My theory for the huge line is that 50% of it is because there's only one person working the register and handing out food out front, while the other 50% is that the food is actually good. The prices for the other items on the menu seem oddly high for what they are. Came here twice. Once for dine in and the other time for take out. The first time we visited was on a Monday around 6pm and there was no line. It was also Thanksgiving break so I guess many were out of town. The second time was on Saturday around noon and it was packed! They quoted my order would take 45 minutes but really it was only 15 minutes. I was surprised when the pager went off but I guess this way it's a good surprise lol We love their Jajangmyeon and their jjamppong soup noodles. Their Jajangmyeon easily feeds my two kids and me while their Jjamppong can get really spicy, proceed with caution. Super tasty though, would order 1000 times more. Only took one star off because the noodles were so soggy after a 25-minute ride. It'd be a solid 5-stars if I'd rate for dine-in. read more

This has to be the best value in the H mart food court because there was so much seafood and the portion was so big I was able to eat this for almost two meals! Let me begin by saying, noodles are my favorite food in the world. If I had to pick one food to eat for the rest of my life it would be a toss up between noodles and french fries. Anyway, the noodles I ordered here were nearly inedible. They were drenched in some sauce that tasted bland and salty. I paid $26 including tip for it (had to double tip. As I was finishing up and leaving my tip on the screen, I heard the guy who was helping me say, "all tips left on the card are given to the owner. Cash tips are for the employees." I had already left a tip on my card before I was able to register what he said. So of course I left a cash tip as well. There was no sign or anything indicating which tips go to whom. I came here at the recommendation of a Korean friend who moved to Austin just a few years ago from Korea. She said she tried the jajjangmyeon here and it was "the best she'd ever had, even better than most places in Korea." I used to live in Korea too and crave the food all the time so I was VERY excited to have a potential new Austin place that does jajjangmyeon well. Needless to say - I loved it. I can't say it was better than the equivalent in Korea but it tasted every bit as authentic. And I love that since it's inside H mart you can also get snacks from the other food court places (I was side eyeing a deokbeokki place, but didn't go that day since I was too full!), as well as get your pastries at Tour Le Jours (which is a common bakery chain in Korea, and just makes me feel nostalgic . And of course you can do your grocery shopping too which is a plus. And an additional one up: there is a live music area that has shows on some weeknights with a little stage right there in the food court! I went in the middle of the afternoon on a Wednesday so there were no live performers but the billboard there mentioned several nights with folks, and they had a big screen up playing Christmas k-pop music videos while I was eating. Overall love the ambiance - my only qualm is H mart is SO far north and I love VERY far south. Wish they'd open one south/central and have a Paik'a noodle there! read more

Love this place! Definitely my new favorite place inside the Hmart food court. Austin has been in dire need of a jjajjangmyeon shop and Paik's delivers. Portion sizes will leave you more than full and prices are on the cheap side, so everything is awesome! The classic combo is jjajjangmyeon and tangsuyuk and both are excellent. Black bean noodles are slightly sweet, but is comfort food at it's finest. The tangsuyuk is fresh and crisp and comes with the sauce that is not too sweet. The texture is definitely more mochi like, but it keeps the pork from getting too soggy in the sauce. My go to order though is the Jjampong - spicy seafood soup with noodles is the perfect thing on a colder day especially. Note: they don't do to go orders and they're still in the midst of expanding their menu, so I'm sure more things will be available on the menu over time. read more

Stopped by for a bite after grocery shopping, and couldn't be happier. This place is in the "Austin Market Eatery" inside H Mart. There are about 10 restaurants offering a variety of Asian foods. I ordered the Jjamppong - Korean seafood noodle soup. The soup was rich and spicy, but not overpowering with heat. The noodles were just the right balance of light chewyness and slippery mouth feel. The soup was flavorful and brimming with mussels, squid, pork strips and onions, zucchini, carrots, cabbage, cloud ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, onions and scallions . This bowl of noodles was huge. The photo doesn't do it justice. I believe the bowl was about 12" in diameter. One of the photos is about 10 minutes into the meal and you can see I barely made a dent. The black bean noodles were so good. Honestly, when I picked up my order, I thought it was going to be bad, but it taste much better than any photo can make it look. The sweet and sour pork wasn't on the menu, from what I could see, but if you ask them, they'll make it. It was a little different from what I was used to, but the flavors were still there. As a Korean, this dish is really bad. Please don't think this is a traditional taste of Jjajang & Jjamppong. Jjajang noodle tastes like a packed product. Also, the sweet and sour pork too mushly, so it doesn't taste like eating fried food..... There service is also very unhappy too. read more

When Austin needed a good jjajjangmyeon place the most, Paik's came and delivered (almost). Paik's is a popular Korean-Chinese cuisine chain that finally made its way to the H Mart food court. It's a very simple menu and straight forward. Jjajjangmyeon came with no surprises. Solid bowl but definitely on the sweeter end. Filling portions. It's been so long since I had it in Austin that I made the rookie mistake of splattering the sauce on my shirt. The tangsuyuk was great as well. By default, it comes with the sauce on it so if you're a dipper like me, you might want to ask if you can get the sauce separate. Not sure if they do that though but it'd be nice. The pork was good although the batter had a mochi texture to it and not crispy at all. I couldn't tell if that was on purpose or not but wasn't a huge fan of that texture. It's the most expensive item and didn't seem like a lot portion wise. But it's enough for a satisfying mean couple with a noodle dish. They currently do not do to-go orders. And honestly a step up from the previous Korean-Chinese restaurant that had occupied this space. read more

I was hungry for a big bowl of noodles and Paik's noodles hit the spot. The jjamppong noodles hit the spot with mussels, calamari, and shrimp. The bowl was huge and you would need to have a big appetite for two to finish the entire bowl. There are about 4-6 mussels but a few of them were unopened and given the price point, it is kind of expected. The shrimp was just ok maybe a little overcooked. The calamari bits were nice and tender and the legs of the calamari were a nice texture. Other reviews said the soup was spicy but it wasn't spicy to me at all. I think the soup had a nice flavor that wasn't all red pepper taste with a mild seafood broth - so those sensitive to strong seafood smells wouldn't be too offended. This place is in the 5th stage of its pre-menu so definitely there are refinements from the other reviews as you can now specify the spice level if you want it spicier. You can get this dish with rice and noodles and I opted for the noodles as I would think this is their specialty. The noodles were cooked perfectly. 1 of these bowls will set you back about $11 and some change. Not too bad as they could easily charge $13+ for this bowl. I also went mid-afternoon and while service wasn't the friendliest it wasn't that bad; this is a food court anyways so I wouldn't expect 5-star service. read more

I ordered chicken fried rice. After receiving my food, I noticed the bottom of my dish covered in oil. I notified the gentlemen that was working as the cashier & he mentioned that it was normal. Asked the cashier a question, what vegetables come in their fried rice and his response was vegetables. I had to ask 3 times before he answered the question. The food was so-so. It is priced above average for the area. I don't have to return to this location to get good fried rice. This is a part of the H mart and has a nice atmosphere with food selections. I missed beef jjamppong that I had in Korea. When I order the beef jjamppong, the cashier ordered the wrong fried rice. I asked whether it is right before paying, and he said it is right. After paying it, he said he made a mistake. And he stared to encourage me to eat fried rice. I paid little more but I felt really bad because he seems like not respect customer at all. Great jajangmyon! The onions and meat were cooked perfectly, and the sauce had a good texture to coat the noodles and had a great savory flavor. Noodles were also cooked well and all of that mixed together really hit that saucy-noodles craving. It's pretty unfortunate that a pretty known Korean chain finally comes to Austin and pretty much fails to deliver in all aspects. This place is such a disappointment and it starts with their terrible unfriendly service at ordering. I had interactions with the owners and they almost seem annoyed and inconvenienced that you are giving them business. If you have tried Paik's at other locations, you would know that not only the prices are hyper inflated at this place but also all their items in their menu lack in flavor. Portions are significantly decreased as well. I don't understand how is it possible to make these dishes as bland as they are. read more
