I've eaten here a handful of times, and the breakfast burrito with bacon & green chile never fails to hit the spot. It is very good, and in retrospect, right on par with that of Tia Sophia's & Pantry Rio. Also, it's so filling that it's enough to keep you satisfied until late dinner. The cafe is cute, with brick floors and large wooden ceiling vigas. The walls are painted a vibrant yellow and morning or afternoon sunlight makes for an even prettier scene. I think I prefer takeout to dining in, though, because the two times I've dined in, the service has been inattentive and extremely slow. The place was very small and jam-packed. There was a ten minute wait for lunch, nothing unreasonable. Everything was very affordable. However, service wasn't particularly friendly or attentive during the lunch rush. The wait for food was very long. All was forgiven when I took my first bite of my panini. I had the TKY with green chile added ($8.50). It was hands-down the best sandwich of my life. The bread: extraordinarily crisp. The turkey: lean and fresh. The chile sealed the deal. The sandwich was spicy, sweet, moist, and crispy: a mouthwatering experience. I ordered a whole sandwich and finished it (of course), but I was already full after half. It's huge. Somehow was able to fit in a big helpin' of flan ($5) at the end. First time ever trying it and it was quite good. A nice end to a delicious meal! What a fantastic little find just off the plaza in Santa Fe. It's not down in the middle of the touristy madness, so you can find a parking spot fairly close. The cafe is pretty small inside but we were seated right away. One waiter seemed to be working the whole place by himself. We ordered the pear salad, which was a perfect combination of field greens, cubes fresh pears and candied pecans (cinnamon) served with a balsamic vinaigrette. Like, three waiters walked past is and didn't say a word. Finally the gentleman who seated us asked if someone had taken our order almost a half hour in. No one had. After we ordered, it didn't matter what sauce we requested because the meats had already been cooked in the hotter sauce. The tamales I got we're obviously reheated, dry and the beef inside was like cardboard. Visited for lunch on 12/23/21. First family trip to Santa Fe and after researching for an authentic New Mexican restaurant near the historic center, we were looking forward to eating at Palacio Cafe after all of the favorable reviews. We were quoted a 20 min wait when we called ahead. But Lady Luck seemed to be on our side! After grabbing a parking spot across the street and getting seated immediately, we were feeling pretty jolly! Unfortunately, the luck seemed to run out there. After expeditiously seating us, it took another 10 min for a waiter to check in with us. Said male waiter stared at me blankly when I ordered a "jamaica" agua fresca ("We have hibiscus"). I brushed it off seeing as how I shouldn't assume everyone knows the Spanish terms for their items. After putting our order in, 50 minutes pass by (I could tell thanks to the parking meter app) and no food/water refills, no check in from any waitstaff, no nothing. With members of our party seething in their seats from the neglect, finally: Me to male waiter: "Hi, I just want to follow up on our order" Waiter (quizzically, annoyed): "What?" Me: "Um it's been nearly an hour, I just wanted to follow up on our food?" Waiter (curt and peeved): "There's a lot of tickets before yours. That's just how long it's gonna take. Your food will come out when it comes out." We were aghast. I have never been answered with such rudeness by a waiter. My dad wanted to get up and hurt the guy. I get that the restaurant is busy and ultimately the food will come out when it will but I've also had it happen that tickets get mixed up. A simple, kind, "Sorry, let me go check on it" would have sufficed. Thankfully, the food came out a few minutes later. We just ate as quickly as possible so I could get the angry members of our party out of there. Honestly, with how off-putting that server was, everything just tasted alright. We had better New Mexican food at other places on our trip. Will probably tell people to avoid this place if they can. read more

We ordered and watched several tables after we arrived ordered and served.After 45 minutes we asked if they lost our order.
