    Sugar Spiced Salmon Hash
    Alyssa S.

Was going to go for a special occasion lunch to Monarch next door. Monarch doesn't take reservations but we figured we would try our luck. 6 people line out the door there. No thanks! Especially when the hostess at Pacifica had no line and the patio is gorgeous. Plus they have lunch specials which Monarch didn't seem to have - so you can get their Sugar-Spiced Salmon entree at lunchtime for only $20 - with that gorgeous ocean view! Our server was extremely nice, and we got a shaded table right at the glass looking out at the ocean. I decided to get a "brunch" dish - sugar spiced salmon hash with poached eggs, potatoes and fennel. It was a little heavy but very delicious. The salmon was perfectly grilled. And $20 at a posh restaurant like this looking out at the ocean was A-Ok with me. It's easy to sleep on Pacifica cuz it's been here so long and is not the next-new thing - but it's a great patio with great food and they're super nice! And parking was free and easy in the garage downstairs on a weekday lunch.

Had an early dinner on the outdoor patio with girlfriends on a Sunday. John was our server. He and the other wait staff were timely, good at making wine suggestions, answered our many questions and were very accommodating. The food and drinks came out quickly too! When it comes to the location and ambiance you can't beat it. Made me wonder why I don't come more often. We shared Brussels sprouts, oysters, and bread, beet salad, ahi nachos and 2 entrees amongst the 5 of us. There was no rush for us to leave and there were a lot of different menu selections.

Date night perfection at @pacificadelmar Del Mar From the butternut squash ravioli with poached lobster to the salmon over green beans, crispy calamari, and flavorful crab cakes--every bite was a win. Paired with a beautiful bottle of wine and finished strong with key lime pie and peanut butter pie A must for a special night out. Love the service it is soo amazing and love the atmosphere.

Usually enjoy this place for its location and casual dining. Girl at counter was great. However, wait over 30 minutes for a bowl of fruit and Açaí bowl that we had to ask about seems like an issue with communication. When food came out, seems pretty rushed in putting together.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant and finally made it to Del Mar. Food & drinks were delicious. We had the halibut plate & glazed salmon plates. For appetizers we enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Poke. Portion sizes were good. The atmosphere and view from the restaurant is so awesome. Before dark you can see the ocean. Make a reservation they get busy. We happened to stop here during Restaurant Week. Good specials. I wasn't crazy about the Cesar salad. But everything else was so good. If you're looking for fresh seafood, you have to try this restaurant it's so good.

We had the place to ourselves on a Saturday for brunch. It was sort of sad to see because Monarch next door was packed. We were seated out on their covered patio with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our waitress was good though we did have to track her down a few times. The food was hit or miss. I thought the salmon hash was mediocre and the portion was on the small side. The Banana Foster French toast was good and was a huge portion.

First and foremost, the view was absolutely stunning! The atmosphere alone made for a wonderful dining experience. Our server was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. She made several recommendations, and every one of them was spot on. I ordered the sugar-spiced salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, mustard sauce, and Chinese green beans. The dish was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The combination of sweet and savory flavors paired wonderfully with the creamy mashed potatoes and crisp green beans. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with great food, excellent service, and an unforgettable view. I would definitely return.

We came here during restaurant week and were excited to try something new. The restaurant week menu was a great deal and gave us a chance to try something a variety of items. The salmon was fantastic! Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Another item we ordered was the Halibut. The sauce had a little kick to it and came on a bed of rice and bok choy. For appetizers, I recommend starting with the poke nachos. For drinks, I loved both the spicy watermelon margarita and the watermelon martini. Try getting a reservation during sunset because you'll have a great view how of the ocean!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS wonderful brunch spot with an amazing view of the ocean. I reserved using Open Table. They have a very nice brunch on Sundays. Our reservation was for 5 and then 3 others in our group decided that they wanted to participate. I couldn't change the reservation on open table so I called the restaurant. The gentleman who answered the phone was super understanding and added to our reservation and made it 8. Fast forward to the day of brunch and 2 people could not make it, so the manager was very kind enough to change our seating to fit 6. OUR TABLE WAS IN THE PERFECT SPOT! The view was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND EVERYTHING! Our server was Gabby, and she was amazing. She has these really cute earrings and she took great care of us. Her customer service was FIRST CLASS! Our party is used to bottomless mimosas and they do not have that here so we were able to ask the chef for two bottles of prosecco and sides of mimosa juices, a la carte. This worked out very well as we were able to pour how we wanted and not bother the staff for refills. The FOOD IS AMAZING HERE! The Chef definitely is top tier. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We ordered: FOR THE TABLE: Brussels Sprouts in a honey glaze sauce with feta -FREAKING DELICIOUS! MEALS: Short Rib Hash over potatoes with a fried egg on top, Chicken Fries Steak Benedict (best meal ever), American Breakfast, and a Traditional Hash. One of our ladies was not hungry after the Brussels Sprouts appetizer. I ABSOLUTELY recommend this restaurant for brunch. There is also a Pacifica Café below with a nice view and patio seating. This is probably my new fave brunch spot. Gabby was wonderful, the manager was super customer service oriented, and the whole staff was First Class!

We arrived a little before our reservation and yet we're promptly seated at the most beautiful small table with spectacular ocean views. Minutes later during a sorbet- colored sunset, we were served our drinks and toasted while watching whales breech off in the distance. Our server Lindsey was amazing, super friendly, accommodating, gave great recommendations, and was super swift with refilling drinks, bringing sides, and in general was very attentive! We enjoyed fresh oysters, a lemongrass infused shrimp cocktail, spicy Fra Divola shrimp linguine pasta, roasted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts, and for dessert, Keylime pie and chocolate lava cake. Everything was spectacular! Next time we are in Del Mar, we will definitely return! ** parking was the only issue, we had to circle around quite a few different lots within a five minute walk to finally find a parking spot.

Very decent spot. The food is consistently good. With the Poke nachos being a clear standout, after being jaded from a nearby experience with Poke this was much better and good quality fish. Every dish we got was tasty and flavorful. The service is pretty swift, kind and professional. If you sit outside there are nice views of the water in the distance.

Mulligatawny soup. Very-well made with the perfect seasoning
    Patty C.

I've been to Pacifica many times, especially pre-COVID and have always enjoyed their happy hour options. This visit, though, was extra special because we came for Restaurant Week lunch and were treated to the full menu. I was thrilled to see their Mulligatawny soup included. I love the flavor, and the portion size was generous enough that one serving left me completely satisfied. From the moment my mom and I were seated by the hostess, Lily, I knew it was going to be a fun and memorable day. She was incredibly kind and accommodating with our seating request and placed us on the patio with the perfect ocean view. Absolutely beautiful. Our waitress, Isela, was equally wonderful. She was friendly, professional, and very attentive, especially when my mom needed some menu modifications due to dietary restrictions. Isela made sure everything could be adjusted, which made my mom feel truly taken care of. My mom ordered the salmon and said it was cooked perfectly. Thank you, Isela, for being so warm and hospitable. Daniel also deserves a shout-out. He was constantly checking on us, refilling water, clearing plates, and keeping our table neat without ever being intrusive. The entire staff worked seamlessly together. Overall, fantastic food, great service, and an unbeatable view. I highly recommend Pacifica for happy hour, Restaurant Week, or a relaxing night out by the ocean

    Allow dogs for outside seating?

Hi Andrew, our bar patio is dog friendly!

Do they still have happy hour?

Yes they do, at least M-Th and I believe it goes until 6:30pm. We went on a Wednesday a few weeks ago

    Do they offer outside seating?

Typically , yes! Not sure now due to COVID restrictions.

How much does someone spend here if it's for 2 people?

Right now, nothing, and we hope they re-open and succeed as soon as COVID is under control.

What are the hours of happy hour?

Everyday 4-6:30; All night Sunday & Monday

Do they still offer the early bird menu?

Hello, yes we are currently offering a new 3 for $30 tasting menu in celebration of our 30 year anniversary for our early bird menu. It is on our website if you'd like to preview it.

This restaurant showed up on a list for vegan options. Where are the vegan options? ...I do not see anything on the menu that specifies this

I wasn't looking for vegan options but if they have some, they are few. It's primarily a seafood restaurant.

Thank you Sanjiv for your invite. We will surely stop by next time we are in town. We appreciate you for commenting on our review. When is the best time to come in for Shrimp? Or is that all year round?

Minuses: when the waitress was clearing the oyster plate from the table, she spilled a bit on my boyfriend. After my boyfriend cleaned it up, he kindly requested another napkin... she said okay then brought the napkin over to another person at the table. It felt very weird and uncomfortable. Also, the happy hour food we received (crab cakes and a slider) were laughably small... i wish I took a picture but it was nothing I wanted to remember. This place has potential but the customer service has room for improvement and the food portions should be reconsidered... or at least be consistent- the table next to us said they also ordered from the happy hour menu but their crab cakes looked nothing like ours. Disappointing

Two Visits - Happy Hour & Late Night…read more 1st Visit - After reading the reviews for the Postino Del Mar restaurant, I suggested trying it for happy hour to a business associate whom I was meeting for the first time. When I made the reservation, I asked if it was possible to find a place that wouldn't be too close to the bar, as I didn't want the typical happy hour noise that might make it hard to hear one another. And they delivered! My business associate got there before I did and asked how I reserved such a prime spot! She was seated right next to the outdoor fireplace! We decided to take advantage of the $7 glasses of wine they offer until 5pm for happy hour and asked our server, for a suggestion on something to nibble on. She immediately went to the bruschetta board and said we could pick four different types to make up our board. Not only were they a delicious delight, but the fact that arrived pre-cut made dividing them up much easier! Our server treated us to a dessert - hot donut dots, which came with tasty dipping sauces. What a sweet treat, literally and figuratively! 2nd Visit - The next time I returned it was to join some family members who were there dining but because I had already eaten, I just joined them for a drink. So this time I got to sit on the inside, which was just as enjoyable. We had a server who was training another server and they both did an outstanding job. It was a first visit for my family members and they were really impressed with what they had eaten and the service. So whether dining inside or outside, the atmosphere is wonderful, the food offerings are delicious and the service is top-notch! Restaurants are way too loud in general, but some things are outside their control. Playing music too loud for people at the same table to have a conversation is not one of them!! Also, the Postino website does not allow you to complete their online survey--at least not if you are giving them a poor rating. I tried several times and concluded that they have it set up to prevent you from submitting a sub-par review. Not really interested in constructive feedback, I guess.
