I keep making the mistake of going here every few weeks. Tonight was the typical "yeah this is bad..." experience. After walking in I am greeted by one worker just blankly staring at me. Doesn't say hi, doesn't ask if they can help me. Just nothing. I say hi, start ordering. I have to repeat my order about 27 times. Why? Because every single worker there has an airPod in their ear while working. Not paying attention to give even a drop of customer service to anyone. I think she said like 3 words to me the whole time. Is this company policy to allow everyone to have headphones in while working? Chik fil a goes out of their way to make my dining experience great. And after they're done they say "my pleasure...". Tonight's panda worker would've rather been anywhere else but working. Is the work environment that bad that you need a permanent distraction in your ear just to tolerate being somewhere for 4 hours and scoop food onto a plate? I got home to eat them but when I opened the bag they looked like they had been made from old oil that had never been changed. It might have been better if it was fried in motor oil. Very cold. Staff are friendly. Food is above fast food average. The meat was hard and chewy...not at all like the sample I had from the same wok. It's a 50/50. Looks like Panda Express is another victim of Covid, you can eat inside again but all sauces are in packets.... nothing like putting cold sauce on your somewhat fresh/warm food. The sweet n sour sauce for your egg roll will need to be applied directly to each bite like a burrito. The staff told us they had to serve everyone in line before us before they could fill out order we ordered and paid for 35 minutes before anyone was in line. We finally got our order served AFTER all others in line and a healthy bit of screaming. NO manager on duty. Before going out to eat at a restaurant, I usually look through their menu(s) online first so I know exactly what to order when I get there. Despite this being a fast food chain, I made no exceptions. Though nothing like San Francisco or NYC, Wichita has quite a large number of "American Chinese" restaurants. These places all offer the basics: orange chicken, beef and veggies and fried rice (fortune cookies for desserts? Score!). I looked through PE's menu and something caught my eye: eggplant & tofu. I wanted to try it and I wanted it immediately. I got into my car and drove approximately 15 minutes to PE. I wanted to eat comfortably at home so I ended up going through the drive though instead. I was greeted by a friendly voice. I asked if they had eggplant & tofu and she said no. I was so sad. I didn't want to go home empty handed so I ended up ordering their Beijing beef and orange chicken. "Thank you thank you," the lady said to me. For a fast food chain, this was not fast. There was only one car ahead and I waited for about ten minutes before it was finally my turn to drive up to the window. At first I thought the car in front had ordered a lot but I was wrong. I don't know what took PE so long. I should've just walked inside to order. Perhaps it would've been a much faster process. Overall, I was disappointed. Not only was I not able to order what I was craving for, it was also a long wait. To make things worse, I ordered steamed rice but got fried rice instead. The entrees were average. This Panda express is near home and convenient so consequently I have visited their drive through two or three times a month for the past six years. The drive through has always been a little on the slow side but orders have always been hot and servers have been pleasant. One of my favorite dishes is their Teriyaki chicken and I always double up on it. Since July 1, 2021 I have gone through the drive through 10 times without being able to place an order because there was no teriyaki chicken available. I have tried early, late and rush times around meals to no avail. If they aren't going to have one of their best menu items available then why is it on the menu. I am a regular customer and eat at the Wichita and Derby Kansas Panda stores between 30 and 40 times a month. I have lost over 50lbs eating at Panda Express! Sure, there are issues now and then, but generally speaking, I love the food. 2 issues stand out CONSISTENTLY that need to be addressed: 1. Dirty tables! I know they get busy, but I regularly sit at a dirty table because there is nothing clean and just today, nobody came out to clean tables- even with no one ordering at the counter. When you see multiple tables turn over a couple of times without being cleaned, this is unacceptable. (This issue is mostly with the East Kellogg store) 2. Overcooked Teriyaki Chicken! Seems about a third of the time, this chicken is overcooked. When it's right, it's juicy and tender. When it's charred BLACK, dry and tough, I'm amazed that they actually still serve this. They have a bad ROACH problem!! My husband and I got our food and was filling our drinks when a small roach came crawling out of the large lids. We skipped those and sat down our food had just been cooked so I thought it was safe. As we sat eating out crawled another larger roach from the tv, down the wall and table. We asked this guy walking around if he was the manager, said yes. So we told him about the roaches and he didnt even act like it was a big deal. He said "ok thank you" and walked away. It will be the last time we eat there. Sad because I like the food. But I can NOT do roaches!! It wasnt even late at night.
