Looking for somewhere to take my bf for his birthday, I Google best steakhouse near West Covina. Owen's Bistro pops up. I read the reviews of other patrons and I liked what I read. For appetizers we got the foccacio bread. It is one of the best that I've had. We both decided on the rib eye and they did not disappoint. It was delicuous. Per Google it is best to make reservations which I did, when we got there we were immediately seated. The hostess and wait staff were great. They made sure we got our drinks and water was filled. I'm gonna say it IF I COULD LEAVE 0 STARS I WOULD The service was terrible. It took an hour to sit, although our table was free. The hostess Denise had to get our bottle of wine because we didn't have a waiter stop over. Then Denise promised to have our waiter come over. Our waiter didn't come by for at least an half hour or longer to take our order. Once the waiter came over he didn't talk about the food, or ask us how are wine was he was quiet and cold. The scallops were raw and slimy. But we couldn't tell anyone because no one came back. Getting water was a task. We waited another 45 minutes to get dessert, the only reason we finally got that was because we asked where our dessert was. When the dessert arrived it was slammed down on the table! Really slammed down! It was crazy! Also it was gross and cold. Like they took it from the fridge. Denise came over with a bottle of champagne to say sorry about the service, and was so narcissistic that she turned into the victim and said "we made her feel terrible!" Really? You? How did us asking for service turn into her? Anyway we did not take the champagne apology. She told us she didn't charge for the wine, which was a lie because it was on the bill... haha and so were the desserts that were supposed to be included in the meal.. The Chef come out to our table because Denise was so upset that we wanted service. He did nothing.. We paid for our whole meal plus tip because we are not looking for anything for free, we just wanted a nice dinner either great service. Instead we left 3 hours later! Yes it took 3 hours! Mother's Day Saturday visit to this restaurant was our first and definitely not our last. A very rustic but elegant feel in the outdoor courtyard. Red brick walls mixed with century old metals painted a simply stated but graceful feel. This is a high end fine dining establishment. The food is exquisite. Delicious. Everything from filets to salads to shrimp to soups to cocktails. Even the potatoes and the asparagus-fabulous! Normally when I dine out, I try to fill my stomach with the main course plate because that is where the most expensive products of the meal are represented. This time I savored every course and even enjoyed a fine desert. The service was outstanding. Plenty of knowledgeable and helpful staff serving every table. Not just one server per area. My husband and I have been dining here for years and always love it. We received a gift card and promptly lost it. This place is frustrating. I have lived in chino a huge chunk of my life and only barely discovered this place. I placed a reservation for my bfs birthday and figured it seemed nice enough to come have a little dinner. The place itself is honestly super cute. I like the bar area and the outside area that they enclose later with tarp mechanisms. The servers were overall fine. Nothing to go home about. Except one guy that was kinda a smart ass with me and I didn't appreciate that but held my tongue and let it go... The food menu sounded good. My pasta originally sounded good. But didn't taste how it was described on the menu. I still ate essentially the whole thing. There was something off, almost aged tasting, about the chicken. I didn't like it but figured that's how it's supposed to taste. Also, forgot to mention we ordered the bread appetizer. It was lacking flavor for sure. Did like how hot it came out at least. Prices were a bit on the expensive side. Not $$ more like $$$ or $$$$. It wasn't until a few hours after I got home .. won't go into details but I had a rough night and for sure food poisoning. Owen's is one of the best finds in Chino. They change their menu regularly which makes it even better when you go back because you can try something different. Their specialty drinks are all so good also. The food has never disappointed and the quality exceeds the cost, by far. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and they had a birthday candle out and even brought out a yummy dessert along with a birthday card from the employees. This has been a place on our bucket list for sometime. HUSBAND and I ended up here for dinner on a Wednesday night. The menu does change daily I said not have the scallops that were in several pictures which was one of the reasons we wanted to go here. Nonetheless we were greeted by the Bartender one we walked in. The staff was friendly and service was excellent. We started with the French loaf with olive oil and balsamic and the deviled eggs. The bread was hot and fresh and the deviled eggs were good. This is probably the best part of the meal.We also had two of the specialty cocktails which did not disappoint, he had some thing with grapefruit liqueur and I had the vodka cucumber chili drink that was named something about an hombre. For dinner, my husband ordered the fillet and I ordered the pork belly. We had the fingerling potatoes and a Caesar salad on the side. We both agreed that we are extremely disappointed in the food. The fillet was ordered medium and came out medium well. The pork belly was flavorless and very hard to cut. It was recommended by our server but I should've probably went with my guts and ordered the shrimp. The fingerling potatoes were mediocre.
