We went for the DineLA prix fixe dinner, which ended up being a good value at $45 for two shareable appetizers, a pizza, and ice cream. The waitress helpfully advised us that ordering one prix fixe set and maybe an additional item was enough for two to share. We decided to add one additional pizza. And yeah, it was a lot of food. We ended up super full and had half a pizza leftover. The DineLA set came with: - Caesar salad: simple but well done - Melon (with chile, peanuts, mint, basil, lime): an unusual sweet, savory, spicy combination I've never had before, but it worked well - Salame Piccante pizza: Good, simple, but topped with chili honey which made it pretty spicy - ice cream: We chose mango sorbet, which was straightforward and very mangoey - Lamb Tzatziki pizza (not DineLA): Glad we tried another pizza. This was very good and unique. I've had countless pizzas, but not one like this before. The lamb, tzatziki and mint worked really well. The food was excellent, the service was good. The only negative, but significant, part of the experience was that we were seated outside on their patio and the whole time, there were intermittent wafts of what smelled like sewage. Our usual pizza spot was closed for Easter, so we decided to pivot and ended up at Wildcrust on a whim--and I'm so glad we did. The food was absolutely spectacular. We started with the meatballs, which honestly could have been a meal on their own. The pizzas came shortly after (Funghi and Salame Piccante), and both were excellent, perfectly cooked with great flavor. Service was just as impressive. Travis was fantastic and helped us pick the perfect glass of wine to complement our meal. Overall, this turned out to be an unexpected find and a great experience. Wildcrust has become one of our absolute favorite spots for Italian food and is firmly in our regular rotation. We love it so much that we've hosted several team events here and celebrated more than a few birthdays. The owners, Sam and Jean, are wonderful, and the entire staff makes the place feel like family. Travis in particular always makes us laugh, and Jean is truly one of the warmest people you'll ever meet. Every time we're there, she somehow makes us feel special and completely at home. Of course, none of that would matter if the food weren't so ridiculously good. The meatballs (and that sauce!), the Caesar salad--which might honestly be the best in LA--the pizzas, the brussel sprouts (like nothing you've ever had) the steak, the wine...and, unexpectedly, the sake. Yes, sake! Sam is half Japanese and brings some really interesting influences to the menu that somehow pair perfectly with their wood-fired pizzas. Stopped by for a quick dinner since I was in the area. Wildcrust has been on my list since they opened. It is a really cute spot with a nice patio. There is a small lot out front if you are lucky enough to get a parking spot. We ordered two dishes: the calamari and the bacon onion jam pizza. The calamari had everything bagel seasoning and a side of marinara which was good. Nothing amazing but good. The pizza was very good. It had a good sweetness to it and the chilis gave it good heat. We did ask for a side of marinara with the pizza since I'm more of a red sauce person. Overall, the service was great. They gave great recommendations and were very attentive. Was feeling like pizza the other night, and was and Eagle Rock, and Wildcrust was in my list of places I needed to try, so made a quick reservation and headed over. Parking at Wildcrust is minimal in their parking lot, so you may need to find street parking, which is much more ample. The restaurant itself has an indoor and patio seating option. It was raining hard when we arrived, so inside was the move. We were sat immediately and water was brought to the table. After a quick look at the menu, we started with the pork belly and meatballs, with two pizzas: the margherita and bacon onion jam. The pork belly passed the eyeball test with some pickled cabbage on top. The meat,itself, was thinly slides and pretty fatty overall. Would have preferred more meat to fat ratio. Also, it could have been crispier on top to give the nice textured bite you look for from pork belly. The meatballs, oh the other hand, were outstanding. Definitely in my top three meatballs I've ever had. They use a snake rivers farm beef, and you can taste the quality, but it what feel like there's Parmesan mixed directly into the beef giving it this extra amazingness to each bite. The meatballs are layers with a chipotle tomato sauce giving a little spice and smokiness. Just a great meatball, would definitely recommend. Now you the pizzas. They are on the smaller end when it comes to pizzas for a table, and that's fine. First, the margherita. The tomatoes used tasted very nice, and the dough itself was good. The cheese felt a little cold in some areas, for some reason, so it became overly hard and not that soft, creamier texture. It also felt a little overly wet for a margherita. The bacon onion jam was different. It comes with goat cheese which, for be, I didn't feel was very prominent, to the point I didn't notice it. But a little ghost cheese goes a long way so this was probably for the best. But I was expecting this to really stand out and leave a memorable mark on me but, for some reason, it didn't. Overall, Wildcrust is a wood for oven pizza spot in Highland Park serving to they're take on the classic Naples item. If you go, absolutely order the meatballs, and bring me one as well. Great potential here with lots to work out. The Good: The Squash blossoms were yummy, the flavor and presentation was great! The meatballs were also good, the sauce was slightly spicy which was a great touch. Their spritz is also really refreshing and surprisingly strong. Ambiance absolutely gets a 5/5! The Not so good: The space is small and can feel quite cramped we were put at a weird setup table where we both faced the wall and kept getting bumped into when people walked behind us. The wait was honestly kinda ridiculous, they recommend you put the dishes in together but then bring everything out like 15-20 minutes apart the meal did not feel cohesive whatsoever. Out of those three, for sure the Margherita is the best one. Tip: Get the Calabrian Chili on the side. Note: They do not have ranch dressing for all you ranch dipping pizza lovers. Get the meatballs. Meatballs - 5/5, so flavorful, doesn't just taste like your regular old meaty meatballs. It was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. Would def get this again. Wildcrust is one of those places that keeps me up at night thinking about it. Not only is it the cutest retro chic interior, but the staff are all so friendly and want you to know about your food as much as enjoy it. I always eat ungodly amounts of pizza here yet never feel bloated or disgusting after. Their little gem lettuce caesar salad is a buttery dream. They released some new menu items when I went and they are absolutely must-try items. The japanese sweet potato with pomegranate and butter reduction was so unbelievably melt in your mouth. It's funny I was just talking with a friend about how pomegranates are royalty food, and it does add that touch of esteem to this dish. The new chicken dish was the most moist chicken I've ever had, and the pickled onion it comes with was so refreshing it was the perfect pairing. We were also privileged to try the banana ice cream the chef was playing around with and I must beg for that to be released to the menu. It was such a stretchy and creamy consistency, I was obsessed with the texture and it tasted exactly like Korean Banana Kick snacks. Once you place your order you'll receive an email order receipt with your pick up time on the top left. You won't receive any text or email saying it's ready for pickup, you just show up. I Picked it up 10 min after the eta and I was glad that it was still warm. Salame Piccante: Upon the first bite, I definitely tasted the charred smoky flavor from the crust. Then a combination of salty, sweet and a slight spiciness. The sweetness reminded me of hot honey. This is a thin but structured pizza. Overall the pizza was good and I enjoyed it. We had 3 glasses of wine between the 2 of us. The only downside (besides the lack of parking) is that our bill was over $200 for a really good, but pizza dinner. With the appetizer @ $29 for good but 5 pieces of hamachi crudo, asparagus coming in at $23, and pizzas averaging $26 each, this is a pricey meal. Add wine at an average of $20/glass and it adds up. This is not your average casual dinner for 2. But the location, ambience and service suggest otherwise. Would I return? I don't think so. been a long time since i really checked out highland park though my first residence after graduating college was in highland park. what a change in the scenery, especially among the shops and restaurants. if wildcrust is an example of the new places here then highland park's future looks bright. i came here to try the pizza and it did not disappoint. there are, i think, six or seven pizzas and they are all slightly bigger than personal sizes but ideal for sharing. get two and you can share among two or three people. i went for the salame one which is more traditional but it has a slight kick to it, more flavor than heat. the crust was sourdough and i imagine it was either a coal- or wood-fired oven. thin crust, totally balanced and sublime. angelina the GM came by to check on me and convinced me to try the meatballs. they did not disappoint either. they were crispy on the outside so i imagine they were probably baked and then put onto a grill after. whatever they did, there was a ton of flavor. angelina is super warm and friendly and has a smile that makes you feel like an old friend. the place has a great neighborly feel. parking is a little challenging but a small price to pay. i will be back. what a cool find. read more

Cesar Salad: I wanna say this was probably one of the best Cesar salads I've ever had -- each piece of salad was coated nicely in the Cesar sauce and the crunchy bits in each bite made it 1000x better. Salame Piccante: Woah.. the way the crust was light & airy. They were super generous with the amount of salame they put on the pizza & the sauce and hints of honey altogether was *chefs kiss*. Burrata: The burrata was delicious and super fresh! This was a nice light side we had before our main dish came out. Broccolini: The broccolini was sooo good and flavorful -- you gotta make sure to dip as much sauce as possible into the veggie or you're missing out. I've been here twice and can now officially say this is my new favorite pizza in town! The crust is just perfect. I've had the margherita, funghi, and salame so far and all of them were delicious. (Especially the Charming Travis, who remembered me and has perfect timing and suggestions) Caesar salad with delectable tiny, cheesy croutons. Mushroom pizza that is reminiscent of pizza that I had in Tuscany. The finish to my meal was an apple sorbet that tasted something like a fresh frozen apple sauce with unexpected bits of salt. Wildcrust is a relatively new restaurant in Eagle Rock and I had the opportunity to visit with a friend recently - it was such a great experience! We ordered the mushroom pizza, cabbage dish, and duck liver mousse. All three items were absolutely delicious. The pizza had a generous amount of mushrooms and the crust was perfectly thin and crispy. The cabbage was roasted and the flavor was unique and so tasty and sweet. The duck liver mousse came with yummy pieces of bread and was creamy and decadent. We ordered some wine which paired well with the meal - would definitely recommend for a cute date night or girls night out! Only warning is that they have a communal seating area where they may place you if you choose indoor seating; if it's you and one other person, you could be placed in the middle of the table across from each other. Upon arriving we were greeted by the waitress. We enjoyed the ambiance even though it is cozier than I had anticipated. My only contructive criticism about this dish would be to crisp up the skin so it'll add an elevated profile to this dish. The au jus was prepared the right way. Came here with a reservation at 5:15 on a Saturday and it was bustling, understandably, about 10 days after their opening. We booked outdoor patio but it was raining and gray on the day, so the friendly staff graciously accommodated us inside. To start, we had the grilled cabbage which was delicious! Full of flavor, the pecorino sauce and sundried tomatoes really tied the dish together. Would definitely get this again and try their other wood fire grilled apps!! For pizzas, we had the funghi and lamb tzatziki (their signature)! The funghi was delightful - they used oyster mushrooms which provided more bite and less sogginess, but above all I loved that they used a red sauce instead of a customary white. The dough, sourdough and fermented for over 48 hrs, was soooo flavorful - tangy with just the right crisp and chew. The lamb tzatziki was also delicious, and not overwhelmingly heavy or complicated. Really enjoyed the green sauce on top with bites of mint and tender shredded lamb. We also shared a glass of red - lean wines by the glass menu but good picks. And shared a slice of tres leches cake bc we wanted to treat ourselves. Despite bringing a good appetite, we went home with half of 1 pizza. I will definitely be back and want to try their other pizzas and grilled dishes! Ambiance was moody and perfect for a date or intimate catch up.
