiting quite a while for your steak. Anyways, I got the tortilla soup as my substitute for salad, and when it was brought out, I apparently asked incorrectly for a "service roll up". You know, when you go to ANY other steakhouse the give you a menu and a cloth napkin with your knife and two forks in it. Apparently at this location, you get your fork and knife when your entree comes out. Meanwhile I tried to eat my soup but it is difficult without being to wipe away the melted cheese from my beard. I feel like if you restaurant policy changes, you should at least offer you patrons napkins when they sit down, rather than when their entrees come out. This is the second time that we have gotten Branden as our server and the second time he has told us that there is no Happy Hour even though the Outback web site states that the happy hour is from 3pm to 6pm on Fridays (we sat down about 4:45pm). Fantastic Food! Spectacular Service! I had the Bone-in Ribeye, and my wife had the Ahi Salad. Both were wonderful and prepared perfectly. And they have added so many wonderful sides to the menu like the steakhouse mac & cheese, and garlic parmesan fries. The service was off the chart thanks to awesome Alyssa! We had a seemingly never-ending series of requests, including viewing the US open finals (boohoo Federer) and Alyssa accommodated them all with great energy and a wonderful smile. The ambiance is fun, there is a lot of neat stuff to look at. The food is bad, as in will make you sick. I had the chicken tenders at around 8:00 pm. We went here to try something different. Granted the food was cooked well, and tasted good. However the waitress needs to work on her service skills. She took my salad away as I was eating it, I just made room on the table for my entree. It was gone before I knew it. She also was fondling my French Fries after they fell Off my plate and onto the waiter tray. I trust the kitchen has clean hands but s server after she has the waiter tray in her hands, and taking our order in her book. She was also ignoring the level of drinks for the others in my dinner party. I like to call that the tip meter. My drink should not get below half before I'm asked for a refill. I was disappointed on my last visit. I got curbside takeaway and I requested a couple of apps that were omitted from the order. I waited awhile for the order that I had called in ahead of time, I had to ask for bread to add to my order. The app is frustrating as well. Service is terrible. We have been going to this Outback for 9 years but they really made my wife mad. We were seated by 6:11 pm on February 8, but had not received our food in over an hour. Four times the waiter said our food would be out in a few minutes. I even asked if I could get a salad since the food service was very slow and was told the food would be out in a few minutes. Five tables that were seated after us but adjacent received their appetizer, salad, and entrees. We just had a horrible waiter and I think he forgot to put in our order. the manager was Sydney Bork. her answer was to have us wait for the food but we declined after an hour and 10 minutes. read more

Service is not a priority here. The waiter doesn't care what you are saying. We had to wait for silverware after salads were delivered. Food comes soon after they set down the salad. Steak was great but potato was very dry. Original waiter doesn't bring food and waits until you are half way done before checking on you.
