I came here for a quick bite to eat and was pleasantly surprised. I had the Palermo Gambas, which I've never had before but heard about on some social media site and the spaghetti bolognese. (I think that's what this was. It had fettuccine noodles so I apologize if I'm incorrect.) Both were equally delicious and the atmosphere was classic Ballard. The service was quick and friendly and the cream sauces were delicious. Normally cream sauces are quite heavy but this had a nice fluidity to me. Not too heavy but not thin. We did takeout for this order on a Monday evening, and it only took 20 minutes! The pizza was fresh but a little too salty for my taste, so the salad balanced that out. Their salad ingredients were super fresh. The garlic bread pieces are huge, couldn't taste the strong garlic flavor (which I like) but it was still good with the marinara sauce. My favorite was the pasta! I highly recommend!! I want to try all their other pastas on the menu after trying this one out. My husband and I love this place. I have eaten pasta here and loved it My favorite is the pizza. We always have a Canadian bacon, black olive and mushroom pizza (special order) the Italian salad and a bottle of wine. I think of myself as a pizza connoisseur. This time I got the beef gyro, which I don't actually recommend. The meat was squishy and flavorless. Everything else about it was good, though. The pita bread was especially soft and fresh. The pizza is beyond excellent. I had to push it away, certain I'd wolf down the whole thing. The standard Italian dishes are a little uneven. For example, the chicken marsala was perfect. The carbonara a little watery, an important point since the texture of the sauce is critical to the definition of a well-executed carbonara. The service is always wonderful. We really just loved this place! The staff hustled and were so welcoming and warm, and the food was outstanding. One in our party is on a restricted diet, and they accommodated her order without issue. The food is very thoughtfully prepared, the portions are more than generous, and they just seem genuinely happy to be serving people this delicious food. They never rushed us, even though we were the last table of the evening. You might be tempted to overlook this place, as there are a lot of trendy spots in the vicinity, but I'll share the adage, "Don't judge a book by its cover". The place has a pretty plain/almost strip mall restaurant appearance from the outside, but it's cute inside and the food is so worth a visit. I hope they add even strand or two of string lights to help draw some attention to the place, because they're really great here and we couldn't get over the appeal of the mom and pop vibe. Delivery is free (I think over $15), and reasonably fast. I'm a long time customer of Palermo. We've had our ups and downs. I've had a lot of local pizza, especially during the pandemic, and I've only not ordered from Palermo because my husband is not as much of a fan as I am. I realized today, when I needed pizza for lunch, that Palermo was the perfect answer. I got their Sicilian special 10", and it was delicious! I think the reason I like Palermo is that they've got a good amount of sauce on their pie, along side their chewy crust and good amount of toasty cheese. Their ordering system has been refined since I last got it, easy to order delivery online direct, and none of that credit-card info on the receipt! The wine was good. The service...we ordered drinks eventually when she came to get the food order. Overall the place has potential. And by potential I mean we got the Linguini Special and the Chicken Alfredo and there was no flavor to either dish. We dumped as much table spices (parm, chili, oregano, salt, pepper) as we could and it was not good. I knew I could doctor it up into something edible for my money, so it had potential, and got it to go. Looks great, no taste. I could only eat about half of it. It wasn't too busy on a Monday night, and they had plenty of space for my whole party with no problem (we had 5 in our party). Picked up some takeout from here for a relaxing home dinner on our recent Seattle trip. The Classico meat pizza was very much American-style - thicker crust and tasty albeit crazy dense. It's not often I start feeling full after just one slice. This was quickly outshone by some creamy, derricious fettuccini carbonara. The pappardelle al pesto, however, was surprisingly overcooked and one-note in flavor. On the upside, portions were gargantuan and we barely made it through half our of dishes. Overall, a decent spot for Italian that leaned a little too far towards run-of-the-mill Italian American "red sauce" fare. read more

Very warm friendly establishment on Market street and close to the core of Ballard evening hot spots. The atmosphere is cozy & family friendly or even for a dates Ta a positive vibe. All that's missing is a giant melted candle for ambiance. As for the food well all the salads are enough for 2 people so plenty of ruffage. My go to pizza is The Palermo Special. And blend of spices on a Amazing thin crust, sauce cheese and meats and olives. Something so tasty you wanna order a size larger for the next day. The food was fabulous the service was great, our server was very attentive and helpful in making sure we chose the best dishes to our liking! Every dish we ordered came out perfectly and very quickly...we ordered a shrimp and chicken fettuccine (Fettuccine con pollo and Linguini con frutti di mare) which were very flavorful and authentic tasting. Hubby got the seafood pasta aka Penne alla vodka with seafood which was also amazing lots of seafood in a creamy tomato sauce...my mom who was also with us go the Linguini special which was perfect for her! Now the most wonderful dish was mine it was the Lamb Papperdelle and if you like lamb you will absolutely love this dish... it was so unique with many different flavors that went with the lamb but it all worked together to make the most amazing experience! Update 06/20/21 I wrote that review above about 2 years ago now and have since been here twice this day and once during covid take out only period....all I can say is nothing changed we called ahead as we were traveling from Puyallup and it was going to take us an hour they put our name down and when we got there our table was already set up with waters menus and tableware...I definitely noticed that! Lots of tender, moist lamb and pasta with basil, Kalamata olives, goat cheese and sundried tomatoes, all proportioned well to compliment each other. Their pizza's are great as is their meat lasagna. The food is mouth watering & absolutely exceptional. We got the Caprese salad & Chicken Marsala to share. Mmmm mmmm delish! Chicken Marsala was made in a rich wine sauce with lots of mushrooms and on a bed of linguine. The Caprese salad was huge and just exceptional. Service was good, albeit at times a bit slow. But our server helped out quite a bit and took that extra step (such as bringing out an extra plate since we were sharing our meal & stuff) and getting us a bag for our to-go boxes. Came here for lunch with a friend yesterday for the first time. I was pleased to see there was a nice lunch menu. We ordered the mini pizza which is I believe $8.50 and you can choose two toppings. We chose mushrooms and pepperoni (YUM!) It also comes with the soup of the day or salad. We also got the chicken fetuccine alfredo ($10.50) which also comes with your choice of the soup or salad. Since we were sharing, we ordered both a soup and a salad. The soup of the day was chicken noodle. I was actually really impressed with the soup. I loved how thick the noddle was and the flavor of the broth was really good. The noodle was the perfect texture! The pizza was way smaller than we thought it would be, it was really yummy though. The fetuccine alfredo tasted pretty mediocre, no complaints. The two breadsticks it came with was really good.. nice crunch and yummy garlic flavor. They have happy hour which is nice, I might come again during those times. They also serve breakfast all day! The food was good but I wasn't blown away. read more

I live pretty close to this place, so I ordered take-out a few weeks ago. I got the Red Goat pizza and a side order of garlic bread. The pizza is maybe a tad pricey, but this is Ballard, so not really that unusual. The pizza tasted great, although it was visually deceptive; it looked like there were almost no toppings on it, but it seems like they either added a second partial coat of cheese or it just happened to melt over most of the vegetables. Either way, it was pretty flavourful for what is basically a three-topping pizza. Without going into too much detail...my stomach did not seem to enjoy the pizza as much as my tongue did. I didn't get food poisoning, but it was an uncomfortable next 24 hours or so, which is odd because it's a simple ingredient pizza filled with things that I normally eat; I was not being adventurous for sure. I'll just leave it at that. The garlic bread was nothing to write home about; anyone could make it themselves with a load of french bread and some butter. The marinara was also nothing remarkable. They have a ton of menu options though, including a lot of non-pizza options, so there's a good chance they'll have something for everyone. read more
