We came here to celebrate my mother's birthday and when we asked the server about the birthday special deal, he was incredibly pissed off and just stared at us. I've always loved Pacific Catch and the variety of food they offer. I had a pleasant experience at this location a few months ago and decided I was in the mood for some fish and chips again. Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad experience this time around. I ordered a side salad ($10) and the kid's fish and chips($9) to go (I wasn't too hungry but needed to eat lunch). It came out to be a little over $20, which I thought was pretty pricey, especially for the items I ordered. I got my receipt and saw that that it wasn't labeled as a side salad, so maybe the lady who took my order accidentally placed an order for a full size salad. When I picked up my order, I noticed how strong the fish smelled, and not in a pleasant way. It made my entire car smell fishy and it lingered for 3 days, even though I aired it out and drove with the windows down. The fries ended up being very soggy but the fish stayed relatively crispy, but was hard to eat when the smell was so strong. I didn't enjoy it and wasn't able to finish it even though the portions were small to begin with. The salad was an even worse let down: the portion was tiny and had 5 ingredients- tomatoes, lettuce, edamame, mushrooms, and a little bit of sprouts sprinkled in. The dressing they put on the side was very sour, so I ended up using my own. There was ample parking on a weekend during lunch at 12:30. I had the Korean steak and glazed shrimp and it came with kimchi fried rice additional kimchi and some carrots. The shrimp was way too sweet. The glaze was too sweet, but the shrimp was good. The meat was tender however, it also had that sweet glaze. The carrots had way too much ginger in there so I didn't really care for it. The kimchi fried rice needed an egg in there and more kimchi so improvements could've been made. I really loved the space of the restaurant. Very open with simple aesthetics. A lot of light comes in from the outside ana you can see the beautiful colors of the sky changing when the sun is going down. The guaca-poke was good. I liked the thick tortilla chips. So I ordered more chips because the amount given wasn't enough for us, and also for this reason: The waitress came with the platter. She tries to move the hand sanitizer bottle over using the plate. But not just "the plate"... WITH THE CHIPS ON THE PLATE. Sounds crazy right? So there was a bunch of chips we tossed because she's trying to use the chips as a tool to move the bottle over when there's enough space to place the dish on the table. I'm watching her scrape the side of the chips repeatedly on the bottle to move it. Finally she just puts it down right next to the bottle. So unnecessary. Calamari I felt could have been a little crunchier. The miso side salad was a big portion. I liked the big slices of mushroom and there were plenty of tomatoes. I thought the dressing lacked flavor. Definitely didn't taste like miso. Loco moco patty was great. The mushrooms complimented the flavors well. The rice portion was outta control. Lol. Way too much rice to balance everything else on the plate. The little cucumbers that came with the loco moco and ribs plate was good. The brussel sprouts were arguably the best thing on our table. Very l, very well made. The ribs- ugh. One was tender and the rest were TOUGH. Flavor wise, not for me. My daughter liked it though. Lobster roll was skinny. The actual lobster salad part has nice big chunks of lobster, but again lacked flavor. There was a slight hint of the tarragon and dill, but it didn't do anything for me. The sweetness of the Hawaiian roll also takes away from letting the lobster shine. The daily special fresh caught fish was not fresh. I feel like it was cooked before order and preheat to cause it super dry and flavorless. Another Pacific Catch comes to the Bay Area! I think this is the 11th now in the Bay. And the newer ones, like this latest addition in Santa Clara have a cool modern interior with the same solid food quality. The Bowls and Greens are normally my pick at Pacific Catch, but I thought I'd switch things up a bit and give their tacos a go this time. Turns out, they're hearty and tasty. I got to try the Traditional Baja, Guajillo Shrimp, Hot Fish and Grilled Fish (sea bass) tacos. My first choice would be the Traditional Baja, which came with a massive chunk of moist fish. A close second would be the Guajillo Shrimp, followed by the Hot Fish with an Asian flair. I'd pass on the Grilled Fish taco. The tortillas held up well. They were nicely pliable yet held up well with the generously packed ingredients without any breakage. Super nice interior with a bright, spacious and modern feel. Staff was very pleasant. I was in the area looking for a place to eat dinner tonight. The plaza was super crowded but thankfully after driving around for a while, I was able to find someone who was leaving and take their parking spot. Lots of the places in this plaza were really crowded for dinner, probably especially since it's Valentine's Day, but Pacific Catch had a few open tables outdoors, which we were happy to take! We ordered two dishes to share: The first plate we ordered was the Pacific Rockfish ($27) which was pan-seared and came with two sides. For the sides, we chose Mexican Elote Corn and fries which went really well together! The flavors of the elote corn were incredible. I'd highly recommend choosing the elote corn as a side! The fish was also quite big yet light and easy to finish! We also ordered the Korean Surf and Turf ($35) which was grilled skirt steak, glazed prawns, kimchi fried rice with a sunny side egg, spicy cucumber banchan, glazed shiitake mushrooms, edamame, kimchi, red ginger, and pickled carrots. The steak was cooked perfectly and went amazingly well with the kimchi fried rice, egg, and kimchi! Such a delicious combination! The glazed prawns also really stood out and were extremely flavorful thanks to the sauce. Even sharing these among two people, we ended up with some leftovers which we are excited to eat tomorrow. The food here was outstanding and our waitress was very friendly! I'm glad we were able to eat here tonight and would definitely return to try more food. In general, we are fans of Pacific Catch. I love the spacious, clean modern decor. We try to make it for happy hour which is from 3-6PM. I always get the guaca-poke which is a fantastic blend of fresh poke, guacamole and fresh chips. I also generally get the California Roll since I like that they actually use real crab. I will say though, none of the happy hour wines are any good- I've tried both the reds and whites on the HH menu and find the reds a bit harsh on the palate. All their Fresh fish plates are tasty- you pick a fish, a style of dressing, and two sides. The plates are good portions, fresh fish, flavorful sides. I don't generally write reviews for chains, but wanted to mention that they started to have Ramen noodles on the menu this season! It's a nice addition for us, since our kids often want ramen noodles when we're not exactly in the mood. And I'd say it's fine for kids.... I have attended a few Pacific Catch Pre-Openings and hands down this was the BEST one! No logistically challenges and the service was FANTASTIC!!! We started out with Guac & Chips and the Ahi Poke. Both were fresh and well flavored. For the main course, I had the Fresh Catch Salmon with chimichurri, thai brussell, and kimichi fried rice. The salmon was fresh, I didn't care for the chimichurri sauce, the brussell sprouts were addicting, and the kimchi fried rice didn't have cabbage in it like I had expected, it was the kimchi seasoned fried rice, I wouldn't order that again. I have been to the one at Cupertino Square several times, and this branch has more seating and space both indoor and outdoor. One thing common between the two is the good lighting and ambiance. It tastes fine, more on the soup side and less heavy, which I like, but not as good as the Lobster version before. We also ordered Korean BBQ and Poke & Ceviche Trio. The Korean BBQ was good and the side of Brussel sprouts and kimchi was a nice add on. For the Trio sampler, I got Original Ahi and Kona Kanpchi Poke, plus Baja Shrimp Ceviche which was really good. Definitely recommending that Baja Shrimp. They have a nice set of kid's menu, too. I was able to get some decent options for my sons -- Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Tenders with Broccoli and Fries. Came on Mother's Day and was so delighted to try this new restaurant! The restaurant was so beautiful and they even added roses to each table for the holiday. I ordered a 3 taco combo and got to try three different types of seafood! It was so delicious and filling! One of my favorites was the fried Alaska cod. The taco had so many toppings and it was so flavorful. My favorite part was that I could substitute the sweet potato fries which I love. The black beans were also very tasty!
