place is beautiful, the ambiance was great very fancy. drinks are small but good pours.

    Empty rooftop

After seeing a dreamy instagram reel I felt inspired to stop by for drinks after dinner to enjoy the rooftop despite the mixed yelp reviews- figured how bad can it be it's a bar. Welllllll. When the service is this absurd I can see why the reviews are so poor. The hostess was incredibly rude and unhelpful, repeatedly telling us that the outside is reserved and reservation only. We talked to three people and had zero resolve. Decided to walk outside to see the rooftop before calling it quits, we walked out and it was completely empty! Not close to closing time either. Very bizarre experience, rather spend my money elsewhere than for bad service and a view of Duluth. Adding an extra star for ambiance, this place has potential but service needs major improvements.

The food was alright, I feel like it was not that great of flavor to the Taiwanese style chicken wing. My friends got the burger and steak sandwich that was alright too. The chocolate mousse was good, the flavor was light with dark chocolate and not very sweet at all. I think the chocolate mousse was the best thing there. The drinks were not good. I was not a fan of the service at the bar. My friend had given me her card to pay for her and the bartender had demanded a tip. I was surprised with that because I've never had a bartender demand a tip and then change the their attitude on how they are servicing base off that. It was not a pleasant experience. I felt like it was not that professional. The other bartenders were nice and made better drinks plus they had a better professional attitude. The vibes there are cute and nice overall. The hostess at the front is absolutely sweet.

Where do i even start? lol We celebrated a gf's bday & brought her a cake that costed $35 to HOLD it in the back. The wait and service was HORRIBLE; waited over 30mins for a MOCKTAIL and even longer for some wings. Kind server but lord was she slow, we'd have to ask for everything we needed at once or we'd have to wait another 30mins for a simple thing. This isn't a place to come enjoy a meal nor even a drink, wine was $25. Pricey but it could've at least tasted good. My sister got the Mexican street salad and it tasted dry as hell, it's more of a bowl tha salad, there wasnt anything that made it a SALAD lol. We were there around 11pm and the lights kept getting brighter for us to leave but checks weren't even brought out yet. Restrooms were very dirty with trash all over the floor; i will not be coming back at alllllllll. The whole experience was 1/10 unfortunately It's all just an aesthetic scenery. Disappointing

The bill restriction is 3 checks to a table. The menu must change frequently because the pictures I saw online were not on the menu. I tried the Amazonian salad with added chicken. The char of the chicken and the fruit added to the well dressed salad tasted great. Portions are small but the healthy veggie options were a salad and a curry. Which meant I ordered a salad, 2 drinks, and then ate later. The drinks were good, I tried the becky and the tumeric margarita. The Becky was my favorite with vodka and lavender. The place is beautiful. Parking is pretty easy, $5 for endless parking in the deck. $15 for valet parking for 2 hours. After two hours the price keeps increasing. I would say this place is for drinks and small bites. You are high up but the view is the beautiful rooftop you are on. The landscape isn't a skyline or cascading trees. It's mostly a parking lot but the lighting, the roof and the breeze are nice. I wouldn't say this place was family friendly. It's for an adult crowd. I'll be back to share stories and try more drinks.

This place is beautiful. The food and drinks just don't match. The menu is awkward and not cohesive. I ordered the empanadas and yucca fries. It was not done correctly. It was very much so giving Sysco, freezer section, put it in the air fryer food. I ordered a lemon drop, but it was made lazily with store bought lemonade. This place is absolute no for me.

My wife sent me an IG video of Overstory, and quickly asked if I could book it for her birthday. Of course I couldn't resist this gorgeous restaurant! When we arrived there was valet out front and we love that when we all know how parking goes. We had reservations so when we arrived we were swept away to a comfortable booth. We visited on a Thursday and we nearly had the place to ourselves! We were near the bar and our waitress for the evening was lovely. The rooftop restaurant features panoramic views, with beautiful furniture, lighting & decor. Unfortunately it was raining the day that we went, so we didn't get to experience the terrace. However, it looked amazing from the windows so I can imagine. We ordered beef tostadas, Ceasar salad with shrimp, and ceviche with mussels. Everything was well seasoned and delicious. I wasn't in the mood for alcohol so I ordered a tropical mocktail. My wife ordered the old fashioned and she enjoyed it. The food was enjoyable; so I'll have to hike back to Duluth and hope the weather cooperates for the views next time.

Aliyah *Aleah is the hostest with the mostest! Once again she took great care and was super attentive. The food was delicious - the Peruvian Anticuchos- and the views were breath taking. This was my first time tasting items that Aliyah recommended from their new menu and everything was tasty and filling. Go and enjoy! @overstoryrooftopbar @joyfullyayana

What a fabulous place! My girlfriends and I wanted to enjoy a night out and opted for Overstory after my bestie heard raving reviews. None of us live in (or near!) Duluth but we thought it worth the trip. Spoiler Alert: It totally was. When we arrived there was valet out front and we love that when we all know how parking goes. We had reservations so when we arrived we were swept away to a table near the terrace. We visited on a Friday before it got too late and the place was buzzing! We were seated steps away from the terrace at a fantastic table and our waitress for the evening was phenomenal. We all started off with cocktails and I went with the Conquistador which is Pisco, passion fruit, and ancho pepper lime. FIRE. For appetizers we opted for the empanadas, the tostada and the yuca. They were alllll delicious! Especially the tostadas. It took a bit to get the cocktails (we got our apps first), but it was super busy and we were chatting through it anyways, lol. For dinner I went with the fried snapper over plantain mash and it did not disappoint. It didn't blow me away like crazyyy (I could have used more *kick*) - but believe me, it was yummy. Seriously a delicious experience from cocktails to entrees. I think the only part of the experience that surprised me here was that they said we couldn't take food outside or order from there. But when we went on the terrace, we saw menus on the tables and empty plates. Confusing. It didn't feel like they were lying to us, I just didn't understand how they let other folks slip outside with their plates lol. We did take our cocktails outside and it was the perfect vibe. The views aren't life-changing but it was a fabulous place to spend some time no matter what! I wish it was closer to me but I can't wait to make some time to return!

I've been having Overstory saved to my places to check out since it opened up & have tried to make reservations before but it has always been booked out. When deciding what to do for my birthday this was the first place that came to mind & there was availability! The rooftop restaurant is beautiful, panoramic view, with beautiful furniture, lighting & decor. We had dinner inside then lounged outside by the water the rest of the evening. It was four of us, I had the fried red snapper which was okay, both my sisters got the Asado which they enjoyed. My mom ordered a short rib meal that was more like pulled beef. Two of us had the Jollof rice with our meal and we both agreed it lacked flavor. Two of them ordered a drink called the Roselle which they both thought was really good. My family ordered a cheesecake for me but it unfortunately never came after waiting for more than 15 mins. Our reservation was at 7pm & our waiter informed us around 7:50 pm that she was going to close out our tab because she had a phone call with her insurance company at 8pm so I'm not sure if her having to leave the floor had anything to do with the cheesecake never coming out. We finally just gave up on waiting and went outside to take pictures and enjoy the rooftop outside space. The restaurant space is beautiful and the inside/outside setting is a really nice place to enjoy without having to go into the city but the food needs some improvement. The taste doesn't match the price unfortunately. I would come back for a date night but probably go somewhere else for dinner then come here to enjoy the outside rooftop space.

I kept on hearing about this rooftop bar and finally had a chance to visit it. It's on top of the Westin Hotel near Gas South Arena. You can either park in Parking Deck 2 or 4 to go there. Parking is not validated, just an FYI. Get into the elevators and go to Floor 9. It's not labeled, but the cleaners there told me. When you go in, it's a beautiful restaurant. I happened to choose the Jazz Brunch which are held on Sundays. I was really hoping to get good pictures of the outside view, but unfortunately, it was too windy and cold that afternoon. Service seems short staff for the amount of guests. Prepare to wait long. Best if you order your drinks and foods at the same time. I had the short ribs. It was just okay. I like that it was a big proportion though. I would go back for the night ambiance with girlfriends, but is it worth going? Not really.

Absolutely loved this spot! It's rare to find a restaurant where everyone loves their meal and drinks. We ordered quite a bit. Our waitress let us know that they have a full bar however, sadly she didn't say that they don't have gin until after I tried to order 2 different drinks. No worries because the pornstar martini became the table favorite. We also enjoyed "Margarita's cousin Maria, "Roselle" and a vodka pineapple. For food we ordered the fried snapper with plantain mash, coconut chicken curry flatbread and Wag burger. My favorite was the snapper but everything was amazing. No complaints. The restaurant is beautiful. There was light music in the restaurant, pretty close to quiet but a party in the restrooms. The rooftop is perfect. Wouldn't change a thing about my experience.

Worth the drive to Duluth! This was freaking amazing and awesome! Pics and videos do not do it justice you have to see for yourself! Any negative review is flawed! Arrived for my self date Black Friday edition and was met with valet then courteous lady at front desk and then off to the 9th floor! Hector Manager on duty ensured my experience was outstanding! The bartenders (mixologists) Nina took GREAT care of me along with Alicia and Curtis! All in all this is a very upscale vibe and experience! Summed up: Bravo Zulu! You have a regular in me!

Super appreciative of such technology. Parking was plentiful when we got there and we were able to park right next to the patio and front door. The immediate parking lot is kind of small and shared with some other establishments, but there is plenty of other parking in connecting lots around the establishment. So no worries if you don't get as lucky as we do. The hostess was very pleasant and offered either indoor or outdoor seating. It was a rainy day so we opted for inside to be on the safe side (the patio is covered though, so no worries if that's your preference). Our server Nicholas was super polite and helpful. He explained the menu and abbreviations to my party with suffient detail. The food was cooked to perfection and served at the perfect temperature. Excellent pie! I hope they read this and make a few changes.

The décor has a La Catrina/Día de los Muertos feel, and the bar is gorgeous, with colorful liquor bottles, skulls, and plenty of eye-catching details. The upbeat music added to the atmosphere, although at one point it briefly sounded like we were at Mass, and I almost started doing the sign of the cross! For drinks, the Marinero was good. The watermelon margarita was okay, but unfortunately, it really didn't taste much like watermelon. We started with the fresh guacamole, which was disappointing. It was pretty lackluster and needed seasoning. When I order fresh guacamole, I'm looking for that classic table-made style with chunks of avocado, cilantro, onion, fresh lime, and plenty of flavor. This just didn't have it. The chicken quesadilla with peppers and onions was good overall, although the chicken was a little dry. The rice was actually very good--fluffy and not dry at all. The charro beans, however, needed some help. They lacked seasoning and that wonderful smoky flavor I expect from good charro beans. Some flavorful chorizo would have taken them to another level. The sopa de pollo had a good base flavor, but some jalapeños would have given it the kick it needed. The complimentary chips and salsa were okay, but again, the salsa needed more spice and personality. That really sums up my experience: the restaurant looks more flavorful than the food tastes. The atmosphere is beautiful, the bar is impressive, and the restaurant has so much potential, but the kitchen needs to bring the same energy. Give me more garlic, cilantro, lime, sazón, spice, smokiness, and bold Mexican flavors. Get rid of the bland! Overall: C+ Beautiful restaurant and great atmosphere, but the food needs more seasoning and flavor to match the gorgeous surroundings.

I was really looking forward to trying the oysters, but I didn't realize their menu changes often so unfortunately, no oysters this time. A little sad about that! We decided to order pretty much everything off the à la carte menu. Overall, the food was just okay to me. The Brussels sprouts were the hardest to eat they were basically raw, just thinly sliced with sauce poured over. It would've been much better if they were at least steamed or grilled a bit. The mushrooms, though, were absolutely BOMB! If I didn't know what it was, I would've thought it was some sort of meat dish super soft, flavorful, and delicious. Definitely the highlight of the meal. The Wagyu, on the other hand, was a big disappointment. For the price, it was tough and chewy when it should've been buttery and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Overall, the place is cute and the vibes are nice, but the food was overpriced for what it was. I'd only come back for those mushrooms they were that good.

I placed an order for everything on the carte menu. Food was fun and a few of the dishes caught me off guard, in a good way. Pros. We loveeed the maitake mushrooms. This dish was one dish my friend and I had low expectations for. Ironically it's the only dish we would go back for! The bucatini I also had low expectations for. I hardly order pasta, from non pasta specialty places, because the pasta is 99% of the time going to be overcooked. BUT this bucatini was cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce was rich but not too heavy and just enough to cover the noodles without drowning. The crab taste was pretty faint. If it weren't listed on the menu I wouldn't even think it were in the dish. Cons. The brussel sprout salad was honestly almost inedible. It is a raw shaved brussel sprout salad, dressed as a Caesar salad. Although not bad tasting, the core of the sprouts was not tender but dry and hard. There was also a lot of it. Most disappointing was the "waygu ribeye". The quality was pretty horrible. The piece we got had silver skin as well as chunks of fat. I wish I got a picture of the leftover fat from the steak but if you look at my picture you can clearly see slices of just fat. I love a little fat on a well cooked ribeye and do not mind paying for it. But paying $50 for a probably 8oz "waygu" ribeye with only half of it palatable is wild. Regardless, I'm actually going back in a couple of days with my husband because of those amazing mushrooms.. though as I am writing this review I'm debating on canceling my reservation, ordering the mushrooms to go, and just going elsewhere. lol

I had just landed from New Jersey and arrived tired, jet-lagged, starving, and looking for something delicious near my hotel. Artificial intelligence recommended Just Brunch, and this time, AI absolutely understood the assignment! I ordered the Seafood Lovers Omelet with shrimp and lobster, accompanied by a side salad and biscuit. Between the seafood and eggs, I estimate that I received approximately 50 grams of protein. The portions are not humongous because this is a more gourmet-style restaurant, but the amount was just right for rich, high-quality food. The omelet was delicious, the salad was fresh and flavorful, and the biscuit came with an incredible Cajun sauce. Oh, my Lord! I normally watch my macros, so I only ate about a quarter of the biscuit, but every bite was worth it. The jam was also fantastic. The freshly made pineapple, ginger, and mint lemonade was out of this world. It was refreshing and tasted like something genuinely special--not an ordinary restaurant lemonade. My total was $38.16 before tip, and I left Briana 22% because she provided excellent service and deserved it. Some people may think that close to $50 for brunch is ridiculous, but I see it differently: I could spend about $20 somewhere like Panera and have a basic meal, or I could spend more and have an experience I will actually remember. Just Brunch is not the cheapest option, and this was certainly more indulgent than my everyday breakfast. But if you value taste, quality, presentation, and a memorable meal, it is absolutely worth it. If you're visiting Duluth, especially for work or while staying nearby, don't miss this spot.
