Every once in a while I get a Panera craving. I have been going to the Bohemia location for years now. During prime time this place gets packed!!...I normally avoid going during busy times. I have had issues in the past with orders being wrong...but during my last few visits to Panera in Bohemia the workers have really stepped their game up. I love the new addition to the restaurant where I don't need to stand at the pickup counter looking like a hawk as the trays of food get made up. Now the food gets delivered straight to the table which is a nice little add on. So basically Panera is like any other chain, I am NEVER overly impressed because it's not special or unique if you will. I can't appreciate a chain like I would any other food establishment because chains don't have that special touch. The food here is fresh to an extent, and quickly prepared. There are a plethora of drink options and many baked goods to choose from. I think Panera can get very pricey so I suggest becoming a rewards member (completely free and I've used coupons and I've gotten free pastries/bagels at times). All and all Panera is Panera...a great place to come and enjoy some broccoli and cheddar soup every once in a while but I wouldn't choose this over a local sandwich shop or deli. read more

This is one of the only non- "fast food burger" places to eat near where I work, but I haven't been back in a while. The fact that my lunch break is only 30 minutes makes it difficult when it's crowded. Today, it was wide open - and I got to see a lot of new (healthier) items on the Panera menu! Very happy about that. I tried the Quinoa salad with chicken added ($1 extra), and it was DELICIOUS. Of course, I feel sort of ridiculous paying $11 for a salad, but honestly - this was a full meal. They added a generous layer of sliced chicken across the top, and the crunchy almonds and tart olives really added to the wonderful flavor combination in this salad. No idea what kind of dressing that was (it was yummy!) but I was glad they put two containers in there for me... it was just right for that large salad. Next time I go, I'm going to try one of those Thai broth bowls.... sounds great! As always, props to the server for putting utensils and napkins in the bag with my to-go order. Forgot to make my breakfast yesterday so I had to stop somewhere to start my metabolism. I ducked into Panera Bread to check and see if they had anything that was somewhat WW friendly. I choose Mediterranean Egg Whites on Ciabatta. It had egg whites, a thick slice of Vermont white cheddar, roasted tomatoes, fresh spinach and basil pesto on baked Ciabatta bread. Not a terrible choice on paper, but in reality it was 11 pluspoints. There was so much basil pesto on it, which was totally unecessary, because everything else on it was so flavorful. May sound silly to you, but I would rather have a less caloric breakfast and spend my points on more frivolous eats. However, service was outstanding! read more

Honestly I like Panera. However I don't necessarily believe it is a good value for the dollar. The salads a fresh but often tiny. For example I had the Asian chicken salad and it was probably a half a cup of salad in my bowl. I'm not a heavyweight and I left that place starving today. I believe the soups are really good for example the garden pesto is chock full of vegetables and low in calories which is a good thing and it fills you up. My son had the classic grilled cheese. We had to add ham and that was an extra two dollars. 8 bucks for a sandwich that he ate in two bites really? That was pathetic. So the long and short of it. Can you have a really is one of the few options for fresh food and good salads. However, you need to be prepared to separate yourself from a good deal of your $. It's a shame that eating healthy has to cost so much. read more

Now I'm going to start this off by saying I love Panera Bread, but just not this particular one. I work nearby so I ordered you pick two with rapid pick up. My food was ready even before they said it would be which is great. The problem starts when I got back to work to eat my food. We can start with the sandwich. It was so sloppy, had a half of a tomato on it and one slice of turkey and I live for the sauce they put on it, it's my favorite part, open it up to see its the wrong sauce and a lot of it all dripping down the sides of it. So that's the sandwich Next, the bread I got on the side for my soup (which was the only good part) the bread was burnt and hard I couldn't even rip it apart lol, and I believe it's called panera bread for a reason. I went to this Panera Bread on Saturday and had dinner with my wife. After dinner we thought it would be nice to have an Danish. We went to the counted to pick something out, and I was shocked to see the food was covered with flies. It was disgusting, I could only in think about the food we just had. I sent a letter to the Panera office and received a reply that this unit is a franchised unit and they did not heave control of it,but they would forward my comments to the owners. Love Panera!!!! Never a problem with an order and employees are always courteous. LOVE the soups but have recently discovered the amazing Mac and cheese!!! Coming locally soon and will be there much more!!! However this particular location (we usually frequent Port Jeff or Lake Grove) seems to be SO busy and every time we go there the wait is long for service and food. read more

Just had lunch there and as always the food was real nice. It is a "Goldilocks" place. The seasonings, quantity, selection, taste are all "just right. No highs or lows, just good solid food and baked goods that are consistent between stores. That being said, I really like the selection and quality. I started going to Panera in St. Louis, where it started and make it a restaurant selection of choice. I have been to many locations; all good. Must comment on service today. In the most wonderful crazy time of the year (yea , Christmas) it was a mad house with customers. The staff did an excellent job in meeting the rush. The tables were bussed quickly, and the orders moved along smartly. It looked like the number of staff working met the customer's needs. A far cry from many stores where staff are harder to find than an honest politician. Great place for breakfast, lunch or early dinner. read more

Panera is not bad for a chain restaurant. The food always seems pretty fresh and the breads, save one time, are always amazing. I tend to frequent it because it is right next to where I work and it offers some healthier alternatives than most of the other quick-stop lunch places around. I do think that they're a bit overpriced though. I usually get a combo meal, my favorite being the chopped chicken Cobb salad and the Sonoma chicken stew. I think I am also addicted to their iced green tea and in the mornings, the chai tea latte. I do have a couple of bad things to note about this particular location. The service in the morning (morning for me is around 7 am or nearly 8 am.... I'm usually running late for work) when the place is pretty quiet is soooooo poor. The staff seems bothered that you came in no matter how friendly you may be to them. Once I literally had my breakfast sandwich to-go bag thrown at me from one of the cooks behind the counter who was too busy to even look at me in case she break the conversation she was having with her co-worker. Needless to say, I stopped coming in for breakfast. As can be see by the amount of Starbucks check-ins I have made. I do enjoy the Panera Rewards program though. A nice free bagel (though you have to pay for the cream cheese) or coffee drink/tea/smoothie here and there and free pastry on your birthday, is schweet! This is my favorite Panera and it really has to do with the morning Staff. Stacey, Mike and Big Mike are wonderful, warm and go out of their way for the customers. The Manager Keith is always so sweet and willing to help. My only issue is the other male manger who seems to always be in a bad mood. He tends to be snippy at the employees and takes away from that nice vibe of the place. Not sure why he is rude at times since his staff is always attentive and polite. my experince with his grumbles this morning takes two stars away. The rest of the employees get 5 stars! read more

Our visit on Saturday 4/28/18 will be the last. Last time we had breakfast was so-so. This time was so awful. We ordered .2 simple egg sandwiches. Simple. The bacon was cold. The slice of cheese on both sandwiches was ice cold. No one even attempted to let it melt. Hard, thick, cold piece of cheese. Gross. Money totally wasted. This is the most disgusting location I have ever visited. The last time I ordered a breakfast sandwich on the app for rapid pickup, they literally gave me the nipple of the bread as one side of the sandwich. I stopped ping for two years. Recently my colleagues told me there was much improvement, so I gave it another chance today. I ordered on the app and picked up. This sandwich must've been sitting in the fridge for so long the middle was frozen, the bread was soggy, and it had a rotten taste to it. No more chances! read more

This location is so inconsistent. I only get an accurate order about half the time. Typically is some ingredient missing on a salad or sandwich or I will receive a wrong item entirely. Occasionally I will get a salad with some questionable greens I have to dispose of. Get it together. Unfortunately, this one is the closest and when I cannot leave the office, I have to get it delivered and it is one of the better fast delivery options for me. read more

You can never go wrong with Panera Bread! I usually stop in for a small snack or lunch, I always go for their broccoli cheddar or french onion soup. Broccoli cheddar is my favorite! They always make it creamy and thick, with big chuncks of broccoli and carrots. The soup isn't too cheesy and has plenty of flavor of all the ingredients combined. The french onion is very good as well. The broth isn't as salty as most places tend to make it, the bread coating is thick and soft, along with the decent layer of cheese on top. It's just great! If you're ever in the neighborhood, definitely stop in and enjoy. read more

Hmmm Panera Bread. I was skeptical, but the menu looked enticing and seemed worth a shot for an easy lunch. I scanned the menu. Turkey Bacon Avocado BLT and Fuji Apple Salad with chicken seemed like a good way to go. I gave it a shot and grabbed an Orange Pellegrino to wash it down. I paid the lady at the counter then asked, "Where is my food?" She answered quickly while handing me a strange device "Take this to your table and we'll deliver it!" "Fantastic," I replied! And deliver it they did. The salad was extremely good...so much so that I fully admit surprise. Very flavorful although my only complaint would be the chicken was ice cold and I expected at least mildly warm...but not a big deal. The BLT on the other hand had a few issues. The first being the bacon which was soggy and cold. It was a sad day to be bacon. As for the avocado...I'm pretty sure avocado is generally soft, and this was hard as a rock although it looked perfectly fresh...it seemed as if it was frozen almost. I had to remove it from the sandwich and dice it up with a fork and knife and then put it back on as biting in to it would have only caused a visit to my dentist. Bacon was terrible, avocado was strange...overall it was fine. Salad and menu variety gets it a third star. read more

The wife and I had a gift card for Panera for $15. $27 later the wife had broccoli soup and and half a sandwich of steak and cheese. Her soup was very thin almost watered down. The sandwich was cold and the meat still thawing from being frozen. I had the French onion soup with croutons. Small bowl like warm and minimal amount of cheese. I had half a turkey sandwich and the meat was half thawed half frozen. I'm glad I only paid $13 for this and even that was to much. Stop in for coffee but skip the food you won't be happy. read more

I had stopped going to this Panera location, and tonight I just realized why. I stopped there this evening on my way home from work to pick up a salad for dinner. As I stood in line, I observed the night manager treating one of his employees in a rude and condescending manner, something that really put me off and altered my appetite. That should have been red flag numero uno for me to just walk out the door, but no, I had to remain and and become even more irked and disenchanted. I ordered a Greek Salad and a drink. While waiting for the salad, I went to fill my drink - a Panera staple favorite - their Hibiscus tea. Except it was literally about 95% water and 5% tea. So I dumped it out and went to try the fruit punch, except that, too, was watered down to the extreme and tasted like piss. I then settled for their Acai tea, which was okay. By this time my salad was ready. I get home, and there is next to NO feta cheese on it, maybe a very small sprinkle. It was barely noticeable. There are exactly TWO olives on it, and they were soggy. The lettuce was all wilted, there were NO onions on it, and the tomatoes were wilted and disgusting. How the frig do you eat a Greek salad with two olives, no onions and no feta cheese? That is not a Greek salad. I wrapped it back up and took it back, and made a promise to myself to NEVER EVER again go to this Panera. Having worked in both western Nassau and in Riverhead, I have frequented the Paneras in Rockville Centre and Riverhead, and I have never had these types of issues. Their food has always been fresh, their drinks with an appropriate ratio of water, and the managers polite and professional. In the past I have had issues with this Panera's tuna sanwiches, their macaroni and cheese and their turkey sandwiches. Never again. Panera you guys used to be on top of your game. I left here so freaking angry! I would first like to say that I used to be a regular customer at this location a couple of years ago, when I worked in the area. I never had an issue. Recently, I was shopping in the area and decided to pop in for lunch. As I walked in, I noticed the new self-ordering terminals that a few of what looked like management persons were fussing around with. They were non-operational, at the time. There were 3 cashiers working, but lucky me got stuck with Stacy. Stacy is by far THE rudest fast food worker I have ever encountered. She acted annoyed throughout the entire order, as if I was bothering her by ordering. Still, I remained as friendly as I could and walked away with a smile. I was given a disk and was told to find a seat and that the server would find me with my food (this was new and extremely convenient). Within minutes, my food was at my table, which was the only highlight of the experience, the food came out quick. The soup was cold, the bread was stale, but at this point, I just wanted to be out of there, so I just ate what I could. I figured I would grab a hot cocoa to go because how can you possibly screw up a hot cocoa? Lucky me, Stacy was the only cashier working and was dead in the middle of an super important conversation with someone who wasn't even ordering anything. Mind you, there was a woman ahead of me, God only knows how long she was standing there before I stepped in line, behind her. We were stood there for almost 3 minutes! While Stacy finished BS'ing with her buddy. When it was finally my turn to order my cup of hot chocolate, I was given the same rude attitude from before, only this time I gave it right back. Because it was to go, I was told to wait by the counter for my drink. While walking over there, I over heard a worker throwing a rather loud tantrum about not being able to go on break when she wanted to. As she walked away skulking (in my direction, of course), we made eye contact which she took as encouragement and proceeded to tell me how unfair it was that she couldn't go on break right then. So as not to seem rude, I replied "Go and complain". "WHAT DID YOU SAY?", she shrieked back at me. I repeated myself and she was like "Oh, I thought you said DON'T complain". Even if I did, that's how you react? This interaction was unwanted on my part to begin with, you're going to start an argument with a customer because you thought I didn't give you the response you wanted? She then, walked over to the counter with her back to me and my drink cam out a few seconds later, directly in front of her. I walked over and asked if that was my drink. She, with her back still to me, looked at the drink and said "Yeah", and rather than hand it to me, since it was right in front of her, turned her head back around and completely ignored me. I had to reach over her, literally brushing my arm against hers to get my drink. She didn't even move. Oh, and hot cocoa...lukewarm, no whipped cream or marshmallows. Yuck. Like I said, I had been here multiple times a few years ago and never had a single issue with the food or service. This visit left a horrible taste in my mouth and I don't think I would be willing to return to give them another chance. The food is sub-par and the workers are terribly rude. read more

Great location! Clean, friendly, and quick service! My food was prepared well and finished quick. I didn't care much for how they set up the hot tea station. Most, if not all, locations have the hot tea with the coffee in one station. The tea bags and got water were separate from anything else in between the food prep area and the registers. This seems like a bad idea considering going there is traffic and can get congested. Hot water could easily spill on someone. From there, you would have to walk across the way to the coffee station for stirrers, lids, honey etc. I did like that they had the green tea in the beverage self service area. This makes it exceedingly convenient to pour your drink and wait for food instead of waiting for both food and drink. I recommend the roasted turkey BLT! Great for when you are in the mood for a sandwich. If you're getting tea, I recommend the honey ginseng tea! read more
