Omigawd it's soooo bad! I used to think it was important to write bad reviews because at least they are accurate and people want to know but Ive changed and usually just keep my mouth shut because it feels unkind but Omigawd. 1. Building front--scary before you even walk in. we almost left then. 2. Inside--vast and cold ( i know big rooms are the style for that type of restaurant but...), dirty filthy windows 3. Lets talk about ordering sake. i eventually got my cold sake, except it wasn't cold. now mind you when i asked for sake, the server didn't even ask what kind i wanted...but i digress--save that for #4. the cold sake came room tempterature so I asked for something to chill it--you've seen those fancy sake bottles with the whole in the middle for the ice right? The server brought me a plastic tub like the kind you get yogurt in. really? yeah. really!!! with no awareness of how tacky that was. and this is supposed to be a fancy place? oh and dont ask for a glass for your beer. 4. service--doesn't get any worse. they didn't serve us tea, then only brought one cup, then we had to ask over and over and still waited 15 minutes to get one...the service--nearly nonexistent unless you hunt them down and then they act like you are weird and bothering them. when they do appear, there is no apparent familiarity with how to do it, or with the menu, or anything else. i cant put into words how baffling the whole thing was. 6. Ok, the food. we looked at the menu and seriously almost left again, we had read that this was the best chinese food like, ever, so we thought this is the place to get it but then we experienced the horrible service and looked at the menu--YIKES! but now that we're in, we had to see it through. We got some veggies and the abalone ($45!). yeah so: all dishes were drenched in luke warm horribly tasting syrupy gross sauce -- really really bad. the abalone was inedible--chewy, tasteless, drenched in sauce and tiny, the size of 2 thumbs. The graceful exit? We said my babysitter had to go home and we had them pack up the nearly untouched dishes and left a $100 on the table and went to Gold Coast. Now seriously I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant that was sooo bad especially one that was supposed to be soo good. Omigawd. read more

Dinner on Christmas. 15 minutes after seating for a server to take the order, 55 minutes after that for food to arrive, and this was after 4 different people were flagged down to ask what was going on (starting at about minute 25). The final one seemed to be the lady in charge, and after that the food did finally arrive, and it was super hot, leading to the theory that the order was just plain forgotten. Other reviews that night mention waits that were FAR longer (2.5 hours, man, I kinda feel like going up one star just for not being those people, but, no). Food was: 1. beef with potatoes, was pretty good, a fair amount of beef, tasted similar to 'black pepper beef' from other places but was a little different, maybe a little sweeter and no black beans? I liked it. 2. singapore style noodles - never had this before, was also good. thin noodles, very yellow with curry or turmeric, a lot of black or white pepper flavor, all sorts of little meats in there (shrimp, BBQ pork, normal pork, maybe chicken?), a bunch of egg. Anyway, I also liked this. 3. sauteed pork belly with dried shrimp and chives - this was um, not pork belly. Seemed like pork stomach. Perhaps a mistranslation, but there were also about 4 dishes called 'pork belly with dried shrimp' on the menu and given the service issues, who knows if we got what we ordered. The pork texture was not what I like, and the shrimp was super fishy. I didn't like this, but it was going to be an experimental dish for me anyway. But no, this is not pork belly. Anyway, it was basically good tasting, when we finally got it, and it was different enough from other places that I would look forward to going back, but man, the service is a deal-breaker. I wasn't even that hungry when we got there and I was about 2 minutes from leaving due to getting VERY HUNGRY and I still am peeved that I could have watched a movie or something with the amount of time we sat there waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Also when we arrived there was a large group, 15+ people, at a huge table in front, looking like they were waiting for their food. When we left, they were still there, still looking like they were waiting for their food. Those poor people. I wonder if they're still there. read more

Mediocre dim sum restaurant. Standard Chinese dim sum food and some a la carte dishes. Great views of the Oakland Estuary and the Marina. Really hard to find parking, especially on the weekends. Horrible customer service. If you don't speak Chinese, then it'll be a challenge to order food or get any service at all. I wish they'd hire some servers who speak just a bit of English. One of the managers just come to our table and took away the chili jar to give it to another group. It's very rude because we were still eating and using the chili. It's also quite expensive. But judging from the amount of Chinese patrons here, this place won't go out of business any time soon. read more

We came for dinner on a Sunday night, not too busy, food came quickly and good portion. The view is amazing when they opened the curtain, we get to see the huge Oakland Bay as well as the downtown lights. Price is a bit on the higher end of Chinese food but the experience is totally worth it. read more

They were saving the good tables for their returning customers. I was given an e-gift certificate for Pacific Lighthouse and placed an order to go for 6 items. When it was time to pay, the woman taking my order said I had to show the original paper certificate, even though the person I talked to on the phone that morning said I only needed to show the photo of it. Although this was annoying, since I had already ordered I agreed to pay with a credit card. She then said to come back in 25 minutes and it would be ready. When I returned, a different person was at the front and went to get my order. She came back and said there was no order for me. She confirmed my name, phone number, dishes, and double checked with the kitchen. She came back again and said there was still nothing for me. She then asked if I wanted to start over with a new order and that it would take at least 30 more minutes. I declined and said I would return with the original paper certificate some other time. Over an hour later, the first woman called me and said my order was finally ready. I explained that I had already returned and was told there was no order so I went elsewhere. She was very rude and said if I ever did come back, she would not honor my gift certificate. I feel bad that the person who gave the certificate to me wasted their money. Keep this in mind if you are considering such a purchase. I was trying to support this business by ordering more, but obviously there are communication and operational issues at this place. Service is not very good. They seem to only cater to people they know so if you don't know someone there, expect slow and not so good service. Waiter staff still needs to be better trained. food is pretty good but the menu is not very extensive. And the price is on the expensive side. Food is on par with east ocean down the road. Decor is more on the lower end except for the beautiful chandelier in the center of the room. Otherwise, tables, chairs and the furniture is not very high end, ends up making the place not as nice as the view here. You can still see tape marks on the plantar stands and the tables are just plan folding round tables. For dinner, there isn't much of a view, because they close the curtains. It is a shame as the view is relaxing and beautiful. They should have invested some money to have tinted windows. read more

Was very surprised when I got to this restaurant for dinner. It's a hidden gem. The food was quite good and reasonably priced!! Service was awesome!! Left feeling full and happy!! Would definately recommend this restaurant. It has the capacity for large dinner banquets/parties and weddings. Gotta try their dim sum. Not sure why the bad reviews. We had dim sum and dinner here separately and both experiences were good. Yes, service could be better but it's no different than any other Chinese restaurant. Food is higher caliber than other restaurants in Chinatown, and no hassle for parking. A nice view of the water and nice facilities. A welcome addition and option for a large party space. read more

Woweee okay. My family came here last week around 7pm. They've been here numerous times in the past and had great experiences. However, apparently management or something must have changed because the menu options are changed. Whatever aside, we decided to try out items on the new menu. Although I don't know what the name of most of these items are, we ordered 6 dishes. I have several complaints. 1. We redeemed a coupon for 1/2 rack of Hainan chicken. The chicken was literally freezing cold and came straight out of the fridge. I understand that some of these foods aren't meant to be eaten straight out of the oven, but the chicken was super cold throughout the entire dish. Not pleasant especially when you have seniors with sensitive teeth. 2. Literally every dish except the soup and clams in black bean sauce was super bland. The salt and pepper fish had minimal salt and pepper on it. The steamed -insert Chinese vegetable- in broth was bland. The glass noodle with vegetables in sauce platter was bland. The other two dishes that I can't even recall anymore were also hopelessly bland. I myself have a pretty plain palette so I don't even know how normal palette people cope with this. 3. As mentioned copious times in previous Yelp reviews, the servers don't seem to communicate with one another. Three servers asked us what tea we wanted one after another. Also our rice bowls were left to cool on the table for 10 mins before any of our dishes were brought out. No one likes cold steamed rice. The food was ok at best. The view is great, but this is a restaurant so I didn't come here to eat nice views. What's worst was that it took them 30 mins to get the check to me. 15 mins to get the bill, and then 15 mins for them to swipe my credit card and return the bill for me to sign. Warning: If you do not speak Cantonese, you are in for a rough time. Most of the staff does not speak English. They do not know the words for "wine list" and "check, please." You have to get the manager to translate. We were there on a Sunday early evening. The place is clean and the ambiance was excellent. However, despite big tanks of swimming seafood on prominent display, the oysters we ordered were not 100% fresh, and the noodles were ok, but not great. There were many Chinese families there obviously having a great time. If you don't speak Cantonese, go to Hong Kong Seafood on Park Street, which has no ambiance, good food, low prices and very helpful staff. read more

Fresh, piping hot, soft, flavorful, and delicious. While you wait, check off the items you like on the paper so by the time you get seated, could hand it in. If you're looking for a safe option, this is a place for you. They carry pretty good selection of decent quality dimsums. I strongly recommend their Pork and Shrimp Shu Mai. I gave them 3 stars because of their Xiao Long Bao. The flavor wasn't bad but the skin could be thinner and softer. read more

We arrived about 12:30 on Saturday with no reservations, we were seated in one of the few remaining tables. Staff was friendly and helpful. On the table was a card for ordering Dim Sum and staff walked around with small trays with various items and just one or two carts wandering thru the place. Never needed to ask for more water or tea, it was always refilled! We ordered the Shanghai dumplings (we rate restaurants on the Shanghai dumplings) They came in a bamboo steam, as they always due but they were in those little pie like tins (I really hate those things!) taste was ok. Would I order them again....no. Everything else taste and looked good. The pork belly was delish! I see some people had services issued with the lack of English speaking employees, we did not have that issue. I don't speak any other language than English. We asked about one of the plates we ordered, asking if it had seafood, the staff person did not speak English but did have a English speaking employee come over to answer any questions. Other issues other reviews like to my the restaurants problem, "The little pan cake things it came with could not be separated"......it's called a fork - learn to use it! (you don't know the name of the little pan cake thing so I am sure the staff gave you fork when you arrived) And they there's the "I will never eat the again unless they change ownership" WTF does the ownership have to do with the service you received and the kitchen staff. do you know the owner...do you have grudge? it's a rigged review! read more

This place is slightly above average at best. The view is the best part, if you can get a decent seat. Was served with dirty plates and teapots with bad spouts. Old party balloons are still stuck to the ceiling if that tells you anything about their attention to detail in cleaning. Their bathrooms seem pretty clean but we all know that's not likely to last. Loved this new spot. Legit Chinese food in alameda and gorgeous views of the boats and water. We ordered duck, fried noodles with beef, pot stickers, clay pot, fried cod and every dish was classic and fantastic. Definitely over ate! Can't wait to try the dim sum. read more

When you order from the list but you bring things out one at a time and then they forget half your order. So many workers yet all of em are not paying attention to you. Dinner was excellent with set menu for 6; providing Bay Fung Tong style (garlic and spicy) fried crab; Cold platter including roasted duck, soil sauce chicken, jelly fish, cha xiao (BBQ pork), brine beef loin, sea weed; Stir-fried beef cube with mushrooms and snow peas; Chicken and herbs soup; Spicy and salty shrimps; Garlic sauteed Chinese broccoli. We added the steamed live red snapper and 3 beers. Totally bill was just $120. This was about 6 months ago. Recently, we had a 6-table banquet there. A spacious function room was given; with karaoke and AV settings. Good service and great food. Owner and head chef came to greet us as well. read more
