I have been here 6 or 7 times. I have ALWAYS had a wonderful meal. You shouldn't rate the restaurant for the bad service. Call the manager over and have your server replaced. It is a shame to give the place a bad rap for one waiter who probably won't still be there the next time you go. The sea bass is always great. I even went to a bridal shower held in the private space upstairs and the food was very good. I do have one complaint though, when we went for lunch, had iced tea which was good, but it cost $3 and no free refills. It was hot that day, I had 3 glasses and almost fell over when I paid $9.00 for ICED TEA!!! read more

Took my granddaughter here on Friday Feb 7 2014, wanted to take her to a nice seafood restaurant so I choose Outriggers. Service was good but the food was not what I expected. My granddaughter has Scrod, Baked Potato and Broccoli which she said was good and a salad. I ordered the Lobster Roll $16.95 and a side salad. How can you screw up a SALAD well it was awful the lettuce was limp and old 1 cucumber 1 cherry tomato and 2 olives price $4.50 are you kidding. The Lobster Roll was filled with what I though were bread crumbs a LITTLE CLAW Meat and 1 piece of Lobster not good on a hot dog roll that was falling apart. I can tell you I won't ever go back to Outriggers for dinner. Had a better dinner at Ruby Tuesdays on Valentine's Day.. read more

They deceptively advertised a menu for Restaurant Week, which was not valid after 6 p.m. on a Friday night. Now, unless you're in Florida, who opts for the Early Bird dinners these days? It definitely turned me off ever going back. I guess they haven't figured out the rules of customer retention. The quality of the food is mediocre. Typical fried seafood, mysterious stuffings, laced with more mysterious sauces. Completely overpriced for the quality. Their only redeeming factor is the water view. I have been coming to Outriggers for years. When I first tried the restaurant, it was ~10 years ago and I was over the moon in love with the place. The atmosphere is great, I love the decor and you can't beat the view of the river. I am basing this review on our meal tonight. My husband had the swordfish and I had the swordfish special. I kid you not, the swordfish was about 1/4 inch thick. We all know that swordfish is a very thick fish and it was quite clear that we were being robbed. Our waiter was phenomenal and the drinks were great. The vegetables that are served with meals are fantastic but it's is unfortunate that that have to be so stingy with the main course. Excellent service, excellent food, good prices. Stopped for lunch around 1:30, so it wasn't a busy time, but we were seated on the deck overlooking the water, service was prompt and food expertly prepared. Ordered the blackened scallops and calamari for appetizers and hot lobster rolls for entrees - all were delicious. Scallops were butter soft, not at all rubbery as they can be if over cooked. Beautiful view, prompt friendly service & excellent food - earns 5 stars in my book! read more

Friends chose this restaurant as I requested something with a water view. We were skeptical after reading the poor reviews but were committed. Sunday lunch with friends at 1 pm on a sunny hot day; opted to eat inside with the a/c. Started with appetizers of fried artichoke hearts and mussels, both exceeded expectations. My entrée of sesame salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables (cut into very thin spaghetti-like strips) was very good. Picky Hubby had his usual seafood and linguine in tomato sauce and -- surprise, surprise -- no complaints! Key lime pie and a decadent chocolate dessert wrapped it up for us. Service could not have been better. Only complaint is it's a bit pricey. read more

Pros...Beautiful night outside on deck for dinner with a delightful duo singing. We enjoyed our evening very much. Our waiter Tom was outstanding. Zucchini pancake appetizer and rolls were very delish. Cons, hostess not very welcoming, and made us feel awkward for not having reservations. While waiting for our table the bartenders seemed to ignore us and we felt they were dong us a favor by ordering drinks. The 30 minute wait was reduced to 5 minutes and were promptly told we had to clear up our tab before we even had a sip of our drinks. Dinner, delightful setting, long wait for very mediocre overcooked swordfish. Waiter provided another round for our wait, very nice. 10:00 everything was shutting down. And we felt rushed out with all the clean up going on around us. Shame we would have spent more money with a nightcap at the bar but didn't feel welcome to do that. Couple of other notes, the battery tealight votives seem a bit cheap. Bottom line, wish I loved this restaurant, with a couple of tweaks and attention to detail and better food, it could be really outstanding. We still has a nice evening. But I guess they're busy enough? Hope so, new restaurants come into town may be good competition.. read more

Was in last week with some friends for dinner and sat out on the patio. It was a beautiful night with live music. Our waitress Marlene was attentive and made sure we were happy as we told her it was our first time there. I ordered the mussels for an appetizer. It was a good size portion and thought they were very good. For dinner I ordered the surf and turf. The shrimp was good, but thought the steak was small portion. Overall, I thought the food was good and the service was great. read more

I really wanted to post a 2.5 starts - not "A-OK" but a bit more than "eh" - I've had better". I've been here several times and the food is inconsistent. I went today for Sunday lunch and ordered a shrimp and peal salad for $15.95. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but I was full satisfactorily after eating my bread and appetizer. My biggest complaint was the pear was CANNED! I expected a nice, fresh pear chopped up in my salad. For a place with prices as they are and linen on the tables, I don't expect and or want anything canned. That is unacceptable. The service was fine. No personality - just doing their job. I have a couple of gift cards, so I will be back to use those up. read more

After being a loyal customer since Outriggers opened, I'm not sure I will return. Last night we dined on the patio which was beautiful. However, we ordered a bottle of wine which took 20 minutes to arrive. We were told that there was only one bartender, so there was nothing our waitress could do. On top of that we were served wine in what reminded us of hotel room bathroom glasses, as they ran out of wine glasses. The waitress thought we were being ridiculous in how unhappy we were with this. I must add that last summer the same thing happened when I brought out of town guests there. How could a restaurant like this not have enough wine glasses to serve their patrons during their busiest season? In addition to this, the waitress mixed up our beer order with another table and my husband had to go to the bar to get the correct drink. I have also been very surprised that over the past few years I have not seen any managers or the owner present to oversee and pitch in when needed. It honestly didn't seem like anyone was taking charge of a very disorganized restaurant. The food was very good last night, but the experience was not. Very disappointing. read more

Went to Outriggers late Saturday afternoon. Sat on the deck and it goes without saying that the view was gorgeous. It goes downhill from there. It was "Restaurant Week" in Stratford so they had a special menu where you could pick an app, salad, entrée and dessert for $29.99. The app was pretty good, the salad fair, the entrée - terrible. I ordered a "1/2 chicken with bbq sauce". The chicken was smothered in bbq sauce, but I soon learned why - it was so dried out I wouldn't even feed it to a cat. I am not a fussy person and will eat practically anything but ended up leaving half of it on my plate. O well, let's have dessert. My wife and I each ordered a fruit cobbler, which consisted of canned fruit poured in a bowl with a dried out cake of some sort plopped on top. Neither tasty nor appealing to look at. I work in a large office and when I shared my experience with co-workers on Monday they all said they have either had or heard of similar experiences at this restaurant. Next time I'll go down the street and get some take-out seafood from Uberti's, then go park along the water and enjoy the view. read more

Wow! I'm kind of surprise by the general tone of these reviews. We have been there twice. My wife loves their food. I thought it was OK but a little high for what you got,portion and quality but she liked hers. I can't even remember what we had so it could not have been especially good or bad. I know the last time we were there it was a little chaotic ,lots of noise and confusion and the service was not the best. I will give it another try in hopes it's picked up a notch. Very poor service!!! We arrived for Sunday lunch at 2pm, with a reservation. There seemed to be more staff than costumers. After being seated by the hostess we sat for 25 minutes and watched staff run here, there and everywhere, while not one came near our table...a 6 top in the middle of the dining room, not easily missed. One of my party then went to the hostess station and asked if anyone was going to take an order for drinks. At this point we watched her run out, to what looked like a busboy on the outside deck and point to our table. The guy came in then to take our order, he did not have a clue what he was doing. We ordered some drinks which wasn't too bad as 4 of the 6 of us just ordered water. We ordered a couple of appetizers to get things going and were prepared to order main courses, but had to remind our "waiter" that we still had not put in our main course order. 5 of us ordered steak, we were not asked how we liked the steaks cooked or type of potatoes/rice/veg listed on the menu. Mains also came with soup/salad, we were not asked which we would like, had to remind him of this also. The steak was mediocre at best. While waiting for our main I decided to have a glass of wine, which did or come by the time our mains came 15/20 mins later...I decided I did not want it anymore as was fed up reminding our "waiter" what to do. We could see the glass of wine sitting on the bar. But just as I finished my meal I was presented with a glass of wine. I did actually drink it as I needed a drink to take the edge off. This whole experience may not have been so bad, if there were not 10/12 other staff not doing much in the dining room. I can appreciate there are new staff training in restaurants, you can usually tell who they are and I'm a friendly guy and will try my best to put them at easy. But this whole situation was beyond that. How can someone acting as a waiter not know to ask a customer how they would like their steak cooked? Absolute farce and by the looks of the reviews on here we were not the only ones to have bad experiences...They are blessed with their location on the water and I think take this for granted... rant over read more

I was really disappointed with my first experience here. A friend and I sat in the bar area for dinner and ordered an appetizer and two entrees. The food was good, but the staff came off as very unwelcoming. Unwelcoming turned into downright rude when I asked my waiter for our check as he passed by our table and he waved me off by putting his HAND IN MY FACE. Unfortunately I won't be returning anytime soon, nor will I be recommending that anyone else do so. read more

We went on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm...We wanted seafood and stumbled on this restaurant. Seemed like a great location and we sat outside in the shade. It took a while for our waiter to show up and once he did we ordered drinks. It took forever to get them. We then ordered some apps. and our meal at the same time. Once again, it took FOREVER to get our appetizers. We watched tables around is get their food first, which was frustrating to our 2 children. We ordered raw oysters, clams casino and fried mozz...not difficult. After getting our appetizers, it ONCE AGAIN took forever to get our meal. We had to flag someone to get our waiter to bring us more drinks. Then once our meal arrived the fish tacos were soggy yet the mahi mahi was obviously over cooked and dry to the bone, literally disgusting. My daughter and I both ordered them, she's a bit of a fish taco connoisseur-I'm not. I asked her what she thought, she said that the tortilla was not nearly enough for what they put in it, I to agree. It ripped immediately and felt apart. My husband order the lobster roll which looked absolutely delicious!! Unfortunately he said that it looked much better than it tasted. Also, the poor little hotdog bun was not nearly adequate to hold what they were trying to stuff it with. There are a few other little seafood dive restaurants around which are probably much better and much less expensive. I don't mind paying top dollar for a delicious seafood meal. This was gross, highly priced, but in a great location. read more

If I could have given this restaurant ZERO stars I would have. From the moment we walked into the door and were not even acknowledged must less greeted to the piss-poor service and the mediocre at best food.....this place is one that I would NEVER recommend nor would I ever even entertain the idea of going back to. When walking in the door the hostess was a complete snot - when asking to sit outside on the patio we were only told, "We don't have seating available." After glancing outside and seeing TEN OPEN Tables, I mentioned this and was given an eye roll and told that they have reservations. She then walked away! I wasn't given the option to put my name down and told that if I wanted to wait I could do so at the bar. Since I have been in the restaurant business I tracked her down (at this point you would THINK I would have been smart enough to leave....) and asked if I could put my name down and wait at the bar. Thinking that a few alcoholic beverages would calm my rage I patiently waited for a couple to leave the bar so my and my partner could grab a seat...this took about 20 minutes....you would think one of the 2 bartenders that were serving a 14 seater bar would have asked me or my partner if we wanted a beverage....think again. Once again we were IGNORED. Then once we sat in the seats that were abandoned it was another 20 minute wait to get a bartenders attention - and that was after I had to say, "Excuse me, do you think we could get a drink?" Once again I was answered with such an attitude it completely turned me off to the idea that I wanted to stay....due to the GREAT live entertainment this place was still getting a chance. After deciding that I was going to stay solely based on the fact that the acoustic duo was lifting my spirits we decided to eat at the bar and asked for a menu - a menu that took another 20 minuted to arrive. We ordered 3 things - appetizers to pick at. Which were TERRIBLE. The food was cold, not the way we specified and WAY OVER PRICED. Not to mention that the bartender that was finally paying SOME attention to us either had a terrible sinus cold or had a bad habit. All in all, this is an experience that I wish I could forget but as a past bartender and server cannot. I am outraged at the lackluster food and the outrageous attitudes and laziness of the staff. My friend and I came to the restaurant at noon as they opened at 11:30. We sat on the deck outside, which was very nice. Great view! Unfortunately we sat on the patio for at least ten minutes before a server greeted us. Ten minutes is a long time when your sitting in the sun anticipating a cold beer! After an apology from our waitress we ordered our meals. We received our crab cakes first, they were mediocre at best. Thick fried breading and a pasty consistency inside. Next were the lobster rolls we had been CRAVING. We were less than impressed. Their was an average amount of lobster meat, hand picked? Most likely not, on top of a soggy butter roll that fell apart in our hands. The fries were straight out of a freezer bag, soggy and disappointing. Didn't even touch the cole slaw in a 2 ounce salad dressing container. Yikes! We ended up at off the hook next door for a martini to ease our minds. read more

I went to Outriggers with a party of 6. Three of us, (including me), ordered lobster bisque. One of us was smart enough to send it back after the first taste. The other two of us ate about half of it. Within about 40 minutes of leaving the restaurant, my stomach started cramping and I had to use the bathroom in a major way, however I was in a store. I rushed and rushed to get home enduring cramps and the horrible feeling an impending explosion. Sorry for the graphic nature of this but we'll say some escaped before I made it to the bathroom. I continued to have cramping and diarrhea that night, and still cramping and ickiness the next day. I spoke to the owner to make him aware of the situation. He said a stomach bug is going around, their food is always fresh, it wasn't the food, I don't know what to tell you, what do you want from me? etc. etc. I told him I would want to be refunded (and honestly, it was the principle more than the money), as that would be the RIGHT thing to do after paying money to eat bad food that made me sick. He completely invalidated everything I was telling him and refused to refund my money, only offering gift certificates. I turned a gift CERTIFICATE down..who wants to return to eat at a restaurant where they got sick? The night I got sick I questioned my friend who ate the bisque too and she was also sick to her stomach that night. In addition to all of that, the service was bad, with us constantly having to flag down our waiter (and it really wasn't even busy). I really can't believe that after two of us getting sick and me explaining it to the owner, he would not refund us. I find it rather sad. read more
