Wonderful food and service at Palermo's. Get the stuffed banana peppers as they were so good!

I've been here a couple times and never got around to writing overview. Each experience of being here is never the same. Sometimes the service is really good and sometimes the service isn't so great. Same thing goes for the food. It's never consistent but when you're there on a good day, it really is worth the trip and other times it's just all right and that's okay. I really like coming here with my family to eat pizza. Their sauce is sweeter than regular pizza sauce. Palermo's different and the energy is very family friendly. Also, TRY THE CARROT CAKE!!! It's so good!

We had the Sicilian shrimp & Calamari, deep dish pizza, and tiramisu. The shrimp and calamari were very good with roasted bell peppers. Very fresh and tasty. The deep dish was very decadent in flavor. The sauce is definitely on the sweeter side though. I found myself adding some salt and Parmesan so it would tone down the sweetness a little, but I still really liked the pizza. I might just be used to more acidic sauces in general.... The tiramisu was decent. The best part was the plating. Very nice flavored cream and caramel drizzle came with. Overall, we're happy with our choice of deep dish while visiting the Chicago area!

My go to for a gluten free pizza. The gluten free pizza comes in a 10inch size. The crust is AMAZING. The Carey out window is easily accessible and has 15 min pick up parking in front.

The food and the ambience are superb! The first time I went there the service was excellent. It was a little bit more crowded today and our waitress was spread a little bit too thin but when she was at the table, she was very courteous and kind. There's nothing negative to say about the place. It is quaint. It is cozy. It is comfortable. The only thing that I have a negative about is the parking. It's difficult to find parking if there are a few families that have shown up in groups to have dinner there. Other than that an excellent experience try the tiramisu it's to die for.

The plates are ginormous and so you may want to order one and share it with your friends. But if you love to eat then by all means order a full plate. The pizzas are sooo soo delicious especially the sauce. I'm a big fan of the sauce so I like to order it with a little extra sauce. The place is very lovely and the service is top notch. Very helpful and kind service. The food is fresh and the meatballs are phenomenal.

Food was good with nice generous portions. I did take out food was fast especially for the crowd that was there. I would definitely go back the soup was nice to. Didn't care for the garlic gnocchi wasn't great.

Palermo's 95th is as old school as it gets and easily in my top 5 pizzas in Chicago. We had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza with spicy breaded chicken in Cool Ranch sauce and melty mozzarella, a classic sausage pizza (with the best sweet red sauce!), and tomato bruschetta. Everything was spot on from the crust to the sauce to the toppings. Service was great, the vibe is cozy and nostalgic, and you can tell this place has been doing it right for decades. If you want classic Chicago pizza with genuine hospitality, this is the spot.

They were attentive and accommodating to me and my friend. The ambiance was nice. It would be a good place to go with friends, family, or a date. The food was great! The calamari was very good. I could tell they seasoned it, which is not typical for calamari in my experience. The carbonara pasta was delicious. I have a hard time finding carbonara pasta in the Chicagoland area, and I was glad that this pasta was delicious and semi authentic. For dessert, the sticky toffee carrot cake is good! You have to love sweets in order to like it though because I could see how it could be overly sweet to some people. The sour cream gelato on top was top tier. I never tasted anything like it before. It was so good that I ordered some scoops separately.

Needless to say,…read morethere was not a good restaurant in Alsip so we had to go to Oak Lawn for Francesca's on 95th! We had a great time, with great service and really good old fashioned Italian food!!! For our appetizer, we had the sausage and peppers. GAME CHANGER!!! Neither of us had eaten this classic Italian appetizer before and Francesca's version was a great introduction to this dish. Surprisingly, it was NOT the sausage that was the star of this presentation - it was the sauce and the peppers. The sauce was part top notch olive oil, part Italian seasonings and it was a wonderfully delicious background to each bite. The peppers (green, red & yellow) were perfectly cooked, luxuriously soft but still with a little crisp to them. Those peppers were perfectly cooked! I do think the sausage, while okay, was not up to the standard of the rest of this dish. For my main, I had the Linguini Alla Caruso - shrimp, garlic, olive oil with a basil-pine nut pesto sauce. It was very good, very good. Be warned though the sauce leans a little to the sour or harsh flavor. Not too bad, I certainly ate it up, but there was certainly a sharp taste every once in a while. My spouse had Dana's Bolognese. He was very happy with it! The overwhelming reaction to our main dishes was "holy crap" that's a lot of food! The dishes were as large as a coffee table and we NEVER could have eaten all that food no matter how long we sat there at dinner. Each dish was big enough to feed both of us and several people at nearby tables!!! But the best part of Francesca's on 95th was the service. Everyone was so friendly, so nice, hard working and willing to take care of our every need. Seriously, the staff worked their butts off and provided some of the best service I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Hats off to everyone from the hostess to the server to the bus people. You all really took care of us that evening. You will NOT walk away from Francesca's hungry! Is the food the best Italian I have ever had? Probably not but it is definitely solid and a great place to enjoy a good meal.

Peace and love, everyone!!…read more It's been a long minute since I left a review, so I'm happy to talk about a new food place! My wife and I finally ordered from Paisans Pizza in Oak Lawn, something we've been wanting to do for a long minute. As I have been working out and watching how much I eat since December, I very much look forward to having a 'big back day', as my daughter says! So the online ordering process was very easy. I ordered a medium cheese pizza, a medium sausage pizza, the Southwestern egg rolls, and finally some garlic parmesan wings. When I went to pick up the food, it took a few minutes to find a parking space as there are no spaces for pick-up orders. But when I went in there, nice ambiance with the planes, the cars, and the camper, which is where I had to pick up my order from. The place was jumping (I was there about 6pm on Saturday), and it seemed like a nice overall vibe. Ok so I pick up my order and get back to the crib! First, the pizza: both pizzas were really good. Nice amount of cheese, nice amount of sausage, for both, nice amount of sauce. Now the pizza was good, let me be clear, but on the box it says the 'best pizza in the world'. So my honest opinion is that is it better than all the other pizza places in the area (Domino's, Nonna's, etc)? YES...easily! Is Paisans better than Beggars Pizza? I say yes, my wife says no. Either way, we both agree that they have some good pizza! The garlic parmesan wings lived up to the hype. Crispy wings, nice amount of seasoning, not overpowering. As for the Southwestern egg rolls, this was the only thing I ordered where I was like 'meh'. The shell wasn't really crispy, I think it was a bit bland, and the sauce cup had opened up and spilled in its takeout box. Put it this way...Chili's Southwestern egg rolls are much better, by comparison, in terms of flavor. All in all, this was not a bad eating experience. The food was good all around, and for me, only the egg rolls could have been better. Also, the food was a little on the expensive side....so that is something to keep in mind also. So, does this mean we'll be back? Absolutely! She was pretty nice and very knowledgeable about the food menu as well as the drink menu. For my meal, I did enjoy the bone in ribeye steak with a baked potato with the added shrimp! You can add 4 large shrimp for an extra charge and it was worth it. The shrimp tasted like it was cooked on a grill and had that smokey flavoring to it. My steak was also cooked perfectly and was jam packed with flavor. It literally melted in your mouth! The potato was also good; their butter made it 10X better. I'm not sure what kind of butter they use but it was really good on that and on the bread they serve at the beginning. My fiance had 2lbs of king crab legs and while they were very expensive for only 2lbs (we get it - market price but this was A LOT), they did taste like they had been frozen for awhile. We were not impressed with them at all and he 100% regretted getting them, especially for that price. We were very disappointed in those. If we do come back, we will definitely stick to steak or maybe another fish. What made this visit so awesome was that our waitress gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house to celebrate our anniversary, which we thought was so kind! They even put a heart around it! We honestly had a great experience here and I loved that the restaurant wasn't jam packed and it just felt very intimate and cozy.

The city of Chicago itself has FOUR main catagories of pizza styles that were invented Here:... 1): Deep-Dish - This has a thick crust & lots of toppings. 2). Stuffed - This is 'double-decker pizza where the toppings are laid atop the bottom dough along with pounds of grated cheese, and then another sheet of dough is placed on top to which is added many ladles of tangy pizza sauce. Suffed Pizza usually take about 45 minutes to bake. 3). Tavern Style - This is a Thin-Crust Pizza that became popular in Chicago's Southside neighborhoods long before Deep-Dish or Suffed Pizza ever saw a mouth. It was created for the men who work in the 'Stock Yards' butchering cows. After a long day these workers would often go to their local tavern to have a beer and maybe a snack (if the tavern actually had any snacks. Then, eventually ONE Tavern caught on, that if they offered a Snack, the men drinking would always order another beer. So they began making inexpensive, thin-crust pizza (not to sell but to give-away as a promotion. And to make it easier to both snack and drink at same time, the tavern cut the pizza in straight lines, east to west, and north to south. Then they just passed the pizza down the bar and everbody took a square, (you can tell a lot about a person from watching which slices they choose: the gooey soft inner squares full of melted cheese and sauce-oil; - the rectangular edge pieces with a center that's gooey and a crunchy crust-edge; - and finally, the "Runt" of the "Zaa", the little, dry, triangular pieces (I cannot call in "a slice", because... a slice of WHAT?!?) . The service was attentive and the server was nice enough. Now for the iconic pizza. We had a large half sausage and half Italian beef with mild giardiniera. We enjoyed the sausage half more than the beef half. Overall the pizza was good, but it's not something I'd drive 40+ minutes each to have again. If V&N's was located in my neighborhood, they'd would probably join my pizza rotation. I enjoyed their crispy crust, but didn't love their sauce. The sausage was good. The beef was good but the giardiniera was just okay. We also had the combo appetizer which was also pretty good. V&N's is a legendary Chicago pizza spot, so we had to check it out.
