We had reservations at 6pm for our anniversary. The host (gentleman) sat us directly in the sun. We asked if we could sit in one of the shaded tables because my husband is on meds that make him sensitive to the sun & I get migraines from excessive sun. He said all of the tables were already taken although they were empty. Our server told us we could sit anywhere we wanted so we moved into the table the host claimed was taken. The cocktails were good but very slow to come out. My husband ordered a draft beer and was told they didn't have any drafts. He ordered a different beer that they brought out in a can with no glass. They told him they were out of mugs. I would expect a place this fancy (and not cheap) to find or clean some glasses vs serving beer in a can. We didn't try any food. Service was good in the beginning but once they h busy we never saw our server again. I went to the bathroom and grabbed her for another drink. She brought the check with the drink which I guess was a hint our time was up? The atmosphere is great but they could have done much better. We paid for parking but the gate was open so another waste of $5. read more

I would say the one thing that is top tier here is the customer service. The first person I saw when I came inside was Bruce. He made me feel so welcome and he assisted me with information that I needed to get. Do the valet parking? Driving around in a parking garage trying to find a spot to park is exhausting. Most spots are labeled with the hotels logo so you can't park in those spots. The restaurant is like a tapas place (so it's small portions) The food is good but pricy I spent $40.00 alone on just food and I was still hungry. The rooftop part it self is very nice. The service was nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was good, each dish is quite memorable in its own way. Patacones (5/5) was my favorite. This place was a quick date idea and was a nice experience. We had reservations at 8:15 and arrived at 8:24 pm and almost lost our table but the nice hosts made it happen for us. It was a Friday evening so probably more busy than normal. The menu was a Spanish style but very limited items that you've never heard of. Fancy names for chicken kabobs and empanadas as well as no fish options. I feel like every restaurant needs salmon and veggie options that are not so mixed around. The empanadas were ordered and I was comfy with that since I've have had many empanadas in my life. And these were not good, they had plantain in them which made them overly sweet instead of of savory and the fancy named chicken kebabs came on a bed of what seemed to be wet ruffles. So it's a pretty place but menu was really lacking the basics. So, if I go back I will probably stick to drinks. read more

Pretty isn't everything. I came here with my boyfriend and his family for dinner, and was starving. This is definitely not the place for dinner. It's more tapas. Our server was super nice and the ambiance was pretty cool. It's situated in a new hotel the Westin up top with a good view. Other than that, I was sorely disappointed in the experience. First of all, they were out of so much stuff. I don't eat red meat, pork, none of that, so I chose the tuna. They were out. My other option was this fried plantain dish, but let me tell you...it's not real plantains like you imagine. It's literally the chips. No thanks. They were also out of every non alcoholic specialty drink they had listed in their menu. One of his family members ordered the empanadas and the server commented, good thing, you got the last one, then tells us later the kitchen is closing early because we ran out of so many things. And parking, valet is $10 unless you self park, and that's $10 if you're 2 hours or under. But weird, I see a review from 2 weeks ago saying valet was complimentary. I kind of wondered if the guy was trying to make money. We literally had to cash app him the 10 bucks. I ended up eating some yuca fries, which were okay, nothing I'd feel the urge to come again here for, in fact nothing would drive me to come here again period. read more

The ambiance here is amazing, but they still are a little rough around the edges in terms of customer service. I went on a day when they first opened, so there was almost no one there. Yet the staff kept telling me with 85%+ of their tables empty, that I essentially could only be seated out in the sun on the outside patio because they were fully reserved. Uh really? Then why was I here an entire hour and no one sat in any of those seats??? I ended up moving myself to a more reasonable location, and assured the staff that I was happy to move whenever the party that had reserved the table arrived. No one else came for those seats the entire time I sat out there. Also, my server was extremely lacking in knowledge about the wine list. She kept having to go and ask very basic questions about what was actually available in stock, or how sweet or dry each wine was. It really didn't make for a very smooth customer experience. Even though I went when this location was newer, I was already starting to notice staining, hair, etc. on their outside patio furniture. In the future, I'd like to see them do a more thorough job of keeping the outdoor space cleaner. read more

We had dinner with friends at Overstory this past Saturday. I had such high hopes.... The atmosphere, cocktails, and appetizers were all very good. However this is not the place to come for full meals or entrees. I ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium. It was the weirdest cut of a ribeye I had ever seen. First, there was no discernible spinalis, which is the best part of the steak, second, it was about 1/2" thick, and third it was grossly overcooked. I ordered it medium-rare and it came well-plus. I sent it back and they brought out another that was a twin to the first one, and it tasted as if it was not seasoned at all. The waitress apologized profusely, but I wasn't about to give it another shot. The quality of the cut of the steak wouldn't allow it to cooked properly. At $65, I expected better, but it was more like something you'd get at Waffle House or Denny's. Everything else was awesome, honestly, I'd go back, but only for tapas and cocktails, or maybe to enjoy the view. read more

The staff seems to need some training on the steps of service. They were lacking on how to greet, how often to visit the tables, and refilling drinks. The hype about this place on social media was a total disappointment. Made reservations. We got there, and the table we were seated on was not cleaned (bread crumbs). We requested for the server to clean the table, and she forgot. Asked another server, and he didn't care. We got the manager involved, and he cleaned the table. I ordered the patacones appetizer and the coconut chicken curry, both were decent and reasonably priced. The mocktail however wasn't my favorite. They say no athletic attire but a women dressed in athletic attire with no underwear on was walking all over the restaurant taking pictures of another women in front of all of our tables. Leaks in the roof dripping all over the floor. When speaking to the manger, his response was guests are allied to do whatever they want. Tables were dirty and not cleaned properly. My husband and I received excellent service from Nate and Alisha (bartenders) . Our drinks were well made and delicious! Alisha went above and beyond to make my husband's special request for his whiskey sour with egg whites. Not once but three times. She and Nate were professional, personable, kind and gave overall great service. The bar stayed busy and they kept up with a smile. Great customer service is rare these days. We really appreciate Nate and Alisha! Our empanadas with guacamole was delicious. We will definitely be back. Only issue we had was with the parking. This was definitely a hidden gem find for me. After seeing a reel about this place on Instagram I had initially thought it was in Atlanta. But as soon as I saw that it was in Duluth, down the street from my house, I grabbed my boyfriend and said let's go get some drinks! Upon arriving we did have to ask where it was located (on the 9th floor of the Westin) and once we arrived we were given the option to sit inside or outside. The outside set up was such a calming vibe. There were couples, girl groups, and adults that were there to look nice and wind down. The only down side was that it felt like it took FOREVER for a waiter to come to our table. I went to the bar to ask if anyone would be serving us soon and they arrived a couple minutes later. We ordered 2 drinks; Who Invited Becky & Margarita's Cousin, Maria. Both were mixed so beautifully and were light refreshing drinks. For food we tried the Empanadas & Wag Burger. Everything tasted DIVINE. I've been telling my friends all about it since I've gone and will definitely be back soon. read more

Got the burger which was cooked properly- juicy and medium. Bars usually overcook most of their foods. Burgers typically come out either raw or well done. Overstory's burger was prepared medium and juicy. A bit messy to eat but damn tasty. For a late Friday evening, they did a great job on the food! Typically when I go to a bar, I very seldom order any of their featured cocktails. I like my cocktails complex and traditional. Surprisingly the bartender is well versed and did well at crafting my cocktail. It's was missing the traditional lemon peel but the cocktail was on par with other establishments of this nature. We made our way to overstory the other day located at the Westin near sugarloaf mills the Gwinnett arena. The Westin is awesome offering valet at a reasonable price and a self parking option. Overstory access is from the elevators in the far right of the lobby and you do need to show ID at the check in counter before getting on the elevator. The restaurant itself was very nicely appointed but because it was pretty busy our table wasn't the best configuration for our party. We were given a booth and had to add a chair to the outside to fit everyone even though we booked ahead with a reservation. This isn't a huge deal just could be slightly annoying. The restaurant was very good and service was excellent. Portions are small as this is mostly a place to hang out and have a few snacks so keep in mind that it may not be the best place to have dinner. Overall a really cool and welcome addition to the sugarloaf area. Will be back again soon. read more

I am usually very understanding because restaurant service is hard work and there can be bad nights. It happens. But this was an extreme level of bad. Also, I was overcharged and reached out to management after the fact to correct and was ignored/ blown off... One positive is that it is a beautiful space with a great "rooftop" and view, but even that wasn't enough to overcome the disappointment and frustration. I hope it gets better. read more

We had to try this new rooftop lounge in our backyard. I had read reviews prior to coming and all were stating food options are limited and not so great for the price. This is a great spot pre or post dinner. We came on Wed. and opted for dinner elsewhere in the area. The feel is upscale lounge. The view is beautiful on top of the Westin and the decor is giving beach oasis. Lots of seating both inside and outside. Full service inside. Make a reservation and coming later may help with crowd flow. Spacing between tables were adequate. The fountain and fire pit in the middle are the perfect photo backdrop and what's not to love about the elegant rooftop in the burbs. The music gave a classy vibe and the crowd was mature. I will try again on a weekend soon but definitely worth trying. We didn't eat , had a cocktail ( some of us did ). The weather was perfect and service was great. I will be back. read more

Upon walking in, the decor and ambiance is beautiful. The view is amazing and the location is a plus. It gave Atlanta vibes without having to be in the city. The food wasn't bad, but it's not memorable. You're paying more for the ambiance in my opinion. Honestly, I'm not sure if the server was having a bad day or wasn't trained properly, but the service was not up to parr with the price we had to pay. When most of my party sat down, we weren't greeted for awhile and weren't given water until she greeted us, which took some time. Their auto gratuity is 22% which is higher than most restaurants. The issue isn't the auto gratuity but how bad the service was. Our server would often disappear and we would only see her a couple of times. She was not attentive and they weren't that busy. The runner dropped off the check for her when they brought the dessert. That is not proper service. I would only consider returning if the service improves. read more

Here is an in depth review: Upon arrival it was easy to find. The Westin Hotel can be seen right off the exit. Park on deck 1 which will give you two hours of free parking and $5 after 2 hours which I felt was reasonable. You may also valet but that is an additional fee. Once you enter go past the front desk and take the elevator to the 9th floor. The upstairs area is a full 360 bar with ample indoor seating and views. The color scheme is rich green and luxe style. Depending on the weather the bar area opens out to the star of the show a beautiful wrap around rooftop bar area that includes two water fountains and two bar areas. The theme is definitely resort/Miami beach aesthetic. FYI it gets windy up there but the atmosphere is beautiful. The seating is set up for quaint conversations and smaller spots for more intimate dining. The architecture was done beautifully for this venue. The menu is small plates/tapas style. If you are looking to be full....go downstairs to the family restaurant because upstairs focus is views, libations and interactions. The food was more of an absorb the alcohol type of thing. I recommend the empanadas or the fried plantain dish. Drinks start around $11 and up so prepare your pockets. The have a nice lavender beverage that will run you around $16. You also can order from their full bar for your favorite liquor. As of this post no dj or live entertainment has been added but I would love to see a few live bands do some days there soon. This space has a lot of good bones to do some very profitable and fun events. Brunch I heard is coming the end of April for Sundays. My recommendations as a freelance planner: Add a happy hour Book a live band for a weekday evening Add a couple more items to menu (wings and a salad) Either use a QR code for the menu or laminate menus to prevent them from blowing away I have a few more but I'll see how things go Customer service was A plus all 3 times I went. I am really sorry, but I just don't understand the tipping starting at 22% isn't part of the tipping culture having overly friendly waiters? In Europe waiters are unfriendly, but they don't get tips. Visited the rooftop after a couple weeks of its opening - it's absolutely gorgeous! It's on top of a hotel and the aesthetics are visually pleasing. I could tell that as a recently opened restaurant, they are still getting their footing. They seemed to still be stocking the rooftop bar, and when we asked for a particular bottle of champagne they seemed unsure if they had it in house. After about 20 minutes of looking, they realized they did not, and we ordered a different bottle. Most of the waiters seemed clearly overworked and stressed, you could also tell they were trying to get their footing and establish a rhythm as a staff. We stopped several people to ask questions and many of them seemed a bit confused. Despite this, our waiter was amazing! In the midst of her doing 10 things at once, she stopped and had a full blown conversation with us. The food was mostly okay. The mini tacos had good flavor, but the yuca fries and plantains could have used more. After waiting an extended time for empanadas I realized they were not worth ordering and barely ate them. They were not good. I would love to come back and visit when Overstory has a bit more time and experience under their belt, hopefully they can find their footing and create a stable environment. I am looking forward to when they begin to serve brunch, but will wait at least a couple of months to hope they work out any kinks. I came here as a pre birthday and the ambiance is very nice. It's clean and definitely a great spot for pictures. The music isn't too loud which I really like not having to scream across the table. However, I will say there were some things I would change. For one don't expect to come here and get full it's definitely a small plate place and I mean small which is no problem that's their vibe. Second, I came with a party of 4 and the food came out pretty late about 40minutes from when we ordered and it was cold . One person in our party didn't get her food at all and waited over 30 minutes after everyone's food was done not even serviced but when everyone was done eating . But ending on a good note our server was nice (Chris G) and he tried his best to make up for the mishap and he made our drinks and it was spot on shout out to him. I would recommend this place for a quick stop for drinks but as far as food not really worth the price honestly. I would give this place a 2.5 but I'll give it a 3 for Chris G!! So.. I'll start by saying that, the hotel itself is exactly what you're looking for as a quiet clean get away with plenty of features to keep you occupied. Customer service was all around perfect. Now to the Rooftop "restaurant" & bar.. Overstory..... Well, I completely understand what they were going for. Cool idea, great intent. 50% will enjoy it, the other 50% will be disappointed. Not even close to the hype we saw. Go with no expectations and you MIGHT enjoy it. We ARE South American and travel quite often. The food was the part that disappointed us the most. I get it.. it's "fusion" they went for... I just didn't see it. The customer service at the Rooftop was extremely subpar. For the kind of clientele they are trying to attract, we were not pleased.
