I've eaten here plenty of times but man, the dynamic is different when you're picking up food for other people. The staff treat you like you're non existent and today was such a horrible experience. I came to pick up food at the designated table and it was not ready. Time passed so I sat down on a chair, while waiting, shortly after, a bald male worker stated in a condescending tone, "Why are you sitting in my chairs?" (There are no signs stating not to). I replied, "I didn't know I couldn't sit down". His response was, "I prefer you not to be around the food". Funny thing was I was there to pick up food two days prior and there was a guy sitting down and several employees passed and didn't say anything to him. We placed an order online on Mother's Day around 8:15 pm. At about 9:30 we received a confirmation that the driver was there to pick it up. At 9:45 we received a cancellation email. I tried to contact the restaurant multiple times but they did not answer. I called again after 10 and now that the kitchen is closed it was OK to answer. I ordered from here the other day and it was TERRIBLE. First of all, I am very understanding that we're in a pandemic and restaurants are understaffed. BUT.. I've ordered here multiple times and the food is cold as can be and the portion is so small it's ridiculous! It's like I'm ordering a lunch portion. Don't charge people almost $20 for a scoop of Mongolian beef and some rice. We ordered crab wonton - they said it was going to be spicy, no it was not and for 10.00 the taste or the portion wasnt that great. Besides the OK food, I absolutely disliked the service by the front door greeter/seater. She wasnt too nice and whenever I asked her a question, its like she either despised me or avoided my by mumbling the question and I couldnt hear a thing. The male server was nice, but extremely unattentive. He must have passed by several times with a whoosh without asking how we were doing until I had to call him over. Once for the sauce, once for a refill (which took forever) and lastly for the check. He was checking all the people besides us, so I dont know why he didnt check in with us, I thought that was rude. Im not coming back to this location. I prefer the Lombard location much more. The ambience is better there too. The ambience here wasnt that amazing except the cool looking chinese lanterns. I would give it a one star but the dynamite shrimp saved that from happening. My sister and I wanted a change of pace so we decided to dine out with her two kids. I have not been to Woodfield Mall in some time and it was beyond ridiculous to find parking by the PF Chang because they roped off a huge area where you can drop your car off for $5 parking. If they didn't do that I think many cars that were driving around like we were for 10 minutes would of found parking right away. We had reservations and were seated right away. We didn't have anyone serve us at our table for about 7-10 minutes. Many people were cleaning tables around us. I believe one was the manager. The waiter came and we put in the kids order right away and our drinks. He came back with waters for the adults and nothing for the kids. We had to ask 3 times for him to bring the drinks. Way back in the day, I worked at PF Chang's (in Northbrook) during college. It was a great experience for a couple of years and I made some of my best friends during that time. I remember the food being just amazing. Now I don't know if my palette has just matured a bit or if the food has gone downhill, but it just isn't what it used to be. Crispy honey chicken is what I would always get after my shift and it's what I got on this visit as well. The portion size is smaller, the price is $4 more than 10 years ago (I get it) and the recipe just seems a bit different. The sauce is not as saucy as it used to be - more sticky and just not as flavorful or abundent on the chicken. The chicken itself was still great though. On the positive, my friends and started with the Lettuce Wraps and they were as good as ever! Loved them but I think the chicken lettuce wraps I make at home truly rival these. We also all shared Chang's Spicy Chicken and this was just as I remembered it. Just the right amount of spice (ie my weak tastebuds could tolerate it) and just overall a solid signature dish of PF's. The melons tasted like they sucked the sweetness and all the taste off of it leaving you with just a soggy green ball of nothing. The shrimp were nice and plump, I appreciated that but again, lacks taste. These 2 items cost $31.08. I could've went to my neighborhood hole in the wall joint and have gotten a tasty Chinese food. This used to be our favorite place to grab Chinese. We would drive out from Chicago when they opened and then again from Belvidere when we moved. They removed our favorite dish (beef a La szechwan) from their menu a few years ago and we weren't too impressed with them at that point. Today, March 12, 2023, we were in the neighborhood and stopped in. Chicken lettuce wraps...changed the sauce for the umpteeth time, Mongolian Beef...was just beef and green onion - no flavor at all, Beef and broccoli...completely soaked in sauce with way overcooked broccoli, fried rice...zero flavor and felt like mush in your mouth. The only decent things were the orange chicken and banana spring rolls...which haven't changed and still come me with that amazing coconut ice cream. This place has truly become no better than your neighborhood Chinese takeout and is not at all worth the prices on their menu or the drive to get there. read more

This visit started off a bit of a disappointment - we were excited to be there for Happy Hour and reduced cost appetizers but when we went to order our meals I found our server initially "difficult." Let me explain that I have Type 2 Diabetes and white rice is not even an option. I can eat brown rice but it still has a lot of carbs so my choices are restricted; my family has no restrictions and they LOVE Chinese food. In a past visit to PF Changs our server had offered shredded cabbage (coleslaw mix) instead of rice. This seemed odd at first but we tried it and loved it! In fact, I have eaten at PF Changs every few months versus once a year, as was common before. Having this option of the cabbage was the deciding factor to eat here more often and my wife also eats her meal with the cabbage too. When we tried to order this the server expressed disbelief that such an option was available, and we continued to press that this had been done for us many times. After several minutes of haggling he finally decided to see if what we asked for could be done. To our relief he brought cabbage (and even a second bowl) and we enjoyed our meal. While the outcome was positive I felt that our getting there was far more difficult than it had to be. Will I come again? Certainly, because I enjoy their food and they are one of the few places who will go out of the box and give me cabbage with my meal. Last minute patio bday dinner on an early Saturday evening. Surprised to see the patio wasn't too busy but maybe due to the 95 degree weather. I have dined at many PF Chang's including Chicago and Lombard. Very dissapointed here as the service was very slow and bltje food quality was subpar. We ordered 2 veggie egg rolls which somehow came out 2 mins before our first entree. By the time the Sriracha showed up the rolls were cold. Ordered a fried rice and a side of broccoli for our child off the kids menu but ended up with fried rice and fruit? Nobody cared to ask if everything was okay anyway. As far as the Kung Pao goes.... Came 20 mins after our child's entree and very dried out. Seems as if they forgot about us but again never cared to ask how things were anyway. No need to make it fancy if you're just going to add pieces of canned mandarin oranges in it. It is bad enough that I feel cheated for the price I paid this dish, but the chicken itself tasted bland and not even seasoned or marinated. The sauce used for this dish had a very heavy garlic taste slathered on after the chicken was cooked. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, this place should not even be on your radar. If you are looking for tasty, affordable, Chinese takeout; please avoid this place. It will save you time and money. My wife and I waited and hour to be seated and we didn't even finish our food. We brought home the leftover but neither of us wants to look at it. Never in my life have I ever felt like a restaurant offended me and my tongue. This was my first visit to P F Chang's. It has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now. I can say that it has lived up to its reputation. The food and service was outstanding. I'd like to say thanks to Luis for such great service. Luis, our server was very informed on how the food was prepared. He very appropriately presented our wine. He detailed the desserts leaving no questions for us to ask about anything. The environment can be considered romantic with its soft lighting, cloth napkins and full bowled wine glasses and candle lighting at every table to boot. We had the dynamite shrimp as an appetizer, asparagus and Haddiek Street noodles as the main entry. We did have the pork egg rolls as a side but they did not stand up well next to the entree, veggies or the appetizer. The mini desserts were great and the good fortune is just awesome and delightful. We also had the strawberry coconut cream cake. Of the two the blueberry mixed with lemon grass that made the good fortune dessert was by far the best. I look forward to going here again. All of this for two was only $70.00.Actually, 69 and some change. Not bad at all, for the quality of food, service, wine and ambience.
