My boyfriend and I have been coming to this location for the past two years. Unfortunately yesterday 5/16/23 we came in 30 minutes before closing (8:55 pm) and ordered a family meal from a new worker wearing a baseball cap. He was rude, obviously annoyed we ordered the family meal, and did not fill our containers to the top or give us any fortune cookies despite this being included in our meal. We came in 30 minutes before and at the very least expected to get what we ordered especially since we ordered $42 worth of food. The worker wasn't wearing a name tag but he ruined our meal. Who would want to purchase food from the type of establishment that hires people who treat its customers poorly and doesn't give them what they ordered? We certainly will not be back. It's rly too bad that this worker had to huff and puff at us for having to do a job he is paid for. Astounding that he was even hired. Sometimes you just feel like Americanized Chinese food. Nothing wrong with that. And while I prefer to keep my money going towards locally owned non-chain joints, we do want for good Chinese in SLO. So...yea, I dig this place. I avoid the noodles because...well, noodles should never look as sad as Panda makes them. So go with the fried rice. In general, I like Panda Express for what it is: cheap, fast food. I would give the chain 4-5 stars overall. This particular location let me down. I went there a few weeks ago, and my meal tasted very burnt (I got chow mein with orange chicken and broccoli beef -- I think it was primarily the orange chicken that was burned, but I could also taste a burnt flavor in the chow mein). It was almost inedible, but I was really hungry so I finished it anyways... but it wasn't pleasurable. And unfortunately I got my meal to-go, so I could not bring it to their attention on the spot. From reading other reviews, it sounds like my experience was not unique. They need to get their act together or I won't be back. This location is terrible! I ordered three large sides of orange chicken for a party and they had to make some fresh because there wasn't enough... No big deal, and I was told it would only be 5 minutes. As I waited they began to serve new customers... After 20 minutes I realized that they were serving all of these new customers a fresh bach of orange chicken. I finally went up and asked about my order and they completely forgot about me standing right in front of them. When I finally got to my party I realized that they had put my "large" sides in their small rice bowl containers, which are way smaller, and to top it off they only filled them half way. $30 for pretty much a single lunch entree of orange chicken. Definitely not worth $6 for a bowl of rice. My fiancé and I went in to get our usual. His was a three entrée plate with broccoli beef, and orange chicken. Mine was a panda bowl with white rice and string bean chicken. We ordered it to go, but they had to make it fresh, so we paid first then got our food and left. We didn't mind the wait because I love it when they have fresh string bean chicken. We got home and I pulled out my panda bowl. WHAT???? I probably got, not even, half a scoop of string bean chicken. What a rip off. I have been to MULTIPLE panda expresses, both here on the central coast (been to this one quite a few times), and down in LA, and I have NEVER received this small of a portion of food before. Not only that, but there have been other occasions at this location that have caused them to lose stars from me. I have complained at least three times on their survey about this location specifically, and now it will be a fourth time. I am being generous with my two stars, only because I HATE rating restaurants and other establishments with low ratings (mainly because I know how tough it is to work in food service). I would much rather leave positive feedback, but this has been ridiculous. They need to get their act in gear. read more

This Is the worst panda Express I have been to in California on multiple occasions this place has not seemed to improve since my last multiple visits and the staff only seems to get worse and newer faces appear once a month, definitely reccomend the panda In Arroyo Grande better, a little more of a drive but the food and portions will make up for it, staff is quality as well read more

Came back with previous positive experience, but now I'm sad that a lot has changed. Like some people mentioned, they have slumped out on portions. The service is really slow. I don't know who is managing this place but it needs help. My orange chicken had this "hard to swallow" feeling down my throat. The sauce felt like it was burnt. I had the fried rice and it was really dried. I tried their beef broccoli stir fry, the entree was over sauces and it had more onions than broccoli & beef combined. As for their chicken spring rolls, it was really soft but bland and the chicken was dry. The people who are working there are either too serious or don't appear friendly. This place is pretty standard for all Panda's everywhere. Around 6 or 7, there's usually a long line but it goes by quick. I come by about once a month for some cheap edible "chinese" food. I get half fried rice/half chow mien with broccoli beef and mushroom chicken. Here and there, I'll treat myself to some unhealthy orange chicken. The food is decent and they service is great. Considering it's a college town, the service is fast, friendly and food is freshly made. I think the main reason I come here is to support Cal Poly organizations fundraising here. 20% of the proceeds go towards the club and I think that's more than a good enough reason to eat here! read more

I love going to Panda, even though the food isn't authentic Chinese food. Who doesn't use msg?? It makes things taste so good! I usually hate going to chain restaurants, but this is one of those exceptions Not much to say about the place's looks or decoration. Basically the same as any other Panda. The food is not bad, really. Although it's not authentic Chinese food, for the price. Their orange chicken is probably my favorite entree. It's covered in this thick orange sauce while the chicken is fried in some batter. I don't know what makes it so good, but I really do it. I'm not too big of a fan of their fried rice or chow mein though. Just no comparison to the stuff in SF. It's not greasy at all. There should be a pool of oil on the bottom! They're also kind of bland. Not much flavor or anything. Probably not enough salt, haha. Their other entrees aren't bad either, but nothing special to note about them. Just mediocre. I have been to this Panda Express many times. Most times the experience has been sub-par. For a while they had some new employees that seemed to be on the ball and they were doing better. But when I went there today, it was beyond unacceptable. I was the only customer in the store, there were two girls at the counter working on my order, and they still couldn't get it right. One girl was apparently training the other, but it was like the blind leading the blind. It was just after the lunch rush, so most of the food pans were almost empty. I ordered a Family Feast to go. Instead of having the chef make more food, they just ladled whatever was left in the pan into a takeout container and called it a day. In one case, this amounted to the takeout container being less than half full. I would have called the manager and complained, but they screwed up and undercharged me too, so in this case two wrongs did make a right. read more

OK this is the third time maybe even the fourth time I have gone into panda express to get teriyaki chicken and brown rice no sauce and they don't have brown rice. This time the reason why is they only have one rice cooker and they had to cut the white rice first of all I was told it would take five minutes and it would be ready so while I was standing there waiting somebody else came out and said whoops we met 20 minutes. Not gonna wait 20 minutes. You would think you could afford more than one rice cooker it doesn't say on your sign brown rice on occasion it says brown rice which means it should be available whenever you come in. Plan ahead. You would've thought perhaps after my third and fourth time they might give me a coupon for some free brown rice the next time I KMan absolutely not. So I get online and contact corporate they apparently don't care either they're going to contact the store and let them know and hope that my Asian dining experience is better next time seriously I just want brown rice I want you to own that you weren't prepared with a possible gift of an order of brown rice for driving all the way from Morro Bay to San Luis Obispo to get something you weren't prepared to give shame on you Panda Express!! This Panda Express is great. Especially if you have kids! I went recently and my kids made a mess (there are good outings and bad outings, can't win them all). I felt awful and offered to clean it up and they were genuinely kind in offering to clean it for me. Not the fake-kind because they have to or something, they were actually so kind. I would label this location as VERY kid friendly. Plus the staff has always been so kind in general. The only reason I can't give 5 stars, however, is the lines wrapped around the restaurant every time I go. It's almost all college students but it's any time of day. Altogether, my wife sends me often to this Panda and I gladly oblige, assuming I have an extra 10-15 min to stand in line. read more

There music was very loud and we asked them to turn it down because we had a 5 month old baby with us. I asked her 3 times. She told me she turned it down but it was clear it was only one notch. She gave me attitude and was super rude about the whole situation. Her name was Ananda and I hope her boss is reading this because she was very unprofessional! I love Panda Express. My roommates and I are some of this locations best customers, we go at least three times a month (we've got a borderline problem). We went on our first panda run of the new year and were sadly disappointed. We had to wait for the orange chicken to be ready which wasn't a problem. But when we finally got our bowls, there was literally SIX pieces of chicken in one. This is a consistent problem - this foothill location is extremely stingy with their chicken. Their predominant clientele are broke college students. I don't spend $7.11 biweekly to be given six pieces of chicken. At this point, it's worth the extra five minutes on the road to go to the Panda located on Los Osos, at least you'll be given more than a toddler sized portion. ALSO, no fortune cookies?? read more
