I was advised that the restaurant would be closing at 9:00 PM and that takeout orders would be accepted until shortly before closing. Approximately one hour later, when I attempted to place a takeout order online for a 4:30 PM pickup, the website indicated that the restaurant was no longer accepting online orders. I then contacted the restaurant directly and was informed that online ordering had already been closed, despite the information I had received earlier. We came with a large party to celebrate my mom's birthday. She has a rewards account which granted her a free dumplings appetizer for her birthday and when we showed the server, they made up every excuse as to why she couldn't get the free appetizer despite it being loaded in her rewards account which we could clearly see in the app. It even worked when redeeming for pickup when ordering through the app but they claimed she couldn't not use it. You lost a long time customer with your poor customer service skills. I've never seen anything like this. As a vegetarian, I was left confused by how things are run at this restaurant. I asked for tofu to be added to my veggie noodle and was happy to pay extra. In the end, for a $3 charge I received only 3 or 4 small pieces of tofu that were heavily fried and barely tasted like tofu - 90% of it was just crust. Probably not coming back here again. read more

It's Panda Express, but better: fresh and with an elegant ambience. However, I've experienced some inconsistency with the drinks and food. The service is good though. You can order takeout through the app, as they have a rewards program - but the email notifications are somewhat shoddily coded. I emailed corporate about a security complaint in January 2023, and I haven't heard back. DRINKS ORDERED - Cherry Blossom ($13). Had a sip of my friend's. The raspberry drink base was sweet and good, but it seemed like they forgot the alcohol part. - Ginjo, Omachi Jewel Brocade ($12 glass). Tasty cold sake with a citrus scent, clear and light flavor. - Mai Tai ($13). Strong, sweet, and fresh tasting fruit juices. Excellent! - Must Have Mule ($13). The ginger beer base tasted great, but the drink was weak in terms of alcohol. STARTERS ORDERED - Vegetable Egg Rolls ($9 - 4 pcs). The filling was gingery, fresh and saucy. In contrast to your typical congealed fast food wrapper, Panda Inn's was crispy on the outside with discernible layers. - Crab Wontons ($11 - 4 pcs). The quality was more delicate, with a thin wrapper. I was surprised to find large chunks of real crab meat, although there was far more cream cheese than crab inside. MAINS ORDERED Portions are massive, which justifies the price. Everything I've had was the regular size. The larger "Family" portion could probably feed a family of 4 with just one dish. - Orange Chicken. Literally Panda Express orange chicken but better, as the breading is fresh. The baby corn was a welcome source of fiber, but not the most exciting. - Phoenix Chicken ($19). Thinly sliced white meat chicken that was not overcooked and stayed very crispy throughout the meal. The sauce was spicier than the orange chicken, and slightly less sweet. I liked the plain broccoli on the side, which was cooked but still crunchy. - Honey Walnut Shrimp ($25). Crispy and sweet. A fresh version of the standard dish with plump and large shrimp. - Lo-Mein with choice of pork ($18). This was actually disappointing. The noodles were soft and overcooked. I was surprised to see char siu bbq pork, and I wouldn't have minded if it hadn't tasted lackluster. - Spicy Eggplant & Tofu ($16). The eggplant was soft and cooked through, and its skin retained a vibrant purple color. The tofu was standard. There was also bell pepper and basil, but the brown sauce was not like "three cups" seasoning. At the end of the meal, everyone gets a white chocolate dipped fortune cookie wrapped in colorful foil. We have been going to Panda Inn since they re-opened. This is one of my son's favorite spot. He loves their lemon chicken and their egg & corn soup. The chicken is crispy and delightfully delicious! I normally order their chicken with eggplant which is pretty fantabulous! We like that you're not seated so close to other tables. The service is always great so we are always happy to return. Unbelievable. I sit down next to a table with a few kids. One of the children is playing games on his iPad at FULL volume. No headphones, nothing. Clearly irritating myself and another table. I call the waiter over... he says it's not loud enough to kindly ask them to mute the music or put on headphones. Spoke to Manager... same thing. Price was astronomical, one dish will get you 2-3 combo plates at any Chinese food place, and with the 1.5 hr wait for a table and additional 1 hr to get any food on the table, I don't see ANY reason to ever come here, just go to Panda Express. The phoenix chicken came highly recommended by yelpers but it was so crunchy and painful on my mouth and jaw to eat that we had to send it back, didn't taste bad it just felt like eating rocks, the Mongolian beef had a lot of meat which is good but it was missing any texture, like eating meat soup, the lo mein was all sog as well, nothing like chow mein, why change something that's incredibly good? To charge $20 instead of 3? The interior design (rug, wall deco, table covers, lighting, theme, waiting room) felt confusing and a mess, like an old Denny's with a touch of steakhouse, and a cafeteria. Didn't feel like a fine dining establishment like the name and prices suggest. I was expecting way more from this place, I mean at least better than Express if the price is going to be 5x. We got there about 1:20pm on a Saturday and it wasn't crowded. There were plenty of empty tables. The place is quite cozy and medium size. I went here about 15 years ago and my kid convinced me that they changed their menu since that time so I gave it another try. The waiter was friendly, attentive and got our food rather quickly. My favorite dish was the shrimp and walnut. I also ordered the eggplant and tofu which the tofu was over cooked and dry. This dish tasted better from Panda Express. The orange chicken tasted like there was a special ingredient in there that made it taste weird to me but my kids liked it. The fried rice was clean and not oily so that was a good dish. My kid ordered the shrimp and noodle which the shrimp was very salty and the noodles were bland but she loved it. It was nice that they left a tall glass bottle of water for us. They also served our dishes with white rice. Oh, the white chocolate covered fortune cookies were super yummy. Overall, the service was great and the food was good. Honestly, I'm not going pay almost $20 a plate in the future unless the food is exceptional. read more

A colleague of mine is always talking about Panda Inn with patients and how delicious it is I had to check it out. I originally wanted to check out the Pasadena location but is currently under construction, so we opted for the Glendale location, and it did not disappoint whatsoever. We arrived just in time for the lunch specials, they had such a great lunch selection to choose from, I was a tad bit surprised by that. The ambiance was so clean and nice, the setting of the restaurant reminded me of a scene from the movie The Rush Hour LOL!! The Six P's to success: Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor performance. Whoever managed, or mismanaged, Christmas Eve surely failed. Not only was the service slow and all their "time updates" way off, the food was awful. As if they lost a couple of Chefs before dinner. What a horrible Christmas Eve experience. Been going for years since opening of the original way back when and was excited when they reopened after remodel... so 1-star is probably way harsh and will change once I go back to visit when things are "'normal".
