I'm not a fan of fast food, however my son LOVES Panda Express and wanted it for his birthday party last night. My 5-star review is solely related to the awesome experience I had with my catering order. Thank you all so much for having my order ready timely and packaged so perfectly. Thank you so much for supplying all of the utensils, napkins, condiments, and the paper plates/trays. Also, the price was less than I would have spent on groceries to cook....and the help to my car was a nice touch. And I almost forgot, I placed my order online only about 3 hours in advance. Ew. They had almost no food on the line and what they did have was old and nasty. We tried to get some appetizers and they had maybe 2 of each item. They told us it was all they had and then just stood there and stared at us. It was 6, right around the dinner rush and they didn't offer to make more. I get it. There appeared to be only one server/cashier, and a couple of cooks at 5:30 pm on a Thursday. The line got backed up fast, as you can imagine only one person taking orders & cashing them out. On top of that, my fried shrimp was cold, and my kung-pao chicken was bland compared to what I'm used to at other Pandas. The place also had a bad smell, like bad breath or feces - not good. Honestly I'm a little surprised at the number of negative reviews for this place. Seems like the level of expectations for this FAST FOOD restaurant is exceedingly high. I'll be blunt, I love this place! It's all around better than any other Panda Express I've dined at. I don't come here looking for "healthy" or "authentic" Chinese food. Frankly I come here in large part for the quick and relatively cheap sustenance it provides (a relic from my past days as a financially challenged college student). Fortunately I happen to find their food rather delicious so that's kind of a bonus =P I've been eating from here for the last 8 years and have never encountered bad service or had a bad meal. They generally see a good amount of customer traffic throughout the day, so the food usually doesn't sit too long as new batches are being made constantly. I normally get a two-entree plate with part fried rice and part chow mein as the side (ordered as "half and half"). Always gotta get the orange chicken as one of the entrees and the other I usually pick based on what looks freshest or most appealing that day. Can't really speak to their other options as I hardly ever deviate from the two-entree plate. Not much to say about the decor or atmosphere but the establishment is kept so clean it would make a health inspector cry tears of joy. read more

So disappointed. From out of town, and wanted a quick to-go meal. Came here to take to the drive-in. Half the dishes were missing (all new staff in the back we were told), they had no steamed rice (something about it dried out and would take 40 minutes!), and the beef and broccoli was awful...the meat was burnt/dry, and there was no sauce. I've never been disappointed with Panda Express before...didn't know it was possible, but I was proven wrong. read more

let's be real: panda is probably the best asian food in slo. decent quality food for a reasonable price. staff is always friendly, and usually the line moves fast. I always get orange chicken and honey shrimp; however, I dislike how each employee counts out the individual shrimp. I get you're supposed to ration it out, but I mean come on.. tryna get employee of the month or what? I won't tell anyone if you give me an extra shrimp or two. also, it seriously ruins my day when they forget to give me a fortune cookie. I love the location. The staff are always friendly and will get more entrees cooked if the dish is running low. My last two times were great in every way. The food was great! Food selections were all available. Enjoyed samples as always. You just need to ask if you want to try a new dish. I got my order very quickly to take home to my house bound hubby. It always gives him delight to eat such great tasting food. Worth the trouble- especially when it makes him so happy! And I love Panda Express too! The menu has something for everyone. Such a wide selection of spicy, hot, or mild creations, along with the shrimp and Eggrolls, pot stickers. And always freshly cooked, steaming hot when I get them home. The the problem was that I got boxes of antreys and when I got home with them both were filled ato about an inch from the top. So I arrived at 8pm, this branch of the franchise was open until 10pm. I wanted Teriyaki Chicken, one of their staples. There was none on display and when i asked if they could make me some, I was told no, that there was none thawed. I understand that they don't want to waste food, because they need to make money, but this is a staple on the menu, a "go to item". The first time I came here it was ok because they started serving walnut shrimp and I thought it tasted fine. This is the best chinese food in slo.. I feel that the workers are nice but really stingy about how much they give you. The rice also most of the time doesn't taste good. I prefer the noodles more. When I went I ordered a 3 entree meal and when the worker put too much inside my box she would take most of it out so she can close it.. WHAT THE HELL.. if you filled it already why the hell would you take out some of the food.. Panda is ok, like getting a big take out box of chow mein noodles and taking them home and watching netflix kind of way. I always hate when I do get that big box of chow mein and they always look at me bewildered and go that's it?.....no sides. Whenever I go there I know the question is coming like I am suddenly going to say, really you have sides, well pile them on, I didn't see them through that clear window sneeze barrier all lined up in front of me! I do like there orange chicken but the whole side thing kind of turns me off I want to get what I want and they will say thats not a side. Well again there was no food in the serving bar. Every time I come to this panda they are out of steamed rice and 3 of the five entrée Choices. I asked when they would have more walnut shrimp and I was told I don't know since all the chefs were on break at the same time. This panda express is in a very convenient location and has the quality you would expect from your average panda express. Obviously the orange chicken is the most popular item but there is plenty other chicken that tastes amazing. The only item I would not recommend would be the noodles because they look very sad and genetically modified. I have been going to both Panda Express locations in town for a long time and prefer this location on foothill. The staff is friendly and give generous portions, Most of the time it is quite fresh. If there is ever a time when I am not quite satisfied, they offer to make fresh food for me. It seems like the staff is always wiping tables and keeping everything very clean. The managers do a great job at running this restaurant. (Our family eats there about three times a month.) read more

I made an online order to this restaurant on 11/16/2014 (a Panda feast for my Ma, nephew, and me), shortly thereafter I was called and told that three of the four items I'd order were not available (a wok had broken apparently). I told them I did not want to replace the items and asked them to cancel the order refunding my debit purchase. I was told by the employee that he did not know how but, received a call back later saying that he had the manager explain it to him over the phone. That was either done incorrectly or a flat out lie. The charge went through and to this day, nearly a month since the order, no refund has been processed. At this point I'm writing off the $41.74 but, I will never order from this location again. read more

i had the most wonderful experience here! my friend and i came last night and were greeted cheerfully by none other than ruiz who blessed our plates with a heaping amount of chow mein! we weren't getting short changed at all with ruiz, he made sure we were satisfied customers! next we were greeted by kieran who served my friend with EXTRA cream cheese ragoons without her even asking, yet again we were so pleased to be served by such a lovely employee. finally, anu rang up our order. anu is someone we have both had great experiences with in the past so we were so happy to see him again. not surprisingly, he did an amazing job. these employees all deserve a raise and recognition of their amazing work and customer service. read more

This is the best Panda Express I have ever been to. Not only do they give you a very large portion of food, their employees are always smiling and happy to accommodate you with anything you need. The taste of this Panda Express is different than the rest in a much BETTER way.
