We came here last night and made a reservation for the bar. My brother was visiting from out of town and really wanted to catch the national championship football game so he tried calling all day to make sure our reservation was for a booth facing the tv. Unfortunately we got no answer, and when we got there, we were stuck with a high top. Overall service wasn't the best. Food was solid though in my opinion, the price is steep for what you get. Across the table we got the fresh catch umami style sea bass with the house salad and miso butter broccolini, Baja fish taco, hot fish taco, and fries. Everyone was satisfied with what they got and might get takeout or something from here but wouldn't count on good service or go with a larger group. read more

Full day of honey-do's for Barbro, Chloe and I last Saturday. On her last errand with our niece Chloe, she called and asked what I want for dinner. I actually have a condition where I don't get hungry, nor do I crave food. So when asked, "what do you want", i come up blank every time. Usually I answer with "something fresh and healthy". She and Chloe came home with Pacific Catch from Mountain View. Barbro and Chloe had the lobster roll with French frys. Not cheap at $19 per sando, but then again, it is fresh lobster so can't expect $4.99 either. What was interesting is that they charged $3 extra for French Frys. That seemed a bit of a sting. That being said, hard to complain during COVID when we can still order up a fresh lobster roll. Barbro and I had recently eaten at Old Port Lobster Shack in Ladera a few weeks ago (see my prior yelp review). Pacific Catch blows that lobster sando way. So I'm not going to worry about $3 during Covid French frys. Pacific Catch's lobster roll came on a fresh French roll, baked to perfection (crispy, toasted, yet soft and warm at the same time). On top of this roll was a bed of fresh lettuce. On to of this was the lobster salad complete with CHUNKS of lobster and lobster salad. Pacific Catch in Mountain View was not light on the portions ("which is nice"). As I said, I do not crave, nor do I get hungry. I'm kind of like the guy in the Twix commercial who, if I get low enough on energy, gets cranky like Betty White until he eats the candy bar and turns back into his own personality. So when she came home with Pacific Catch I was in good spirits. Fresh and Healthy works. I may not get hungry but I do enjoy to eat Ha Ha. Barbro brought me the pokey bowl and a lobster roll without french frys. As described above, the lobster roll was a picture perfect dish and the poke was too! The pokey was fresh, deep in color and had a nice spicy kick. We all shared this. Additionally, we shared the Guacamole and chips and the Cabo Calimari. All were super fresh, and tasty. Fresh fish is tricky. Hard to get good fresh well prepared fish on a regular basis. Pacific Catch in Mountain View is a very solid option. Easily recommended. read more

Overall, a solid 4 stars, pleasantly surprised. Started with the guaca-poke appetizer with tortilla chickens and poke over guac. Pretty good. Then, each of us ordered a different bowl - Double Rainbow Sushi bowl, Grilled Salmon bowl, regular size, and Latin Chimichurri Grilled Kampachi bowl, regular size. Server said the difference between regular and small sizes was the amount of base (salad/rice or quinoa). Next time, I'd probably go with the small. All were very good and fresh. The salmon was a somewhat small piece. I will return and hope for consistency. Note that the booth we were sitting in had some shredded fabric on the seat. Restaurant should attend to this. 3.5 stars rounding up because I want to come back and try out happy hour. Got delivery and it was decent. Got the mixed plate with sweet potatoe fries. It came with fried fish, shrimp and calamari. The calamari was super goooood! The shrimp was decent. The fish was a bit of a let down, wasnt crispy but the fish inside was moist. May have been a steaming in the box problem. It's another great night at the bar at Pacific catch in Mountain View. My friend Lee has shown up and once again we find ourselves in the skillful, full-attention hands of Tre. He is the reason that I sit at the bar on every visit here. Of course, I wouldn't think of arriving less than 30 minutes before happy hour is over at 6 pm. On a good night, it's best to arrive by 5 PM to enjoy so many excellent happy hour items . Pacific Catch offers one of the best happy hours that I know of on the SF peninsula, whether it's here, or at the Stanford shopping center, or in San Mateo . That said, it is actually Tre who keeps me coming back to the Mountain View PC. I feel welcomed like an old friend, cared for like a member of the family, and fed like a queen. That is how good the Pacific Catch happy hour is in Mountain View. Btw, it runs from 3 to 6 PM. read more

I came here on a Sunday evening around 7 pm. There was plenty of seating available and I was seated in the heated patio which was super warm and toasty on a chilly November night. The person who seated us was great and the server came and brought us drinks and took our order pretty swiftly. After this though, service went downhill. We ordered an appetizer and assumed it would come before our meals. We waited and waited and the waiter never came by. We finally flagged him down and asked if the appetizer was coming and he said yes. It didn't come. Someone else finally brought our entrees out and after those came out we were given the appetizer. This wasn't the worst thing that could've happened but it just wasn't a positive experience especially with the dismissive communication from our server. We ate our food which was good and our water was constantly filled but the waiter never asked how the food was or if we needed anything. Overall I'd deduce 1.5 stars for the service, but rounded up to 4 stars for the sake of this review. read more

My 3 stars are almost entirely due to good service. The server not only knew the menu, but had ready recommendations, and was hospitable. The atmosphere was fine, pop'ish music and moderately elevated finishes. Definitely a chain feel. I had the clam chowder, it was fine, not a wow. Also ordered the Serrano Ahi Ceviche. When it showed up, it looked more like a poke with a very heavy mayo based sauce. That might've been ok, but the mayo appeared to be hiding 2+ day old fish. It hadn't turned yet, but it wasn't fresh either. The server absolutely did the right thing and removed it, and went the next important step and offered me something else. I went salad, and had a decent house / edamame salad. Overall, it was ok. Not likely to visit again. read more

Tried the Clam Chowder, Grilled Salmon, and Guac and chips. Clam chowder is more on the lighter thinner type like a broth rather than thick creamy base. It has clam in shell still instead of clams mixed in the soup so does not have strong clam flavor. I could taste the bacon though. If you don't like the stronger clammy clam chowder this would be a good one to have. The soup has a light cream base without the usual potato chunks. It came with 3 toasted little baguette bread slices instead of crackers which is a good twist to the dish. I chose salad and corn (elote) as sides for the grilled salmon and pineapple salsa as topping. The "elote" was good; sweet creamy corn, a hint of spicy kick with some tarty sweet pineapple like flavor. The guacamole was too lemony for my taste. It's freshly made. Came with the thick style tortilla chips. Food came out quickly. Staff was nice. Nice clean environment. Clean restrooms. Overall good but not spectacular or memorable. Ordered delivery through DoorDash. I was very pleased with their packaging -- all compostable and recyclable materials were used. Our food was also packed into a big brown paper bag with multiple staples and stickers so it was very protected from outside tampering. We got the lobster roll + fries and the poke chirashi bowl. Both items traveled well via delivery (from San Antonio center to downtown Mountain View area). The LOBSTER ROLL meat was fresh, sweet, and lightly dressed with mayo. FRIES were crispy and fluffy. COLE SLAW was also fresh and crispy, but wouldn't have minded a bit more. Wish we didn't have to pay extra for the fries. POKE CHIRASHI BOWL had the freshest ahi and salmon pieces. The serrano ahi had a mayo based dressing topped with serrano chilis and chili powder. Salmon avocado seemed to be dressed with lime and a bit of extra salt -- tasted refreshing but a tiny bit too salty. Original ahi was my favorite with its soy sauce marinade and buttery texture. I asked for half sushi rice half greens but seemed like I got 1/4 greens. I thought this was a huge portion for the price. Overall this is a solid option for a fresh seafood meal! Looks like it was my servers first day but he was trying to help as much as he can. as we sat we ordered kids salmon and cocktail. It took 26 seconds to prepare salmon. And 3-4 min(which is normal) for drink. Which has no straw which makes impossible drink blended cocktails( pino colada) Salmon was cooked in the morning and been microwaved before serving. I really do not like seafood. My honey loves it. So who would have thought that a "west coast fish house" would have something for both of us? We usually go to the Palo Alto/Mountain View location after dance class in Los Altos, or to the Santa Clara (Augustine) location if we're going from home, and the experience is pretty similar. I can't speak to the fish itself, although she keeps coming back for it so I guess it's good. I'll address the non-fish options in my reviews. First of all, the cocktails are good, and about half of them change with the seasons so you can always have something different. The Dulce de Leche spring rolls are a great choice if somehow you save room for dessert. Out of ten visits between the locations, I only did so once. Might have to work on that. My regular readers know I'm a burger guy, and I finally tried the burger last week. It was pretty good. It's a wagyu patty with white cheddar, pickled onions, citrus aioli, and a black sesame seed bun. It's served with slaw, and you can add fries or a salad for $3 extra (I did the salad, pictured on the right in the pictures). It's not a destination burger for me, but it's light and flavorful compared to some, and I'd definitely have it again. Might try the fries next time. SUMMARY - Very filling and delicious salad bowls BOWLS - Proteins and bases are subbable at no extra cost! They have so many options. Westcoast style - Grilled salmon for protein, 1/2 mixed organic greens + 1/2 brown rice-quinoa blend for base ($16 small, $19 regular) -- Delicious and highly filling. Guac & Chips ($10) - 4/5 -- I considered the portion size a bit small at first. The chips however was very crispy and uniformly thin, while the guac contained some whole chunks of avocado and gave off the impression of being quite fresh. Guaca-Poke ($15) -- Did not try any myself but same portion size as Guac & Chips except with the guac replaced with poke Exemplary service -- We (a party of 11!) came from a windy and wet morning of hiking. The server was highly knowledgeable and helped us find the perfect indoor seats! When I requested lukewarm water, they provided it in a charming tea set. They also handled our party's subbing flawlessly. One friend requested subbing Fish & Chips fries for salmon chowder, and they only charged $3 extra for it, which was super generous. Serving was very fast. One small mistake was giving my friend a small instead of regular bowl (no one at our table requested small). Bathrooms -- I like how they have a sink inside the bathroom as well as two sinks outside!! This is a very nice touch. This way, individuals could wash their hands without heading into the bathroom. Value -- Generous portion sizes, the "bowls" are much larger and more filling than we expected. Many of us even had to take half our bowls for takeout. read more

The outdoor patio has plenty of seats and I appreciated the patio heaters during the chilly evening. ----- Mexican Grill | Seared Guajillo Shrimp Bowl & Greens: citrus-guajillo adobo sauce, "elote" corn, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, cotija cheese, cilantro, tortilla chips, tomatillo dressing, lime crema (small is $16 and regular is $19). I picked the small size and the bowl was extremely filling, especially with all the rice underneath despite picking the base of just 1/2 brown rice with 1/2 mixed organic greens. I liked the topping variety and everything was flavorful. The shrimp was marinated well and juicy. ----- Ceviche Tacos: fresh jicama shells, shredded lettuce, choice of ceviche (1 for $5, 3 for $14). I have a saying that if the hamburger cannot be made correctly, the restaurant cannot do anything else correct! And this was the case in our dining experience on my wife's birthday. In my opinion, the food is mediocre, coconut shrimp really too heavy on the breading, the ribs are over sauced, the calamari was average, the beef in the Korean plate was undercooked rubbery/fleshy, we asked for it to be cooked well done it came back rare, we ordered a simple hamburger with no cheese it came back with cheese, and then when we asked to correct, they scraped the cheese off the hamburger but there was still cheese remaining so we had to request it to be remade. By this time we have all eaten. Maybe the Cupertino location is better, maybe we'll try that place but we will not return to the Mountain View Restaurant unfortunately. read more

So disappointed in my visit here today. It was my bday lunch and some of my coworkers have not tried this place ever. The host was rude, and on the phone when I told him we had reservations. He then asked the guy behind us if he was doordash really rudely, and he wasn't, he was a paying customer... I love their tacos, especially the steak one. I took a bite, and it was ALL fat, and I couldn't spit it out in front of my peers...I then open the tortilla and there was no ounce of steak, it was just pure fat and gristle. How disgusting. Surely the cook saw this when cooking? Well our waitress did not come around for a good while, more than 5 minutes, and when she finally did I showed her and she just stared at me blankly, like, soooooooooo.....?! When she finally brought me a new one, it was covered in loads of cilantro, not exaggerating, 5 spoonfuls, and that was the ONE thing I said about the tacos was NO CILANTRO. My coworker's salmon sandwich was also small with one sliver of avocado. Unacceptable food and service here, so bummed since I really liked this place. read more

Pacific Catch is an upsacle chain, scattered around the bay area in nicer malls and retail areas.  The Village at San Antonio was rebuilt a few years back with a couple pricy restaurants, so this location fits right in. They have a great outdoor dining area on the sidewalk that's closed off with sturdy partitions and planters.  The large wrap around patio is connected to the bar area and has tv's, heatlamps, and adequate spacing between tables.  With cloth napkins and attentive service, it's a fun place to meet up with friends or have a leisurely lunch. That is, if you don't really care about the quality of the food.  The fish here was very disappointing.  We got the poki triple, which is three scoops of different fish.  I ordered it mainly for the the kanpachi and the serrano ahi, because I like amberjack and spicy tuna, and I'd would tolerate a third scoop of ordinary ahi poke .  Turns out the straight ahi was the only thing that was edible.  I think the serrano ahi must have been yesterdays ahi.  The spicy sauce was fine, but the fish was tastless.  Same with the kanpachi.  I couldn't even finish it, and had to get my nourishment from the veggies in the bowl. The drinks were good (who can mess up iced tea).  And the company was good.  We had a nice time al fresco, and to be fair, they had a nice looking cocktail menu.  They take large parties, and the service was good.  But don't come expecting to actually enjoy your food--this is a more of a social spot. read more

My oldest and best friends have lived in CA for 20 years, in Mountain View for the last ten, and a short walk from Pacific Catch for the last few. Consequently, whenever I visit (Typically in September or October), we dine at Pacific Catch at least once... and it's always great. We invariably eat outside, but the patio heaters make it pleasant to do so. We get attentive service, great food and excellent cocktails. Cannot wait to visit again this coming October. read more

We visited this location on a Monday night to have a late Father's day dinner. We were able to make a reservation online and upon arrival we were given the choice of sitting inside or in the outdoor area. We opted for indoors since we had a little one with us. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I could tell the place was short staffed on this day, but the staff did not miss a beat with service. We understand there is an overall shortage of hospitality workers in general, so we expected to wait a bit longer for things, but it was not too bad. We ended up ordering a couple of their fish dishes with one being cooked in Hawaiian sea salt and butter and the other in their chimichurri mix. Both were cooked and seasoned well. We also ordered a Big Kahuna plate, which came with their signature poke and chicken katsu over a bed of rice and sides were slaw with edamame and mushrooms. Food was fresh and satisfied our tastebuds. Overall, our experience was pleasant with very kind service and good food. [SCORE & ORDER] OVERALL: 3.75/5 * Sushi Tacos $13 (4/5) -I got one of each of the tacos: Seared Ahi, Hawaii Yellowtail, and Spicy Salmon. -Seared Ahi: The seared ahi was really delicious especially the bean sprouts (I think) that was on top. The ahi was super soft, I did share this one and I think it was gone in two bites haha. (Also not sure if it was worth the price but it was super good). -Hawaii Yellowtail: The yellowtail was super good as well and it was a little spicy but it was also soft (the fish). This was one of my least favorite ones so I don't really recommend this one. The avocado is also and always will be a good addition for any of the sushi tacos. -Spicy Salmon: WOW This one was by far my favorite. It is an interesting concept of having sushi in a taco form and this one was my favorite not because I am biased in liking salmon, but I also really enjoy the spicy mayo sauce that comes with it. Also the crispy onion that was on top gave it a nice crunch. * Classic Sea Bass Ceviche $13 (3.5/5) -The sea bass ceviche was delicious, but the price for the amount is not the greatest (not reflected upon the score). This dish is also sort of spicy because of the red chilis. The fish was also super delicious with the combination of cucumber that has that coolness and the softness of the fish. I also did not enjoy it (and I believe it was a mistake) the chips because some of them were stale. * California Roll $10 (3/5) -The California roll is just a California roll, nothing special to say. Fluffy buns and a nice slap of ahi in between w ginger and greens. Lobster roll was okay. Always have to try anywhere's lobster roll but I probably wouldn't order this one again. Huge piece of lettuce between the thick bread and thin sprinkle of lobster. Otherwise, the chirashi bowl wasn't bad. More like a poke bowl though.
