Fairly average Italian food with decent service and an inoffensive environment. I have visited Palermo several times and each time is fine, but no aspect is excellent. The food is hit or miss; I have had several dishes that were pretty good and well seasoned, but also several bland dishes. My friend has warned me against the pizza, so I have yet to try it. The service is not great, not bad. I have had one very inattentive sever and several nice servers, but none of them seem particularly happy to serve you. They do have $3 a glass wine on Tuesdays and Thursdays (I believe those are the correct days) which is a plus. read more

Had dinner for the first time here tonight and it was great. Our server greeted us and took our drink orders promptly, and our food arrived much faster than we had anticipated. The pizza was fantastic, I got the Palermo special and it was the perfect combination of topping flavors, rich cheese and perfectly cooked crust. The menu variety was a little shocking for such a small place, I was pleasantly surprised by how many options I could pick from. I will have to come back to try some of the specials that our server suggested, they all sounded delicious but tonight we were in the mood for pizza. The only downside to our visit was something a few members of our party witnessed. We noticed a young woman eating in the back of house in full view of the restaurant. I'm not sure what her role was, for the most part she was simply standing around talking with other employees and eating from what I saw, but regardless it was pretty off-putting to see what appeared to be an employee eating in the back of house where guests could see her. It made me wonder what the standards for that sort of thing in Palermo's back of house were. Having worked in restaurants for a while I'm assuming that this was a one time mistake that doesn't happen frequently, as I know there are usually strict rules about not eating where guests can see you. I hope that the employee is talked to about the behavior! Other than that one negative experience, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. read more

This restaurant and food have a very homey vibe to it and I love it! Ordered the cheese bread, baked cauliflower, linguini special, Penne Alla Vodka With Seafood, lentil soup, and a chocolate cannoli. Cheese Bread- It's simple, but delicious. Cheese on top of garlic bread and a side of warm marinara. Delicious. Baked Cauliflower- Tastes almost like Alfredo sauce, but maybe a little bit cheesier, mixed with the cauliflower and some red onions, with a side of pita bread triangles. Surprisingly delicious! Linguini Special- Light sauce, as it's a lemon sauce, with artichoke hearts and chicken. This might be a strange thing to dislike, but there was more chicken and artichoke hearts than there were noodles. In this type of dish, I definitely would have preferred more noodles with the sauce than the toppings. Overall, the dish tasted great. Penne Alla Vodka With Seafood- Noodles we're fully covered in sauce (which is great!), and the seafood taste wasn't too overwhelming. I substituted the penne noodles for linguine noodles and did not regret it. Personally not a fan of penne pasta, so it made the dish better in my opinion using the linguine. Lentil soup- A little on the under seasoned side. The broth itself was seasoned okay, but when you have a mouth full of lentils and start to chew, it lacks salt. Easy fix with a little more salt and a little pepper. Chocolate Cannoli- Rich dessert, they definitely are NOT stingy on the ricotta cheese filling. I personally enjoyed it, but would suggest splitting it with someone as it's rather large. Or.. hats off to you if you can finish a whole one by yourself. read more

We absolutely love everything about Palermo. We come here at least once a month for dinner and bring family and friends here when they visit. All of the waitresses are amazing and very attentive. The second you walk in, you feel like you're at home. Its the perfect place to go for a nice quiet dinner with a Glass of wine. They are consistently busy and we always see a lot of take out orders. That doesn't stop them from serving delicious food quickly. Our favorite dishes here is their chicken Marsala, Caesar salad, and the Palermo special pizza. I can't forget about their Tiramisu, it was fresh, light, and fluffy! They serve brunch, lunch, and dinner. They have great lunch specials a soup or salad with an half a sandwich for $7.50! They do have one TV that is usually on the sports channel. They have a variety of wine, but also give you the option to bring in your own with a corking fee. I am practically in tears. You know how food can completely change the course of your entire day? No? That's just me? Okay. I ordered through Eat 24/7 using a coupon code. I was drawn to the fact that Palermo serves breakfast all day and has a very low delivery minimum ($10). When you are ordering food solo, $20 can be pretty hard to hit, not to mention more than I would like to spend on lunch before tip and delivery charge. I chose the antipasto frittata, which comes with toast, and a side of bacon extra crispy. In a mere 30 minutes, despite Eat 24/7 telling me it would be 45 to 60 minutes, my food shows up. I was a little sad the bacon was wrapped tightly in foil, thus taking away some of that crispness, but I can't imagine another way to transport it. If I'd ordered it in-house it would have been perfect. The whole wheat toast is a slice like you'd buy in the grocery store and make a sandwich on (Franz? Sara Lee?) but they packed me a teeny container of butter and delicious (dare I say homemade) raspberry jam for it. The eggs were amazing. Pesto, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and two kinds of cheese. HUGE. Heaven. The breakfast also came with a side of homefries, which were delicious and also a big serving. I would have loved to know this ahead of time, although it is probably either Eat 24's mistake or mine, because I love sriracha and ketchup on my potatoes, but even plain these were darn good. All in all after delivery charge and tax, my order was $13. I did have a coupon, like I mentioned, so it would have been $18 before coupon and after 20% tip. Score! Service can be hit or miss here. The first few times our server was not exactly...present would be the word I would use. And we were the ONLY people in the restaurant. Now service has improved, but not much the few other times I've been through. Aside from the service, the food is also mediocre. I've had the spaghetti with meatballs, because I figure you can't mess that up too much and I've had the Fettuccini con Pollo, too. The spaghetti is actually OK, nothing fantastic, but it is above canned spaghetti. Now the Fettuccini con Pollo was rich, creamy and flavorful, but some of the chicken was dry. The portions are huge (even for lunch). And I've always ordered the soup as an accompaniment, now the soups are pretty tasty. Maybe next time I'll just order a bowl of soup for my lunch... read more

Had a craving for pizza while visiting Golden garden in Ballard! Was lucky enough to find a parking along Market street and Palermo Pizza and Pasta was just across. Ordered the Palermo Gambas, Palermo house special pizza. The pizza was did not disappoint! The shrimp gambas was excellent as well. I ordered the Fettuccine Con Pollo and asked for spinach to be added- certainly wasn't disappointed. I love the way they added the fresh spinach. Instead of boiling it down with the Alfredo Sauce, they laid a fresh bed of spinach at the bottom of my plate and then added the entree on top. The heat and moisture from the pasta naturally made the spinach wilt slightly and it provided a much better texture and taste than if they had cooked the spinach in the pasta. Great flavor- not overbearingly rich, so it didn't upset my stomach later My husband ordered the BBQ chicken calzone and was very impressed! This thing was huge- he could only finish half and ate the rest today- which he said was still good. For dessert I ordered the chocolate cannoli! Don't be fooled by the lack of mini chocolate chips in the filling. This baby has a chocolate shell, and a thick, solid chocolate ring on the inside that the filling sits in. Hands down one of the best I've eaten. *Tip-I always encourage table etiquette, however when I tried to cut off small pieces with a fork and knife I ended up blasting pieces of cannoli everywhere...this cannoli is best eaten by hand-barbarian style. read more

Had a recent fantastic lunch on Thursday, we had planned to go elsewhere but they were inexplicably closed, so we came to Palermo. Lovely, lovely woman server, very warm and friendly, excellent smells coming out of the kitchen, the dining decorated to the hilt with mostly tasteful knickknacks. Thursday happens to be 1/2 priced wine (also Tuesday!) so my buddy took advantage and had a gorgeous Valpolicella for a steal, really good. We had fresh, good-sized (almost dinner sized) salads before our meals, she a personal pizza and I had a delectable grilled vegetable/Mediterranean sandwich, perfectly sized, filling but not overwhelming. Both of our dishes were on the lunch menu, a steal at well under $10 each, I think they were $8, which is shocking, considering the quality. I will now make Palermo my go-to for weekday lunch, we had a delightful time. read more

This is my favorite place in Ballard for dinner comfort food. And what I mean by that is that, after a grueling day of work all I can think about is sitting down with Palermo's Chicken Caesar sandwich in front of me. Or, if I'm especially hungry, it'll be the Palermo's Special pizza. If it's pizza, you see, there's usually some left over for my lunch the following day. The food is delicious (if you have room after dinner, I recommend the tiramisu!) and the servers are super friendly and attentive. Gigi (from Bulgaria!) is particularly friendly, as is one other server who's name I do not know. Though I enjoy relaxing over dinner in their dining room, thank heavens they're still open during the COVID-19 global pandemic, for take-out orders and deliveries! They're super careful about cleanliness and social distancing and all that, and you can pick up your orders just outside the front door. There's another Palermo's on Capitol Hill in Seattle, and once while I was there someone tried to pick up their order in Ballard that they'd placed at Capitol Hill, so watch out for that. But if you're looking for a good meal in Ballard from some super friendly folks, give Palermo's a try! read more

We have ordered delivery twice from Palermo (never been in to the restaurant) and both times have been blown away by the quality of the food, the value for the price, and how fast their delivery is! Can't recommend highly enough. Meals are super reasonably priced, esp because each includes a salad and bread. For our family of two adults and one kid, we'll order two entrees and a side and eat at least two whole meals from what we get. Delivery is speedy and the food has arrived both times too hot to eat right away - super fresh. Spaghetti bolognese - delish, noodles perfectly cooked so even when you eat leftovers the next day, they're not too soft. Ravioli Aurora - OMG, the pink sauce is the perfect combo of creamy and zesty, not too gloopy or over the top rich. Delish. Our toddler eats all the mushrooms out of this one, because they're nice big slices :) ...honestly we can't wait to try even more. read more

Our hosts recommended grabbing some pizzas from Palermo so we called in the order and within the hour, returned with some lovely food. I ordered the insalata Caprese for myself. It was made with fresh tomatoes and fat slices of fresh mozzarella with a basil chiffonade. Collectively we selected a pair of pizzas to split between four people. We chose the Red Goat, a vegetarian pie with onions, roasted red peppers, and goat cheese. The other pizza was the Palermo Special - pepperoni, Canadian bacon, Italian sausage, mushrooms, and black olives. Both were quite good and I had a slice of each. I cannot comment on the service or the ambiance since we did takeaway. I'd definitely try them again to see if they could gain any more stars. read more
