We were a party of 5 ladies that just finished a hike & were dressed in yoga pants (casual) & we were there for brunch. We had a reservation. When we checked in we were told we had to wait so the staff can catch up despite the many open tables. When we were seated, we were literally put in the back corner totally isolated surrounded by many open other tables. It was obvious, this was the worse take in the restaurant. We requested a table that had sun & closer to the ocean views. We were told, sorry those tables are booked for larger parties that have reservations (we had a res too). One of us ran next door to see if Monarch could get us in & at that point we were told we could switch tables. We truly feel we were discriminated against based on the way we looked in our casual yoga pants. No large party ever showed up so we know that was a lie. We were definitely profiled in some sort of way. But our food was really good & our server was awesome. She didn't treat us poorly, we feel it was one of the managers. We also feel we won't return & will just go to the other options that are in that location. We realize we weren't dressed up but it was at noon & many other people were casual too. We weren't dirty, just casual, but they did make us feel like we were dirty. read more

First, when I went into the restaurant, the restaurant was different than what I saw in the photos. It was too dark inside to even see the food and menu. When I asked the waiter if there was lobster, they just simply told me "If it's not on the menu, we don't have it." in a very rude tone. I was very surprised on how the waiters treated their customers in their daily basis. Next, the food was very expensive compared to their quantity but I thought the quality of the food would be worth the price so we ordered what we wanted to order. However, when we got the food, the salmon that I ordered was burnt and the taste was way below my expectations. Thankfully, the wine that I ordered was the best out of the things that I ordered but still below my expectations. Additionally, I ordered dessert but it would not come for over 15 minutes, so I asked the waiter when it would come and the waiter thought that I already ate my dessert. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. My friends were visiting from out of town. Our appetizers arrived on time but the entrees took 1.5 hours!! No joke! The waitress was avoiding us during this time. When our food finally arrived, I ordered the $45 lobster, which I thought would be a lobster. It was lobster ravioli with a paltry amount of meat. I was shocked! The lobster description on the menu is far from lobster ravioli, and is lobster ravioli that pricy? My friend ordered the steak, and it was evidently well done instead of medium like he requested. When he sent it back, the new "steak" was a piece of gargantuan fat! It was disgusting! It's like the kitchen said, "screw you for asking us to cook your steak the way you requested." My other friend ordered the vegetable with a whopping 2 pieces of broccoli, a few shredded carrots, and it mostly being broth. I had to get up twice to request the manager and he did nothing about it. What a waste of an evening and $200. I will never be back and you shouldn't go either. read more

I had dinner at Pacifica Del Mar with a girlfriend a couple of weeks ago (it was our third time for dinner there). Again, I was happily satisfied with my experience. I've tried different food every time and all were very good to excellent. The Dungeness Crab Cake is delightful, tender and flaky. The Roasted Local Beet salad is fresh and tasty. The New Zealand Seabass is a must. If you plan to go there only once, try this dish. The White Prawn Ziti has tender prawns and 'al dente' zitis. If you feel like splurging, try the lobster; it is very nice. The service is always excellent. Professional service offered by a courteous and well trained staff. The service is well paced and you won't feel rushed. The view, of course, is to die for. Arrive early enough to enjoy one of their delicious cocktails, and you are in for a great evening! read more

Had dinner in the Private Wine Room 11/11/14. Had to walk through part of kitchen to get there, then door to the "not so private" room was left open making normal volume conversation difficult over kitchen noises and server talk until the door was finally closed once first courses were served.. An order of 6 oysters was served on a platter for 12 oysters, sloppily and without rearrangement, leaving 6 empty holes in the remaining ice. Tacky at best! IPad-type wine list cumbersome and having to pass a single IPad around a table with a group of 7 persons unnecessarily time-consuming. WInes by glass selections short and unimaginative. Waiter service was fine; some of the food was exclaimed over, but some (stay away from the Seafood Risotto) was way below par. All in all, a disappointing evening. read more

We started with my signature Espresso Martini (of course!) and hubby's Stone IPA, while enjoying the stunning view. The starters were a hit: Warm Olive Sourdough - dangerously good. Steamed Mussels - buttery, flavorful, and perfect for dipping. Crispy Calamari - crispy and delicious. For mains: Sugar-Spiced Salmon - melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Grilled 7oz Filet Mignon - tender and full of flavor. We finished with: Mocha Semifreddo - a coffee lover's dream. Pacifica's Burnt Cream - rich and creamy perfection. Service was excellent. Greeted by our waitress and told about Pacifica's signature dishes. Ordered the Beet & Burrata salad and some Ahi Poke Nachos as well as the Yellowtail Crudo for appetizers. All were amazing! The main course was the waitress's recommendation of the Sugar Spiced Salmon. Cooked skin-on with just the right amount of char, the mustard sauce made for an exciting flavor profile. We couldn't decide on dessert so we enjoyed a trio of the Molten Lava Cake, the Key Lime Pie, & the Peanut Butter cheesecake (my recommendation of the 3). The views were amazing, the atmosphere upscale but relaxed, with an indoor/outdoor patio deck that made for a perfect summertime dinner. You must try this place if you've never been! read more

My husband and I took our good friends to Pacifica this weekend for dinner. They were busy but the wait wasn't too long. When we were seated, we were greeted by a nice waitress but rarely saw her after that. She didn't refill our waters or wine when it got low, didn't bring out the bread until our friend to ask another waiter for bread and more water and he didn't get his appetizer either. The only time she asked us how we were doing was at the end when it was time to pay the check. It's great that the restaurant was busy but service is very important too. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. I went with my parents and husband on Friday for my birthday and the food was such a disappointment. :(( My husband got their pasta dish with prawns and it was disgusting. The prawns were like rubber and the pasta was overly cooked with too much sauce. My brother ordered the same thing, so both of them had a terrible meal. I ordered the salmon, which was OK. It wasn't anything to get too excited about. When you spend a couple of hundred dollars, you expect to get a nice meal.......but unfortunately this place is not what it used to be. This is my and my family's first time dining here. We chose this restaurant to celebrate my Mom's birthday. When it came time to order our Server tells us they just ran out of their Wednesday Surf & Turf special at 7:30pm (we were ordering at about 7:50pm). This Wednesday Special was a deciding factor among our restaurant choices. For a highly regarded restaurant, this is unacceptable. No where was it listed that there was limited availability for this special. It no longer matters whether or not the remainder of the meal was acceptable. The decor is contemporary chic and in the village of Del Mar. Great views during the day and parking is plentiful in the garage and the restaurant validates up to 2 hours. Our server was Alan on a few occasions an he is friendly and pleasant. Very efficient without hovering. The other wait staff were always there to clear and ensure that we were always comfortable and not lacking anything or ready to fill a request. We had the dusted scallops and pan roasted halibut. Overall, everything was great. We got the goat cheese appetizer instead of a salad because the salad options were not very exciting. Only 2 choices, one of which was a caesar. The appetizer was really good but way too small for the price. The sea bass was delicious...especially smothered in that spicy coconut curry sauce. The Brussel sprouts were very tasty but a bit on the sweet side. The bon bon ice cream dessert was amazing...loved the chocolate hardsell. Very happy with the portion size of everything except the goat cheese appetizer. I will definitely be back again soon!! read more

While traveling through San Diego (Del Mar) area I had my pooch with me. They accepted my pooch and at first I got some weird looks because I have a large dog, but hey who doesn't like to look?! The food was good and the view was just as good. One complaint I have is the slow service to bring your food out. I went when there was not a lot of people and waited twenty minutes for a simple sandwich. My dog and I will be going back if I am ever in the area. Prices were reasonable and staff was friendly. I went to Pacifica Del Mar and had a fantastic experience. The ocean views from the patio on a clear day are absolutely stunning--perfect for a relaxing meal. The food portions are generous, cooked to perfection, and taste incredible. Service is also on point; the staff are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Love this place. Great food, especially the seafood, great location and an amazing view. Easily one of the best terraces in the San Diego area. The Seafood Risotto is absolutely delicious and their daily specials are usually worth trying. I also love just seating at the bar and having a dozen fresh shucked oysters along with my Don Julio.
