Went for the $30 app, dinner and dessert offer. Food was ok. But I would of been angry paying the normal prices that were listed on the menu.. Incredibly over priced for the so-so food which was served. We had a very nice server. During our dinner, a large angry man, who I can only assume was the owner, came out and started yelling at our server in front of us.. We felt awful for him as it seemed he was doing a good job. This is a fairly new place at the shore, located in what used to be Piancones. It was also just reviewed in the NY Times less than 2 weeks ago and got good marks for food, but they felt the service was uneven. I went on a Thursday night in June and was surprised that it was empty. I really like the atmosphere (although others say its too noisy -- since it was empty, was not a problem!). There's a fairly big bar area and a separate dining area. While the pace of our courses arriving was fine, our waiter was definitely 'off'. He didn't know the special, didn't offer fresh pepper, didn't pour the wine correctly (and this is supposed to be a restaurant and wine bar...). With the exception of the complimentary brushetta they sent out, the food was quite good. Very big portions on the entree pastas. Menu pricing was a mixed bag -- some things seemed high to me, others were fine. Wines by the glass were quite reasonably priced -- although for a wine bar, they need a larger overall selection. 5-course Sunday gravy meal was heaven. Started with tomatoes and mozzarella. Jersey tomatoes are the best for sure. Nicely seasoned with EVOO and pepper. Next was standard issue garden salad. Then rice balls. Quite delicious with the creamy red sauce. Then the main event: Sunday gravy. Oh yes!! It comes family style; rigatoni in a tomatoey broth and a separate bowl of chunky Italian gravy (sauce for the non-Italians reading this!) with meatballs, sausage and braciole. I said yum under my breath with each bite. I had a little left over so I am bringing it home to freeze. Coffee and dessert are included, too -- a mini cannoli and mini biscotti. Came her & decided on happy hour apps instead of a full dinner. We sat at the bar & shared a bar pie (meatballs & mushrooms), cavatelli & broccoli, & meatball sliders. All were quite good & came out nice & hot. For $5 a piece (plus an additional $3 for toppings on pizza) we really couldn't go wrong. Nice atmosphere & a bit older crowd on this weeknight. They have a couple of decent craft beers on tap that pleased hubby. I had a Pinot Noir house wine which was not very good but then tried the Jargon Pinot, a much better choice. A nice local Restuarnat albeit a bit expensive to frequent often for the type of food. Calamari is excellent and salads are good too. Lamb chops were delicious! My friend had the pork chop saltibucco and loved it. The Oreicette(sp) with sausage and broccoli Rabe was good but not worth $26. Old school waitress who we had in the Past was great. Went here once before for happy hour and it was decent so we decided to try again..they upped their bar menu 'happy hour' prices and didn't update the menu on the website. They also cut down the portions. I get doing either or but not increase prices AND lower portions. We paid $12 for two 'gourmet' mozzarella sticks. The garlic steak app was also way over cooked then the temp we ordered. No music on what so ever. We sat there in complete silence. We have been coming to Bradley beach and Ocean Grove for several years now and we were very happy to come across Pagano's UVA It's a refreshing break from the typical jersey shore beachside scene, and we appreciate the professional service too . (Not always in the mood for the youngster on school break who's best only comes out when it's time to bring the check) We enjoy the happy hour bar specials, a nice assortment from a personal pizza, to the steak on garlic bread , they are all so tasty and at $5.00 worth sampling several along with drinks. I'll warn you that the place fills up just in time for the start of happy hour with locals, so get there early if this is your plan. They have live music most weekends too. I see that they offer breakfast and brunch, although we have not tried that just yet. The staff is friendly and knowledgable , the locals we've come across have been friendly and interesting overall, and we've come to recognize a few "regulars". Recently I celebrated a landmark birthday here with a total of 13 friends, on a busy summer Saturday night. The service was spot on and everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals which ranged from Italian dishes , to steaks ( I highly recommend the cowboy steak!) I was visiting a friend that lives in the area and she wanted to take me here for dinner. We had a reservation and when we walked in there was no one working the hostess desk. A couple walked in after us and they were seated before anyone even said hello or acknowledged us. Then a waiter came over a few minutes later and seated us. Way too long to enter a restaurant and be ignored. The menu had a great selection and variety of dishes and a nice list of specials. We had an appetizer special that was buffalo mozzarella over artichoke hearts with roasted fennel. We enjoyed that and it was more than enough for two people. My friend utensils had dried food on them. I used to work in food service and you always check your utensils for spots before placing on the table. They had a nice wine selection. I had a glass of Sav Blanc from California and it was great. For dinner I had the a pasta - Orechiette with broccoli rabe and sausage in garlic and oil. It was actually pretty delish and the portion size was great. My friend had the Shrimp in butter sauce with sauteed spinach and potatoes. She loved it. We shared a chocolate chip cookie cake for dessert and it was awesome!!! But probably way too heavy after the meal we just had. The waitress, Amanda, was very nice and attentive. We go to Pagano's at least twice a month for dinner since I moved here in December. The food is ALWAYS amazing as are the drinks. The outdoor dining setup due to COVID looks so professional and the tiki bar is so cute. While we had a bit of a wait for our food on a busy Saturday night it was WELL worth the wait! My husband got the Pork chops Murphy. So juicy and tender! Side of broccoli rabe was great. I got the broccoli rabe and chicken sausage appetizer as a main dish. Delicious!! We also had a plate of escarole and beans. Also excellent. Not oily at all. Again..be patient people!! This is a dinner review from a Saturday night at 8:30pm. We had no reservation and were promptly seated (we chose outdoor table). Immediate service but he had little personality. We ordered wine, baked clams appetizer and a margarita pizza. I had 3 Baked clams which were tough and barely edible. Pizza tasted fresh. Cappuccinos were a nice way to end the evening. While staying at picturesque Spring Lake we went here for a dinner on Tuesday evening. I was drawn to the place by the fact it was near full. It turned out it was live singer Tuesday at wine bar. That was too loud for us as we were with kids so we went to the dining room in the back. Another catch for us was half prices for Pasta, another Tuesday promo. I can't speak to the service as I have never dined there; however, my husband and I order takeout from Pagano's Uva multiple times per month. The food travels well and is outstanding! We particularly love the salmon piccata, the branzino scarola, the rigatoni Norma, and the pappardelle bolognese! The food is always fresh and consistent! I'm a Giamano's fan. That said, I was craving a glass of wine and bowl of red sauce. The closest they had was the rigatoni norma. It was just okay. The sauce didn't come together well. It was very thin and there wasn't a lot of flavor. There were chunks of eggplant that should have been cooked longer and the eggplant should have been peeled. Pieces of fresh mozz were tossed in and made eating the dish hard to do, as they were very stringy and clumped together. I will probably give Uva another shot, but will go with something different for an entree. read more
