I've been going to Panera Bread for years and never had experienced such rude staff. We waited in line for over 10 minutes with nobody in front of us and never were acknowledged. The one and only cashier that was working was only concerned about taking phone orders. We grew impatient and so did the line of 15+ behind us that we simply walked out and down to Jerry's Deli. At lease we were served there. Never again will I go back. Management, maybe you should directly your staff to serve the people who are actually there or tell them to politely say "I will be right with you." I have been here many times in the last few months because it's on my work route. What I like about Panera is I can get coffee, a bagel or a pastry and also a lunch to go. It sets me up for my first two meals of the day. Service is always excellent and the manager is usually on-site working. Their baked goods are behind a glass and look delicious. Most I've tried (muffins, scones and cookies) are tasty. For lunch, they offer sandwiches, soups and salads. Everything has been delicious and fairly nutritious. Parking is limited in back but easily available early. They also have a rewards card that offers discounts and free items. read more

*This review is only for the cookie I had* I have not tried the food here but I have had the regular brewed coffee and the uber delicious cookie that is heavenly known as the Chocolate Duel Walnut (or something very similiar...my mind is too absorbed with how great this cookie was!). Coffee was better than Starbucks, so that says a lot! The cookie goodness was a mix of dark chocolate, white chocolate chunks & walnuts. It had the right amount of sweetness and definitely hit the spot after lunch. I'll be eating this again soon! read more

I don't usually write reviews on places like this, but this one was well deserved. I ordered a large order for pick up, and the manager had clearly take the extra time to get it right! The last two times I had placed orders at other Panera's, no one had checked it, and I ended up having to add stickers on unlabeled sandwiches, ask for pickles which should come, or get the proper side count for my order (VERY frustrating and time consuming.) For my company, I do catered lunches often, and was about to write Panera off completely prior to this last experience. Thank you to the team here, for taking the time and effort to do things right! I was just there a few minutes ago and the service was fast, the food was delicious and the staff seemed to be in a great mood and having fun (that's always nice!). I'm not impressed. Maybe its just this particular one in Encino? I feel like for the price you pay: you get a meager amount of food - if you get a half sandwich half soup deal, you get a tiny soup and 2 pieces of bread with barely anything inside. The trick is to get a salad with the half/half deal, but it still not that much, and not that great. You can go to the deli at Gelson's and get the half sandwich + 2 side salad deal for $6!!! and come out SUPER full. Twice i've been there i dealt with staff members who did not know how to make an iced coffee. How can you claim to make fresh coffee and not know how to make iced coffee being in the HOT L.A valley???!! Finally, something that really annoyed me, is that right as I was giving my credit card to pay for my meal, I also gave the little keychain card I was given the first time i went there to accrue points, but to my grand surprise you need to give the keychard card as you first order... otherwise the computer won't take it??? I believe the girl that helped me her name was Lexi or Alexa or Lexa one of the 3 but she was super nice. I was craving this so much and after ordering, and paying I was told bacon was unavailable and that I was given bacon crumbs instead when I asked if it was same price I was told I think. I was excited that Panera opened in my neighborhood so of course had to try it out. I have dined here many times and enjoy the food, especially the chicken chopped salad which I ask for Caesar's dressing due to being the lowest in carbs on the menu. I think I will try the Greek Salad next. I wish they had more lower carb dishes for me but these are good for starters. One night the manager brought us a free brownie from the bakery which my friends loved. It's very clean and cheery inside. Ordering seems to take awhile longer than I like however. Parking is plentiful in the back and on the side at night. They also have a club card for discounts so be sure to ask for one and then register it online. read more

I have to disclose tat I'm a bit biased as I love the Panera Bread chain in general. My romance began with the Loma Linda branch back in 2008 while traveling between California and Arizona, on the 10 HWY. Being often a local in the San Fernando valley I was happy to find the relatively new branch right on Ventura blvd. in Encino On my first visit I used my birthday gift drink which Panera loaded onto my member card. I let the friendly lady at the counter suggest the most costly drink and on top that she kindly boosted the Caramel Mocha iceblend for me with a free double espresso shot. I sat in one booth, sipped and enjoying the WiFi in the warm colors and cozy lighting. One recommendation: the ventilation system should be more efficient as that evening the smell of cooked food was too intense and overwhelmed my ability to purely enjoy the taste of my sweet drink. read more

The back area is cluttered and surfaces are dusty. There's a massive menu of average sandwich at absurd prices. 10$ for a turkey sandwich with kale. On top of that anything not slapped between two pieces of bread is pretty much microwaved. From the looks of the place and the operations, I wouldn't order anything where a machine is involved in making it. It's dubious as to whether things are cleaned well regularly. read more

I came in today hoping to eat a late breakfast but I missed the cut off time. "Remo" welcomed me into the place and made me feel so comfortable I ordered lunch. He was very patient, and pleasant. Remo explained every sandwich to me and he went above and beyond by allowing me to test a sample one of their soups and I ended up purchasing it. I noticed that he treated every customer with importance, dignity and respect! He really made me feel welcomed and because of him I purchased food and I will return to this location. I was going to give this place three stars but as I hovered over two and saw the explanation: "Meh. I've experienced better.", I realized that is all too fitting of my experience at this location. I love the Studio City Panera. Thought I was going to love this one, but that's really never been the case. They've made various flub ups on my food (I get everything from bagels to mac & cheese to combos to salads), and the general service isn't really that good. But honestly, the thing that irks me most about this location is that it seems like it stops being a Panera Bread after 2pm. Whenever I've gone in from then on, their bagel selection is completely wiped out. Some food and two very scared children pretty much sums up my experience here today. When we ordered from a very friendly and very sweet cashier, we asked if our kids meals include drinks, which we were assured they do. All of a sudden, a manager, Natalie Drummer (sp?) came out to ringing us up and everything went downhill from there. When we questioned why our bill was so high, it turned out that my kids drinks were not included after all. The cashier even confirmed to the manager that she told us of the drinks are free, it wasn't a big deal except for the huge amount of attitude we got from the manager because we were magically supposed to know their own policies better than they do. She went on a rant explaining how the drinks were clearly a different line order on her computer, except she had no idea how to explain to us how we're supposed to see the computer from the other side of the counter. She rolled her eyes so much and was so rude that I actually had to stop and ask her to keep her frustration to a minimum and stop being rude in front of my children. At no point did she apologize or improve her demeanor towards us, she huffed and puffed and ran off before saying thank you or sorry or giving us a receipt. My poor children were so freaked out they were afraid to drink their drinks during lunch. The manager then proceeded to keep coming around and cleaning the tables around us, making us extremely uncomfortable and just ready to get out of there. Definitely not a place I would ever come back to you, but I do urge the owners to have some better management training for their employees, especially when small children are present. read more
