It was a rainy day so we opted for inside to be on the safe side (the patio is covered though, so no worries if that's your preference). Our server Nicholas was super polite and helpful. He explained the menu and abbreviations to my party with suffient detail. The food was cooked to perfection and served at the perfect temperature. The charro beans, however, needed some help. They lacked seasoning and that wonderful smoky flavor I expect from good charro beans. Some flavorful chorizo would have taken them to another level. The sopa de pollo had a good base flavor, but some jalapeños would have given it the kick it needed. The complimentary chips and salsa were okay, but again, the salsa needed more spice and personality. That really sums up my experience: the restaurant looks more flavorful than the food tastes. The atmosphere is beautiful, the bar is impressive, and the restaurant has so much potential, but the kitchen needs to bring the same energy. Give me more garlic, cilantro, lime, sazón, spice, smokiness, and bold Mexican flavors. Get rid of the bland! I wish I got a picture of the leftover fat from the steak but if you look at my picture you can clearly see slices of just fat. I love a little fat on a well cooked ribeye and do not mind paying for it. But paying $50 for a probably 8oz "waygu" ribeye with only half of it palatable is wild.
