We've been here under the previous management and new owners new menu. Pricy yes, but our experience was amazing. The most incredible ambience and view. Good wine Bourbon and Cocktail menu. Incredible friendly and professional service. Our server was excellent and although super busy she had a smile the whole time. The menu showcase the steaks and Entrees for sure. I read one of the reviews about the pork chop, well mine was cooked perfectly and stuffed with a thin layer of cheese, but excellent flavor and firm but tender. The potatoes really nice and my wife's deconstructed beef Wellington was really incredible. The hatch chili artichoke dip super good and the presentation of every dish was amazing. Great food and great service. We came here for a family birthday dinner and highly recommend. Started off with great cocktails, bartender made great suggestions. For an appetizer we got the Hatch chili artichoke dip, it was one of the best we've had. They also start the dinner with delicious bacon rolls. For entrees we got the ribeye, pork chop, and deconstructed beef Wellington. All three were great and we loved the corn side. Friendly staff, good wine, and great music. The steak was amazing, but it was a weird experience altogether. We were seated immediately, but our table was SUPER wobbly, to the point where someone really should have noticed and addressed it before we arrived. Then it took ten minutes to figure out how to level it. Then we ordered drinks, which took a while to arrive, but were tasty. The "vinaigrette" dressing for the salad was closer to ranch dressing, which was odd since the other option was a Caesar salad. The chili is not to be missed-super tasty and unique! With our steak, which was delicious, we had some excellent mashed potatoes and some mushrooms that seemed to be unseasoned, which we both felt was odd. We ordered one more drink, and kept eating for about ten more minutes, but then 20-30 minutes passed with no sight of our server. When she finally arrived, we canceled the drink order. Then it arrived five minutes later and we were told it would be comped. They were nice enough to comp our shared dessert, but did not comp the drink, which was a little annoying given that we no longer wanted it when it arrived. We met one of the owners, who was a very gracious host, and I feel like they tried hard, but there are a few service and food issues yet to be worked out with this new restaurant. We may try again in a year or two, but we also may not. read more

We celebrated our anniversary at Outlaws and Legends and had a wonderful evening--to say the least. Frankly there is nothing like 'Outlaws' in all of Estes with flavorful steaks that were perfectly cooked. The steaks were as good as Gibsons (Chicago), SW (Vegas) and better than any Ruth Chris. Our server, Kara was awesome and the rest of the staff were attentive and courteous. Abby checked in on us and was delightful. Located at the Seven Keys (formerly The Baldpate Inn), Outlaws is magical with great views and hummingbirds feeding constantly just outside the restaurant. After our meal we could hear Mark Powell performing beautifully in the quaint outdoor venue. Congratulations to Brett, Abby, Mark and Meredith for teaming up to provide perhaps the most unique place in Estes. read more

We had excellent dry aged steaks from Snake River, Idaho, some of the best steaks we have ever tasted. Service was great in the atmosphere of the historic Seven Keys Inn, which we love. The restaurant was good before the change in ownership, but now it's even better. The chili and salads were good. Full bar. Recommended. Be advised when we pulled up the restaurant on the Yelp map the location is not correct. Also some of the hours listed on Yelp may not be correct. This place blew me away. Outlaws and Legends is tucked inside a historic hotel right in the heart of the Rockies, and it's hands-down the best meal I've had in Colorado so far. We started the evening with cocktails on their covered porch, looking out over the Estes Park valley as the sun went down. Honestly, the view alone is worth the trip. The drink menu fits the western vibe of the building perfectly--fun but classy, with unique options you won't find at a typical bar. Dinner was just as impressive. Every table in the dining room has a gorgeous mountain view, which makes the whole experience feel special. Our server was awesome--attentive and super knowledgeable without being overbearing. He suggested pairing medallions of New Zealand lamb with a Wagyu New York strip and a great glass of Cabernet. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. Between the setting, the food, and the service, this was one of those meals you don't forget. If you're anywhere near Estes Park, I'd 100% recommend making a special trip here. read more

Let me start off by saying that this place has a lot of charm however, it is overpriced and underwhelming. We don't mind paying a hefty price for a good steak it's when the steak is under seasoned and isn't prepared well that we have a problem. When I order my steak medium rare I expect some juice when I cut into It. The Caesar salad was not only flavorless but should have never even been served at an establishment like this. The dressing had no flavor, and the overall look of the salad was not appealing. The only thing that our party of 10 all agreed on was that the sweet corn ( I think that's what it's called) was the best thing on the menu. read more

This may have been my best restaurant experience. The Outlaws & Legends Steakhouse is located in the 7 Keys Lodge (historic Baldpate Inn), right across the road from Lily Lake. The setting is absolutely incredible, perched on the side of the mountain, overlooking the valley below. There is a handicap accessible ramp at the top of the drive. The outdoor deck next to the restaurant has seating and the amazing view, plus many hummingbirds at the hanging feeders. You can order drinks and appetizers there if you like. The restaurant itself is actually pretty good sized, with two sections - one that has direct views of the valley through the window wall, and the other section inside, with indirect views, since the entire restaurant is pretty open with doors and interior windows. I highly recommend the outer section due to the views. The staff was incredibly attentive. We had reservations, a good idea for anyone wanting to go in the future as this place becomes more popular. The menu is not large (check the website) but had great selections of seafood, bison, pork, duck, steaks and salads. Our wonderful waitress, Lex, brought out the bacon bun appetizer - a Lithuanian recipe. To say it was delicious is a vast understatement! For appetizers, we ordered a plate of the "Lamb Lollipops" to share, and my wife got a Caesar salad. The lamb are mini tomahawk chops, served with chimichurri, and absolutely delicious! The salad was beautifully presented, with fresh and perfect ingredients. My wife said it was the best she's ever had. We also ordered the tomato bisque, which came with two pieces of buttered crostini. My first bite of the bisque-covered crostini was almost overwhelmingly decadent! It was so much better than I can describe. Made from fresh tomatoes and herbs, thickened with fresh Parmesan, it could be a meal all on its own. Really, you have to try it! For the main course, we ordered the Lamb Lollipops with a side of garlic mashed potatoes (my wife), the Elk Tenderloin (me), Beef Tenderloin, Aged Beef Ribeye, and the Surf & Turf. I've already reviewed the lamb, and my wife loved them, and even put some of the chimichurri in her mashed potatoes. I ordered the elk medium rare, and it was tender, perfectly cooked, and accompanied by squash and baby multi-color potatoes. The blackberry sauce elevated the already amazing elk to something transcendent. Truly one of the best steaks of any kind I have ever had. The tenderloin was ordered medium (I would have ordered medium rare) and was tender, accompanied by an ordered side of the squash. The ribeye looked great, tender and cooked medium rare. The surf & turf had a generous lobster tail alongside the tenderloin, accompanied by asparagus tips and the roasted baby multi-color potatoes. For drinks, my wife and I ordered the Key Hole - finished with a smoked infusion. Delicious! Other guests at the table ordered white and red wine, and samples of choices were brought out by Lex for them to select from. We ordered a chocolate-peanut butter mousse to share at the table. Beautiful texture, not too sweet, subtle peanut butter flavor alongside the dark chocolate, an absolute delight! At some point, we have to return to try the Key Lime pie and the Brownie. Al came out and was very helpful in boxing up our leftovers to take back to the cabin. During our dinner, we were visited by Brett and Abby, who run the place. Those amazing bacon rolls are Abby's recipe, and Brett, with his chef, designed the menu. We talked with them quite a bit, and they were very interested in our impressions and wanted to make sure that our experience was outstanding, and it was! It is not an inexpensive place, but the quality of ingredients, the presentation, the setting, and the care and attention from the staff make it worthwhile. It is truly an elevated dining experience. Additionally, there is a tavern menu for those seeking less of a meal, and there is a Sunday brunch that looks absolutely amazing. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. I took two friends out for a nice dinner as a thank you and I chose this restaurant based on location (I have been here many times with the former restaurant) and the menu. The food did not disappoint. We had the ribeye, a filet, and a bison with scallops. We started with the salads and the chili as well as the complimentary bread. We finished with the mousse and key lime pie. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were the star of the meal. All of the items were delicious and I would highly recommend the food. My criticism is twofold. The key lime pie was improperly served with a spoon. When we asked our server for a fork, he gave us a questioning look and acted put upon to bring us the proper utensil for a piece of pie. My other criticism left an actual sour taste in my mouth, enough to not want to return to this restaurant. I was charged a "living wage fee". I have never been charged this in any restaurant in Estes Park. I had heard about places in Denver, Texas, and other areas charging these fees. I was so appalled I almost did not leave a tip. In fact, I left less of a tip because I thought this fee was maybe added to compensate for a regular hourly wage in place of tipping. I did not know what to do and felt I had been taken advantage of. Extra fees put on receipts to cover credit card charges or "living wages" should not be done as the cost of doing business should be accounted for in the pricing on the menu. Surprise charges are never customer friendly. I have lived in Estes Park for nearly 30 years and I work downtown. I recommend restaurants every day, but I cannot recommend this one without warning people of being charged extra fees for unknown services. read more

Paid big bucks to have the stuffed pork chop and it was stuffed with nothing. OK flavor but I could have grilled it myself at home. We were there the night before opening so maybe it was a mistake in the kitchen but disappointing. Last night we ate in the tavern and I was looking forward to burnt ends but they were really just cubes of tender beef in a bbq sauce. Nothing crispy and burnt about them, so I have to say I was again disappointed. Also had the parmesan salad and not impressed. We live in Estes full time and want this restaurant to succeed, but the word in the community is that they need to offer at least a burger in the tavern in the eve. The lunch fare that ends at 4 could be offered in the tavern in the eve as well. read more

Service was great. Chili was great. Ambiance was charming. Caesar salad was just okay. Steaks were overcooked. My husband and I each ordered the 6 ounce fillet, medium rare. Both steaks came out overcooked. Mine was medium and his was medium well--literally NO PINK. When we noted that to the server, the chef brought out butter for us. Supposedly it's their steak butter. We found that ridiculous. Adding fats after cooking will not do anything for the fact the steaks were overcooked and flavorless. We are from Houston, and we have great steakhouses in the city, so maybe we are a little spoiled. However, I can cook a better steak at home myself than what we purchased that night. read more

We saw the reviews and decided to make a reservation for our first night in town. The drive to the Seven Keys Lodge was gorgeous- and the Lodge, though small, quaint nestled in the trees. The restaurant very well decorated and charming, gorgeous views. We were seated by one of the owners, Brett. Our server was Lex, just the greatest server with the exact amount of polish, charm and wit. My husband and I shared the lamb lollipops, elk tenderloin that came with baby potatoes and a squash medle, and the white wine asparagus. The lamb cooked to tender perfection.. the chimichurri marinade excellent. The elk... no way to describe it but divine. Butter tender with a blackberry demi glaze that was the perfect compliment to the flavor of the meat. Vegetables.. they were good. But they were not the star of the plate.. next time i would skip the asparagus. A bit too tangy, but perfectly cooked. This was our 19th anniversary, and we choose the key lime pie and chocolate peanut butter mousse. The mousse was mild... light.. but the key lime pie (and I don't really care for it) was fantastic... the crust a crumbly graham like crust.. set off the creamy key lime custard in a way I wish I had ordered it! On our way out, we met Abby the other owner. A delight to talk to! Found out her son is the one preparing steaks in the kitchen! Try this place... open since June, it's a big hit!! read more

We have been coming to Estes for over 30 years and were delighted to discover Outlaws and Legends. Starting with Brett and Abby, an expert culinary and wine team who were meticulous in making our dining experience the best. And it was! Chef Brent has taken many of the "usual" dishes to a new level. We had the smoked pork chop stuffed with sage and fontina which was the best we've ever had. The lamb lollipops with chimichurri are soooooo good! They also offer "deconstructed" beef Wellington, which other diners highly recommended. Make sure you try the bacon stuffed biscuits!!! There are a lot of good things to say about this restaurant. I love the 20th Century cocktail and the Elk Tenderloin was to die for! Everyone in our party tasted it and LOVED it. We love the hummingbirds on the deck outside. There ambiance and view are wonderful. Tons of charm and history. I gave this 4 stars only because my husband was not impressed with his steak. For $75 he thought he should get a steak as delicious as Morton's (16oz ribeye $67) or Ruth Chris (16oz ribeye $73). Gibson's in Chicago Is the best in the country ( 14oz ribeye $64) His complaint was that the steak was flavorless. The brownie dessert was fabulous. Improve the steaks and you've got a real winner. Go taste test Morton's, Gibson's or Ruth Chris and take a page from their chefs. read more

Definitely the best restaurant in the entire Estes Park/Lyons/Longmont area! We've had lunch, dinner and brunch here, and every meal was incredible. Everything about this steakhouse is a level above any other restaurant in Estes Park. The hosts are professional and dressed. The staff is trained for seven points of service. The food is absolutely amazing. Every detail was checked. I am so excited for this restaurant to be in town after dinner.
