UPDATE: Got the same salad today that I always get. Substituted blue cheese for feta. They gave me HAVARTI cheese, and left off the bacon. Come on, Panera. I never have any problems with any other location. I love Panera, but this location is so hard to love. It's so near my work- I keep going back. Their employees are super nice, but my order is wrong EVERY single time. I don't even custom order anything- they just never put all of the things that are included in the salad on. I would appreciate my chicken cobb avocado salad with chicken on it! They are always great at correcting things, but I shouldn't have to go back in every time I visit. read more

When I first started working from home 4 months ago, I loved coming here occasionally for breakfast. The staff was friendly, and they made a delicious egg white and cheese sandwich. One weekend I insisted my husband try breakfast here, and the drive thru took 25 minutes and got the order wrong. We tried it two more times, and each time our order was wrong. Having to find parking to take the order back in is inconvenient, but they always try to make it right. After a couple of months of avoiding this place, I tried it again for breakfast. The young woman working the window was rude. The whole point of going there was to get an extra bagel for my husband's lunch tomorrow... Asked for an asiago and got a cinnamon. Honestly. This place is just awful. Their staff is so slow. I go here occasionally because of convenience of my work to home ratio. Every time I kick myself. I know it's not fast food but honestly they need to hire some competent expository to help. They need to train better in customer service. I can't seem to get in and out in under 15 min. I turned my car off in their drive thru line it was so bad. I've called and complained and still no change and they really aren't apologetic or empathetic to wasting time. Skip it. read more

Had a terrible experience this week with the Rapid Pickup service at this location. My husband and I were supposed to take dinner to our friends (brand new parents - and their family - freshly home from the hospital) so we placed an order online several hours before we needed to pick it up. Upon our arrival at the store, there was nothing waiting on the Rapid Pickup shelves. After several minutes of waiting for an employee to offer to help us (everyone, including the cashiers at the front of the store and the employees in the kitchen ignored us), I interrupted someone who was making a sandwich to ask about our order. This employee called for the manager, James, who took several minutes to come out of the back of the store. James concluded that despite our having received an email confirmation for our order, it was never logged in their system. He also explained that they were sold out of many of the items that we had ordered, so completing our entire order was not even possible. Our order initially included 15 items (we were picking up for 6 people) and was cut down to 10 after we eliminated the items they didn't have in stock. It took 20 minutes for the staff to make those 10 items, so we spent a total of 30 minutes in the store figuring out the problem and waiting for food to be made. In the meantime, at least 5 other guests returned to the food counter complaining that their order had been made incorrectly (a small salad instead of a large, wrong bread, wrong cheese, wrong order altogether). Clearly, attention to detail needs improvement. We asked for a refund, but James told us that he was unauthorized to make refunds. We asked to speak to a district manager at the time of our departure and James assured us that someone would call us yesterday to discuss our complaints. That hasn't happened. We were 30 minutes late to drop off dinner for our friends because of this disappointing situation. It would have been faster to simply come to the store and order through regular methods...and then maybe we could have known what items were out of stock before we ordered them. read more

If you can, just avoid this place. They have failed multiple times in so many ways after a while you have to give up. I even tried to reach out to a manager before posting this to see if they could resolve the last issue... Staff doesn't care about patrons and you can be waiting up to twenty mins while they have a conversation and act like you don't exist. Then a staff member will ruin the last of an item available because they are engaged in a conversation with another and not paying attention, then say they ran out and lie to you. The manager on duty was part of all the fiasco... just avoid this place. read more

This is the worst Panera I have ever been to. The employees congregate together whining about work while you wait for your food. The talk on the food line has on occasion been vulgar. They also do not clean up the dining room. All of this was expressed to the manager on duty, and her response was to simply not to go to the store anymore. Done and done. read more

I eat here a lot due to my location. Sometimes my food is great and other times it's actually very bad. One day I'll have a sandwich that's perfect, the next it has more sauce on it and less meat then I've ever had. Really just lack of good cooks who actually appreciate what they do. I work across from this Panera, so it's quick and easy to get to. I typically go in for a quick coffee and pastry, or a sandwich, which are generally up to the usual standards. The last time I went in, I was rather disappointed with the service. I placed a larger to-go order than my usual: two you pick two meals. One was totally accurate and on point, but the other was missing pieces (incorrect sides, the salad missing components - you generally expect the Fuji Apple Chicken to have apples and chicken). Simply not the experience I've come to expect from Panera. I hope next time will be better. read more

The Panera Bread location just opened and it's conveniently located on 38th Avenue, not far from my house. Upon entering the establishment, I was promptly greeted by the staff. I placed a take-out order and headed home. Unfortunately, upon returning home I noticed they forgot a portion of my order. I was a little irritated that I had to go back there and get our order squared away. The manager on duty offered to refund our entire order, which was very nice of her. Though I politely declined her offer, I was very pleased with the customer service. She also offered to throw in some free bagels and bread to make up for the mishap. Being a small business owner myself, I appreciate this kind of service very much and we'll definitely be back! read more

This is not my favorite location, mainly due to the staff. They are slow, unfriendly and have issues counting out change... My order has been mixed up every time I've eaten at this location too. It is decent to catch an hour on the laptop, but it is not inviting to stay very long. Parking can be a hassle since it is right off 38th too. Save your buck and go somewhere local in the Highlands. read more

Normally I like Panera's "boring but dependable." This location was out of most bagels at 11:30 AM, and the coffee was two hours old.

Went back to this location and had a much better experience. Very friendly service! And the cinnamon crunch bagel was delicious. Coffee wasn't great though. read more

I think this place is pretty good, they always get my order right and the staff is very friendly, could be a little cleaner though and back parking is little tight. however, food and drinks are fresh I only wish they had more vegan options! and more variety in their menu. it's a nice place to go for lunch we usually go there on Saturdays with friends, but like I said there's not too much variety on the menu. would love it if they gave you more options. read more

Nice, new, clean location. Friendly staff, good managers, yummy food. They seem to still be encountering some bumps in the system. One morning I stopped in to grab a sandwich to bring to work. The drive-thru line was long, so I went inside. For some reason the line staff kept filling other orders before mine. The manager recognized it right away, pointed out the error, and offered me a pastry and drink to make up for my delay. I was impressed with the way the manager handled the situation. I was getting my hair done two blocks away so I ordered food ... took over 40 minutes and they gave me someone else's order then another 40 minutes went by and the delivery guy tried to drop correct order off without saying anything ? then when I asked him about who to talk to when getting reimbursed he said not his problem he was too busy and ran away ... everyone in the hair salon can contest ...he ran away .. I then called and asked for the general manager the girl said he was too busy to come to phone but would call me .. I asked for his first and last name she said she only knew his first name and not his last because it was too hard to pronounce and spanish ? No-one ever called me .. this isn't the first time Panera Bread on lowell and 38th got my order wrong this location is notorious for that and what happened was really strange and extremely poor customer service ... Sad, so sad. I've always liked Panera until my last three visits at this location. Won't go into detail but this last time they left the chicken out of the Chicken Cobb w Avocado. I don't normally call and talk to managers about these things but the location is great for me and, like I said, until recently everything has been good. The manager was not impolite but he just wanted to give me a free meal and get me off the phone. Didn't apologize or say he'd look into refresher training for his staff or even bring it up at the next staff meeting. Just didn't care enough. So, I'll go one more time and see if I can upgrade to more stars. I'm not hopeful. read more

This place use to be good but over the last year it seems they can't keep decent staff or management. Never order the tomato and mozzarella because you will get exactly one tomato and one laughable piece of mozzarella that they will hide with two hand fulls of arugula in hopes you don't notice. When you do notice be prepared to have several blank stares when you try to explain what's wrong. The staff doesn't even try and it's obvious that part of the problem is a lack of leadership.
