We love P. Terry's. The burgers are simple and classic. The ingredients are fresh and local. This means we can eat a burger and not feel like crap afterwards. The French fries are always hit or miss based on the cook, time of day, etc. they can be a bit softer, or rock hard, or anywhere in between. It's definitely their most inconsistent cook experience. The milkshakes are a treat every now and again and they're always perfect and classically simple. All in all, there's really nothing bad to say. Small location next to Jimmy Johns. The staff is friendly, but not many options to sit inside if you wanted to. Luckily, I work within walking distance and was able to take my food back to work. The staff is very accommodating to gluten free or low carb options with their burgers. If you aren't low carb, I suggest their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They are delicious! I had high expectations after having heard the high praises of this establishment. I didn't expect it to be a fast food joint. The line wasn't long, but the wait was a bit longer than expected. It's very slow compared to other P Terry's locations that get a lot more traffic and the food quality is inconsistent. Pretty alright fast food. They have actual fresh squeezed orange juice, so that earns them a star. But PLEASE for the love of God, do something about the incredibly loud beeping on the fryer machines and the less loud but still annoying beeps on the registers. It's very stressful, enough that I wait outside for my food. Just have someone replace the beepers with something calmer and not a high pitched single tone beep. Scourge of this earth beepers are. It is not difficult to swap them out. Pressure the manufacturers to make a less annoying signal. It does NOT have to be a loud annoying beep for employees to hear it. read more

I first tried P. Terry's a while ago and really liked them. It's basically the Texas equivalent of an In n Out burger, except they offer more choices including their oatmeal chocolate chip cookie made with Mexican vanilla. Seriously, if you go for nothing else go for those. They are the size of a fist, a dollar each, and everyone I've ever brought one to loves them. Secondly, they have a veggie burger that ROCKS! I gave them 5 stars because it isn't easy to create a veggie burger that satisfies the way a beef one does, but they absolutely nail theirs in terms of flavor and texture. I'm not a vegetarian, but they make the patties fresh every morning and they are delicious. I know there are black beans in the patties but can't tell what else. Personally, I hate mushrooms and I believe they use them, but I couldn't taste strong mushroom flavor so I loved it. They cook them perfectly too, getting the crisp exterior while keeping the insides soft without being crumbly and falling apart after each bite. So good! This location itself is pretty cool being downtown just off congress. It's very tiny (they only have about 8-10 window seats), but the views while you sit are fun because you can watch the people and cars go by. read more

WOW, I was so impressed with how fast & efficient everything was moving the first week of business at the newest P. Terry's in town. Located in the heart of Downtown (on 6th & Congress), this Austin burger chain really knew how to kick-off the opening with a bang! From the second you approach the space, you recognize the brand and the interior matches their casual but fresh persona. With light colors, minimal decor but comforting atmosphere, P. Terry's always delivers. The employees were friendly, fast & efficient from the ordering process to picking up the food at the end of the line. Burger was delicious & made to order with just the right amount of 'special sauce', lettuce and pickles. Fries here aren't my favorite (I'm a sucker for Whataburger fries... I'm sorry) but these were tasty. Milkshakes are pretty great but definitely gluttonous. If you're craving something sweet and not in a milkshake mood, take a chance on the banana bread or the chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. Cheapest place for lunch downtown. It has a different feel than the other p terry because of space restraints but I could care less when my goal is grab and go for lunch. We saw good reviews and decided to venture in to P. Terry's. We arrived toward the end of the lunch crowd. Atmosphere If you value valets, host/hostess, seats, silverware, glasses, etc... - this may not be your place. You walk in and you are immediately experience what it is like to be in a crowded elevator. There will probably be a line of people waiting to give their order, a group of people waiting for their order, and people facing the wall devouring their food. Food We kept it simple and ordered a cheeseburger. The food took me back to another time and reminded me of my childhood. The burger had character, seasoning just right, cooked well done, ingredients seemed fresh. The cheese was soft melted but not spilling all over my sandwich. I believe their advertising that they ground their own meat. This place is very busy but it was a great adventure and I will probably be there next year when I return to Austin. read more

I was in Austin for a long weekend to attend a wedding and the sit down, reservation options made more sense for our large groups. Luckily with memories of P Terry's fabulous burgers swirling around in my head our group was headed back from a night out and craving late night eats I remembered there was a restaurant around the corner from our stay. The 5th star may be due to the time of night we enjoyed this meal but I have faith upon a visit during "decent" hours my review will remain the same. Stopped by on my lunch to get a chicken sandwich. I could only get the sandwich even though the lady asked me if I wanted a combo multiple times which is fine, but little did she know the sandwich was all I could afford. At the end I asked if I could pay part in cash which was a dollar, because I only had about $4 in my bank account (I live paycheck to paycheck) and so with the dollar in cash I could afford it. She said yes and then asked me to insert my card, I've worked with many POS systems (and with fast food) so I know you need to apply the cash first. My total was 4.82 and it still said that on the pin pad but she kept insisting that I insert my card. I told her that I just gave her the dollar to pay for part of it and she apparently knew this yet kept telling me to put my card in while holding my dollar. I said I need to use that dollar I literally can't afford it with just my card and she got kinda annoyed and told me to press the x on the pin pad and finally fixed the transaction. This was very disappointing though. Just because I was dressed in my work clothes doesn't mean you can try to take my dollar as a tip when I made it clear I was paying with it. And in this case, I couldn't afford to eat without it. I could have just gone somewhere else or bought a different thing off the menu that was cheaper if I knew it would be that much of an issue. This is the same burger I fell in love with on Lamar. PTerrys continues to amaze me with its consistency everytime I go. There is probably crack cocaine in the burgers because there is no way id be addicted to having a piece of meat between two buns. The burger is so delcious and I love how the sauce drips from between the buns right into my mouth. The ingredients are pri fresh and the right proportions. I suggest not driving because it doesn't have a drive through. Also there is very limited seating inside. So if you're not employed downtown good luck finding a place to eat. I got the chocolate shake here last time and it was very good but because I forgot my lactose pills I had to call in sick to work and needed to buy a new toilet. For the rest of you not suffering from lactose intolerance I highly recommend any of the shakes they r delicious. read more

For being midnight the customer service was great. Of course since it's in 6th st there was a fair share of "happy people" but the staff handled them all with courtesy and did not get overwhelmed or rude. The food was quick and hot off the grill so that was great. We got a shake and it had lots of strawberry flavor. It's small so there's not a lot of room to sit but you can always take to go and eat right on 6th street. There are a lot of homeless inside the restaurant so they also took up some seats. Downside there was only one working bathroom for guys and girls at the time of our visit. When intoxicated girls go in 3 at a time it's not ideal. I'm sure during the day it's a great place to eat but even at night they were quick and friendly but I would suggest taking to go. read more

We arrived in Austin on a Sunday night. The place was packed. We searched for a restaurant but they were all booked or had a long wait. We were tired so we opted P. Terry's as to was right next to our hotel. The business was brisk, and the food smelled amazing, the menu stated that everything is brought in fresh daily, and never frozen. They make their own Pattie's, and sides from scratch, even fresh squeezed lemonade. They even had a veggie burger! We ordered two burgers and one fry. The price was barely over $10. We stayed and ate. Clearly the place is widely popular. I will tell you the food far exceeded our expectations. Neither of us could stop talking about how fresh it was, so on our departure day, we found another location that was the last one before leaving town. We couldn't resist so we stopped. The staff answered all of my questions with enthusiasm. They clearly loved working for this company. There are currently 27 locations, all owned by a single franchiser who just happens to be the founder. They are coming soon to San Antonio. If you haven't been, you are really missing out on a treat! If they want to expand to Phoenix Az, my wife and I want to be the first in line! read more

I just arrived in Austin last night and this place was referred by the uber driver. He said it's the "In N Out" of Austin. Ill say the Idea is there and pretty similar. It was open till about 3am and we went after the bars were closed. The workers are miserable and hate there jobs. Specially at that time. Spouse and I were doing the tourist thing and P Terry's came highly recommended. Maybe it was just this location, but we weren't terrible impressed. To begin with, Spouse's order was wrong (he requested no cheese). He was hungry enough that he dealt with it, but it was still irritating. He's not generally a fan of cheese-on-burgers, but especially not American cheese. I realize it's a chain, so asking them to do anything different is unlikely, but having other cheese options, or at very least *real* cheese, would be nice. I ordered a veggie burger, which was fine, but nothing to write home about. I also ordered a shake, again on recommendation of my friend, and found that it basically tasted like a chocolate frosty, except a little less thick. I'd go again if someone else insisted on it, but I'll find other options if it's just me. read more
