Portion wise my mom and I had the combo + a seafood pancake and had leftovers for a small lunch for one person. Total was 70 something after tip. The seafood pancake I get why some folks had problems with it. It's different in texture than other places. I found it had a good crunch and had a good batter to seafood ratio; it's just not what you expect but I still found it tasty.

We went on a Friday around 6PM and had a 10 minute wait to get seated - the place itself is busy and by the time our name was called, there was a crowd of 10-15 people gathering in the waiting area. There is plenty of parking for the restaurant as it is located in a strip mall. Even though we went during a peak hour, the flow of traffic in and out of the mall was constant - fortunately leaving convenient spots open as soon as you pull in. Ambiance is nice, there are plenty of Chinese decorations, and there are tables and chairs in the style of rural China. If you don't want to order the big pot - they will bring you to a table where the pot is closed with a lid. Ordering is done through their QR code menu, and the servers will come by afterwards to double check your order before sending it to the kitchen. Do note, if you want to order the big iron pot, it takes about 20 minutes to prepare and heat up. I would budge about 30 minutes before your main entree is ready. We ordered the pig ear salad and beef brisket iron pot with flower rolls (花卷): Pig Ear Salad ($14) - Salad tasted pretty solid! The pig ear was crunchy and was thoroughly coated in the classic chili oil vinegar sauce. The taste was fragrant, and not too spicy - I would say people with a mild to moderate spice tolerance would really enjoy this dish. The cucumbers served as another crunch factor, but also as a refresh/palate cleanse. For the amount of salad you get, I think the price is fine. Beef Brisket Iron Pot ($65) - When the server brings this out, they will prepare the buns and stick them to the sides of the pot to also cook and heat up, and then start a 20 minute timer to heat your food up. Once the timer is done, you can dig in! The sauce/broth in the pot is delicious - I would describe it as minestrone with Chinese ingredients, it tastes like there is a tomatey base, but I think it is more attributed to peppers. It coats each each in the pot nicely so you get a flavorful bite each time. The brisket was very tender and just falls apart as you eat it, and everything is delicious with the buns. For everything you see here, it was able to comfortable feed 3 people - maybe even 4. It does lean pricier per person, but the experience is novel and you do get a decent amount of food. In comparison to the other Chinese food in the Bel red area, I'm happy Dongbei harvest opened as it gives more variety to the typical Chinese offerings in the area. I think I would revisit again if I'm ever in the mood for some Dongbei food!

The texture was crispy and the chicken was juicy. The ramen was pretty solid and the broth was very rich and flavorful. I appreciated that the food came pretty quickly after ordering. Santouka was a quick in and out for lunch. They also have special deals for students - ie discounts, free appetizers, free teas.

This one is completely different, being full service with a much larger, expanded menu. The interior is modern and the service snappy. I've only eaten ramen at Santouka before, but they were advertising katsu curry as the summer special, necessitating me to order that instead given my love for the dish. Tonkatsu Curry ($17.50) - The rice seems to be a higher quality short grain, with a superior mouthfeel as compared to typical Nishiki or Calrose medium-grain rice used by most Japanese restaurants in the US. In this case, however, it's cooked with a little too much water, rendering the rice mushier than expected. The curry is not good at all, almost offensively so. It's thin and watery, with as dilute of a curry spiced flavor as possible. It's like a gritty and unpleasant apple sauce in mouthfeel - in fact, my guess is that they do grate a ton of unripe apple into the curry. So much that it gives bitter tartness to the dish, but not any apple flavor or sweetness. Bizarre. The tonkatsu is decent. It's thinly pounded, relatively crisp on the exterior, and is tender with no tough or fatty bits inside. They drizzle it with tonkatsu sauce which doesn't go well with the curry in my opinion. Although given how flavorless the curry soup is, it might actually be needed here just to boost the flavors up somewhat. On top of the rice,, they include a slice of narutomaki, two slightly fried pieces of red bell pepper and an entire ramen egg, cut in half. The egg is tender but with both yolk and white completely set. It's a very interesting choice in toppings - not typically found in katsu curry dishes. It gives the dish a ramen fusion type of feeling, as befitting of a ramen shop. (2/5) The curry was genuinely one of the worst I've ever eaten at a restaurant. For food, we got egg tarts, turnip cakes, soup dumplings, bean curd rolls, egg lava buns, pork ribs, bbq pork bun, and Chinese donut wrapped in rice roll. Overall, it was not bad. I liked the ribs, the bean curd rolls, and the soup dumplings. Good flavors and good textures. Lava buns were really good too. I read a different review saying it was flavorless goo, but that wasn't my experience at all. Turnip cakes, egg tarts, and the pork buns were okay. Turnip cake had a good texture, but was missing a little something (maybe dipping sauce?). Egg tarts had a super delicious smooth filling, but I'm not a fan of cookie crust. Would've been perfect with the flaky crust instead. Bbq pork buns were not amazing; felt like the pork didn't have enough flavor. But also not bad. The Chinese donut wrapped in rice roll was my disappointment of the meal :c they wrap 2 donuts into one, so the proportion of donut to rice roll is uneven. And the donuts they use are super doughy and fat, not crunchy at all. Also would've liked a hoisin or peanut sauce instead of just the soy sauce. Overall, okay spot. Food is definitely on the pricey side, but I guess that's to be expected. The dimsum itself is kinda average. Tea is really good, service is amazing.
