The best Friday night dinner! We loved everything, but raved about the burger! It was perfectly cooked, fresh, flavorful, and juicy!! And the pickled green tomato a perfect condiment! We practically licked clean the goat cheese fondue, and delighted in the clams! Our server provided excellent descriptions and recommendations and was warm and friendly! In fact, everyone was helpful and friendly, even seating us earlier than our reservation. I can still taste the juicy burger!! I don't know if other recent reviewers had off-nights, but this is the Palace Kitchen even better than before!! read more

I came here solo on a Thursday night. I got seated at the bar immediately. They have a pretty good beer selection and I got one of the pumpkin cider. Now the food: Mussels with dirty rice: the mussels was fresh and the dirty rice was ok. It was a bit watery so the rice was rather bland. The mussels themselves were good though. Ravioli: these were tiny but awesome. The cheese and skin were tasty. They were packed pork and the sauce worked. Overall, solid but nothing to write home about. It's a bit on the expensive side especially with the included 20% tips. Why not just increase the price and make it a non-tip restaurant? read more

I want to love palace kitchen again. This was one of our favorite spots. And yet - a $500 dollar dinner was a disappointment on many levels. The portions were smaller and there were several dishes that were just lackluster. We told the server and she seemed unimpressed with the review. Oh well. Still a great atmosphere. read more

Wow!!! Had an amazing experience here on 10/3/24. The ambiance and the food was amazing but the highlight of the evening was our server Chelsea. She was so personable and knowledgeable about the menu, and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great evening. 3.5 stars After spending a day out in Bonney Lake, we decided to check this place out for some dinner. It was on my list of places to try out and I was feeling like a burger. Both my wife and I got the burger. I got mine with Beechers cheese and bacon. My wife got hers with bacon. She ordered a strawberry lemonade iced tea and I had a Coke. We got a slice of coconut cream pie for dessert. Here is how things shook out............ Burger- The burger was great. It was cooked perfectly medium, the bacon was large and thick and the Beechers cheese was out of this freaking world. That was some of the best cheese I have tasted. The only knock on the burger was the bun. It started to disintegrate and it was messy as hell to eat. It was definitely in my top 10 burgers I have had. If it had a better bun, it would be top 5. My wife didn't enjoy hers as much. She only ate like half of it and gave me the rest to clean up ;-). This burger also comes with a small army of fries. The fries were real tasty but they kind of got cold fast and hardened up. We mowed through as many as we could but still left a pile of them sitting there. They sure do give you a lot of them. Coconut Cream Pie- This slice was really good. It did not have much crust on it though. It was a tad odd. The flavor though was top notch. Tons and tons of toasted coconut and cream. $9 for a slice of pie though is REAL STEEP. Strawberry Lemonade- Very delicious but not $6.00 delicious. Coke- $2.00 or $3.00 with free refills. Fair enough and Coke is the best. Total for dinner after tip, and parking across the street came out to $71.00. That is way too much for 2 burgers, 2 drinks and a slice of pie. Everything was good but not $71.00 good. I always want to try to see if a burger can taste better than Peter Lugers....I'm still looking ;-). The Palace Burger is a good/great one but not worth the price IMO. One other thing....its open window seating so it can get a little chilly. I had to run across the street to get a jacket for my wife. I saw other people putting on their jackets too while eating.....if you get cold easily, bring a jacket....just an fyi. One last thing.........I do have to say that the service was AWESOME! The hostess was nice and friendly and promptly came outside to get us when our table was ready. Our waiter was super chill and on top of everything. He impressed the hell out of me too. At the end of our meal, I pushed my plate forward a little and knocked on the table while looking at my wife to signify that I was done/tapping out. He was standing nearby and I didn't even see him looking at me and he goes "You tapping out?" He knew the signal for tapping out when you are full. I guarantee 99% of servers out there would not have made that comment/known what I was doing. He picked up on that and I give him mad props. He was awesome and made the meal enjoyable. read more

My first night in downtown Seattle was spent hopelessly wandering up and down 5th Avenue in search of a Cheesecake Factory, which was the only nearby restaurant that wasn't a diner and open late, when suddenly I was spanked by serendipity and the bf suggested we dine in what appeared to be a dimly-lit bar with well-dressed patrons inside, which could only mean one thing: PRICEYYY. Considering that I was down-dressed in sweats, a track jacket, and Chucks, I was a bit hesitant about walking in, but what the hell, it was midnight, Cheesecake Factory was about 5 blocks in the wrong direction, the doors were wide open, and the most inviting aromas were emanating from inside. Expecting to be accosted with disapproving stares, I walked in behind the bf and attempted to blend in with the dark walls. It worked! Or more like no one seemed to care what I was wearing as I quickly learned this place was a casual/borderline dressy joint! Woo! The menu was simple, with only a handful of hearty entree items to choose from, including the Washington chicken and the whole trout, which we ordered. This place is much more than a late-night bar and the food certainly boasts respect as such. The chicken was a huge half-slab of roasted chicken accompanied by a sweet spicy salad of nectarines and spicy peppers. The whole trout the bf ordered was also tasty, bathed in olive oil, rosemary, and lemon and filleted for us at the table. Both meals came with sweet green beans and roasted baby potatoes. More than enough food for two, but so delicious we thought we'd push our luck and try their "World Famous" creme caramel. Because, um, it's WORLD FAMOUS? Smoother and creamier than any flan/creme brulee I'd ever tasted...it has now become the standard upon which I shall base all subsequent custard desserts! Service was excellent, our waitress was personable and honest, and the atmosphere a bit rowdy and playful by the bar and romantic at the candle-lit tables. Palace Kitchen completed the Tom Douglas trifecta for me along with Lola and Dahlia (saving Serious Pie, Etta's for a future trip). Craft cocktails are well-made - Dark & Stormy features house-made ginger puree (serious kick), Rosemary's Baby (gin/grapefruit/rosemary infusion) was very refreshing. Would want to try Cherry Blossom (gin/lime juice/cherry/float of sparkling). Penn Cove fire-roasted clams - SO good. Rogers Pilsner & apple base is like no other clam preparation I've ever had. Served with a cone of delicate frites. Cayenne-spiked crispy pig ear - had expected bold flavor w/a kick but was surprisingly underwhelmed, finding the pig ear rather bland. Honeycrisp apple sauce is the true hero of this dish. Dim-lit atmosphere in rich red tones makes for a great wintry spot. As with Seattle restos' unanimous, magnanimous belief in happy hr, Palace Kitchen is no exception, hosting Monday-Friday 4:30 to 6pm Sunday-Thursday 11pm-1am. I have been here several times through the years and always a great place to go for burgers and pie. This time, I came after a movie at the Cinerama. This is a great comfort food place where all the food is good. We started with the goat cheese fondue. This is a simple dish, but simply delicious and the cheese matches so nicely with the fruit, just a great appetizer. At other times, I have had the pork belly and the brussel sprouts--which are also a good way to start a meal. Next, I had the Palace Burger Royale, I am sure they have many other good dishes here, but every time I come I seem to order this. It is one of the best burgers I have every had, just wonderful. The meat is fantastic and the bun is just perfect. We did not have dessert this time, but they always have really nice cheese selections. Then like other Tom Douglas restaurants they also have that great triple coconut cream pie. read more

So my gf takes me out and we are meeting up with her friends so we go first to this foofy "everything is marinated in cheap vinegar" tapas bs bar and I want to projectile vomit my pelvis just to escape. There is nothing of any size or substantial protein so I choose Palace kitchen and once we arrive the fun begins. The tables are large and seats comfortable. The menu is simple and elegant layouts highlight a few dishes. I order the burger with cheese and bacon, her date does the same and we devour the food when it comes and the fries are still ok. So the fries, what the fuck is up with limp as fuck fries that while tasty... can't you cook them so they have some stiffness? They are ok, good and edible yes. But I'm having a hard time eating lumpy fries. The coconut cream pie is beyond good. You would have to leave earth on one of Jeff B's rockets then look back and they are still the best coconut cream pie I've ever had. Then I realize they cheat and use dahlia bakery pies and I forgive Mr. Douglas but still request the fries be "unlimpified" So Palace Kitchen has been a solid choice of a restaurant for what seems like decades. The fries could probably have been served to my plate and have cockroaches crawl out of them and I would be like "oh let's flick you away so I can devour this burger" TD restaurants have good food, excellent staff and I fucking love how polite and hesitant they are to avoid you bumping them it makes me feel special. My water glass was constantly being refilled and my date was playing a eukalalee while we were playing "cards against humanity" on my phone. We had to be quiet-er because somebody brought kids to the restaurant. People do not bring your kids to restaurant after 9 o'clock at night those kids need to be home in bed. No I don't care if it was somebody's birthday anniversary whatever any kids under 10 needs to be in bed after 10. I don't want to have to go to a restaurant center myself because there's some little Tommy at the table next-door whose parents didn't know how to plan for going into the city. We will soon be back. The burger ingredients needs some love, more grease, less dried burger meat and more flavor oomph. Maybe marinate the patty or do something. Four stars for my burger, six stars for service and six for environment. read more

Expensive and underwhelming. Squash fritters tasted like greasy hush puppies. Burger, at $24, was forgettable (dry bun/meat) and extremely overpriced. Also, at that price and this caliber of place, the kitchen should be able to cook to temp, but was told the kitchen likes to cook it medium. Best part were the fries. Black cod was OK, but the crispy skin was salted to the point of being inedible. Service was good, ambiance as always is great. A stone's throw from Westin and it had something for everyone in our party of four. Servings were decently large. I had the whole rainbow trout which they helped deboned on the spot. Started with Cauliflower appetizer, never ate such a simple vegetable dish yet it was delicious, crispy yet tender. Ordered a Spring thyme. Perfect blend of whiskey and herb. I ordered the NY Strip Steak, the herb butter melted perfectly off the top of my med rare steak, whipped potatoes and collard greens that were cooked to perfection, my dish had this sauce that gave everything even more flavor. Ate dinner at this Tom Douglas establishment for our first evening this trip in Seattle. The space itself is quite large, a bit on the dark side, with the kitchen in the back and a large painting on one wall. Our waitress was bubbly, outgoing, and a bit chatty. She helped us with our wine selection which was a new offering and very tasty. The lovely K ordered the applewood smoked chicken with mashed potatoes and veg. The chicken was very moist and quite yummy a testament to the rotisserie cooking method. I had the pork loin with kielbasa, sauerkraut and spaetzle. I found the pork to be a bit on the dry side, and there was not nearly enough spaetzle, the only carb on the plate. There was also no veg, unless sauerkraut has all of a sudden been deemed a vegetable. That all said it was what we expected, if a bit on the pricey side. I came here several times over the course of business trip, because the food, service and atmosphere was excellent and there was so much on the menu I wanted to try. Everything I ordered was delicious, but the pork salad was over the top yummy. Happy hour is a terrific value, get to the bar early-ish to get a seat at the bar. So I thought Palace Kitchen was just okay. My brother and I came here late at night during our trip to Seattle because he was craving for a burger. We yelped this place and it was opened late and it had good ratings. My brother ordered the burger and he said it was good but not the best. As for I.. I ordered just an appetizer which were the meatballs. They were pretty okay.. nothing special unfortunately. I had asked our server if it was possible to just get a side of some kind of salad but they didn't offer a small side salad of any kind.. I was disappointed.. so I also ended up ordering a large salad.. I needed my greens! The salad was good but over dressed. Our server was amazing though. This place was recommended by our Seattle area friends, for dinner, before a concert. There weren't many patrons when we showed up, but the place filled up quickly. Waitress was friendly with a hint of attitude. Which matched up perfectly with the funky menu descriptions and the old skool M.C. Hammer era music. DH and I started off sharing a Perfect Pear cocktail (clear creek pear brandy, cointreau, and lime with a sugared rim). It was delicious and quite strong. I had been seriously overeating during my entire trip already, so I decided to get something light, like the warm beet salad. It was truly scrumptious. The beets were perfectly cooked, nice and tender, and the yogurt sauce provided some tartness. I think the other sauce was pistachio based, but I can't remember. One of our friends got the same thing. It was one of her favorites. She was leaving room for coconut cream pie! I thought I could have some of DH's dish, but he was loathe to share. His dish was a pork-fest: pig ears, smoked bacon, and pork loin. It came with blue grits and chanterelles. Very rich dish with a very rich sauce. It didn't have any off-beat flavors. Our other friend was not worried about over-eating. He got the Palace Burger Royale, which is 1/2 pound of chuck with a pile of delicious, crispy fries. We finished our meal with lots of dessert. I had to get my own slice of Dahlia Bakery coconut cream pie because our friend was NOT about to share any of hers! Which is just as well, since it was amazing. And I don't usually get coconut cream pie. This one is covered with a thick layer of white chocolate slivers and toasted coconut. The filling is packed with coconut flavor, however, not too sweet. The topping provided nice balance. The crust was crunchy. Yes, it's $9, but it is a massive slice of pie. I can't remember what the other dessert was, but it wasn't what we expected. A tiny cake with a side of ice cream. Just get the pie! ;) Our friends picked up the tab, so I can't really comment on the price. A good place with a fun, quirky vibe and solid food. read more

We got the pork loins and NY strip steak and a drink. The pork loins was the better of the two dishes. For a $38 steak I was less than impressed. I had asked for medium rare and when I cut (sawed) into my steak it was well done. I called the waitress over and she had both of the entrees remade. It was medium rare the 2nd time around but after that mishap we had to wait another 15 minutes for our food and while she apologized she didn't offer us some bread to munch on or anything while we waited. That would have been an inexpensive but nice gesture on their part. The pork loins were tender but I did not like the sausage on top, it was not flavorful and do you really need sausage when you're already eating slices of pork? The steak itself, while medium rare, was strangely still tough and not very flavorful. The giant pat of butter on top didn't do much for the steak either and after trying it I brushed it to the side. After this experience I would not trust a Tom Douglas restaurant to do steak properly so order carefully. read more

YUM! This was a gem that we just happened upon as it was the only place in the area with an open table for dinner on a Thursday evening. We shared some small dishes and were BLOWN AWAY by the incredible flavors that hit our mouths. We went here for our New Years Eve dinner and were not disappointed. The food was fun with plenty of options to choose from and the cocktails were to die for! We'd reserved a reservation through OpenTable, and were seated immediately upon arrival. The environment is dark and warm. Our waitress was friendly. Food was DELICIOUS!! I reduced by 1 star because of a couple things - I never received my 2nd drink (but was not billed for it, so it's ok), but also - the restaurant is so dark that I couldn't read the menu without turning my phone's flashlight on. A restaurant this dark should offer the pen-style flashlights with the menus so people don't have to struggle so hard to read it. If I could give this amazing establishment 10 stars I would. I haven't been to Seattle in a loooong time and this place came up on my radar when I googled "where do chefs eat Seattle". They were NOT wrong! Everything about this place is incredible. The vibe is trendy but not pretentious, the food is innovative and technically sound, but the Staff....I can't say enough about how wonderful our Server Zoey was. She MADE our night.
