Ever since that date in 2017 when Toby found ourselves in Rochester with dinner on our minds and Tony D's nearby I have never wavered from my love for New Haven-style pizza--for White Clam pie in particular. It is the premier pizza style, bar none. Ozzy's, while not the best apizza I've ever had, is definitely the best white clam pie I've had in California. Every bite rocked--full of clams, not too saucy, and with that signature medium-thick and chewy crust. It was like heaven itself was mixed into that pie and every slice you ate when straight to your soul so it could find paradise. It's so hard to recommend other pizza when superb pies like Ozzy's white clam pie exists. The service was amazing. The server was helpful and super nice. He even answered questions about the operation and was extolling the virtues of their happy hour program and their ability of renting out the space for large gatherings. It'd be difficult to find a more helpful server than that. I love the space too. It had lots of outdoor tables inside a dozen bungalows, with plenty of televisions for sporting events. I'm usually not a fan of outdoor seating, but this is how you should do it if you're forced to have your patrons dine outdoors. It's kind of magical to be that comfortable and pampered outside of a building. All in all, I think I found my new favorite pizza spot for both special occasions and just a random Sunday afternoon. read more

We had the Milty Rabbit, which comes with house made garlic ricotta, freshly made Italian sausage, baby spinach, pecorino, and mozzarella. The white sauce base had great flavor without being heavy or greasy, and all the toppings worked really well together. The fresh sausage and ricotta especially stood out. We also ordered the Keitel, a classic margherita pizza made with house made tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, and California olive oil. It was simple but incredibly well executed. The tomato sauce had great flavor, and the fresh ingredients really shined. Both pizzas had an excellent undercarriage with just the right amount of crispness. The crust was light, airy, and easy to fold without feeling heavy. From what I understand, they serve a New Haven style pizza, and the texture of the crust was one of the highlights of the meal. I learned recently that Ozzy Apizza closed their location in North Hollywood. I wanted to come back to try their marinara pizza which is called "Ray Liotta". Marinara pizza is cheeseless pizza. Not many restaurants carry a marinara pizza. This place is special. LA County has plenty of NY pizza and Chicago Deep Dish pizza and Detroit style pizza. Came out quick, pretty tasty. Cracker thin crust, decent undercarriage, perfect amount of sauce. At twenty dollars a pizza this is a little more expensive than the usual fare but the quality is definitely there. Wonderful chew, lovely bright tomato flavor, a splendid time overall. So now I know what Barstool Report's Pizza review - Dave Portnoy likes! I was really excited to find out that Ozzy's Apizza was walking distance from my Hotel. Despite that, I drove down and was able to find parking on the street. I ordered a half cheese and half pepperoni pizza. I liked the outdoor seating with heating - it looks like a great place to drink beer and have a pizza. I ordered mine to go and when I opened it, I found a really thin pizza with no flop. Now I get it. I know that they don't use coal - so it's not a "real" New Haven pizza, but now I understand what the deal is with the no flop and thin pizza. I really enjoyed it and I actually wanted to go back but they were closed on the day I wanted to go back. I'm really glad I was able to go there and experience what all the fuss is about. I wish they had Bud Light beer but you can't have everything LOL! I liked the cheese pizza more than the pepperoni; I wish the pepperoni was more "crispy" but it was good too! I've heard a lot of great things about Ozzys and I was super exited to try it, it hurts me to say this but this wasn't all that in my opinion. The Tomato pie (Liotta) had a propane/gas after taste with every bite which wasn't pleasant, I consumed 3 slices hoping the taste would go away while my group couldn't continue after 2 bites of their slice. The taste never went away and I did not take any leftovers home. As for the other pie (The Zupp) was better had a nice crunch to it and no flop which I personally like. The crust is thin like a cracker with some char on the undercarriage which I personally love. While the Zupp was solid I personally don't think it's worth driving from the west side as there are more flavorful pies at other places. I may have caught them on a off day but I still can't get over the Liotta and the propane aftertaste. The seating area is very large and beautiful though. read more

After arriving in Glendale and getting settled in, I was looking for a dinner spot close to the hotel. I hopped on the trusty Yelp app and came across Ozzy's Apizza. Even though they don't have a ton of reviews (they opened back in October of 2025), their rating is super high (4.9!). When I hopped on their website and saw University of Michigan grad Dave Portnoy reviewing their pizza, I was sold. Ambiance (4.5/5): Ozzy's is a little hard to find. It's located in the back of a beautiful outdoor patio. Look for the sign in the front and walk to the back until you see an outdoor pizza oven. I placed my order for takeout so I picked it up at the counter by the pizza oven. Had I stayed, it looked like an awesome place to chow down on some pizza and down some brews or cocktails. The patio has lights hung up and there's plenty of seating. Service (4.5/5): Since I ordered takeout, service wasn't a big part of the experience. I will say that ordering on their website was seamless and the guys working the counter were friendly. They proactively offered me some paper plates, parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper with my pizza. My 'za was ready when promised. All in all, no issues whatsoever. Drinks (N/A): I didn't order any drinks on this visit. Food (4.5/5): Now for the good stuff. Ozzy's started in New Haven, Connecticut and they've become pretty famous. They now have two locations in California, including this most recent one. The pizza is thin crust, which typically isn't my favorite, but boy was this some good 'za. I went with one of the more creative options on the menu: Tommy Want Wingy. Breaded chicken, red sauce, cheese, their homemade wing sauce, and ranch made this "wings" on a pizza concept. Their wing sauce is essentially a tangier and sweeter version of buffalo sauce. It's some good stuff but has some kick to it. The quality of the ingredients is there. All of the sauces were delicious. The breaded chicken was tender. The mozzarella was chef's kiss. It's the type of pizza you want to scarf down as quickly as possible. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't tend to like thin crust and typically prefers greasier pizza. My only knocks on Ozzy's is that you only get six slices (rather than the typical eight), and the pizza isn't cheap (though we are taking California prices). While the portion size could be better, and the pizza could be affordable, it's so good that they are still worthy of five-stars all-around. read more

I kinda like it when the employees bring the pizza and said that we beat the rush haha. I had bookmarked Ozzy's Apizza a while back and finally had a time to go! I did street parking nearby and walked over. It's in the Glen Arden Club and you just walk all the way to the back. Did not know what we wanted to try so asked for recs - we ended up getting a pepperoni idiot ($22) + Milty Rabbit ($25) We went to one of the outdoor yet covered tables and they had the TVs on the World Series games, so it was great atmosphere there. The pizza came by relatively quickly and we went for it. I liked the pepperoni red sauce pizza a bit more as the crust is a bit on the thin but not flimsy enough where everything falls apart- it's really sturdy! Flavor was great and I really enjoyed it. The Milty Rabbit (housemade garlic ricotta, Italian sausage, baby spinach, pecorino, and mozzarella) wasn't as good for me but it was a bit different in variety that the other. Great pies! Saw this place on social media and I say it meets the hype. Interesting setup. The Glendale location is all outdoor. Plenty of covered seating. It's a good place for groups. A few TVs to watch a game. There's also a small walk-up bar. I got the Bada Bing pizza. So good! Great thin crust, light crunch on the bottom. If you're a low-key fatty like me you can probably crush a whole pie by yourself. Will definitely be coming back to try more. Service was good. Friendly staff. Called on a Monday and was told the wait time for a pizza (one size only 14") was 10-15 min, I got there in 14. Pizza (half cheese half mushroom) was done but I wish I would've ordered on the spot. Pizza was already a bit lukewarm when I ate it. Undercarriage was a bit floppy but I won't be harsh since it was windy and they do bake it outdoors. Cheese wasn't that hot, not even a tiny string pull. Cannot say I will give the best review as my personal experience was on a to go pie. Probably eating and ordering on the spot is the way to go. Overall the ingredients were fresh as can be, the bread tastes great, the sauce was spectacular, and the cheese was a perfect portion. I get why Dave Portnoy gave the score he did. Mine was just based off of expectation I guess. Worth a try though, definitely worth another try for me at least. read more

Called in 30 mins ahead to place my order and it was ready when we got there. There are plenty of outdoor seating - picnic table style. There is also a bar. We got a Liotta and Rabbit - both were great. Fantastic crustttttt - I recommend just eating it there or within the first 15 mins to maximize the yumminess ;) Their tomato sauce is delicious on its own. Crust is super thin and I even eat the crust (especially when there's some nice char on it - my favorite part) the tomato sauce is so good - sweet but still bright. I waited months to try this place and I was so underwhelmed. The ambience is definitely off because it's outside and you don't have the option to eat inside if the wind is blowing 100 mph. It's also such a large space that if half of the outside isn't filled with people it looks empty. Me and the other guests had talked about the actual New Haven location and we didn't know what to expect since it's not cooked the same way due to California regulations. Come to find out from east coast friends and other locals this pizza is nothing like the original. Not the way it's baked, the sauce or the same cheese. Why call it New Haven if all of that's different? It was probably one of the most bland pizzas I've ever had. The sauce was forgettable, the cheese was lacking and the crust was so chewy my jaw started to hurt. They also try to accommodate the west coast with their own version of ranch and it's awful. But they don't call it ranch? There's plenty of places who don't cave in to ranch, but you did and then you didn't even execute it to make it memorable. Look, I know these people worked their butts off for this place so I wish them well, but I can't understand marketing a type of pizza that's nothing like what makes that style of pizza. The right people will support you, you don't have to be for everyone, you should have stayed true to tradition. So now it's this half-ass, somewhat NH somewhat California style thin crust pizza with no soul, why...because it's not authentic starting with how it's baked.
