Just okay. I eat plant-based, and for a place that touts itself as "healthy," it's lacking in many areas. Lunch is where it's best. It has fresh salads, good veggie sandwiches (just ask them to remove the dairy), and nice seating. Breakfast is fairly weak for those not eating meat, dairy, or eggs. Even though they have hummus on their lunch items, they routinely tell me I can't it on breakfast items. So, you have to get creative. The easy choice is whole grain bread/bagel with peanut butter (the whole grain does have honey in case you're strictly vegan for ethical reasons. Sesame bagels and plain bagels are vegan on their site, but much less nutritious, so pick your poison). The other option is to get the avocado, egg white, and spinach bagel sandwich with no egg and no cheese. Anyway, Elk Grove is a bit rough for plant based eaters, so Panera is at least a place you can get something to eat even if options for breakfast are limited. read more

...It's a Sunday morning, I don't understand why the woman at the register (who also happened to be the store manager) was being so rude to my parents! Her attitude was unnecessary, as my parents were being kind and friendly to her. Poor service, low quality food. They didn't even have dark roast coffee out when we came at around 10:30am. Ordered curbside pick up for the convenience and to save some time. Order was ready at 7:45 but at 8:15 I was still waiting in the car. Since I saw ppl go in order and get their food I decided to go in at 8:23. There was no one in line and 1 person waiting for the food and there were 3 workers on the front. When I asked for the reason why they didn't bring out the food, they said they are busy.... I wouldn't have mind going inside to get my food if they call me and let me know that they are busy. ok idk why the reviews here are so bad bc i love panera with my Whole heart. my usual order during the winter is cheddar broccoli soup with this chicken avocado sandwich and that shit smack!! i'll admit the portions are a bit small for the price but i don't mind i still get full off of it. during summer i like to replace the soup with their summer chowder-- it's freaking delicious, i love the corn in it yum. i recommend getting their green papaya tea bc it's sweet but not overpowering. and if u hate social interaction, they have self ordering stations lmao! read more

Panera Bread could go to Bread Hell, if Bread Hell exists.... Customer service is not their forte. I walked in one time and wanted to order a white mocha. The cashier said white mochas didn't exist on their menu. So, I changed my mind and ordered a hot chocolate with a muffin. The cashier was pretty friendly, but the barista who made my drink was such a snot. I don't know what I did --- maybe she got pissed that I asked for a white mocha, I dunno -- it was only a question... As I was waiting for my drink, the barista gave me several dirty looks and chatted with her "girlfriends" or co-workers while making my drink. I don't mind the chatting --- just don't give me dirty looks --- that's rude. And she was so crude, saying to her co worker ---- "Oh, your hair looks HOT! It's so HOT!" Shut up --- we're not at your drunk nasty high school party. She set my drink on the hand off station and did not mutter a word --- not even, "Here's a hot chocolate." Nothing ... not even a "Thank you." I should have just thrown the drink in her face --- but I didn't want to waste my money. Lastly, the hot chocolate just tasted like warm milk. Not only are the workers rude, they're idiots too ---- they can't even whip up a simple hot chocolate. Not going back --- ever. It's a shame because it's in a very nice shopping center. read more

Its funny how I've been living in Elk Grove almost my entire life and I had a good friend in high school who worked here but I NEVER got a chance to try it until recently. i was definitely missing out :( both times I went here with friends for lunch, we ended up talking for HOURS just catching up! I always come back for their cinnamon bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. Mmmm good! But their coffee deserves 1 star! It's always sooo warm and blah. I once ordered their croissant and asked them to toast it for me. At first the girl behind the counter was hesitant and said it will burn. But she adjusted the toaster temp and smashed the croissant to fit it in which was no prob for me and it turned out fine. On my next visit, I wanted the same order. A bakery cafe with free wireless internet!!! Definately a plus for me since I am a college student. There is a patio outside in the front with chairs and tables, a cafe section in front of where you order for those who don't want to mingle, and the "loungey" section where the decor is really homey with warm tones, fireplace, and comfy chairs. Panera offers a variety of freshly made, handcrafted artisan breads and other specialty breads, along with bagels, pastries, baked goods, and hot and cold espresso beverages. You order from the menu, they give you a buzzer, find a table, and get the food when the buzzer goes off. The prices have increased gradually for the numerous visits I have made here. The cafe offers sandwiches, soups, salads and usual fare of fountain drinks. Expect to pay $11+ for that or their half sandwich and soup combo which starts at $7+ Their chicken panini sandwich was dry only fixed by a ton of dressings they put in the sandwich. The panini wasn't good at holding everything together so it became a mess to eat. The soup (minestrone) was awfully salty and the chicken was bland. Their bakery items are okay but I think I will prefer to go to a real bakery next time. I had their strawberry creme cheese pastry. It tasted like the same thing from Costco or Winco. The white chocolate cafe mocha was the best in my book after I needed to stay awake to study after work. It came in a HUGE teacup and was only $4. Not too sweet and not too bland. I only would come here if it wasn't for the free wireless internet, comfy study environment, and for the occasional soups/salads/bakery. read more

Came here to study today and Panera was a great environment, as always. Before when I came, the hot water wasn't left outside for customers to refill their tea but today it was there which is a plus. The hot water wasn't really "hot" today which explains the deduction of a star... But the staff was incredible! The "guy" who was taking out the trash and cleaning tables were going around asking if everyone was doing okay and made small talk with customers who were waiting for their food which I thought showed really great customer service. Oh and free wi-fi! There was a sign that said wifi was unavailable from the hours of 11:30-2:00 which I assume is because of the lunch rush. It's unfortunately become a 'meh, I've experienced better place'. I don't know if it's all chains or this location, but some of the photos definitely highlight what I've experienced. I've been coming here since I was in high school (preparing to graduate uni). It's local to my home and convenient. It's a hit or miss you could say. Sandwiches, pastries, pasta, smoothies, breakfast all in one place? Free wifi, lots of parking and a rewards card? I'm there! Food though seems to be lacking something. I don't think it's the stores themselves, I think it goes a lot higher than that and it trickles down. The food has truly become mediocre and prepared tastelessly. The workers seem to throw sandwiches together and hope maybe we won't look at what we're eating? My last meal I had was meh. It was just really shitty presentation for lack of better adjective. I'm a sandwich, salad, smoothie person. If I'm there in the morning with family then pastries and bagels. I still love the breakfast I've gotten and the smoothies still make me happy, but the sandwiches need a serious overhaul. Especially the tomato mozzarella. Even in flatbread form that sandwich needs improvement. Staff is still friendly. I enjoy rewards and their bagels. The lines move quick and the atmosphere is nice. If you want to surf the web, listen to music, do some studying....then Panera Bread is the perfect place to go. I had to study for my license and was here for at least 4-5 hours studying almost every day. Their decor is tastefully done, there weren't many obnoxious after-school specials (high schoolers) and the atmosphere was friendly. As for the food....well, I give their food about a 2.5 stars because it's just, "okay." I give the company as a whole, about 4 stars. Why? Well, because my sister and I were craving some Panera bread, so we both ordered a salad and a sandwich. Its was about 30 minutes to closing, and we ordered our dinner to go. When we got home.....I was so disappointed!! Their rolls were rock hard....literally! Their salad was tossed together in a sloppy way and was missing ingredients and they forgot to put the turkey in their sandwich!!! I was soooo mad, so I did what I had to do. I wrote a very firm complaint to their website and how disappointed I was in their quality of service and food. Lo and Behold!! I love walking in and smelling the fragrance of fresh bread. Lately, I've noticed that I don't even get that anymore. Even though I come regularly, prices are a little bit on the cha-ching $ide. I've tried a few different sandwiches, but the only memorable one is the breakfast sandwich. It's 3.99 and soooo gooddd. SO worth 3.99. Their jalapeno cheese bagels are outrageously yummy. Every time I come in, it always seem so busy. No matter what time of the day it is. They also seem to be understaffed. There is usually only one person working the register when I come in. With only one person at the register, the line can build up extremely fast. Of course lunch time is their busiest, so avoid lunch hours is possible. Their pastries also sell out pretty quick as well. Past couple of times I arrive at about 11am and their quiche and soufflé has already been sold out. Who can blame them though, their quiche and soufflé is gooood. I haven't reviewed Panera Bread for a while, but I went back today for lunch and thought I would. They still have reliable food (soups, sandwiches, paninis, salads, etc.) and a great bakery section. I love taking a look at all of the delicious baked goods that they have. My favorite things to get are either the cinnamon roll, scone (they always have different flavors), and bear claw. The also have freshly baked bagels and breads for you to take to-go if you wish. Okay, now here's what still annoys me about Panera Bread. Since most of them are located around businesses, try to avoid going here during lunch hour on weekdays. Not only do you have to deal with the annoying long lines and groups of people, but it's really hard to find yourself a table that isn't already taken by some businessman/woman with his or her laptop. They also talk REALLY loud - so when you're sitting there trying to enjoy your meal, it's hard to drown out the business conversation going on at the table next to you. Annoying! But now that I think about it, I used to consider La Bou as being better than Panera Bread. But I actually think that PB may be in the lead now. You can always count on them having new delicious items on the menu, freshly baked goods, and friendly staff. Their hours are also a LOT better than La Bou (La Bou closes ridiculously early). They also let you choose which side you would like with your meal (chips, apple, baguette) - which La Bou doesn't have. I had the tomato soup today for lunch and it tasted much more fresh and is also much more hearty with actual chunks of tomato in it. La Bou needs to step up their game. read more

Great place for a quick good meal. Their food is much higher quality than fast food and comes at the same speed. I had a grilled steak and cheese sandwich which was excellent. Rapid Pick Up is the way to go it saves time from having to stand in line and wait for your food especially if your on a time crunch. I love coming here for the broccoli cheddar soup. They had my order ready to go on time and everything was correct I like that on the receipt it shows that someone had to sign off showing they double checked your order to ensure accuracy. While trying to decide what I was gong to get instead I overheard other people trying to order even more simple items that they were also out of. So I do want to start with saying panera bread Elk Grove is usually on top of there game but there has been 2 instances that I have pre ordered the Napa Almond Chicken salad sandwich for pick up where there was literally a little spoonful of chicken in the sandwhich. If im gonna pay $8.49 for a sandwich atleast make sure theres chicken salad in the whole thing and not just one corner. Also when I brought the 1st sandwich back the employee that made the sandwich had the nerve to say "whats wrong with it??" I always held the franchise to more of a higher standard. The atmosphere was splendid and probably the nicest I've ever seen for a bread/soup/salad, fast food type of place. It's quiet, clean, modern, with lots and lots of tables. I'm guessing a lot of people do to go, because most of the tables weren't sat. Perfect place to study at. The customer service was a bit disappointing however. I had learned about Panera through a documentary shown in management class. Part of their mission is to have exceptional customer service and to make them feel welcome, warm and at home. There was nothing warm about the employees I encountered and observed. I watched one of the younger female employees stare and talk to an older customer with impatience and it bothered me a bit. There was some kind of confusion with the tag posted and the bread he wanted, so he was probably not at fault. But she sounded somewhat annoyed. Anyway, there are lots of soups, sandwiches and salads. They range from about $5 to $8. There is also a PICK TWO option for about $6 to $7 where you get to pick cup of soup/half sandwich/half salad. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and saw lots of noodles but no chicken. The creamy tomato soup is delicious! The smoked ham and swiss sandwich was very, very good. I'll definitely be back to try their other items on the menu as well as some baked goods and drinks on the menu. Hopefully next time I'll encounter nicer employees. read more

I enjoy going to this location, not only because it's super close to my work, but they are the sweetest people. They have exceptional customer service, always aiming to please. It can get really busy, especially in the morning, but they're quick and efficient at the register. Everything is freshly baked and just DELICIOUS. I usually get the 'Mediterranean Veggie' sandwich, which makes my mouth water just thinking about it. In the morning, it's always a whole wheat bagel and a large coffee. They provide a nice selection of coffee, from decaf, dark roasted, and even hazelnut. They do a great job refilling and making sure the coffee is full, labeling the dispenser with the time it was brewed. There have been a couple times when a dispenser was empty, but I'm sure if you ask, they would be happy to take care of that for you. They also can cut and toast your bagel, with a yummy selection of cream cheese, from plain to many flavors to choose from; make sure you come early because some bagels run out quick!
