cup of corn chowder and a strawberry chicken salad
    Susie C.

First time to try the soup corn chowder and felt in love!! really creamy and tasty and delicious, I ordered the strawberry chicken salad too but the chicken was not good it tasted like they had it in the fridge for a few days, the fruits the strawberries, mandarins, blueberries were fresh and good like the lettuce, only giving 4 stars because of the chicken but I will definitely be back to try other tupes of entrees that they have

Spicy Take given to customer with untoastead soggy white bread
    Victor M.

My Spicy Take burger was presented to me on untoasted white bread (sandwich bread). When I inquired about the difference in the menu picture on their website, the cooks and manager stated "oh that's because the brioche buns are in the freezer", and continued to do other work. They did not offer to toast the bread they haphazardly placed on my plate. The previous time (a couple months ago), I ordered a salad through the drive thru, and was given dark grey avocado pieces all throughout my salad. This means to me they premake their salads in the morning and the avocado clearly became inedible.

Tuna sandwich. Bread is hard and stale.

I have stopped here multiple occasions often to get the wrong stuff at the drive thru. I have been patient till now. This tuna sandwich was the last straw. I can't believe any employee would look at this tiny sandwich and think it was fit to serve. Bread is rock hard. There is barely any tuna inside. Since the bread is so hard and can't absorb the tuna it squeezes out the little that's no matter how you punch the bread and bite into it. Not great when you are eating in the car. So Panera has raised ALL their prices at their stores and evidently cut their quality and portions to the bare minimum. And I constantly get served terrible lukewarm coffee everywhere I go. It's gross. Since Panera is no longer a good value by any standard I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Unfortunately. I suggest you pass this Panera up and keep going. There's a Jason's Deli right down the street.

Finally a place in Baytown that's somewhat healthy and not subway I wanted a smoothie and the closest smoothie place was far enough to where I'd have to get on the interstate. Also I notice Baytown doesn't have any salad shops or stations or a les madelines so I ended up getting a salad and soup with a sandwich. I went all out basically. It's a shame it's so hard to find healthy places to eat in this town. I'm happy they have a drive thru and they didn't get anything wrong on my order. Will come back when craving something healthy.

I ordered a Mac and cheese kids meal because I wasn't that hungry but it was really filling. My friend got the tomatoe soup and it was really good. The place looks clean and the best part is that there wasn't a lot of people so the service was fast. Staff was very friendly.

As we walked in the hostess/waitress looked at us and kept asking "what?" at least 4 times before she realized we wanted a table for 2. We were seated and we felt like we were inconveniencing the waitress as she seemed to not really want to be there at all. It felt like wanted to take our orders, and leave our table ASAP. Maybe she was having a bad day, but it did not seem like standard service. The "fresh" soup dumplings were so thick and chewy. Normally soup dumplings are supposed to be thin and delicate but these were the complete opposite. The beef noodle soup lacked flavor all around. I ordered it with wide noodles as the server told me they were around half an inch wide, my noodles came out and they were over an inch wide... which is not what I expected. The scallion pancake was the best item I had that night and that says a lot since it was probably frozen/pan fried. The poor service coupled with the food definitely left a bad taste in our mouths. I wouldn't go back or recommend this place to anyone as there are plenty of other soup dumpling restaurants in the Houston are

The staff were friendly, and there was plenty of seating inside. I went with the Manager's Special, which includes a half sandwich, a soup, and chips, and it's around $12-$14. One nice perk at Jason's Deli is the free soft-serve ice cream. They have cones and offer vanilla, chocolate, and a vanilla-chocolate swirl. This time, though, the ice cream was a bit icy and watery. Usually it's smooth and creamy, so that was a little disappointing--but it's free, and I still appreciate that they offer it. For my soup, I chose the seafood gumbo. It had six or seven shrimp in it, which really surprised me, and it was very flavorful. Overall, if you like sandwiches, soups, salads, or healthier options, Jason's Deli is a solid choice, and I'd recommend this location.

While visiting friends in Baytown and doing some Christmas Day shopping, we spotted this location and thought, why not give it a try? I thought of their oaded potatoes, but ended up going with the half sandwich, half soup combo instead. I chose the chipotle avocado chicken sandwich and the chicken pot pie soup. Service was surprisingly fast despite it being around lunchtime, there was only one other table near us. Once we placed our order, the food arrived in under five minutes. The sandwich tasted good, but it was a bit light on protein. I wish they had added a couple more pieces of chicken. The chicken pot pie soup, on the other hand, was tasty and very thick--almost gravy-like in consistency. They also offer free ice cream, which is a nice perk, though it was a little icy for my liking. Still, it's a fun touch. Overall, the experience was solid with quick service and friendly staff. They did ask if I had a Jason's Deli Rewards account and if I wanted to sign up, but it's not a place I visit often enough to justify it.

They do have live bands so it may get loud, if that's not your thing. Now for the food... there was so much we wanted to try like the fried trio (zucchini, mushrooms, and pickles), but we chose the bacon deviled eggs and they did not disappoint! The bacon was candied and oh so good. They have a really good salad bar, and the waitress charged us for the kids portion since we were all getting meals that didn't come with a trip. Lots of good toppings to choose from. They have yummy rolls with honey cinnamon butter. My only complaint was the ranch and blue cheese was a bit too runny, and the blue cheese lacked flavor. My bonus daughter and I split the wings and the seafood platter. The wings are really good, we got hot and cherry jalapeño barbecue. The seafood platter was very good, huge portion, 6 shrimp and 2 large pieces of catfish, and the french fries were awesome. I just wish the tartar sauce tasted a little bit better. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it wasn't my favorite. My husband had the signature sirloin topped with a seafood sauce. It was really good and cooked perfectly. He got the loaded mashed potatoes, but they were very dry, they needed some cream or some butter or both. I also got a side of fried okra, I didn't care for it, not very flavorful and not crispy. My daughter got the kids cheese enchilada dinner, she didn't care for it, she said it was mostly cheese and no tortilla. The dessert menu is extensive, and it was hard to make a choice. I wanted to try the brownie bottom cheesecake, the Keylime pie cheesecake, the bourbon, pecan cheesecake, and the Texas velvet chocolate cake. My daughter and I both went for the Texas velvet chocolate cake. The waitress failed to tell me that the portion size is HUGE. Wish I'd have taken a pic! It's two huge slices of chocolate cake on top of each other. Let me tell you, though, this is one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. The cake part was moist, I hate that word, but I can't think of another word that describes it. Very flavorful and chocolatey. The icing was one of the best I've ever had, it's a chocolate buttercream and so good. We've eaten on this cake for a few days and it is not going to waste, that's for sure. I think the cake was the best part of the meal. Soooo good. My husband got the salted caramel pecan pie, it was very good. He's not a crust person, but he actually ate all the crust, it was so good. Overall, I really like cactus jacks and I would come back. The waitress was mediocre, for example, she told me they didn't have blue cheese, but they obviously did. She wasn't very attentive at the table, took awhile to get refills and we weren't able to get her to get us some butter for the mashed potatoes because she was rarely there, just a bunch of little things... She was very sweet though . The only reason why they got five stars was the chocolate cake, I think they really deserve four stars because their sides and condiments need some work. But, we will give it another try for sure.
