I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this place because there is ALWAYS a line and always a wait. If you are willing to wait 20 minutes you are guaranteed a sizzling hot plate of fried buns that are juicy and savory.

These are good, the pork is good. Soup good. And bun itself good. Generally good but nothing stand out. Would come back again as long as the line isn't super long like it was today, bad timing with Valentine's and Chinese new year.

I am honored to be the first to review this place it is delicious! the only thing I got was the fried XLB buns. It is in a down stairs basement of a sort of mall. it's very noisy but the whole world drowns out when you fall in love with these buns! this place only takes cash but a workers helpfully pointed out an ATM nearby. I love this place with alllllllll my heart

When life is lackadaisical and you need an uplifting force or encouragement for catharsis to be resilient as an awakening, dumplings are summoned. It brings presence to every bite for awareness and genuine aliveness. My emotional pain cannot be disconnected for healing. As I sat in silence I checked my email waiting for my order fulfillment and arrival. This business is a local cafe, not quite a restaurant but very Asian specifically a medley of Chinese dumplings and heavy Japanese decor atmosphere. I was very bewildered of this dumpling business is Japanese or Chinese cuisine, or possibly both incorporated? Asian fusion? Japanese beckoning cat, maneki-neko 招き猫, is heavy presence for decor atmosphere throughout the entire cafe. There is one large Japanese beckoning cat with one paw raised in a beckoning gesture by the cash wrap register. This beckoning cat is adorable! The menu is very simple offerings but does not describe the contents in detail. It is not a extensive list as it is a cafe. The server/cashier advise to order first, sit to eat and pay last like a full service restaurant. This business has been listed in my Yelp bookmark to try for a long time. The slightly warm temperature has teased me to induce Spring Fever as the first full day post Daylight Saving Time, 2026 and I was outdoors for walk as exercise. Sauces and condiments are available at a station counter. There is one large TV. Background music is somewhat loud audible and sourced by Spotify. Customer service is average. There is one unisex facility on the premise and is relatively clean. There is a small parking lot in the front shared with neighboring businesses. This business is located in a small shopping complex named Metro Plaza. Chicken dumpling noodle soup, $12.00 The dumplings were pan seared fried, unfortunately not traditionally boiled especially for noodle soup. The dumplings are average. The noodles were rice vermicelli with half boiled egg and scallions in Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen soup base broth. The Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen soup base broth and half boiled egg is a replica of Japanese Ramen noodle soup. It was served piping hot. Chinese soup spoon Tangzhi ladle where the end is at a angle is provided with one disposable wooden chopstick as utensils. Jasmine Tea, cold $1.50 This was awful! It was one tea bag filled with ice. I did not taste the Jasmine aromatic flavor. Stay away from ordering any drink as Song Dumpling Cafe is good for dumplings. It is certainly no bubble tea business to obtain quality Chinese tea. After my MTA NYC Transit SBS Q52 bus ride, I walked from Woodhaven Boulevard moving east on Metropolitan Avenue to gain access.

My favorite was the shrimp cheung fun--it's one of my go-to dim sum dishes, and this one did not disappoint. We also ordered from the menu the pan-fried noodles with beef, which came in a surprisingly large portion and was very tasty. Service was quick, and the food arrived without much wait. One thing to note is that the dining room feels a bit tight, especially with the traditional dim sum carts moving around the aisles. Parking was easy since there's free parking nearby, which is definitely a plus. Overall, while Ocean Bay wouldn't be my first choice for Sunday dim sum, it's a solid option if you're in the area or craving dim sum without a long wait.

Since we have relatives who live on opposite ends of Queens, this location has always been a good halfway point. Two things: 1. This place is truly exhausting during dim sum on the weekends. People will try to get on top of you (and I don't mean that in the best way). 2. Dim sum selection is intentionally small and service is slow to provoke you to order the expensive entree dishes. The dim sum is nothing to write home about at all and is just sufficient enough for any dim sum craving. There's no consistency with the quality, as well as the quantity. The same also goes for the large dishes, though I've only eaten dinner here once or twice since the new management, and there wasn't anything memorable. Service is generally okay, but the employees are definitely overworked during the weekend lunch hours. It's as if everyone who doesn't live in or around Flushing comes here, hence the insane crowds.

We were there for a late dim sum lunch. One thing you must know is that everything here is in Chinese. The menu, the waitstaff, everything. Our friend had eaten here before and had used google translate ahead of time to pick out a few things by showing the roving servers his phone. Because we were there at the end of the dim sum service, not everything was available, but what we got was FANTASTIC!!! I'm not entirely certain what I was eating at all, but it was all delicious! The service was brusque but I honestly think it's just cultural. The older women manning the dim sum carts kept urging us to eat more and seemed very disappointed when we reached our limit! It reminded me of time spent with my great grandmother, who did not speak very much English but used food as her love language and took not eating as a personal affront! I would definitely hit this place up again during my next visit to NY!

They have a parking lot but it fills up quickly, there is also the possibility of residential parking but that fills up too. The restaurant is pretty large and the place is clean. I've been there for dim sum a few times over the years (I'm not a local but I visit), they bring stuff out on carts which you can wait for, but I've also seen carry their bill and walk up to the carts to get items a little quicker. The wait for a table can be long if you don't get there early especially on weekends. The quality of the dim sum was good, none of it came to our table cold (that wasn't supposed to be cold). They also have a take-out/to-go section to order stuff. My relatives live nearby so it's convenient to be able to get some good dim sum walking distance from where I was staying.
