Ordered: - Grilled Cinnamon Roll: Best cinnamon roll I've had in my life and I'm not even big on cinnamon rolls. THIS IS A MUST GET!!! I've never had anything like it - soooo good. - Chicken Fried Chicken and Gravy: Table favorite! The potatoes were AMAZING - fully cooked yet crispy. It had great flavor and was not too salty. The gravy was a complete miss; it had the consistency of shortening, tasted like it too!!! However, the entire dish was so good (great value too...) and flavorful that I was not even mad. - Tacos Del Dia (carne asada): Nothing wrong with this but it wasn't outstanding. The meat was a bit dry. Probably wouldn't order again unless I was craving tacos for breakfast. - Chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich: This was not good. The egg yolk was fully cooked and not runny. The chicken was dry and the bun was dry; so basically same thing as eating saltine crackers with peanut butter. - Horchata: Yeah, this was not it. Definitely not what you are expecting when you drive past on Woodward but had to try!! Great Mexican food and love the variety throughout the week. Wish there was more seating (got carry out instead) but that's all apart of the great atmosphere. Came on a Sunday evening & the place was pretty packed! Parking: there is parking in front, but when it's all packed... you have to park at a nearby establishment. Service: everyone was very friendly. Go to the right side to the cash register to order your food. The place is small & intimate. Can get packed quickly. Food: not a super vegetarian friendly place, but they can attempt to substitute some dishes. Chilaquiles - vegetarian & so damn good! The tomatillo sauce is phenomenal!! Veggie tacos - eh. Reason for the 4 stars. It wasn't anything special. Cinnamon roll - excellent!! Highly recommend getting!!! Knowing it's 24 hours, I'll def be back. Some things are great like their drinks (watermelon in particular) and chili cheese fries, but my cheese burger and wife's chicken sandwich were poor... as in, below my standards for even fast food. As good as the food is, the team there just doesn't get it right. I've visited at least 3 times and something was off every time. The first time, it was 30 minutes to close and the waiter who serviced me had an attitude. I was trying to be understanding because he might've been tired but I saw him again during the day and the same unpleasant attitude. My order has been wrong the last two visits. It's like the head chef doesn't listen, he does what he wants. This team doesn't have a system and their unorganized performance shows! It's a cute little spot that would be great for brunch or a late night run. We went at around 1 am and it was super packed and not a lot of seating. The food was really good and pretty cheap. My friends and I got the chicken and gravy and the macha chicken wings to share and it was definitely filling. The crispy potatoes were probably my favorite thing! This is a very tiny spot so definitely not great for bigger parties (2-3+) dining in. Food is unique for the most part. Tacos of the day is different everyday. Which kind of sucks when you prefer something else. One of the staff members didn't seem friendly. She made me feel stupid when ordering like I didn't know what I want to order. This place isnt that authentic food wise. Not sure if I would come back. Update: Came again. Was a last option place for me. Food was inconsistent. My boyfriend and I both got a chicken fried chicken sandwich and his yolk was runny while mine was fully cooked, over hard. Our cheese looked like it just got slapped on. Was not melted whatsoever. Don't get me started with the tacos. The mahi tacos, were meh. The coleslaw on the taco overpowered the fish. It was just soggy from the juices of the fish and the liquid from the slaw. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't good. It was decent. Now I have to worry about two more tacos because they only do a taco trio of only the meat of the day. I did enjoy my sandwich though. It's good that there isn't much seating inside because there isn't much parking outside. OWL (whatever that stands for) is a very interesting high end short order kitchen that serves breakfast 24/7 and doesn't close. The food is definitely fancy. Since they have Pellegrino in cans with a few different varieties, I'd expect that. No beer license, though. I chose the Tacos of the Day, it being a Taco Tuesday. Three pulled pork tacos arrived a short wait later. Very tasty, very handmade and really really good. All the right toppings, just the right amount of heat and spiciness. Really yummy. Tiny crowded diners are supposed to have great food right? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. In this case, it's a "no" for me. Stopped by Owl after an evening of drinks and cigars. Judging by the packed building, the full lot and people double-parking, I had great expectations. I lucked up and scored a spot fairly quickly. I squeezed inside to wait in line. The small menu looked promising, with chorizo chili, fresh French fries, burgers, tacos and a few other quick bite items. I opted for the chili and an order of fries, both for $9. I got my order quickly and rushed home to eat. The fries were overcooked and underwhelming, as they were also cold. The chili was fair. Would've been hearty had it contained more meat. The sausage was pretty scarce. The flavor was almost bland, not spicy at all. It contained plenty of beans, however. The staff was friendly enough, and that's always appreciated. read more

My husband is a fan of this place, and I'm all right about it. Yesterday we ordered online so that we could pick up tacos of the day and the chicken fried chicken meal for me and the kiddo. Just wanted to get in and get out. So, the food was pretty good, and I thought the size of what you got for the chicken fried chicken meal was good. Unfortunately, the place was packed to the gills with no social distancing, and a bunch of teenagers who didn't have masks but covered their face with their shirts. The staff was pleasant, could probably definitely use all business in this pandemic, but I'm not going back - especially on a Saturday afternoon when people act a damn fool like covid-19 is over. The weather was nice and there was outdoor seating. No reason to cram in there like that. Side note: Have you ever been in a carry out restaurant that has bulletproof glass, and just that little slot to give money and get your food? Like glad the staff is safe, but being a customer you feel like you're the one in danger? Yeah, that's how I felt at OWL, waiting just 5 minutes to pick up my carry order. F that feeling. Also, I didn't like how the really nice cashier handed me my drink by the top and not by the cup itself. I used to work in restaurants, so my OCD is based on good practice. My third visit - for breakfast. On my prior lunch visit, their hash looked wonderful. This morning I returned for breakfast and I can confirm that the has is ... wonderful. The meat is spicy sausage. Everything is coarsely chopped - just the way I like it. It includes eggs, any style, and thick-cut toast done on the flat top. It was served hot; within 15 seconds of being plated. Stephanie was my server, and she was excellent. I never needed or waited for anything because she anticipated my needs (hot sauce and refills). I was sitting in front of the cinnamon rolls. They look terrific, so I posted a photo. Not too small. Not too large. Stephanie mentioned that they are warmed on the flat top before serving. Late night munchies? Look no further and head to Owl! Owl will satisfy those munchie cravings late at night. We popped it late in the evening and it wasn't busy and our food was made super fast. The staff were really friendly and the chef was keeping his stove area so clean (seriously the best constant cleaning I have seen at a restaurant). The double nachos were really tasty and I really liked the chips, they were super crunchy. The restaurant was super cool and hip and the prices were reasonable. The nachos were plenty to share for 2 people. The chili type stuff on them was delish and the unique spin on typical nachos flowed together quite well. I believe there were some things on the menu that could be altered to be vegan. The staff is really friendly, so I am sure they would be able to let you know. I am positive there are vegetarian options. Although I no longer am vegan, the 2 years that I was, yelp was a place I could look to for tips on where to go. Where do I even begin? This is going to be a very long review: We've been going here for years, since they opened. We pretty much always order the same stuff and it's usually pick-up. We order from here so often that I can tell when they fix their options on the Toast app (POS). Sometime last week we put in an order for around $50 worth of food. Nachos, cheeseburger, wings, fries, cinnamon roll. Upon opening the bags at home, my fries and the queso/chili was missing for the nachos (literally main reason we get the nachos). This was NOT the first time they've forgotten items on the to-go orders and if it's usually a small sauce or something I don't mind but this time is was basically half our order. I called and the girl who answered was very kind and I let her know I was coming to pick up the missing items. Now, it's been a little over half hour since my burger was made and to drive there and back would be another half hour so I asked if they could remake my burger because by the time I pick up everything to eat my food at once my burger will be very cold and dry. She said yes and I told her I'll even bring in the first burger so they know I'm not trying to get an extra burger for free. She said no worries and I was walking out the door before I get a call back from another girl that said they can give me extra fries but they cannot remake my burger. I asked if I could speak to a manager at this point she said here's the cook. When the guy answered the phone, I said hi I asked the girl if I could speak to the manager and she said you're the cook and he responded with "I am the manager and the cook" and I apologized and let him know the first and second conversation with the two ladies. He didn't want to hear it. This guy responded with "I ain't remaking a burger you already got and ate" I said I didn't eat it, I'm driving another half hour total to pick up missing items I can bring back this burger but it's going to be cold by the time I pick up rest of order and we wanted to eat everything at once. It's already an inconvenience by the staff at OWL that I have to drive all the way there and back again. He was not having it. "I can give you another fry" and I said I didn't want two orders of fries, I won't eat two orders of fries, I just want the fry I ordered and paid for WITH my fresh burger" He said he can't do that because nothing was wrong with the burger. I said I'll just bring back my entire order for a refund and he YELLED back that fine he'll make the burger and the fries will be ready for me. I said ok and the queso/chili for my nachos and he proceeded to yell at me "NOW YOURE SAYING YOU DIDNT GET YOUR NACHOS!" And I said no, I got the nachos Blah blah blah. He kept cutting me off not listening to what I was saying and hung up on me in the end. He was extremely rude and some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. JUST BECAUSE OF HIM, we will never ever order from there. When I walked in he actually was came to the front and started crap with me again. Attitude and all. I know this one guy doesn't reflect the restaurants that the Bongiovanni's operate and this will not affect us going to Luxe or Market (just had amazing food at market Thursday) but to keep this guy on staff is dangerous for an already crazy time operating a restaurant during covid. My remade burger ended up being the only good tasting item (minus the parchment paper that was still attached, I can't make this shit up). My fries were ice cold and dry (assumed they gave me another orders fries that were already made) the nachos were completely stale which never happened to us from there, the queso and chili I picked up was only half full which I'm sure was on purpose towards me. The cinnamon roll sat for so long that it was cold when we finally got to it 1.5 hrs later. The wings were also cold by the time we ate. We ended up throwing everything except burger away after only taking two bites from everything else. The entire situation left us without an appetite in the end. He is a miserable cook, manager and overall person. I will miss you OWL but NEVER AGAIN will I taste anything from them again. read more

Taco Bell tastes better and has faster service! I had my first and last visit to Owl today. First of all there is literally no menu inside. I told the cashier that I had never been here before and asked for a menu. I looked on the wall behind the counter but there only seemed to be about eight or nine things to choose from. She just said we basically serve American food. Um okay so she went on to suggest double layer nachos and chicken tacos. So much for "American food." While I waited for my food, the staff was very loud and unprofessional. One girl announced she was quitting next week and asked everyone if she should "make a scene or just behave" on her last day. Then another girl was complaining about the owners not cleaning the place properly when they open for the day. didn't exactly give me a warm and welcoming feeling especially during a pandemic! What kind of monster puts radishes on nachos? The nachos were terrible and basically covered with some flavorless nasty runny chili. The chicken tacos were bland and had no cheese on them. Talk about a pleasant surprise. I went on a Friday afternoon after work with a couple of friends. I actually can't remember how we ended up here, but we all loved it. Owl reminds me of a modern version of an old-school diner. If that makes any sense. I can definitely see myself coming here by myself for a quick bite or sit down with a good book during a weekday. Owl has a pretty narrow interior and a simple layout. We came in at around 4pm. It wasn't too busy at the time and we were able to order right away with no wait. We got the tacos, chicken fried chicken sandwiches, and fries on the side. We were in the mood for some comfort food and we got exactly that. Everything tasted great and was exactly what you would want from a cute little diner like this after a week of work. And just to spice things up, we each got a Jarritos fruit pop (we all agreed the guava flavor was the best). I really appreciate places like this, minimalistic yet delicious. The service was great and everyone was very down to earth. This is definitely a place that will make you feel comfortable and at ease. Something else I learned is that it is open 24/7 (except on Sundays). How amazing is that. Which also means I certainly will be coming back! read more

Not too many places in the area are 24 hours which for early risers this place is outstanding. Also after a late night stopping in and having a last meal is perfect. This place is small, and you order at the counter and then sit and wait but there is only a small counter space which makes this place great. The staff has always been great. I have had everything on the menu at this point and not one things I wouldn't recommend. My favorite by far is the burger which is unique. The rotating tacos is also a must have. Came in for a breakfast meal later on a Saturday morning, so it was a little crowded. We were lucky enough to find parkign in front of the building but I do not know the area too well, so I am not sure where else I would have been able to park. Having never been there it was a little confusing on how we order. We weren't sure if a waitress is supposed to come to the table, we eventually realized after a couple minutes there was a place at the counter you can order and pay. Menu was a little confusing but I finally decided on something simple and went with the Egg sandwich with hamburger and cheese, grilled cinnamon roll which I shared and horchata to drink. I have had better horchata but it was still ok, it is not free refills so drink slow. After ordering and paying at the counter, there was a little confusion about seating when an employee took the only free table in the place to eat her lunch. She finally moved when she was told to by another employee because we were standing in the way waiting for a seat to open up. After sitting we only maybe waited for our food for less then 5 minutes so that was awesome, as we were really hungry! Food was delicious and after trying my husbands chicken fried chicken dish, I want to go back soon so I can get the chicken on a breakfast sandwich. No complaints as far as food is concerned, and everything was very fair pricing. Highly recommend for a quick meal. We will be back soon. read more
