Really great in lots of ways but lacking in a couple of dishes that really should be better at the price point. The mushroom sopecitos were the pick of the dishes we ordered. Great balance between the masa cakes, richness of the mushrooms and the tang of the pickled red onions, all beautifully presented. The quesadilla was an odd dish that was somehow less than the sum of its parts - high quality blue corn tortilla, kale and queso all individually delicious but big fleshy kale not chopped into smaller pieces made it hard to chew. Plus those ingredients ended up being a little bland which was a shame given the huge flavors in the charred habanero salsa which for some reason was served on the side rather than inside the quesadilla. The steak fajitas again had delicious ingredients that were somehow less than the sun of their parts. The steak was excellent but sliced along the grain and with no steak knife provided meant that it was hard to cut and therefore hard to eat, plus the onions and peppers on the iron skillet were a bit too undercooked to work alongside perfectly charred steak. Chicken mole was outstanding. Drinks were very good as was the service and ambience. So overall it was a great meal and I'd go again, but at $15-20 an appetizer and $30-40 a main there were a couple of frustrating details that I wouldn't expect. read more

I went here with friends from work. I am visiting the area from out of town and someone recommended this place. We ordered prickly pear margaritas, which were delicious. The chips at this place are the best chips I've ever tasted! We ordered guacamole and chips, and I could've eaten it all night. Our server was friendly and very efficient in getting us everything we ordered. I then ordered the TUNA Tostaditos with avocado, chipotle mayo, salsa macha, serranos, crispy scallions. Omg, it was delicious. We were some of the first people there at about 530 but by the time we left it was crowded. It is a popular place! Definitely make a reservation. You really get the feeling that this is a local favorite. And I can see why! We also ordered the churro with the chocolate dipping sauce. The churro was delicious and chewy. Overated and incredibly expensive place. $18 for a regular size quesadilla, with cheese and some zucchini flowers. Good, but nothing extraordinary. Their ceviche was decent, nothing extraordinary. Their mole is not mole, mole is a sauce made with nuts, seeds, chocolate, honey and a variety of chiles. There are all kinds of moles. Some black and red moles add burnt tortilla. Paloma's mole is just burnt tortilla, maybe some chiles, but no nuts nor seeds, let alone chocolate... and if it has any of this it certainly doesn't have enough. Just don't call it mole! It feels more like relleno negro, a Yucatec dish, google it. The original is delicious. This one was mediocre at best and it was sold as mole for 30 something dollars. Service is terrible, a bit arrogant and slow, from the hostess to the waitress. If it was not for the cooks and people from the kitchen, their food would have been equally terrible, but in all fairness, food is fair. We were given a table that allowed us to see the kitchen. We had a great experience here for the most part! Was in town for a bachelorette and came for dinner one night. The service, drinks and food were all great. I had a La Fulana with mezcal and the fish tacos - both I recommend. My only complaint is that there was no A/C and it was a 90 degree day. It was extremely uncomfortable and hard to enjoy dinner when we were all sweating. This is a great restaurant for a date or a nicer (but still low key) meal. We were able to get a table as walk-ins at about 5:30 on a Wednesday. Walking in, you immediately notice the vibrant decor and the nice, intimate ambiance. The food was fantastic. They have wonderful vegetarian options. I had the mushroom sopecitos...they were amazing. My wife had the black bean nachos and there were probably the best nachos I've ever had. We also had the zocolatl (spicy hot chocolaty drink) and my wife, who is a big chocolate critic, thought it was one of the best chocolate drinks she's ever tried - it doesn't hurt that it came topped with an amazing house-made cardamom marshmallow. This was our first night in Santa fe for an overdue girls trip. The weather was a bit chilly but we were offered an outside patio table with heat lamps and were content as the lamps did their job. Our server was hilarious, plenty of laughs throughout the night (We were probably THAT table if you were here on the same night..you know 5 obnoxiously loud ladies from out of town that annoyed your quiet dinner) The food here was SO.EFFING.GOOD...thats coming from a Chicago foodie who usually is not impressed with other cities and what their hot spots offer. Paloma had EVERYTHING you can imagine with flavor. My friends devoured the fish tacos, the cauliflower soap was a huge favorite. The squash blossom quesadilla was tasty as well, a lot of cheese but no one complains about that. SHishitos and agua chiles were delicious too. Food tasted fresh and well done...and if you are a vegetarian theres PLENTY for you here. Really happy we got a reservation at Paloma. The drinks are next level, but the food is too! Unfortunately we had to wait 30 mins (even having a res) in order to be seated. This review is during COVID, Paloma restaurant is doing an amazing job to adapt and serve customers well. We visited Sante Fe from out of town and didn't realize a vegan restaurant was hard to come by, we are so glad we decided to eat at Paloma!! It was incredibly busy, Chico was handling seating very well and was able to get us a spot. I highly recommend getting a reservation! The cauliflower tacos on their menu were amazing. An excellent vegan option if you're visiting the area, the food is plenty! We also ordered chips and guacamole as well as a side of beans (there's no cheese). This used to be one of our favorites. No more for a few reasons: #1. The current menu is not as good as before, # 2. the food is not as good as before (the Esquites were WAY too salty and had far too much cheese, the PORK HUARACHE tacos are now on a Masa, and are totally one-dimensional), and, #3MOST ANNOYING was the "recommended tip" on the check starts at 20% and when I left 15%, they STILL CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD FOR 20%!!!! Do the math, restaurant menus have gone up at least 25% since the Pandemic, so, you take that 25% increase in the tip and add the new minimum of 20% vs 15% and the resulting tip is has grown 67%. We were passing thru Santa Fe with our 3 year old and found a recommendation for Paloma. It helped that our accommodations were blocks away! When we were seated, the staff were gracious and flexible with our kid which helped make the entire evening enjoyable! The obvious highlight was the food. We ordered the ceviche, wild mushroom tlayuda, esquites, mushroom emmoladas, and churros. Everything was phenomenal! The ceviche tasted fresh and just a little spicy, the tlayuda met our high mushroom expectations (!!!!), the esquites were sweet and a perfect complement to the meal, and the emmoladas were unique and memorable. Beyond the food, the drinks were excellent--we had the Diablo and the King's Cup. Above and beyond the food, drinks and service, was the care we felt from the owner, Marja. She checked in on us with no agenda, offered recommendations for our time in Santa Fe, and shared a lovely few minutes with us swapping stories! This place is good, been several times over the years while in Santa Fe, most recently last week. The house chips really are great. Fish tacos definitely recommended, squash blossom quesadillas just OK. Generally menu items range from very good to good enough, drinks generally good although last time both the classic margarita and a non-alcoholic cocktail were watery and not good. Maybe locals try to detour you from this place with less than 5 star because it's a gem. It's a phenomenally chic atmosphere, delicious food, outstandingly long mezcal and tequila menu with craft cocktails that are to die for. Not to mention the staff hustles and our waiter, Lilly, gave the best descriptions of menu items that def pointed us in the right direction. Also one of the best servers we've had in a few years (and we're San Francisco foodies). Okay I hate to be negative, but I was so displeased with how me and my partner were treated at dinner tonight. The food was AMAZING. The back of house staff knows what they're doing. However, the wait staff were SO RUDE! I've never felt so belittled and disrespected in my life. Our server rarely came to our table. There was a mirror behind us so we could see her make eye contact but she would walk away never asking if we needed anything. We asked where the patio was located and she condescending said it was "outside" it was embarrassing. For how much we paid I hoped for some empathy and friendliness. My partner and I are new to Santa Fe, we're recommended this restaurant, but we won't be back. If you're cool with great food, but unfriendly inattentive service than this is the place for you. After sauntering around the farmers market in the rail yard, we were starved, but didn't want to eat typical heavy New Mexican fare. We walked by a relatively nondescript building, peaked in and saw vibrant colors and a warm authentic Mexican atmosphere. We were invited in by a very friendly smile from Amy (who seemed to be running the show) and were seated on a handcrafted wood bench with comfortable custom covered cushions. There were no details left undone as far as decor, atmosphere or really anything else goes. I ordered the best Bloody Mary I have ever had (and yes, it did look like the one in the picture) while my wife had a hibiscus mimosa which was unlike anything we've ever had... extremely flavorful, yet crisp and refreshing. Being from Texas, I had to order the queso and salsa for an appetizer. Again, the best queso I've ever had and the salsas were obviously 100% fresh and housemade. I had this amazing masa dish w/ black beans, oyster mushrooms, salsa and a poached egg. Purely top notch. My wife had sweet potato flautas w/ unbelievably delicious accompanying sauces. As we were wrapping up our meal, a young guy came out from the kitchen and walked by our table... I complimented the food and he ended up chatting with us for ~5 minutes, turns out he's the head chef who writes the menu. We learned all about the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and they even make their tortillas in house where they grind the corn. At this price point it is imperative to have staff that can deliver basic service with professionalism. Paloma is my new favorite restaurant in Santa Fe. My wife and I come to Santa Fe every year at Christmas to visit family. We ate at Paloma twice this year and will definitely be back in the coming years. Through our two visits, we had the opportunity to taste most of the items on the menu. All were delicious, but I'd highlight the lamb barbacoa and the brussels sprouts as particularly delicious. Additionally, Paloma's cocktail menu is top notch. I love mezcal and was impressed by Paloma's selection of great mezcal-based cocktails. Those that I tried were well balanced while still highlighting the mezcal. Finally, Paloma offers a hip, yet welcoming environment. It's cool without being pretentious. Good background music played at an appropriate level. And service is friendly. read more

The atmosphere is just gorgeous...from the glasses, to the artwork on the wall, the seating, and even the restrooms were beautifully decorated. Pretty restaurant in sf. Sat on the patio and there were a lot of flies wanting to try our food. Maybe because of this, my experience wasn't as good as the place's reputation of being fantastic. Chips and salsa was ok, ceviche was ok, chicken mole was too difficult to eat with sauce that was more on the bitter side and thinner than I like. Their dessert though, were amazing.
