Most jewelers date their batteries with a marker and I believe he had as well, but he denied having done the replacement and refused to replace it. For the $1.00 or so, not more it had cost him, since he already had the watch open, the smart thing with respect to customer good will would have been to just put in a new one. But he wasn't smart enough to do that. However he is very shrewd and I think, dishonest. With respect to his incessant TV ads to sell you gold and Rolex watches there for cash, I would suggest you get other quotes on your gold/Rolex before going to Marquis Jewelers!

Then the conversation was very different than what I had on the phone with them. We recently bought an engagement ring and other items elsewhere, and have spent likely thousands. We can be great customers, but no one wanted to help me, and when they did notice me it was such an uncomfortable experience. I believe the sales ladies were trying to be nice, but the space in the store is very narrow and crowded, and awkward. I was never asked my name, or any other information. They were very apologetic the entire time. I did drop off the item, but after retalking about it and seeing the other reviews, I went back for the item because It was an uncomfortable experience and I was worried something would happen to a family jewelry item. I would definitely read the reviews, as their experience is similar to mine as someone coming in for an item repair. They were more interested in people buying items right away, and did not seem interested in me or my needs as a brand new customer.

I was quoted numbers that were in my budget, and I picked the ring up a month and a half later. Pano had told me that he would need to do some amount of custom work on the ring, but when I arrived he told me that he found out later he needed to make the ring from scratch, and that he should have quoted me about 50% more expensive. I still paid my original price, so to make up for it, here's a review. Getting this ring was a great experience from my end, and I was thrilled with the expertise that was brought to the table.

Gary inspected the ring in great detail and made a recommendation to remove some of the shank and rebuild it, as well as to place tension springs to prevent spinning and slipping. He took his time to measure my finger for the optimal fit. I was told by another jeweler that all of my prongs needed replacement and I wanted a second opinion. Gary again took his time to inspect all the prongs and reassured me that they didn't need replacement. I was very glad for his honesty. The next business day, Gary fixed the ring in 3-4 hours and it came out beautifully. I was so nervous previously to entrust someone with my ring, but I felt at ease. Gary offered that I stay and watch the entire process. He told me to inspect my gemstone carefully after his job was complete as general good practice after having my jewelry worked on! I am so happy with the end result and strongly recommend this jeweler. The key factors that impressed me most were honesty, trustworthiness, attention to detail, patience, mastery of his craft, and sharing of knowledge/providing an understandable rationale for his decision-making. I will absolutely be returning for intermittent ring checks!

I brought it here to get resized and an updated appraisal. Once there, Ali talked me through ways to improve how the center diamond was set in the ring. We worked together and came up with a personalized frame and chose to add some side baguette diamonds to make the appearance of the center stone look bigger than it is. After a lot of back and forth, we came up with the perfect vision for the ring. Ali, Hagop and their whole team worked so hard in bringing my vision to life. I wanted to keep the integrity of my grandmother's ring while enhancing it slightly. I can't say enough good things about all of them. Trust them with your family heirlooms. I have been a customer in this store many many times in Newton, Boston and Nantucket and have purchased many pieces in this store in FACT I wrote an honest review on here and it has become quite controversial, in the news, in the globe and in several places on line. Yelp is for honest reviews and the experience that the consumer had in their own view as long as it is honest and I assure you that mine is honest, this is why yelp kept it up. They do their research. They want to keep their business model honest whereas people do not feel threatened and or bullied by writing their truth. THese people have taken yelp to court to find out who I am to sue me using their own family member as an attorney who is a personal injury attorney. Again, I was shocked at the peanuts on the diamonds I received and I was in a desperate situation , hence selling my wedding ring and other items some from Pageo. I should have gone somewhere else, yes this is true, but I thought I could trust someone I had done much business with. These people stated I was a "yelp terrorist", a "natzi". Both not true as in the records I indicated that I wanted nothing from them in return.. Interesting to see how they now have removed all of the negative remarks from their reviews. Very Very interesting. YOU cannot get blood out of a stone , but I will gladly fight for my rights and the rights of others in the United States of America and in this case the state of Massachusetts. Shame shame shame. I've had a couple of fantastic experiences with Pageo. I first fell in love with the place when a couple of my colleagues took me to the store, insisting I look for a wedding band for my courthouse wedding the next day (a great decision as I walked out with a perfect pink saphire and rose gold band, at a good price). Recently, I decided to buy my first pair of non-costume earings, and I ordered a stunning pair from their website. After purchasing them I received a call from the store saying that they had just sold them but would happily order another set for me. Then when the earings came in and I went to pick them up (they can also deliver) I realized that I really should have looked at the size online, as they were much bigger and more of statemet than I was looking for. Even though they had ordered them specifically for me they were happy to refund me entirely and did not try to pressure me into anything else. However, with so many beautiful things in the shop, I ended up walking out a pair of earings (tiny diamond hopes in rose gold), an amazing opal ring, and a little money back from my original purchase. I will definitely be shopping at this friendly, unique, family owned shop in the future. And yes, my husband now has their business card in his wallet to remind him where to shop for anniversary presents! read more

Pageo is my favorite jewelry store. The staff is kind, honest and tremendously helpful. I did not feel pressured into buying something and I felt that they were truly trying to help me find a piece of jewelry that was right for me. I was eyeing a beautiful ring for awhile. I kept on coming back to try it on and I was always greeted with a smile and kindness. I ended up buying the ring and I love it!!! My husband bought my wedding ring from Pageo on Newbury street and we have gone back to this shop together ever since. caroline, who helped my husband find me the most perfect ring ever, has helped us through the births of our three children (and my 3 amazing push gifts!) and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. she unfailingly remembers every piece of jewelry I've ever purchased so she knows exactly where I need to fill in gaps and how i can wear things together. The best jeweler in Boston! The selection is extremely vast. I can honestly say, that they have the prettiest jewelry around. They have something at every price point and will make sure to find the perfect piece for you. They're very selective with their inventory and all pieces are of the best quality. I had to get a diamond evaluated that I had just received a GIA certification for, and one of the managers named Caroline showed me a report called a Rapapport valuation to give me an idea of what the stone might be worth to a private buyer, based on their knowledge of the markup/valuation process. I was very impressed that they did not try to diminish the value of the stone to take advantage of an amateur, and will likely make any of my purchases here vs going to the diamond district in NY where a buyer or seller might get ripped off. read more

I needed a ring designed and went to a few jewelry stores before finding Pageo Jewelers in Newton, MA. I worked with a woman named Pam who was quite knowledgeable and helped me to create the perfect ring. In addition, Pam was able to give me a better price on the ring than the other two jewelry stores I had been to. would never have bothered to review my experience here if not for the recent lawsuit. I am not one for leaving bad reviews, but clearly Pageo is in the business of exploiting poorly informed consumers and doesn't want anyone pointing that out. When I too needed to sell some jewelry because of hard times I came to Pageo. Their offer was less than half of the lowest offer I received and about 30% of the offer I finally accepted after going to five stores. read more

I wanted a sparkly, quality diamond on a reasonable budget. We found the style I wanted. A large stone, semi-antique look, surrounded by little diamonds and diamonds on the band. But the prices offered at the chains had too much of a markup- (we consulted Blue Nile for an acceptable range). Then we found the Diamond Vault. The folks at the Diamond Vault were so helpful. We had three visits before making the final call Each one was relatively low pressure. First we found the right setting. They have fairly good range of settings, but don't have the selection of some of the large chains.What they did have was a unique take on the common setting types. Next we started talking the 4 Cs, they were very knowledgeable. We landed on what we wanted and they sent off for a couple diamonds for our next visit. I noticed some gorgeous necklaces while I was in there for the ring, but I kept my eye on the prize We spent an hour our next visit chatting about the diamonds, looking through the magnifying lens at occlusions, and comparing the colors. I got my every question answered. We were quoted a price and once we did some comparisons were were astonished how great the deal was. The ring took a month or so to be set. They even offered a suggestion to help up save an addition couple hundred. My ring is gorgeous and is well complimented to friends and strangers alike! Whenever we have had to go back for a cleaning, or for insurance docs, they have been happy to see us and more than helpful. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because a little side stone popped out a couple weeks after getting the stone, but they were apologetic and happy to fix it. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly!!
