We were in search of a nice place for lunch this afternoon. Most of the local eateries are only serving dinner these days due to COVID, so we opted for P.F. Chang's. We started with an order of edamame and a cup of hot and sour soup. The soup's broth was nice and thick, loaded with tofu, mushrooms, and chicken. It was a nice balance of the hot and sour flavors. We ordered the salt and pepper prawns, as it is one of our favorites. It seems they have changed the dish since we last visited. Not much of a salt and pepper taste, and they no longer throw in fermented black beans, which gave the dish a little bite. That being said, the prawns were big and tender with a delicious crispy batter, tossed with red chili peppers and shredded scallions. The decor has changed but the food is still good. The restaurant is laid out nicely with padded bench seating along the exterior wall with tables space nicely apart and padded chairs on the other side of the table. Also standalone tables and chairs throughout. The sound level is much better than most places but then again it was only about 1/4 full. The only complaint was the temperature. It was cold enough to go back to the car to get sweaters. The service was absolutely EXCELLENT with Taylor(?). She was very friendly and acted like she really loved her job! And that job she does is GREAT! She checks back often and does a great job when taking the order. The food very good and spiced very well. The shrimp in the Hokkein Street Noodles was spiced better than the rest. One main dish and appetizer is more than enough for 2 people. Definitely recommend it! read more

She was very prompt and was on top of our orders and anything that we needed. The food was great and a great place to eat. We made a reservation for 5 at 6:30. Arrives at 6:19 and checked in. It was clearly overwhelmingly busy. They never texted us... at 7:15 I went up to let them know we were down to 4 as someone had to leave due to the delay (I wish we all had). They had no recollection of our reservation. Showed them my confirmation. They said our last name incorrectly no less than 7 times. We got a table after that round of BS at 7:55. Waitress approached, she is delightful and did her very best. The service was great. We tipped accordingly. The food was literally gross. Lettuce wraps were good. Orange chicken... gross Short ribs.... Gross Dumplings... just okay but not good King pao chicken... slimy and cold I will never eat there again. McDonald's would have been better and probably wouldn't have made us all feel sick all night. We just wanted to spend one meal together before heading our separate ways. We were all late, tired and aggravated instead. Whatever happened there, management needs to get it together. It's being run horribly and not a manager to be seen anywhere. We went during lunch and there was no wait. There was hand sanitizer soon as you walked in and the tables were separate for social distancing. Our waiter was great and I hate I forgot his name! He was very patient with us not making up our minds and very attentive. The food came and hot and fast! The friend rice had big chunks of meat and shrimp and was a healthy serving. Out town on business and decided to grab something that was convenient and familiar. Convenient being that it's located across from the Embassy Suites Crabtree (Raleigh,NC) in the outside of the Crabtree Valley Mall. Location is perfect, restaurant was clean, food was great, but the kitchen and service not so good. Arrived a few hours before closing and was properly greeted by the hostess. When seated, it took more than a few minutes for someone to come by. As I looked around it seems as though no one was eating, no food on the table, should've equaled Lathon it's time to GO. However, I decided to stay. For starters I ordered the Cecilia's Pork Dumplings ($5.00) pan seared. They took a minute to come out, but again, no issues with the food. For the entree I pulled out the big guns {lol} and opted for the Life Long Noodles and Prawns ($14.95). This dish is one to life for. It's comprised of garlic egg noodles, small black beans, chili peppers, and of course the prawns. Again, no issue with the food, but it took forever to come out. Dear PF Chang - You cannot have staff in the back eating in the kitchen; point blank period. I sat and watched this for two hours. It's unacceptable!!! It took so long for the customers food to come out because the cooks were too busy making food for the staff. On this particular evening I overheard the manager comping the dinner at two tables. I made mention to my server that I was not happy about the amount of time it took for my food to get to me. Her response is not even worth mentioning. At this point I'm just going to give up on all P.F. Chang's. The last few times we've visited the restaurant(no matter the location) either the service or food was terrible. In this case it was both! Our waitress was not personable or engaging at all. Seem like she was irritated or rushing. But I noticed her other tables received better service but as always I digress. We went to celebrate a friend's bday and she also was not a happy camper. Our appetizer didn't look too fresh and tasted greasy. Upon seeing another persons same app later on that night I could tell a big difference in the quality. I'm not sure when they started combining the brown and white rices in the same bowl but that was new to us. I ordered the spicy eggplant and added broccoli and shiitakes, which was a $2.95 up charge. Which came out way too saucy and if they were going to make it that saucy it should have came in a bowl. The eggplant was cooked too long bc it was very slimy tasting and everything just seemed to mush together. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be but I will not be ordering that again. We had some leftovers, so I asked for a takeout container which the waitress plopped on the table and walked off. I ended up having to pack it up myself which is also new to me bc I noticed other servers packing it up. We did have a short wait but our food was very delicious. The feast specials are a great value! You get soup or salad, an appetizer for the table and entree each for around $20 a person. During this seemingly endless COVID-19 pandemic which affects our daily lives some restaurants handle it better than others! This PF Chang's in Raleigh Durham was hopping busy but all the staff and most customers were compliant with local regulations. This did not hamper their abilities to serve the public in a quick and efficient manner. Our server was both attentive and friendly and easy to understand even while wearing a face mask. My drink was refreshed as needed and my food order Dan Dan Noodles (which is no longer listed on the Menu) was piping hot, plentiful in size, and delicious! Service and Food: There is definitely room for improvement. The restaurant was dirty, for example a few tables around us were dirty, the rug was dirty, ladies bathroom was unkept. The service was okay. Food: We ordered their " famous " lettuce wraps. I did NOT like them at all. The meat was so chopped that it was falling all over the place. The lettuce wraps were wet. We came here for the new all you can eat chicken & veggie lettuce wraps and was happy we did. The food was real good and the server was excellent They now have specials every weekday and at a good price too. We used to go to the one in Tampa all the time when we lived there and even though This one is much smaller but very nice. I really would've given this place a "4," but the service was just a bit off. That, and the tables are crammed together to the point where I could hear every word of the conversations on either side of us. AND smell the horrible breath of the woman on my left. Cripes! To start off, we had the pan-fried pork dumpling appetizer, which was really good. I also had a cup of the hot and sour soup, which is a must for me when visiting a Chinese restaurant. A lot of places have hot and sour soup, but it's rarely any good. It usually just spicy-hot, with no zing. I like zing! PF Chang's had it covered; great-tasting soup. For entrees, the wife had the pepper beef, and I had the Hokkien Street Noodles (rice noodles with veggies, shrimp, chicken and egg) and really enjoyed it. The entrees were served within two minutes of receiving our apps though, which annoys me to no end. Great, the food comes out quickly! Now I've got a small table full of stuff that I'm trying to maneuver around. What set the night back a bit was the service. Our server was too much on the inattentive and nonchalant side for my taste. She wasn't rude...just uninterested. What set me off was waiting to get my card back after giving it to her for the bill; she disappeared for almost 20 minutes! It should never take that long to get checked out. I wish I got our server's name because she was FANTASTIC! If you can identify her by my description, please give her a pat on the back for me! She was maybe in her 40's and had mid-length curly dark hair pulled back. She had some gold necklaces and was SPECTACULAR at her job! She helped me pick my lunch which was a WIN! (Udon noodles with tofu) and went above and beyond to help my gluten-free friend get to eat her dream meal! Just great energy the whole time! The food was YUMMARIFFIC too! We were SO glad we went there for lunch! (We actually went to your next door neighbor first and sat down with the menu and it just didn't feel right so we left and we were SO GLAD we did!) I was so excited to get gluten free take-out from P.F. Chang's, but unfortunately, my meal was just "okay". My Mongolian beef was a little overcooked and underwhelming on the flavor side. I added four gluten free soy sauce packets to make it better. At 7:40 pm on a Tuesday, at least 10 people were waiting for tables. I hope their food met their expectations. I ate some kernels of uncooked rice and the food was really cold even though I picked it up on time. I do like the take-out bag though. read more

It's my first time at PF Chang's! I've eaten some of their frozen foods from the grocery store but never actually served fresh from the kitchen. And now I've had the chance to go last Saturday night to celebrate a friend accepting a new job. This PF Chang's is located in the Crabtree Valley Mall shopping area so parking can be a nightmare, especially on a Saturday night. I came with no reservation and when I walked in I saw a huge line of people waiting for a table and thought to myself "oh no I should have eaten something before, it's going to be a long wait", but surprisingly enough, since it was just the two of us, they were able to give us a table immediately (more is not always merrier). Service: Our food came out very quickly considering how packed the restaurant was. The waitresses were good about waiting on us during the ordering process but they never came by to check in during the meal and we were done for nearly 10 minutes before anyone came by to offer the check. Atmosphere: Very loud and very cramped. I could hardly hear what my friend was saying because everyone's conversations float up into the air and join into a jumble of noises and words. But the space is clean otherwise. Food: We ordered the Tempura Calamari & Vegetables to start off. As good as any calamari I've had in other places though a bit heavy on the tempura. For my entree I got the Thai Harvest Curry with brown rice. It was spicier than I expected because of the Fresno peppers and the curry sweeter than I would have liked, but a beautiful display and a very large portion. We go every year on New Year's Eve & this is the last year we'll go. We got there early to do valet & the line was really long & then when we finally got up there the valet was staking the sign down at 6:00 & just said we're done for the night. Our waitress was horrible, we kept having to ask for drinks over & over & didn't get silverware or napkins, we had to ask & she got an attitude & took forever to bring them. The food was not good at all, most of it was cold. I felt sick last year after eating there & this year I felt sick while I was still at the restaurant & our entire family had upset stomachs the rest of the night & still today. THIS IS GOING TO BE A LENGTHY REVIEW... I HAVE A FEW THINGS TO SAY This was my first time at this particular PF Chang's and (because of the rude, elitist manager), I won't be back. Date and Time: Saturday, July 01, 2023. 4pm - 7:30pm. The wait staff, the bartender and hostesses were VERY Friendly and EXTREMELY helpful. This was my BIRTHDAY Dinner and it took everything in me to keep from making a scene. From the moment I walked in the door, this tall, bald manager guy was defensive and confrontational. Without a greeting or concerned for the circumstances, this manager goes into this very loud public lecture and reprimands us because some members of my party were a bit late... SELF INCLUDED. Let me provide some contacts. I wanted to drink responsibly so I hired a Lyft driver to take me to the restaurant. That way I wouldn't have to drink and drive. Also, I moved into a condo that is and has been newly constructed. The address doesn't show up in all of the navigation platforms. The first Lyft driver could make it but the second Lyft driver did. It was very disappointing and disheartening to come into the restaurant and to be treated like I was some irresponsible child. All this when the restaurant wasn't even 25% occupied. I would have expected more from someone who called themselves a manager. Not so much as a benefit of the doubt as to my well-being or safety. For all. He knew, I could have been involved in an accident or something. He didn't seem to care. The only reason I didn't walk out on-the-spot was because of my guests. It wasn't like I was just dropping in to intentionally create an inconvenience. I had visited this particular restaurant during the week to be assured that things would be okay, Met with the hostesses as well as this particular manager... and also left my cell number just in case I need to be contacted. During the entire duration of my large party meal, not once did he come over to check on us or ask if everything was okay. For God's sake, he didn't even wish me a happy birthday!!! He just walked by more than a dozen times without any eye contact or communication. After we had our meals and a couple of us were lingering around to talk, He stood like a sentry over us as if to rush us along...Never introduced himself nor checked to see if all was well. We left and didn't let his indifference sour our mood. I even made it a point to respond to my party's birthday song with a VERY LOUD refrain!!! OTHER PATRONS CLAPPED AND WISHED ME A HAPPY BIRTHDAY. THIS MANAGER NEVER SAID A WORD TO ME AFTER HIS INITIAL REPRIMAND....NEVER MADE US FEEL ACCOMMODATED... EVEN AFTER WALKING BY OUR TABLE MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES. A DISGRACE! Let's recap.... This place needs better management or something. I tried curbside yesterday, placed my order online over an hour before pickup time. This is a Tuesday, the restaurant is near empty. This the second time I tried curbside here on a mid-week and the second time I had to go inside and wait to get it. I call when I get there and they tell me they will let them know and bring it out. So I wait, and wait, and wait.... 20+ minutes later I go inside. Bunch of employees there but nobody actually helping customers because there are so few. Yet the guy at the Take-out desk is on the phone with 2 people waiting, so I continue to to wait, at least now they can see me waiting. I finally get to approach him and I show him my order, he goes around the corner and hands it to me. No chop sticks, no napkins, no utensils, ok no big deal, I am taking it home but not would be in trouble. I am not sure how long it was sitting there but can tell you it was not hot. So lets go into the quality. I ordered the Mongolian beef, a $19 entre that was very good but not that much beef, on a huge pile of onion stalks. I tried the Bulgogi, now I have been to Korea, what they served here was NOT Bulgogi in fact it tasted like charred meat, lots of fill, it was inedible after one bite, it went into the trash. Nobody would touch it. The rest of the entrées were decent. The Wonton soup was ok, not great. So I spent $90 for take out,(supposed to be curbside) along with the hassle of getting in and out of this place with mall traffic. I give this 2 stars. There should be a way to retract my pre-paid gratuity. If I say I am going to be there at a specific time an hour before and the restaurant is near empty is there a reason I cant pull up, get my food and go? In my personal opinion, this is not a place you can go to and pick up dinner on your way home, it is just too much of an inconvenience. Went here for lunch and got the poke bowl. It was ok, but I would rather get a poke bowl which I can customize the ingredients including the type of fish, all for less money. The bowl was tasty but had some things, such as onion, that I'd rather not have had. The service wasn't the best either, nobody offered to fill my empty drink. Group of 5 dining on Saturday, 1/7/23 to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Reservations for 6pm. Arrived at 5:50 and were told that table would be available 'close to 6'. Long story short, we were not seated until 6:55. We requested an update twice between about 6:10 and 6:45 and were told that they were 'really busy'. Once seated, the server did his best to attend to our party promptly and the food was brought out in a reasonable time period, so no issues there. Food was also tasty so that part was OK. As I observed other diners, I came to believe that part of the issue was large parties (more than 4) who were not only celebrating special occasions but decided that the restaurant would be a good place for a fashion photo shoot, thereby greatly extending their time at the table. PFC could have made things a bit better by acknowledging up front the issue and inconvenience and offering compensation (free apps, or drinks or similar). But nothing like that was offered. The overall experience was disappointing and although this was not my first trip to this location, it may well be my last! I feel that I could have gotten better quality food in a comparable environment at a lower price with better (faster) service elsewhere. I don't blame the server or the hosts, but someone needs to take accountability to keep the table turnover flowing at a reasonable pace, or else tell people showing up with reservations that they are going to be waiting up to an hour to be seated. We spoke to other parties waiting to be seated who were also having similar delays. Overall, this was not a good dining experience. I love this place. Although it's a chain, it's always delicious. I've been to the one at Crabtree & Southpoint. Service is always pretty good. There is a nice wine and drink selection. Some of my favorite menu items include the hot & sour soup, wonton soup (although there should be more wontons added), lettuce wraps (YUM), crispy honey chicken, Chang's spicy chicken, and the Thai harvest curry. My wife insisted I drive 30 minutes out to get the "best lettuce wraps" around to satisfy her pregnancy urge. I figured it wouldn't hurt to pay the premium $16 to get a professionally prepared dish that would satisfy her well-deserved want. They burned their "specialty" and that dish was complete garbage. Too bad I didn't realize it until I was back home. Silver lining: my wife us now fully committed to never get any food from that overpriced restaurant ever again.
