This is a late review! My family and I came here during their grand opening which I believe was last year. If I gave it a review during that time I would have given it a lower rating because their service was slow, the food was lukewarm, and our food orders didn't come out correctly. I never set foot once again in this restaurant after their grand opening experience. Although my parents are frequent diners in this establishment, they decided to have my grandma's birthday dinner here last week. I was skeptical about their decision, but I had no other choice to come along. I was surprised that the food has gotten better, but one dish came out lukewarm. They gladly helped us fix that dish with no problem. I feel like their service has improved since the last visit, but hiring a few more employees would be better on a busy weekend! Giving it 4 stars for satisfying our grandma's birthday dinner. read more

Food is average. Service is average. Price is significantly higher than any similar chinese restaurant in the area. I hope the owner can adjust the prices down fast. It is because all my friends who tried this restaurant said they would not come back because the food was way overpriced compared to the quality and quantity. read more

I've been here twice once of dinner and once of dim sum. The dinner was overall pretty great. The food came out promptly and was delicious. The dim sum however was a different story. Everything was super sweet. I'm not talking just deserts like the egg tart but all the dim sum was sweet. read more

Really good dim sum. Ordered off the menu, everything was fresh, hot, and very finely prepared (high quality chefs here). Classic presentations and much more refined dishes than I am used to for dim sum. Got there at 1pm on a Saturday and everything we requested seemed cooked to order, nothing gelatinous or warmed up. Very impressive - better than the Michelin starred Hong Kong East Ocean restaurant in Emeryville and East Ocean on Webster in Alameda. $61 for 4 people, pretty good! We were really excited to hear about a new upscale Chinese restaurant with a view in Alameda but were warned about the "upscale" price. We decided to give it a try and stop by for dim sum on Sunday. We were quite impressed with the location and the size of the restaurant. I was really surprised by the low quality furnishing and plate settings. The food was average with quality comparable to East Ocean. The servers were attentive and the place is fully staffed. The price is only justified by the expensive real estate. We found it pretty outrageous to charge my three-year-old tea charge. I can assure you we do not allow him any caffeine. It's very unlikely we will return. One star for the view and one star for the attentive service you don't expect at dim sum. read more

Don't let the poor reviews put you off. The dim sum is solid and the wait staff is very attentive. We got there right at opening time, and by the time we left 45 minutes later, it was pretty much packed (with Chinese grandmas and their families...that's always a good sign). You can order from the menu or from the ladies walking by with trays of dumplings, bao, etc. My favorite was the shrimp chung fun and the shrimp and pea shoot dumplings. Tried this new dim sum restaurant with my family for the first time. food is probably 1/5 but it's a cute place so if you're looking for a restaurant with a view, it's a 2/5. Food was tasteless and definitely overpriced! (Read: $7.50 for 6 shrimps) ordered around 11 items totaling around $120 for 5 people. Also they took our pot of tea away for 15 minutes without refilling. Service is average at best. Not worth a visit. read more

First time here. Ordered pot stickers, very gummie. Lemon chicken way over done. Green beans were very good and done right. First fhing they brought out was green beans and it was a good 5 minutes before the other food came. Service was okay. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

My family went for Dim Sim at this establishment this Sunday (7-23-17); here are my thoughts: Parking is easy with lots of spaces available around the restaurant, service is average (had to ask twice for water and condiments), the dim sum came out warm not hot. The most disappointing thing about the food was the fact that some of dumplings were obviously re-heated because the pastry shells were gummy. The congee was not smooth (lumps of soft rice kernels), tasteless and was lukewarm. The beef choy fun was tasteless. The chicken feet dish had large chicken feet that tasted sweet. The deep fried hom sui gok had a thick wrapper with a small amount of filler and the filler tasted sweet. The family thought the food was just average overall. This restaurant would be at the top of its class if it were located in Bakersfield California; unfortunately it is located in an area where there are much better restaurants that serve their food hot not re-warmed, fresh, and seasoned properly. They need to fire the chief cook and start all over. The only way to say this nicely is this place is for people who think they know good dim sum but wouldn't know the difference between dim sum and a frozen hot pocket. On the positive side, the bathrooms look clear and it is a good place to take non Chinese for dim sum because they won't know the difference plus they will get a great view of the Oakland Harbor. read more

The restaurant is relatively new but I have been there four times. This is a very good new Cantonese Restaurant with good dim sums and dishes. The service was excellent and the managers were friendly. We tried lunch tea, set manus and ordered dishes and they were all good. Your yelp phone number was wrong and please check it. The parking is a little confusion. The surrounding and decoration are both good. read more

I was a bit hesitant to go anywhere other than east ocean for dim sum but this place is a gem in alameda with a great view of the marina. The food was quick and prepared well - especially the Siu Mai! will be back soon! read more

Consistently the best (and the cleanest) Cantonese restaurant in the East Bay. Most others dump a ton of MSG into everything and I can tell right away; not this place though! We have gone many times since its opening for dim sum, ordinary dinners, and banquet-style dinners, with party size ranging from a few people to a few tables. There are multiple rooms for large banquets and parties as well, during both the day and the evening. They have recruited some of the best chefs for this style of restaurant, and the owners (a friendly husband-and-wife pair) are always hard at work, not only greeting their customers at the table, but behind the scenes: they work with their chefs to introduce new dishes continuously. They ask customers for their feedback, and the best dishes make it onto the menu. They also showcase impressively sized and great quality fresh seafood regularly. We have made special requests on multiple occasions and they are always happy to accomodate them - we call ahead of time to let them know. Good food with a nice view. Highly recommend! It has never failed to impress the people we bring, even on busy days. There is a large parking lot and it is always packed. (Allow enough time for parking, and avoid the lot that belongs to the neighboring yacht club.) read more

Two weeks ago we had dim sum and were pleased with it; however, the wait staff seemed too busy to be attentive to our party of 4. The restaurant is large in size with what seems to have a capacity of 100+ diners. Well, we wanted to try it again this time for dinner. We arrived @ 6 pm and the restaurant was not busy. It took more than 30 minutes to have our order taken. Well, after another 30 minutes, we had to wave down our waiter to let her know that if our first dish wasn't delivered in 5 minutes that we would leave. So, 65 minutes from the time we sat down, we had our appetizer. We ordered the pot stickers (ok), sautéed Chinese veggies (pretty oily), Singapore noodles (mostly noodles, hardly any other veggies/meats/shrimp), salt & pepper shrimp (crispy & ok), lettuce wrap/seafood (very oily). I assume their kitchen staff may not be well equipped or staffed to handle the capacity of the front of the house. We are not going back there, ever. read more

Heard about this restaurant in Alameda and decided to give it a try. It was one of those unusual cold California day in Feb. We arrived at around 11:30 am and were seated in the center of the room because all the smaller tables along the windows were occupied at the time. I thought that would be fine, boy, was I wrong!!!, The restaurant was freezing cold with no heat and I could feel cold draft coming from the main entrance which the double doors were wide opened. We asked one of the manager in suit to relocate us further in and away from the draft, I was shocked that he gestured to the corner where the waiters work station was and said "how about there" . I turned it down and asked if we could sit at the unoccupied larger table further in. The manager said it was meant for party of 6 people then turned and walked away. At the point, we were debating whether to stay or just leave. About 5 minutes, the manager came back and pointed to the larger table and said "go ahead." we sat down, still cold but at least away from the draft. I did notice ALL patrons still had their overcoat on while eating. (ummm, it was cold!!) we picked several dishes of dim sum and a stir fried beef noodle dish. they came, we ate. It was expected, inferior!(I was hoping the food would made up for the cold and draft) Na.......dim sum don't even make the grade, beef noodles was bland, mushy and no flavor. nuff said. By the way, service was a big 0. none of the water/waitress said one word or a smile the whole time except "thank you" and walked away when I paid my bill. read more

We tried Pacific Lighthouse on the second week following their grand opening after having a look at their banquet menus, many private banquet rooms and opulent aquaria of live fish, dungeness crab, prawns, lobster and king crab (!!). The restaurant's atmosphere reminded me very much of the huge restaurants in mainland China with many private banquet rooms for private meals and events. The main dining room has a beautiful view of the harbor as do a few of the private rooms. The menu is very much like that of fancy banquet halls in China with exclusive and expensive dishes like bird's nest soup, abalone, lobster, crab, suckling pig and peking duck to lavish on your guests. Obviously they are catering primarily to an upscale Chinese clientele and folks should not be surprised that the some of the staff have limited proficiency in English, that meals can be expensive or fault them that kung pao and general tso's chicken are not prominent on the menu. On our first visit we ordered live prawns served raw, then they fried the heads for us and brought them separately, sauteed pea shoots and a soy sauce chicken dish. The prawns were exquisitely fresh and very flavorful. The pea shoot dish was excellent, the greens very fresh and the portion generous. The soy sauce chicken was excellent, the skin delectably crispy and the flesh moist. The folks giving this new restaurant short shrift are mistaken and do not recognize the authenticity of what this place is trying to accomplish. It is a Chinese banquet hall restaurant that would not be out of place in Shanghai or Hong Kong and which I believe should become a fixture of the Alameda and East Bay food scene. read more
