Black Angus beef burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun
    Fellman B.

My friend and I arrived at AMC Tech Ridge for a screening quite early, so we decided to walk to P. Terry's for a quick dinner before the movie. Because we were on foot and not in a car, we simply walked up to the counter and ordered from the friendly server. P. Terry's is not fancy but is just what one would want in a burger stand. I ordered a basic hamburger, which happens to be high-quality Black Angus. I requested no bun, and they offered to wrap the burger in lettuce. That was a nice touch. It was a huge leaf, perfect for wrapping around the burger. The tomato slices, pickles and onions were the perfect accompaniment....and at $3.10, it's quite a deal! It kept me full during the movie and eliminated my desire for popcorn. The server gave us water, which kept us cool and hydrated on the walk back to the theatre.

No seating here! I made the mistake of asking some friends to meet up... We ended up eating in the car. It's been a while since I've been to a P. Terry's, but this one didn't live up to the memory. The fries came out rather soggy, much like smaller In-And-Out fries. I recall the biggest differentiator of P. Terry's was fresher fries, but these tasted like they had been left out for a bit. The burger was still great and reasonably priced. Service was crazy fast (less than 5 minutes) with a walk up order instead of drive thru.

Limited: Hatch Chili Burger with GRILLED HATCH CHILES, GRILLED ONIONS AND SWISS CHEESE! So good!

Updating my review to include the seasonal hatch chili burger. That burger is the bomb and I wish it was available for a longer time! Had the regular burgers a few times since my last review and they remain mostly uninspiring. Fries a hit or miss. When the burgers and fries are good, they are really good! But the consistency just isn't there. Service has been friendly everytime.

Soooo dropping my pets off at Banfield, my daughter pointed out that we haven't had P.Terrys in a long time (especially since the zombie apocalypse aka Covid Lockdown) the line was super long; but super FAST! The lady that took our order (Dametrus) was SUPER NICE!! I was like "Damn she was nice as hell to be working in this hot ass sun! Lol" and my 13 year old daughter was like "YASSSS! Her voice was just so pleasant and sweet!" Aside from having bomb ass food (minus them NOT adding my grilled onions and jalapeños, that I paid for) everything else was PERFECT. The guys delivering the food were super nice/kind as well. Excellent customer service!! Would definitely recommend this location

I ordered the double cheeseburger, chocolate shake, and oatmeal cookie. The burger was delicious! It was prepared timely and the cheese was melting just when as I received it. The chocolate shake had the perfect consistency of thickness--mmm!! The oatmeal cookie was why I gave four stars. It did not have the oatmeal flavor nor the texture of an oatmeal cookie.

Great tasting burger and lemonade would definitely recommend. The wait was not bad either compared to some of the comments below.

The costilla ones weren't bad either but the pastor was the clear winner between the two. I ordered the carnitas tonkotsu ramen and had no complaints here. Carnitas were tender, ramen was the perfect texture, and broth was delicious. S/O had the chilaquiles-men with green sauce and he loved it. Note: this is a DRY noodle dish AKA no broth. Can't wait to visit again when they reopen their restaurant!

Somehow, against all odds, Ramen Del Barrio still exceeds its reputation. There's only one vegan ramen option but it's all you need, both in terms of portion size and flavor. I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. It's not overwhelmingly hot, but definitely leaves your lips tingling. I'm glad I finally got there before they close up shop at their current location in Hana World Market on December 21st, and even happier to know that their new brick-and-mortar isn't too far behind. I'll be there as soon as the doors open!

They were perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of vinegar and cooked to that ideal tender texture without being mushy. The fried chicken and catfish were outstanding. Both were well seasoned, incredibly crispy, and tasted like they were fried in fresh grease. Every bite was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The baked macaroni and cheese was good, but it leaned a little more toward a Velveeta-style cheese sauce than my personal preference. Still a solid 9/10. I also ordered the Peach Passion Fruit Hennessy margarita, and it was superb. Smooth, flavorful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the prices were very reasonable, and the portions were generous. If you're looking for authentic soul food in Austin, The Rolling Rooster is absolutely worth the stop. I'll definitely be back.

I don't eat a lot of fried food, but sometimes you just go with the flow. Every year, we go through the same routine. Two weeks out: "Have you picked a restaurant yet?" Not yet. One week out: "Any ideas?" Still no. Then, three days before Father's Day...bam...the decision is made! Luckily, this last-minute pick didn't require reservations. This year's winner? Drum roll...The Rolling Rooster. Honestly, you've got to love the name. The Rolling Rooster is located in a strip center at the corner of Mopac and Wells Branch Parkway. It looks small from the outside, but once you step in, it opens up into a surprisingly spacious dining area. It's not fancy, but it has a warm, homey feel. We were greeted right away by Edna, who handled both hosting and serving. She was friendly and welcoming, embodying that classic Texas Southern hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy, with a smooth R&B playlist spinning in the background. As you'd expect, the restaurant focuses on Southern comfort food...think fried chicken, wings, and waffles. The standout for me was the catfish: crispy, flavorful, and coated with a slightly heavier cornmeal crust than usual, which added a nice texture. We both went with the 2 | 2 combo...two meats and two sides...choosing fried chicken wings and catfish. For sides, we had yams, fries, Mac n cheese and my favorite...grits. The food tasted like something straight out of a family kitchen...comforting, hearty, and satisfying. Portions were generous and reasonably priced, so much so that we didn't have room for dessert on the spot. We did, however, grab some banana pudding to go and I'm glad we did. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The hubby and I got to enjoy some quality time while he enjoyed one of his favorite meals...a win-win! Happy Father's Day!

This place is showing its age with grungy stained floors, and dirty dusty overhead AC ducts. In other words, this place could use a top to bottom cleaning. With that said, I do appreciate the fact that all the goods are laid out behind glass so you know what you're getting in that tortilla. You and a staff member walk the length of the ingredients until your creation is completely filled with the goods, and then you'll face the tip screen when you run your card. You can also get some add-ons like cookies, chips, and drinks. They do have a bathroom, but you'll have to punch in the code to use it. Ten informative photos included for this location. 31/2*

There are pre-made menu options (Claims to Fame) but you can also build your own burrito, bowl, salad, or nachos. I LOVE that they offer cauliflower rice (no extra charge), diced jalapeños, tortilla strips, and a ton of sauce options. When I first ordered my salad, they were out of cauliflower rice and put my food in a warming area until it was ready which I really appreciated! There is a nutrition calculator available on their website which is perfect if you track macros, count calories, or are following a specific nutrition plan. You can join their rewards program and receive free chips and dip for signing up. From there, you earn points with your purchases that you can redeem for different points. Overall, I love stopping by Freebirds for a quick lunch or dinner option when I'm craving a burrito bowl and this location met my expectations. I'll be back in the future!
