I regularly pick-up lunch from Panera after we take the pup for a walk/hike. I like the accessibility of being able to order online and having the order delivered to me curbside or ready for me when I go into the restaurant. The food at Panera is pretty consistent regardless of whether I order from the Millbrae location or the Daly City location. Prices are average, but could be more affordable. The issue I have with the Daly City location is the service. The people handing me my order when I pick-up rarely say a word to me even though I always say, "thank you and have a nice day". I also never get utensils with my order even though I always select the utensils option when I order online. It makes for a very poor experience when the staff is not friendly and generally have a scowl on their face, which is clearly visible even with a mask on. We don't eat much here because I do feel it's a tad overpriced. We purchased 2 sandwiches a salad and soup no drinks $43 and the sandwiches were not it. The turkey sandwich tasted like dirt and I'm not being dramatic. The chicken salad sandwich literally had little to no salad. May 26, '24 was only the second time I've tried Panera, and it was at this same location. The food was good, but not as filling as I'd hoped, but what bothered me (and other guests, was a homeless man that entered through the main door, and proceeded to go to the self-serve drink area to get a beverage. As he walked pass the tables, he smelled really bad. Employees were nowhere to be found. I was behind the wall where the coffee bar is, so I couldn't see where the main cashier was, or if anyone was near the kitchen to ask him to leave. A customer had to get up and yell for someone to come out, but by the time someone did, the man had left, leaving a foul stench and an unpleasant experience for everyone. The employee who came out was asking "what the problem was", as if she couldn't smell the air or didn't see him. I felt that everyone was hiding until he left. read more

I've always loved Panera Bread. I love how you can order everything easily through their app, and they provide rewards/deals if you create a free account. At the store, you can even skip the line and order through their ipads. Their salads, sandwiches, soups, and pastries are always delicious. I also love how they try to be transparent with their ingredients and nutritional information. My go-to is the strawberry poppy seed salad (seasonal) and their chicken salad sandwich. The sesame semolina bread they use for the chicken salad sandwich is delicious. I've ordered the loaf itself to make my own sandwiches at home and its yummy. I like how soft it is (high in gluten fyi). I also love several of their soups, especially the creamy tomato. Indulge and get it in a bread bowl, their sourdough bread is soooooo good. Perfectly tart, soft, and the crust is perfect as the bowl of the soup. This Panera location though, fails in comparison to others. After ordering at the counter and paying for my meal, I took my # and sat down. After almost 10 minutes, my meal has still not arrived. I flag someone down to inquire, and this guy seems clueless and nervous. He goes back to the kitchen to check and comes back later to inform me that they are out of my soup and they "forgot" my salad? Why did I have to flag someone down for them to tell me my soup wasn't available? When my salad finally came out, I decided to forgive them because it was beautifully loaded with so much fresh fruit. The salad did not disappoint, except for that I would have liked a little more chicken. But that service though! Disappointing. Very disappointed in the bowl, size soup, and the price . The container they put it to go is very small. It's a size of a small size. It is definitely not the size to fit in a whole bowl. They need to change either the price of the size of the bowl very deceptive to say the least. ! Secondly, I usually order my soups to go . I ordered French onion soup and not once but twice when I ordered it, they forgot and failed to put the cheese on top of it, which should be melted on top. I must say, I never was a Panera gal til recently. Shelter in place cooking at home gets to me sometimes and I RUN (figuratively of course) to Panera to get my healthy work lunch on the fly. Their mobile ordering is super fast and convenient, this location is always easy for parking as well. I really like that you can do orders ahead of time, I ordered a few days in advance to bring our local chiropractics office a special treat! My favorite order here is the You Pick Two bundle, I always get the half sandwich - half salad option. The half servings are pretty big so I typically save whatever half item for my next meal! No I get why this store has 3 stars only. I would give it a 0 if it was possible. Sofia, Leti(GM) and who ever answered my call are a joke. Used the Panera app for delivery. Door dash didn't deliver full order. When I called the store the staff laughed. Oh yeah, not to mention placed me on hold twice for 10 minutes then hung up. Luckily I recorded the 2nd conversation. Staff who picked up the phone wouldn't give me her name, said that's not important-what do you want. I have submitted proper complaint to corporate. The GM is useless. I really wanted to give them 2.5 stars, but decided to round down instead of up and here's why.... 4/2/20, right in the middle of the Shelter In Place order. I placed an online order for one whole BLT and a pick 2 (salad and BLT). I left the house to pick it up and bring it home. I opened what I thought was my half BLT and it turned out to be a plain turkey & cheese. I brought my receipt and the "wrong" sandwich back to the store to show them. Granted, customer service was great. The cashier was very apologetic and offered to let me keep the "wrong" sandwich since they were going to toss it anyway. So although I'm satisfied with the way they rectified the situation, I didn't like that I had to leave my house again for half a sandwich. I also think their prices are a bit high. This is absolutely not acceptable. I picked up my apple chicken salad and the vegetables were completely rotten. I tried to pick out the bad ones but quickly realized that none of it was edible. In addition to ruining my dinner, this might cause food poisoning for customers and poses a serious health risk. I couldn't even reach a store manager to raise the issue because there's no representative to pick up the phone and "the voice mailbox is full." I had no choice but to drive all the way back to the store where the manager apologized and remade me another set of salads. The problem is when I returned home, I find the vegetables in these two salads AGAIN rotten! Can this store just please throw away the expired and rotten food instead of trying to "save" them for the customers? There's absolutely no concern for health and safety for whoever is managing this place. The free apple that goes with the meal is also rotten by the way. This is my first time ordering a pickup from this place, and my experience was NOT good. No wonder the review is so bad. I placed an order for pickup along with the sides. I got two salads, and 3 bread bowls of soup, with side orders for bread, apple, and chips. Not only did I not get any sides, but there were no utensils that came along either. They text me that my order is ready. How can it be ready if there are no sides which I requested and no utensils. I have NEVER been to a place where they don't follow the customers orders. It made me feel like they are trying to trick customers to not provide the sides. I will NOT recommend this place to anyone. And I will definitely NEVER plan on returning to this place EVER AGAIN!! Recently dined at this Panera on Gellert in Daly City. It was our first time at this location and also the last. We could not find a table because they were all dirty so had to ask someone to clean one. The autumn squash soup was barely warm. I like my soup hot especially if it is a cool afternoon.
